Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a disc brake for a commercial vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1. The invention also relates to a brake pad set.
[0002] In a disc brake of this type, also known as a sliding-caliper brake (or floating-caliper brake), an application-side brake pad is pressed against a vehicle-side brake disc by means of an application device that can be actuated pneumatically or by an electric motor during braking. As the braking process continues, the brake caliper is displaced relative to the brake disc in the opposite direction to the application direction of the application-side brake pad, driving and pressing the opposite, reaction-side (back) brake pad against the other side of the brake disc.
[0003] After the brake is released, the brake caliper of a conventional disc brake remains in this position, in which the brake pads, or at least the reaction-side brake pad, are in contact with the brake disc, albeit without pressure. The resulting residual friction torque of the brake pads during driving has a detrimental effect, leading to increased fuel consumption and a reduction in the service life of the components involved, namely the brake disc and the brake pads.
[0004] Although a slight release of the brake pads occurs during driving, for example, due to wobbling of the brake disc, as well as vibrations and lateral acceleration when cornering, these effects are not sufficient to effectively prevent the aforementioned residual drag torque. These effects can also lead to the brake pads coming into contact with the brake disc again after the brake pads have been released from the brake disc, which can again create residual drag torque.
[0005] DE 10 2007 001 213 A1 describes a disc brake with a pad return device which is arranged in one of the guide bars, by means of which the brake calliper is movably held on the brake carrier, and which has a resilient return element by means of which the brake calliper is moved into an initial position.
[0006] In principle, this design has proven itself. However, the use of this known pad reset device in air-operated disc brakes on heavy commercial vehicles can lead to problems, as there are wide ranges of variable influences caused by component tolerances and component deformations, which do not always allow for reliable operation of this pad reset device.
[0007] Similar problems arise with a disc brake such as the one discussed in DE 10 2012 006 111 A1. A pad resetting device is arranged on the side opposite the brake application device, facing the reaction-side brake pad, thereby achieving effective, particularly automatic resetting of the brake caliper while simultaneously minimizing interference with the system's rigidity.
[0008] In any case, the pad return device acts on the brake calliper, with the brake carrier acting as an abutment.
[0009] DE 43 01 621 A1 describes a floating caliper disc brake with a stationary brake carrier which has two carrier arms projecting over the outer edge of a brake disc, with brake shoes arranged on both sides of the brake disc, each having a friction lining and a backing plate, which are movably supported on the carrier arms, with a floating caliper which is guided axially displaceably on the brake carrier, which engages around the brake shoes and has an actuating device intended to press the brake shoes against the brake disc, with a spring arrangement which acts axially on the brake shoes in the brake release direction and which supports the setting of a clearance between the brake shoes and the brake disc after braking. The spring arrangement has at least one spreading spring which is fastened to a support arm of the brake carrier in a completely non-displaceable manner in the axial direction, that the fastening takes place on a section of the support arm located above the outer edge of the brake disc, and that the spreading spring has at least two spring arms which rest resiliently on the back plates of the brake shoes in the axial direction.
[0010] US2014 / 0339026 A1 describes a spreader spring comprising a locking arm connecting the spreader spring to a brake component, a retraction arm, and a pretensioning device arranged between the locking arm and the retraction arm. The pretensioning device comprises six or more spiral loops that store energy during brake activation and retract the brake components (brake pad) once the braking process is complete. A brake caliper in the form of a floating caliper, which is not a sliding caliper, is specified. This is suitable for a passenger vehicle, but not for a commercial vehicle.
[0011] DE 10 2016 120 481 A1 describes a disc brake for a commercial vehicle, with a brake caliper designed as a sliding caliper which overlaps a brake disc and is fastened to a stationary brake carrier and has a central opening above the brake disc, two brake pads arranged in the brake caliper, movable in opposite directions, each having a pad carrier plate and a friction pad fastened thereto, of which a brake pad on the action side or application side can be pressed against the brake disc by means of an application device via at least one brake piston, and at least one return device with which the brake pads can be returned after a braking-induced displacement and release of the brake, is designed such that the return device has a spreading device arranged in the opening, which engages the upper edges of the brake pads, and has at least one force storage element. An appropriate brake pad set will be provided.
[0012] DE 10 2016 117 777 A1 relates to a disc brake for a commercial vehicle, with a brake caliper designed as a sliding caliper which spans a brake disc and is fastened to a stationary brake carrier and has a central opening above the brake disc, two brake pads arranged in the brake caliper, movable in opposite directions, each having a pad carrier plate and a friction pad fastened thereto, of which a brake pad on the action side or application side can be pressed against the brake disc by means of an application device via at least one brake piston, and at least one restoring device with which the brake pads can be returned after a braking-induced displacement and release of the brake, is designed such that the restoring device has at least one restoring element attached to a brake pad, which is arranged between this brake pad and a stationary reference and exerts a restoring force on the brake pad.An appropriate set of brake pads will be provided.
[0013] DE 10 2012 102 584 A1 specifies a disc brake, in particular for a motor vehicle. The disc brake has an application device, a brake caliper, in particular a sliding caliper, which spans a brake disc, preferably a pad wear adjustment device, a brake carrier with guide surfaces lying opposite one another in the circumferential direction of the brake disc, wherein between the guide surfaces on the application side and the rear side of the brake disc, at least one brake pad with a pad carrier and at least one friction pad is guided so as to be displaceable parallel to a rotational axis of the brake disc and is actuable by an application force, and at least one return device which supports at least the rear brake pad with the pad carrier on the brake carrier, wherein the return device comprises at least two return elements which are attached to the pad carrier of at least the rear brake pad and are guided so as to be displaceable parallel to the rotational axis of the brake disc. A brake pad is also described.
[0014] EP 2 792 899 A1 describes a disc brake for a motor vehicle with a rotating brake disc; a fixed support; a brake pad that slides in the support between an active position of the support against the brake disc and an inactive position spaced from the brake disc by an operating clearance; and means for elastically returning the brake pad to its inactive position. The elastic return devices are attached to the support by means of play compensation means for brake pad wear, which plastically deform when the stroke of the brake pad exceeds the operating clearance.
[0015] WO 2016 / 202778 A1 relates to a disc brake with a brake caliper designed as a sliding caliper that spans a brake disc, is attached to a stationary brake carrier, and has a central opening above the brake disc. The disc brake comprises two brake pads arranged in the brake caliper, movable in opposite directions, each having a pad carrier plate and a friction pad attached thereto, one of which, on the action side, can be pressed against the brake disc by means of an application device via at least one brake piston, and at least one return device with which the brake caliper can be returned after a braking-induced displacement and release of the brake. The return device has a spreading device that engages the opposing brake pads and acts in the same way opposite to the respective application direction, with resilient spreading elements that engage the respective pad carrier plate. The spreading device is arranged in the central opening, with the spreading elements engaging directly or indirectly outside the friction linings on one side in the center area or on at least two contact areas of the brake linings arranged spaced apart from each other from the center. The contact areas each have a contact surface and a support surface on which the spreading elements are movably arranged. A corresponding brake pad set is provided.
[0016] WO 2006 / 136740 A1 relates to a disc brake for a vehicle comprising a seal provided with an upstream leg and a downstream leg for overlapping the brake disc. Two internal and external brake pad carriers are arranged between the upstream and downstream legs of the seal. A brake caliper serves to exert compressive forces on the brake pad carriers. The brake pad carriers are guided non-vertically by the upstream and downstream legs of the seal, and each brake pad carrier comprises at least one guide means attached to the brake pad, allowing the brake pad to be guided in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the disc. The invention can be applied to motor vehicle brakes.
[0017] US 2018 / 0106309 A1 relates to a disc brake comprising a brake caliper that engages a brake disc and is designed as a sliding caliper. The disc brake has two brake pads located in the brake caliper, which are displaceable in opposite directions and each have a pad carrier plate with a friction lining attached to it. A brake pad on the action or application side of the two brake pads can be pressed against the brake disc by a brake actuation device with the aid of at least one brake piston. The brake also includes at least one return device with which the brake caliper can be returned by a braking action after the brakes have been moved and released. The return device has a spreading device that engages the opposing brake pads and acts with the same force against the respective direction of action. The spreading device comprises spring-loaded spreading elements, each of which engages its respective pad carrier plate. The spreading device is located in the central opening, and the spreading elements engage directly or indirectly outside the friction linings in at least two contact areas of the brake pads, with the areas located opposite each other at a distance from the center. Each contact area has a contact surface and a support surface on which the spreading elements are movably arranged.
[0018] US 2016 / 0102722 A1 discloses a sliding-caliper disc brake including an outer brake shoe mounted to slide within the brake's fixed support. The disc brake includes a central external spring for returning the outer brake shoe to its inactive position, which spring is attached to an associated central portion of the outer brake shoe, a front portion of which is axially attached to an associated central portion of the fixed support. To return it to its inactive position, the inner brake shoe must move axially with the brake piston.
[0019] US 2011 / 0168503 A1 relates to a clip comprising: a body portion; one or more arms connected to and extending from the body portion; a deformable portion of the one or more arms located distal to the body portion; and a lip on one or more arms located proximate the body portion.
[0020] US 2006 / 0237269 A1 relates to a brake caliper assembly consisting of a body part, a retaining device, and a pair of brake assemblies. At least one retaining clip is coupled to each brake assembly. The retaining clip includes a first, second, and third section. The third section is adapted to contact the caliper bracket to prevent the brake pad assembly from falling into the rotor gap. The second section provides a gap between the third section and the retaining clip to provide sufficient clearance to allow proper function of the brake pad assembly while preventing the brake pad assembly from falling into the rotor gap.
[0021] US 5,549,181 A describes a retracting mechanism for a disc brake assembly that applies a generally constant restoring force that urges the brake shoes apart from each other regardless of friction lining wear. The disc brake assembly includes an anchor plate on which a brake caliper is slidably mounted. The caliper is formed with an inner leg and an outer leg. A cylindrical recess is formed in the inner leg of the caliper, within which a piston is slidably mounted. A pair of brake shoes are disposed adjacent the inner and outer legs of the caliper, and a rotor connected to a rotatable wheel extends therebetween. A mechanism is provided for selectively bringing the brake shoes into frictional engagement with the rotor to retard or stop its rotation. The retractor mechanism includes a pair of retractor clips mounted on the backing plate to spread the brake shoes apart when the disc brake assembly is subsequently released. The retractor clips are serpentine-shaped with straight sections connected by curved intermediate sections. The outer ends of the retractor clips terminate in upwardly extending post sections and outwardly extending finger sections that engage the brake shoes. The forces exerted by the retractor clips on the brake shoes are essentially uniform, regardless of the wear of the brake shoe friction linings. Such forces cannot overcome the urging of a roll-back seal and can undesirably move the piston a distance greater than a desired predetermined distance from the rotor.
[0022] JP H08-54036 A relates to a wear alarm device. In order to stop the generation of sliding contact noise and conveniently transport a vehicle to a maintenance factory, an alarm release is provided to hold the free end of a leaf spring so that the free end of the leaf spring constituting an alarm device is displaced from the wear limit point of a pad to the opposite disc side. In the wear alarm device, a floating part is provided between a fixed end and a free end, which is parallel to the back of a back plate, and a screw hole is formed therein. A screw is screwed into the screw hole to form an adjuster, which constitutes an alarm release means. A bridging force is applied to the floating part by the screw, the tip of which is brought into contact with the back plate of a pad.By elastically deforming the device under the force, the free end is pulled away from a disc. By pulling the free end, which is a sensing surface, away from the face of the disc, the alarm signal is stopped after an alarm is generated and the vehicle is transported to a maintenance facility, thus preventing any discomfort for the user.
[0023] DE 43 01 621 A1 describes a floating-caliper disc brake with a stationary brake carrier with two carrier arms projecting beyond the outer edge of a brake disc. Brake shoes are arranged on both sides of the brake disc, which are slidably supported on the carrier arms and encompassed by a floating caliper guided axially displaceably on the brake carrier. A spring arrangement acting axially on the brake shoes in the brake release direction assists in setting a clearance between the brake shoes and the brake disc after braking. The spring arrangement has at least one expanding spring, which is fastened in a completely immovable manner in the axial direction to a section of a carrier arm of the brake carrier located above the outer edge of the brake disc. The expanding spring is provided with at least two spring arms, which resiliently bear against the back plates of the brake shoes in the axial direction.
[0024] WO 2016 / 202 791 A1 relates to a disc brake with a brake calliper which spans a brake disc and has a central opening above the brake disc, and comprises two brake pads which are arranged in the brake calliper and can be moved in opposite directions, each having a pad carrier plate and a friction pad fastened thereon, of which a brake pad on the action side or application side can be pressed against the brake disc by means of an application device via at least one brake piston, and at least one return device with which the brake calliper can be returned, wherein the return device has a spreading device which engages the opposing brake pads and has the same effect opposite to the respective application direction, with resilient spreading elements which engage the respective pad carrier plate. The spreading device is arranged in the central opening, with the spreading elements engaging directly or indirectly outside the friction linings on at least two contact areas of the brake pads arranged spaced apart from each other from the center. The spreading device has spring arms that are connected to each other in the central area of the opening and to a retaining bracket attached to the brake carrier. A corresponding brake pad set is provided.
[0025] The invention is based on the object of further developing a disc brake of the generic type in such a way that, with the simplest structural means, the service life of the brake pads and the brake disc in particular is increased and the overall operating costs are reduced, whereby changing the brake pads is made easier.
[0026] Another task is to provide an appropriate set of brake pads.
[0027] This object is achieved by a disc brake having the respective features of claims 1, 3 and 5.
[0028] The further object is achieved by brake pad sets having the respective features of claims 10 to 12.
[0029] A disc brake according to the invention for a commercial vehicle comprises a brake caliper which spans a brake disc and is designed as a sliding caliper and is fastened to a stationary brake carrier, two brake pads which are arranged in the brake caliper and can be moved in opposite directions, each having a pad carrier plate and a friction pad fastened thereon, of which a brake pad on the action side or application side can be pressed against the brake disc by means of an application device via at least one brake piston, wherein the brake pads are each received in a pad shaft of the stationary brake carrier, wherein the pad shaft is defined by two opposing brake carrier horns and a longitudinal connector connecting the brake carrier horns, and at least one pad return device with which the brake pads can be returned after a braking-induced displacement and release of the brake. At least one of the brake pads is assigned a pad return device with which the at least one brake pad can be returned after a braking-related displacement and release of the brake.
[0030] By assigning a respective pad reset device to each of the two brake pads, it is possible to distribute the reset elements of the pad reset device to the respective brake pad. This distribution has the advantage that no elements for resetting the brake pads are required in the area where the brake disc overlaps. This simplifies brake pad replacement, as no reset elements or devices in the area where the brake disc overlaps need to be removed and reinstalled.
[0031] A further advantage is that by returning the brake pads from the brake disc using the respective pad return device, residual drag of the respective brake pad on the brake disc can be eliminated or at least significantly reduced. This can extend the service life of the friction partners, the brake pads and brake disc, and reduce fuel consumption.
[0032] Corresponding brake pad sets are provided for the disc brake described above, comprising at least two brake pads, each with a pad carrier plate and a friction pad mounted on the pad carrier plate. The brake pad set has at least one pad reset device with at least one reset element for a corresponding brake pad. In one embodiment, conventional brake pads can advantageously be used without modification, with only the reset elements needing to be added when replacing or refitting.
[0033] In a first embodiment of the disc brake according to the invention, the pad return device of the associated brake pad has two return elements, each of which is attached to one of the opposing brake carrier horns of a pad shaft of the stationary brake carrier. Changing the brake pads is advantageously not necessary. A further advantage is that the return elements can be easily applied to the brake carrier horns.
[0034] A particular advantage is that it can be easily retrofitted, as no modifications or changes to the existing disc brake are necessary.
[0035] In the first embodiment of the invention, it is advantageous that the return elements each have a spring arm and holding sections, with the respective spring arm being attached to one of the holding sections. This results in a compact component. Furthermore, only one version is required, since the return element can be mounted in an inverted manner on the opposite brake carrier horn.
[0036] Furthermore, the first embodiment of the invention provides that the return elements, with their respective holding sections, are pushed onto and secured on the respective brake carrier flange of the pad shaft, with the spring arms each projecting into the pad shaft. This allows for simple and quick installation.
[0037] For an advantageously simplified attachment, the respective holding sections of the return elements in the first embodiment according to the invention can form a type of clamp and can be attached to the respective brake carrier horn of the pad shaft by clamping.
[0038] In a further refinement of the first embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the spring arms of the return elements are in contact with a pad carrier plate of the associated brake pad, which is arranged in the pad shaft between the brake carrier horns, in such a way that the respective spring arm is in contact with the pad carrier plate in a central region of an edge of a side surface of the pad carrier plate due to the action of a spring force of the spring arm. This enables easy installation of the brake pads.
[0039] In a second embodiment of the invention, the pad return device of the associated brake pad has at least one return element, which is attached to a longitudinal connector of a pad shaft of the stationary brake carrier. This results in the advantage of a minimal number of components, since only one return element needs to be installed.
[0040] Furthermore, in the second embodiment of the invention, the return element comprises a pressure section, a spring section, and holding sections, wherein the pressure section has a winding that is attached to one end of a first holding section via the spring section. This results in a compact component.
[0041] Furthermore, the second embodiment of the invention provides that the return element, with its holding sections, is mounted in a clamp-like manner around the longitudinal connector of the brake carrier and is fixed to the longitudinal connector by the clamping action of the holding sections. This allows for simple installation.
[0042] In yet another embodiment of the second embodiment of the invention, the pressure section and the spring section are arranged on the upper side of the longitudinal connector and in a recess of the friction lining of the associated brake pad, wherein the pressure section is in contact with a contact surface of a lining side of the lining carrier plate of the associated brake pad due to the action of a spring force of the spring section. The recess enables advantageously simple installation of the brake pad.
[0043] In a further alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, the pad return device of the associated brake pad has at least two return elements, which are attached both to the associated brake pad and fixedly to the respective brake carrier horns. An advantage here is that the return elements are already securely attached to the respective brake pad.
[0044] In the alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, the return element has a spring section, at each end of which a fastening section is attached. This results in a compact design.
[0045] In the alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, it is advantageous if the spring section consists of a meandering folded spring steel, with folds located in planes that run perpendicular to the planes of the fastening sections. This ensures functionality over a longer spring travel.
[0046] In a further embodiment of the alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, the return element is fastened with one end via one fastening section to the pad back plate of the associated brake pad on the back side thereof and with the other end via the other fastening section in a fixed position to the brake carrier horn of the associated pad shaft of the brake carrier.
[0047] In a third embodiment of the invention, the pad return device of the associated brake pad comprises at least one return element, which is attached to the pad carrier plate of the associated brake pad. This provides advantageous security against loss of the return element.
[0048] In a configuration of the third embodiment of the invention, the return element comprises a cylindrical pin, a support arm, and a force storage element, with the return element being installed in a lower region of the brake pad. This results in advantageous space savings.
[0049] In a further refinement of the third embodiment of the invention, the cylindrical pin of the return element has a head at one end whose diameter is larger than the diameter of the cylindrical pin, and is connected to the support arm at the other end. The force storage element is slid onto the cylindrical pin and arranged circumferentially around the cylindrical pin between its head and the support arm. This enables an advantageous, compact design.
[0050] Furthermore, in a further embodiment of the third embodiment according to the invention, it is provided that the return element is installed in a lower region of the brake pad in such a way that a section of the cylindrical pin with the head and the force storage element are arranged in a recess in the friction pad and in a recess in the pad carrier plate communicating therewith, wherein the force storage element is supported with one end on the head of the cylindrical pin and with its other end on a wall section of the pad carrier plate, wherein the cylindrical pin extends in a displaceable manner through a through-hole in the wall section and with its other end, to which the support arm is attached, protrudes from a back side of the pad carrier plate. This results in a space-saving installation.
[0051] For support and stationary attachment, it is advantageous in a further embodiment of the third embodiment according to the invention if the support arm has a body, a connecting end and an end section, wherein the body is firmly connected to the connecting end with the other end of the cylindrical pin, and wherein the body extends over the longitudinal connector of the brake carrier and is adapted in its shape to the outer contour of the longitudinal connector of the brake carrier, wherein a free end of the body is bent as the end section around a lower edge of the longitudinal connector of the brake carrier, whereby the support arm thus forms a stationary support of the return element.
[0052] Yet another alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, provides that the pad return device of the associated brake pad has at least one return element, which is attached to the back of the pad carrier plate of the associated brake pad. This results in a compact design and easy installation.
[0053] It is advantageous if the return element, in the further alternative embodiment not forming part of the invention, is designed as an elongated leaf spring element made of spring steel and is attached centrally in the lower region of the lining carrier plate via a fastening element on the back side. This allows for a space-saving design and a flat configuration.
[0054] In a further embodiment, which is not part of the invention, the return element has a central fastening section, with which it is fastened via the fastening element to the back side of the pad carrier plate of the associated brake pad, and wherein three spring sections are attached to each end of the central fastening section. This is advantageous because it results in a simple structure.
[0055] Furthermore, in an alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, it is provided that the return element extends symmetrically to a symmetry axis running radially to a brake disc rotation axis, which runs centrally through the fastening element, tangentially to the brake disc beyond a respective side edge of the pad carrier plate and beyond the respective associated brake carrier flange. This allows for simple, stationary support.
[0056] For this purpose, it is advantageously provided in an alternative embodiment, which is not part of the invention, that the respective third spring sections of the return element, which extend beyond the respective associated brake carrier horn, rest on the respective associated brake carrier horn on its outer contour and form a stationary support of the return element.
[0057] In a further embodiment of corresponding brake pad sets, these each have at least one pad return device described above with one or two return elements for an associated brake pad.
[0058] Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.
[0059] Embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0060] They show: Fig. 1 a schematic perspective view of an embodiment of a disc brake according to the invention with a pad return device; Fig. 2-3 schematic perspective views of a brake carrier of the disc brake according to Fig. 1 with the pad reset device; Fig. 4-5 schematic perspective partial views of a first variant of the pad return device of the disc brake according to Fig. 1 with; Fig. 6 a schematic perspective view of a return element of the variant of the pad return device according to Fig. 4-5; Fig. 7 a schematic perspective partial view of a second variant of the pad return device of the disc brake according to Fig. 1 in an alternative embodiment which is not part of the invention; Fig. 8 a schematic perspective partial view of a third variant of the pad return device of the disc brake according to Fig. 1 in an alternative embodiment which is not part of the invention; Fig. 9 a schematic perspective view of a return element of the third variant of the pad return device according to Fig. 8 in an alternative embodiment which is not part of the invention; Fig. 10 a schematic perspective partial view of a fourth variant of the pad return device of the disc brake according to Fig. 1; and Fig. 11 a schematic perspective view of a return element of the fourth variant of the pad return device according to Fig. 10, and Fig. 12 a schematic perspective view of another embodiment of the disc brake according to the invention with the pad return device.
[0061] Coordinates x, y, and z are used for orientation. The x-coordinate runs in the direction of travel of a vehicle to which the disc brake 1 is assigned. The y-coordinate runs in the direction of a brake disc axis 2a, and the z-coordinate runs perpendicular to an xy-plane.
[0062] The terms “top”, “bottom”, “left”, “right” refer to the respective arrangements in the figures.
[0063] An "upper side" and a "lower side" of a brake pad 5, 5' or a pad carrier plate 4 always refer to the installation situation of the respective brake pad 5, 5'. The lower side of the respective brake pad 5, 5' is located radially closer to a brake disc rotation axis 2a of a brake disc 2 than the upper side of this brake pad 5, 5'.
[0064] The term "transverse axis" of the brake pad 5, 5' refers to an imaginary axis which, when the brake pad 5, 5' is installed, runs radially to the brake disc rotation axis 2a in the z-direction. A "longitudinal axis" of the brake pad 5, 5' thus runs perpendicular to the transverse axis and tangential to the brake disc 2 in the x-direction.
[0065] Fig. 1 shows a schematic perspective view of an embodiment of a disc brake 1 according to the invention with a pad return device 100. In the Fig. 2-3 show schematic perspective views of a brake carrier 3 of the disc brake 1 Fig. 1 with the pad reset device 100.
[0066] The disc brake 1 comprises a brake disc 2 with a brake disc rotation axis 2a, a brake carrier 3, a brake calliper 4, and two brake pads 5, 5' arranged on both sides of the brake disc 2.
[0067] The brake carrier 3 is fixedly mounted on a vehicle to which the disc brake 1 is assigned. The brake carrier 3 forms a mount for the brake caliper 4 and the brake pads 5, 5'.
[0068] The brake caliper 4 engages over the brake disc 2 and, as a so-called sliding caliper, is mounted on the brake carrier 3 so that it can be displaced axially relative to the brake disc 2 in the direction of the brake disc rotation axis 2a. For this purpose, the brake caliper 4 is mounted on the brake carrier 3 so that it can be displaced axially by bearing sections on guide rails that are connected to the brake carrier 3.
[0069] The brake caliper 4 comprises an application section 4a, a back section 4b, and two tension struts 4c. The application section 4a runs with one side parallel to the plane of the brake disc 2 on one side of the brake disc 2. On the other side of the brake disc 2, the back section 4b is arranged, also running parallel to the brake disc 2, and is connected to the application section 4a at one end via a tension strut 4c. The tension struts 4c run essentially at right angles to the application section 4a and to the back section 4b. The application section 4a has an interior in which an application device (not shown) of the disc brake 1 is arranged.
[0070] A brake pad 5, 5' is arranged on each side of the brake disc 2. The brake pad 5 arranged between the brake disc 2 and the application section 4a of the brake caliper 4 is referred to as the action-side or application-side brake pad. The other brake pad 6' is arranged between the brake disc 2 and the back section 4b and is referred to as the back-side or reaction-side brake pad 5' and is distinguished from the application-side brake pad 5 by the reference symbol 5'. The reference symbols of the components and functional groups located on the side of the brake disc 2 facing the back section 4b of the brake caliper 4 are marked with an apostrophe.
[0071] At least one of the brake pads 5, 5' is assigned a pad return device 100, with which the at least one brake pad 5, 5' can be returned after a braking-related displacement and release of the brake. Thus, each brake pad 5, 5' can also be equipped with a pad return device 100, whereby the disc brake 1 can then have two pad return devices 100.
[0072] The pad return device 100 comprises at least one resilient component which is arranged between a brake pad 5, 5' and a stationary component of the disc brake 1. These resilient components are shown in the exemplary embodiment in Fig. 1 hidden by the surrounding components and best placed in the Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 can be recognized. Fig. 1 primarily serves to provide an overview and arrangement of the components of the disc brake 1.
[0073] Fig. 2 shows a schematic perspective view of the brake carrier 3 of the disc brake 1 according to Fig. 1 with the backside brake pad 5' and the pad return device 100. The other side of the brake carrier 3, which faces the brake application section 4a of the brake calliper 4, is referred to as the fastening side and is attached to a stationary part of an associated vehicle. In Fig. 3 is the brake carrier 3 after Fig. 2 with the pad return device 100 without brake pad 5'.
[0074] Each brake pad 5, 5' has a pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a and, on the side facing the brake disc 2, called the pad side 5c, 5'c, a friction pad 5b, 5'b attached thereto, which is pressed against the brake disc 2 during operation, i.e., during braking. The other side of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a is referred to as the pressure side 5d for the brake pad 5 on the application side, and as the back side 16 for the brake pad 5 on the back side. Thus, the brake pad 5 on the application side is operatively connected with its back side 5d to the application device of the disc brake 1, with the back side 16 of the back side brake pad 5' being in contact with the inside of the back section 4b of the brake caliper 4.
[0075] The pad carrier plates 5a, 5'a of the brake pads 5, 5' each have two side surfaces 8 and support surfaces 7b on their undersides.
[0076] The brake carrier 3 has two lining shafts 6, 6'. Each lining shaft is defined laterally by brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b and at the bottom by a bridge connector 3c, 3'c. The bridge connectors 3c, 3'c each connect the two respective brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b in their lower regions.
[0077] A brake pad 5, 5' is arranged in each pad shaft 6, 6'. Each brake pad 5, 5' rests with its respective side surfaces 8 against inner surfaces 7 of the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b, with each brake pad 5, 5' resting with its bearing surfaces 7b on respective bearing surfaces 7a of a respective base of the respective pad shaft 6, 6' of the brake carrier 3. The base of the respective pad shaft 6, 6' is formed by the bridge connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3.
[0078] The brake pads 5, 5' are arranged in the pad shafts 6, 6' parallel to the brake disc rotation axis 2a in the y-direction and are guided on the support surfaces 7a between the inner surfaces 7 of the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b.
[0079] A pad retaining bracket BE ( Fig. 1) is arranged above the brake pads 5, 5', parallel to the brake disc rotation axis in the y-direction, the application section 4a and the back section 4b of the brake caliper 4. Here, the pad retaining bracket BE presses with sections of its underside on pad retaining springs 9, 9' of both brake pads 5, 5', whereby the brake pads 5, 5' are held in their pad shafts 6, 6'.
[0080] During braking, the brake pads 5, 5' can be pressed against the brake disc 2 on both sides, being displaced in the y-direction. For replacement, the brake pads 5, 5' can be removed from and reinserted into their corresponding pad wells 6, 6' in the z-direction.
[0081] Braking is achieved by means of the application device, e.g., a brake lever, located in a receiving space in the application section 4a of the brake caliper 4. The application-side brake pad 5 initially contacts the brake disc 2 during braking. Subsequently, the brake caliper 4 is displaced in the opposite direction by the reaction forces occurring, taking with it the rear-side brake pad 5', until it also comes into frictional contact with the brake disc 2.
[0082] After the brake is released, the two opposing brake pads 5, 5' are released from the brake disc 2 by means of the pad return device 100 to such an extent that the brake disc runs freely relative to the brake pads 5, 5'.
[0083] In this way, by returning the brake pads 5, 5' from the brake disc 2 by means of the pad return device 100, residual drag of the respective brake pad 5, 5' on the brake disc 2 can be eliminated or at least significantly reduced. The service life of the friction partners, the brake pads 5, 5' and the brake disc 2, is thus increased, and fuel consumption is reduced.
[0084] The pad return device 100 exerts a force on each brake pad 5, 5', which is referred to below as the return force. This return force moves the respective brake pad 5, 5' as well as the brake caliper 4 via the back-side brake pad 5 in the direction of the brake disc rotation axis 2a away from the brake disc 2. In other words, the brake pad 3 on the application side is displaced by the brake disc 2 in the opposite direction to an application force of the application device onto the application section 4a of the brake caliper 4, wherein the back-side brake pad 5' is displaced by the brake disc 2 together with the brake caliper 4 in the y-direction in a direction of movement opposite to the application-side brake pad 5.
[0085] The restoring force of the pad return device 100 is generated by one or more return elements 10, 13, 18, 19, 21, which are preloaded between the respective brake pad 5, 5' and a stationary reference. The stationary reference refers to components of the disc brake 1 that are fixedly connected to the associated vehicle, such as the brake carrier 3.
[0086] The restoring force can be applied to the respective brake pad 5, 5' as a tensile and / or compressive force.
[0087] To apply the restoring force to the respective brake pad 5, 5', the pad return device 100 engages the respective brake pad 5, 5', for example, centrally at an edge region (side edge and / or lower edge) of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a or symmetrically at two lateral contact areas on the right and left. The contact areas can also be located directly at the respective corner sections of the pad carrier plates 5a, 5a at the bottom. It is of course also possible for the contact points or areas on the respective pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a to be arranged arbitrarily, e.g., centrally between a respective side and a central point.
[0088] In the Fig. 2 and Fig. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the force storage elements of the pad return device 100 are designed as return elements 10 and each engage in a central region of a respective side edge of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a of a brake pad 5, 5'.
[0089] In this embodiment, the pad return device 100 comprises two return elements 10 per pad shaft 6, 6'. Here, one return element 10 is attached to each brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b. Fig. 2 and Fig. Figure 3 shows the rear-side lining shaft 6'. The following explanations for this rear-side lining shaft 6' also apply to the tension-side lining shaft 6.
[0090] The reset elements 10 are constructed identically. Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 left return element 10 described as representative of all return elements 10.
[0091] The return element 10 comprises a spring arm 10a and four holding sections 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e. The spring arm 10a has a free end and is connected at the other end to the first holding section 10b. An angle between the spring arm 10a and the first holding section 10b is greater than 90°, for example, 110° to 130°. The other end of the first holding section 10b is connected to the second holding section 10c, which protrudes from the first holding section 10b on the same side as the spring arm 10a and forms an angle of approximately 135° to 155° with the first holding section. The second holding section 10c is inclined away from the spring arm 10a. The second holding section 10c merges into the third holding section 10d, wherein the third holding section 10d extends at an angle of approximately 90° to the first holding section 10b.Finally, the third holding section 10d merges into the fourth holding section 10e, which is attached to it at approximately a right angle and which runs towards the spring arm 10a.
[0092] A length of the spring arm 10a corresponds approximately to a length of the inner surface 7 of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b in the y-direction, i.e. in the direction of the brake disc rotation axis 2a. A length of the first holding section 10b corresponds approximately to a quarter of the length of the spring arm 10a or a length of a central outer section of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b in the y-direction in a central region. The angled second holding section 10c has approximately two-thirds the length of the spring arm 10a, with the lengths of the third and fourth holding sections 10d, 10e being approximately the same. Since the return element 10 on the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b is pushed on and fastened, e.g. by clamping, the lengths specified above can vary depending on the outer contour of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b.
[0093] The return element 10 is manufactured here as a one-piece stamped and bent part, e.g. from a flat spring steel with a rectangular cross-section.
[0094] In the assembled state, the holding sections 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e encompass the outer contour of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b in the manner of a clamp. The first holding section 10b is arranged on the outer side of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b and points either towards the back section 4b or the application section 4a of the brake caliper 4. The fourth holding section 10e is arranged approximately parallel to the first holding section 10b on the side of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b which faces the brake disc 2. The spring arm 10a is inclined from the inner surface 7 of the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b spring into the pad shaft 6, 6', with the free end of the spring arm 10a pointing towards the brake disc 2.
[0095] When the associated brake pad 5, 5' is inserted into the respective pad slot 6, 6', its side surfaces 8 press the respective spring arm 10a against its spring force in the direction of the respective inner surface 7 of the respective associated brake carrier horn 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b, whereby the respective spring arm 10a is tensioned. During a braking operation, the brake pads 5, 5' are pressed further in the y-direction against the brake disc 2, whereby the spring arms 10a are then pressed by the side surfaces 8 of the brake pads 5, 5' until they rest against the inner surfaces 7 of the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b and are further tensioned.
[0096] When the brake is released, the brake pads 5, 5' are then returned to their original positions by the previously tensioned spring arms 10a of the pad return device 100. This is achieved by a force component of the spring force of the spring arms 10a, which acts in the y-direction away from the brake disc 2. The spring arms 10a are in contact with the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a of the respective brake pad 5, 5' in such a way that they engage the edge of the side surfaces 8 in a central region of the sides. In other words, for each pad shaft 6, 6', the return elements 10 engage on both sides of the shaft 6, 6' via the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b and, through the respective angled spring arm 10a, effect the return action on the respective brake pad 5, 5'.
[0097] The return elements 10 exert compressive forces on the brake pad 5, 5' with their spring arms 10a.
[0098] It is also conceivable that the spring elements 10 are designed with more than one spring arm 10a.
[0099] The brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b can be machined accordingly for better engagement of the retaining sections 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e. The inner surface 7 can also have a groove 7c corresponding to the spring arm 10a, in which the spring arm 10a is received in the tensioned state with the brake pad 5, 5' inserted and the brake applied.
[0100] In this example, the pad reset device 100 is attached to the brake carrier 3. The brake pads 5, 5' are unchanged in this design.
[0101] In the Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 are schematic perspective partial views of a first variant of the pad return device 100 of the disc brake 1 according to Fig. 1 shown. Fig. 6 shows a schematic perspective view of a return element 13 of the variant of the lining return device 100 according to Fig. 4 and Fig. 5.
[0102] In the first variant of the pad reset device 100, the brake pads 5, 5' are provided with reset elements 13, whereby the brake carrier 3 can remain unchanged. Thus, the pad reset device 100 here has one reset element 13 per brake pad 5, 5'. Fig. 4 shows the back-side brake pad 5' with the back section 4b and a tension strut 4c of the brake calliper 4 and the back-side longitudinal connector 3'c of the brake carrier 3 in a sectional plane which lies in the brake disc rotation axis 2a and runs along it. Fig. Figure 5 shows a brake pad 5, 5' generally in a perspective view with a section through the median plane as in Fig. 4.
[0103] The return element 13 is installed centrally in a lower region of the brake pad 5, 5' in a center plane that also runs through the brake disc rotation axis 2a. A first part of the return element 13 is arranged in one of two recesses 11, 12 of the brake pad 5, 5'. A second part of the return element 13 is located on the back side 16 of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5a and is in contact with the stationary longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3. This will be described in more detail below.
[0104] The recesses 11, 12 here have a circular cross-section and communicate with one another, being arranged coaxially one behind the other in the y-direction. Starting from the friction side (i.e. the contact side of the friction lining 5b, 5'b, which is brought into contact with the brake disc 2 during braking) of the friction lining 5b, 5'b of the brake pad 5, 5', the first recess 11 extends through the friction lining 5b, 5'b and then merges into the second recess 12 in the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a. The second recess 12 extends approximately over three-quarters of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a from the pad side 5c, 5'c to a wall section 12a of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a and then merges into a through hole 12b with a smaller diameter. The through hole 12b extends through the wall section 12a of the lining carrier plate 5a, 5'a to its back side 16, 5d.
[0105] The return element 13 comprises a cylindrical pin 13a, a support arm 14 and a force storage element 15.
[0106] The cylindrical pin 13a of the return element 13 is a bolt with a circular cross-section and has a head 13b at one end, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the cylindrical pin 13a. The other end of the cylindrical pin 13a is designated as the end section 13c and is connected to the support arm 14. The force storage element 15, here in the form of a compression spring, is pushed onto the cylindrical pin 13a and arranged circumferentially therearound between the head 13b and the support arm 14, extending approximately over two-thirds of the length of the cylindrical pin 13a and resting at one end on the head 13b of the cylindrical pin 13a. The other end of the force storage element 15 rests within the second recess 12 on the inside of the wall section 12a of the lining carrier plate 5a, 5'a when the return element 13 is installed.
[0107] In the installed state, the first part of the return element 13, which here comprises approximately two-thirds of the length of the cylindrical pin 13a, the head 13b, and the force storage element 15, as already mentioned above, is arranged in the recesses 11, 12. The other third of the cylindrical pin 13 extends through the through-hole 12b, with the end section 13c of the cylindrical pin 13a protruding from the back side 16, 5d and being connected to the support arm 14. The cylindrical pin 13a is guided in the through-hole 12b so as to be displaceable in its longitudinal direction, which runs parallel to the brake disc rotation axis 2a.
[0108] The support arm 14 is made of a flat metal material, e.g., spring steel, here with a rectangular cross-section, with a body 14a, a connecting end 14b, and an end portion 14c. The body 14a is firmly connected to the connecting end 14b, which is square here, with the end portion 13c of the cylindrical pin 13a. This connection is made after inserting the cylindrical pin 13a and force spring element 15 into the recesses 11, 12, with the end portion 13c protruding from the through hole 12b and then being connected to the connecting end 14b of the support arm 14, e.g., by welding, riveting, or the like.
[0109] When the return element 13 is installed, the body 14a of the support arm 14 extends in the z-direction toward the brake disc rotation axis 2a over the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3 and is adapted in shape to the outer contour of the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3. In this case, the body 14a is bent away from the brake disc 2. A free end of the body 14a is bent toward the brake disc 2 as the end section 14c and is bent around a lower edge of the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3.
[0110] In this way, the support arm 14 forms a support for the cylindrical pin 13a of the return element 13 in the y-direction parallel to the brake disc rotation axis 2a, in each case in the direction toward the brake disc 2. Thus, the return element 13 of the brake pad 5, 5' is arranged in a stationary manner.
[0111] The force for resetting the brake pad 5, 5' and the brake caliper 4 is ensured by the force storage element 15. When the brake is applied, the brake pad 5, 5' is pressed against the brake disc 2 and against the force of the force storage element 15 of the return element 13, whereby the force storage element 15 is tensioned. This is made possible by the force storage element 15 resting on the wall section 12a of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a being pressed against the head 13b of the cylindrical pin 13a fixed by the support arm 14. The force storage element 15 can also be installed preloaded.
[0112] When the brake is released, the force stored in the tensioned energy storage element 15 acts in the direction of the brake disc axis 2a in the y-direction such that the brake pad 5, 5' is returned to its original position. The stored force acts as a compressive force on the brake pad 5, 5' via the wall section 12a of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a, with the energy storage element 15 being supported on the head 13b of the cylindrical pin 13a, which is held stationary by the support arm 14.
[0113] In this example, only one return element 13 is provided. However, it is also conceivable that two or more return elements 13 are distributed over the lower edge of the lining carrier plate 5a, 5'a.
[0114] Fig. 7 shows a schematic perspective partial view of a second variant of the pad return device 100 of the disc brake 1 according to Fig. 1 in an alternative embodiment which is not part of the invention.
[0115] The second variant of the pad return device 100 has a return element 18 for each brake pad 5, 5', which is attached to the back side 16, 5d of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a of the brake pad 5, 5'. Fig. As an example, Figure 7 shows a view of the back side 16 of the pad carrier plate 5'a of the back-side brake pad 5', which is located in the corresponding pad slot 6' of the brake carrier 3 between the brake carrier horns 3'a, 3'b. The description also applies analogously to the brake pad 5 on the application side. The brake pad 5' rests with its side surfaces 8 against the inner surfaces 7 of the brake carrier horns 3'a, 3'b and rests with its contact surfaces 7b on the contact surfaces 7a of the brake carrier 3.
[0116] The return element 18 of the pad return device 100 is designed here as an elongated leaf spring element made of spring steel with a rectangular cross-section and is fastened centrally in the lower region of the pad carrier plate 5'a via a fastening element 17 to the pad carrier plate 5'a on its back side 16. The return element 18 extends symmetrically to an axis of symmetry which runs in the z-direction, ie radial to the brake disc rotation axis 2a, centrally through the fastening element 17, to the left and right, ie tangential to the brake disc 2, beyond the respective side edge of the pad carrier plate 5'a to approximately beyond the respective brake carrier horn 3'a, 3'b.
[0117] In this second variant, the return element 18 comprises a central fastening section 18a, to which three spring sections 18b, 18c, 18d are attached at each end.
[0118] The fastening section 18a is firmly connected to the lining carrier plate 5a, 5'a via the fastening element 17, e.g. in a press fit. The ends of the fastening section 18a are bent away from the back side 16. These bends each merge into the ends of the first spring sections 18b, with the first spring sections 18b then bulging outwards, i.e. protruding further from the back side, and then being bent again with their ends towards the back side 16. At each of these ends of the first spring sections 18b, a second, shorter spring section 18c is attached, which is curved towards the back side 16, rests with its curvature partly on the back side 16, then is bent outwards again with its end and merges into the respective third spring section 18d. The spring sections 18d are bent in such a way that their curvatures protrude from the back side 16 and their ends rest on the outer contour of the respective brake carrier horn 3'a, 3'b.This provides a stationary support for the pad return device 100 with the return element 18.
[0119] In an embodiment not shown but easily conceivable, two or more return elements 18 can be arranged one above the other in the z-direction. It is also conceivable for the return element 18 to have two or more spring sections 18d on each side.
[0120] When the brake is applied, the brake pad 5, 5' is pressed against the brake disc 2 against the spring force of the return element 18, whereby the return element 18 is tensioned. It can also be pre-tensioned. The return element 18 is designed such that it enables lateral support with its third spring sections 18d on the brake carrier horns 3'a, 3'b. This support creates a resilient effect between the brake pads 5, 5', which are movable in the y-direction, and the stationary brake carrier 3, and the return function of the pad return device 100 is realized by means of the return elements 18.
[0121] When the brake is released, the force stored in the tensioned return element 18 acts in the direction of the brake disc axis 2a in the y-direction via the fastening section 18a on the brake pad 5, 5' such that the brake pad 5, 5' is returned to its original position by the brake disc 2. Tensile forces act through the tensioned return element 18 to return the brake pad 5, 5'.
[0122] Machining of the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b is not required. Nevertheless, it is conceivable that they may have a receiving or support surface for contact with the third spring sections 18d of the return element 18.
[0123] In Fig. 8 is a schematic perspective partial view of a third variant of the pad return device 100 of the disc brake 1 according to Fig. 1 shown. Fig. 9 shows a schematic perspective view of a return element 19 of the third variant of the lining return device 100 according to Fig. 8. The Fig. 8 and Fig. 9 each show an alternative embodiment which is not part of the invention.
[0124] In the third variant, the pad return device 100 has two return elements 19 per brake pad 5, 5', which are fastened both to the respective brake pad 5, 5' and to the respective associated brake carrier horns 3a, 3b; 3'a, 3'b.
[0125] Fig. 8 shows an example of a part of the brake pad 5 on the application side with the associated brake carrier horn 3a of the pad shaft 3. The description also applies analogously to the back-side brake pad 5'.
[0126] The return elements 19 are attached, on the one hand, to the sides of the back side 5d of the lining carrier plate 5a, approximately in a central area. On the other hand, the return elements 19 are attached to the outer sides of the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b. In the Fig. In the example shown in Figure 8, the return elements 19 are fixed in a foot region of the brake carrier horns 3a, 3b to the brake carrier 3, i.e. below the center in the z-direction.
[0127] A structure of the return element 19 is shown in Fig. 9 shown in perspective. The return element 19 has a spring portion 19a, at each end of which a fastening portion 19b is attached, here in the form of a tab with a fastening hole 19c.
[0128] The spring section 19a here consists of a meandering, folded spring steel made from a flat material. The folds lie in planes that run perpendicular to the planes of the fastening sections 19b. The folded design of the spring section 19a makes it possible to ensure the functionality of the return element 19 over a longer spring travel.
[0129] The fastening sections 19b enable the return element 19 to be fastened with one end to the pad backing plate 5a on its rear side 5d and with the other end to the brake carrier horn 3a, 3b. The fastening is implemented here, for example, by means of rivets and / or screws, each of which extends through the fastening hole 19c and forms a respective fastening point 20, 20a. It is, of course, also possible for the fastening to be implemented in different forms, e.g., a press fit.
[0130] Furthermore, it is conceivable that not only one return element 19, but two or more can be provided per side.
[0131] In the Fig. In the example shown in Figure 8, an imaginary longitudinal axis of the return element 19 runs through the fastening holes 19c in an xz plane. When assembled, the return element 19 is arranged such that the imaginary longitudinal axis is inclined at a specific angle relative to the x-axis. The fastening point 20 of the return element 19 on the pad backing plate 5a of the brake pad 5 is located in the positive z-direction above the fastening point 20a of the return element 19 on the associated brake carrier horn 3a, 3b.
[0132] When the brake is applied, the brake pad 5, 5' is pressed against the brake disc 2 and against the spring force of the return element 19, which acts as a tensile force, tensioning the return element 19. A tensile force is exerted at both attachment points 20, 20a. The return element 19 can also be pre-tensioned.
[0133] When the brake is released, the force stored in the tensioned return element 19 acts in the direction of the brake disc axis 2a in the y-direction via one fastening section 19b at the fastening point 20 onto the brake pad 5, 5' and via the other fastening section 19b at the fastening point 20a onto the stationary brake carrier horn 3a, 3b. The brake pad 5, 5' is then returned to its original position by the brake disc 2. The tensile forces act through the tensioned return element 19 to return the brake pad 5, 5'.
[0134] The Fig. The application-side brake pad 5 shown in Figure 8 has, in the central region of each of its sides, a lug-shaped recess (not labeled), which extends towards the center of the brake pad 5. This forms a lateral projection on both sides of the brake pad 5. The associated brake carrier horns 3a, 3b each have a lug protruding into the pad shaft 6, which is received in the respective lug-shaped recess of the brake pad 5. The brake pad 5 is inserted axially into the pad shaft 6 in the direction of the brake disc rotation axis 2a, parallel to the latter, but not radially from above. The lateral projections of the brake pad 5 are thus received in a respective recess of the associated brake carrier horn 3a, 3b below the lug protruding into the pad shaft 6.In this way, this brake pad 5 on the application side only has one degree of freedom of axial displacement parallel to the brake disc rotation axis 2a, whereby this brake pad 5 on the application side is held radially.
[0135] Fig. 10 shows a schematic perspective partial view of a fourth variant of the pad return device 100 of the disc brake 1 according to Fig. 1. In Fig. 11 is a schematic perspective view of a return element 21 of the fourth variant of the lining return device 100 according to Fig. 10 shown.
[0136] The pad return device 100 of the fourth variant comprises a return element 21 per brake pad 5, 5', which is fixedly attached to the associated longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3.
[0137] Fig. 10 shows an example of a part of a brake pad 5, 5' with the associated longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3. The description applies to the brake pad 5' on the application side and the back side. Fig. 10 shows a section in an xz-plane in the brake disc rotation axis 2a and thus through the center of the brake pad 5, 5' as well as the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3.
[0138] The return element 21 is arranged above the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c in its center and is clamped to the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c. It thus forms a fixed attachment. Furthermore, the return element 21 is in contact with the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a of the brake pad 5, 5' and, at this interface, exerts a return action on the brake pad 5, 5' and the brake caliper 4.
[0139] The return element 21 of the fourth variant comprises a pressure section 21a, a spring section 21b and five holding sections 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f, 21g.
[0140] The pressure section 21a here consists of a winding that is attached to one end of the first holding section 21c via the spring section 21b. The beginning of the winding forms a free end, which lies in the center of the winding. The other end of the winding has an arc with a radius that is significantly larger than the winding radius. This arc forms the spring section 21b, is bent downwards, and merges into the oppositely bent, short first holding section 21c. Attached to the first holding section 21c is the second holding section 21d, which is bent downwards at a right angle and has approximately the same length as the first holding section 21c. The lower end of the second holding section 21d is connected to one end of the third holding section 21e, which runs at a right angle to the second holding section 21d and parallel to the first holding section 21c.The length of the third holding section 21e corresponds approximately to four times the length of the second holding section 21d. The other end of the third holding section 21e merges into the attached fourth holding section 21f in a curve. The fourth holding section 21f extends upwards at a right angle to the third holding section 21e. The length of the fourth holding section 21f corresponds to the length of the second holding section 21e, to which the fourth holding section 21f also runs parallel. The upper end of the fourth holding section 21f is adjoined by the fifth holding section 21g, which extends at a right angle to the fourth holding section 21f, is approximately half the length of the second holding section 21c or the fourth holding section 21f, and is parallel to the third holding section 21e.
[0141] In other words, the holding sections 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f, 21g form a C-shape. The spring section 21b is integrally formed with the pressure section 21a on one of the short legs of the C-shape via the first holding section 21c. A center of the pressure section 21a lies approximately opposite the center of the long leg of the C-shape, which is formed by the third holding section 21e.
[0142] The relative length specifications for the holding sections 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f, 21g are only examples and correspond to the outer contour of the respective longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c to which the return element 21 is attached.
[0143] The return element 21 is here a flat spring steel with a rectangular cross-section and is formed in one piece as a stamped and bent part, wherein the pressure section 21a is rolled.
[0144] When installed, the return element 21 with its holding sections 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f, 21g is clamped around the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3 and is fixed thereto by the clamping action of the holding sections 21c, 21d, 21e, 21f, 21g. The pressure section 21a and the spring section 21b are arranged on the upper side of the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c and in a recess 11a of the friction lining 5b, 5'b of the brake pad 5, 5'. The pressure section 21a is in contact with a contact surface 22 of the lining side 5c, 5'c of the lining carrier plate 5a, 5'a of the brake pad 5, 5' in the lower region. The return element 21 can also be installed under prestress, so that a prestressing force of the spring section 21b of the return element 21 presses the pressure section 21a against the contact surface 22 of the lining carrier plate 5a, 5'a.
[0145] In this variant, too, it is conceivable that not only one return element 21, but two or more are provided.
[0146] When the brake is applied, the brake pad 5, 5' is pressed against the brake disc 2 and against the spring force of the return element 21, with the spring section 21b being tensioned by the pressure section 21a. The second holding section 21d can also have a spring effect. The return element 21 is fixed in the y-direction to the longitudinal connector 3c, 3'c of the brake carrier 3 via the holding sections 21e, 21f, 21g.
[0147] When the brake is released, the force of the spring section 21b (and the pressure section 21a as well as the first and second holding sections 21c, 21d) stored in the tensioned return element 21 acts in the direction of the brake disc axis 2a in the y-direction via the pressure section 21a onto the contact surface 22 of the pad carrier plate 5a, 5'a of the brake pad 5, 5' in such a way that the brake pad 5, 5' is returned to its original position by the brake disc 2. In this case, compressive forces act through the tensioned return element 21 to return the brake pad 5, 5'.
[0148] In the Fig. 12 is a schematic perspective view of another embodiment of the disc brake 1 according to the invention with the pad return device 100.
[0149] The disc brake 1 of this further embodiment differs from the disc brake 1 according to Fig. 1 in that the brake pad 5 on the application side is arranged in accordance with Fig. 8, the brake pad 5 on the application side is designed with only one degree of freedom in the direction of the brake disc rotation axis 2a.
[0150] In this case, the disc brake 1 of the further embodiment according to Fig. 12 has a pad retaining bracket BE', which, in contrast to the pad retaining bracket BE of the disc brake 1 of the embodiment according to Fig. 1 is shortened in length. The pad retaining bracket BE' therefore extends from its attachment to the back section 4b of the brake caliper 4 in the direction of the brake disc rotation axis 2a only beyond the back-side brake pad 5', whereby the back-side brake pad 5' is radially secured. Furthermore, access to the brake pads 5, 5' is facilitated through the opening in the brake caliper 4 between the back section 4b and the brake application section 4a.
[0151] The described embodiments of the pad reset device 100 can be used both for the application-side brake pad 5 and for the back-side brake pad 5'. It is possible for both brake pads 5, 5' or just one, either the application-side brake pad 5 or the back-side brake pad 5', to be provided with a pad reset device 100.
[0152] The invention is modifiable within the scope of the appended claims.
[0153] For example, it is possible to apply not only one version of the return elements 10, 13, 18, 19, 21 described above, but also different variants to a disc brake 1.
