Description

The present invention relates to an exhaust system in a vehicle.Exhaust systems are used for transferring an exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine to the exhaust. Typically, such exhaust systems include, as components, a turbocharger, a muffler, an air filter, a catalyst, a particulate filter, and an intake duct.DE 10 2012 000 591 A1 discloses an engine block arrangement having an exhaust system with an exhaust gas turbocharger, oxidation catalytic converter, addition device for a urea-water solution, an SCR catalytic converter and a particle filter.DE 10 2013 225 256 A1 discloses a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine with an exhaust system with an exhaust gas turbocharger and a catalytic converter.DE 10 2008 039 290 A1 discloses a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine with an air filter system arranged in the engine compartment.US 2013 / 0 240 284 A1 discloses a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine with an exhaust line, with two catalytic converters and with an exhaust gas heat recovery arrangement. It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved, in particular space-saving, exhaust system. The object of the present invention is achieved by an exhaust system in a vehicle, wherein the exhaust system comprises a turbocharger mounted on the engine side, an intake duct mounted on the engine side and an air filter housing mounted on the body side, wherein the turbocharger is connected to the air filter housing via the intake duct, and wherein the intake duct extends along a direction running perpendicular to the main extension plane of the vehicle.Compared to the prior art, the arrangement according to the invention makes it possible for installation space to be provided spatially next to the unit comprising the intake duct, turbocharger and air filter housing, wherein the installation space provided in turn advantageously makes it possible to arrange a catalytic converter and / or a particle filter outside a silencer in the exhaust system. Moreover, a volume of the muffler, i.e., a muffler volume, can be increased. In addition, a preferred weight distribution can be set, in particular a forward weight displacement can be effected. Another advantage is that an exhaust manifold can be shortened for improved response. The mounting of the air filter housing on the vehicle body side also makes an additional mounting for the air filter housing superfluous. The air filter housing is preferably directly connected to a body part of the vehicle, for example to a wheel arch of the vehicle. The main extension plane is understood in particular to mean the plane which runs through two wheel axles of the vehicle and extends in particular parallel to the direction of travel or parallel to a floor surface on which the vehicle is moving. It is furthermore conceivable that the unit consisting of an air filter housing, a turbocharger and an intake duct is arranged in the rear region of the vehicle. A bearing on the engine side of the turbocharger and of the intake duct is preferably to be understood as a direct or indirect rigid connection to the engine, i.e. to an internal combustion engine. In particular, an air filter is arranged in the interior of the air filter housing, wherein the air filter is preferably flowed through from top to bottom during operation. It is conceivable that the air filter arranged in the air filter housing extends obliquely to the main extension plane of the vehicle. In addition, the air cleaner housing, the intake duct, and the turbocharger are configured such that air exiting the air cleaner housing is directed through the intake duct to an inlet of the turbocharger.Advantageous embodiments and developments of the invention can be derived from the dependent claims and from the description with reference to the drawings.According to a further embodiment of the present invention, it is provided that the air filter housing is arranged above the turbocharger along the direction running perpendicular to the main extension plane. As a result, the air filter housing can be advantageously arranged without great effort and with an increased installation space, in such a way that sucked-in air is conducted from the air filter housing through the suction duct from top to bottom to the turbocharger along the direction running perpendicular to the main extension plane.According to a further embodiment of the present invention, it is provided that the turbocharger and / or the intake duct is or are arranged substantially directly adjacent to a wheel arch of the vehicle. As a result, the weight of the unit comprising the turbocharger, the air filter housing and the intake duct can be displaced towards the wheel axle, in particular forwards in the direction of travel (during forward travel).According to a further embodiment of the present invention, it is provided that the air filter housing is arranged at the same height as an upper third of the wheel house. The space below the air filter housing can then advantageously be used for the intake duct and the turbocharger.According to a further embodiment of the present invention, it is provided that a catalytic converter and / or a particle filter is or are arranged outside a muffler in the exhaust system. This advantageously allows rapid replacement of the individual components in the exhaust system, if necessary. Preferably, individual components of the exhaust system are connected to one another via a flange.According to a further embodiment of the present invention, it is provided that an air guidance system leading air to the air filter housing runs above the wheel house. In particular, the air guidance system ends directly at the air filter housing. Preferably, an outlet of the air guidance system is sealingly connected to an inlet of the air filter housing, in particular by means of a rubber seal.Further details, features and advantages of the invention are evident from the drawing and from the following description of preferred embodiments with reference to the drawing. The drawing illustrates only an exemplary embodiment of the invention, which does not restrict the essential inventive idea.FIG. 1 shows an exhaust system of a vehicle according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.Referring to FIG. 1, an exhaust system of a vehicle according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is illustrated. Preferably, the exhaust system is arranged together with an internal combustion engine in the rear region of the vehicle. The exhaust system comprises an air filter housing 1 with an integrated air filter, a turbocharger 3 and an intake duct 2, via which an exhaust gas coming from the air filter housing 1 is conducted to the turbocharger 3. It is provided here that the turbocharger 3 and the intake duct 2 are mounted on the engine side and the air filter housing 1 is mounted on the vehicle body side. For example, the air filter housing 1 is fastened directly to the vehicle body by means of one or more brackets. This advantageously makes it possible to dispense with an additional mounting for the air filter housing 1. Furthermore, it is preferably provided that an air guidance system 5 ends directly at the air filter housing 1. It is conceivable that the air guiding system 5 is connected to the air filter housing 1 via a rubber seal. Furthermore, it is provided that the air filter housing 1, the intake duct 2 and the turbocharger 3 are arranged along a direction which runs substantially perpendicular to the main extension plane of the vehicle. The main extension plane preferably extends through two wheel axles of the vehicle and parallel to the direction of travel. Furthermore, the air filter housing 1 is arranged above the turbocharger 3 along the direction which runs perpendicular to the main extension plane. In particular, it is provided that the exhaust system is configured such that the exhaust gas is conducted from above through the air filter housing 1 via the intake duct 2 downwards to the turbocharger 3. Preferably, the unit consisting of air filter housing 1, turbocharger 3 and intake duct 2 is positioned directly next to a wheel arch 4. By the arrangement of air filter housing 1, turbocharger 3 and intake duct 2, the distance of turbocharger 3 or turbochargers 3 from the internal combustion engine can be shortened, whereby the response behavior of the internal combustion engine can be improved as compared with the exhaust system with a longer exhaust manifold because of the shorter exhaust path. Moreover, installation space is provided which allows a catalytic converter and a particle filter to be arranged in the exhaust system outside a silencer 6 of the vehicle. Moreover, this arrangement makes it possible to increase a muffler volume of the muffler 6. A further advantage is that the weight of the exhaust system is displaced in the direction of the wheel axles, in particular forwards.List of reference numbers:1 Air filter housing 2 Intake duct 3 Turbocharger 4 Wheel house 5 Air guidance system 6 Sound damper
