Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a mounting system for fastening floorboards to a subfloor and for connecting them to one another for the purpose of forming a walking surface. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] When constructing a terraced surface, in addition to the professional skills of the craftsman during execution, essential principles must be observed during the planning phase to ensure operational safety and the long-term, unrestricted use of the structure. This includes both structural wood protection and the selection of a suitable and efficient fastening system. The necessary measures are technically interlinked and interlock to ensure the construction of a permanently reliable and durable structure.
[0003] Properly installing a deck can significantly extend its future lifespan. These aspects are generally referred to as structural wood protection. This aims to protect the wood as effectively as possible from precipitation, splashing, condensation, capillary water, and other rising damp. Structural wood protection poses a particular challenge, especially in outdoor areas, which are naturally constantly exposed to all weather conditions.
[0004] Even when planning a patio construction, important points must be considered to prevent rot, fungal growth, and algae. This includes adequate ventilation of the patio and the ability to drain water. This should prevent moisture pockets and the formation of waterlogging. The entire structure must be well-ventilated so that damp spots can dry out again within a reasonable period of time.
[0005] The expert is aware that permanently high wood moisture levels or excessive fluctuations in wood moisture levels will sooner or later damage the terrace construction.
[0006] Therefore, water must be able to drain freely both along the decking subfloor and along the decking. Of course, contact with the ground must be avoided at all times. The decking structure must maintain sufficient clearance from the subfloor.
[0007] All of these measures can be compromised by an improper fastening method using unsuitable fasteners. This means that the specialist must use a mounting method that achieves the most synergistic or at least complementary effect possible with the other measures. All components used and the structural design itself must be coordinated to enable long-term, unrestricted and safe use and thus to construct a durable structure.
[0008] WO 2008 / 011684 A1 describes a mounting element for floorboards. The mounting element has a strip-like shape comprising a base plate extending beneath the floorboards and orthogonally to them, on which resilient clamping elements are arranged. At least two of these clamping elements form a clamping element pair, which encloses a floorboard by engaging in grooves or pockets located on the longitudinal flanks of the floorboard.
[0009] Natural wood floorboards are subject to shrinkage and swelling, which have a direct impact on their stability and therefore on the durability of the fastenings. The mounting element described in WO 2008 / 011684 A1 cannot adequately counteract such movements of the floorboard. Since not only is the clamping element itself spring-elastically arranged on the base plate, but the hook on the clamping element that engages in the plank groove is also flexible, this hook is deformed to such an extent that when the floorboard expands, it presses on the clamping element in the area of its root just above the base plate, and the clamping element can shear off. This loses the plank fastening and the surface appearance is deteriorated by the shifted plank. If the loose fastening goes undetected for an extended period of time, the plank risks twisting and forming dangerous tripping edges.
[0010] DE 20 2011 110 307 U1 describes a method for fastening planks to a substructure. This involves using a connector with a compressible head that compresses when the planks expand. A screw or nail is driven through this head to secure the connector to the substructure. This prevents the connector from moving freely, and the expanding plank shears the connector.
[0011] DE 196 40 274 A1 describes a decorative arrangement for decorating a wall or floor covering in a room. It describes means for detachably attaching a decorative element to a wall and, if appropriate, also to a floor. However, the decorative elements do not have to form a walking surface, as is one of the technical objects of the present application. When forming a walking surface, the expansion of the floorboards caused by the room and air temperature is an important factor to consider, which is a technical problem when the floorboards are combined to form a walking surface. Even though a decorative element made of natural material can exhibit such expansion, there is no risk of warping, which can occur particularly in a combination such as a walking surface, which the present invention aims to avoid.Although in the decorative arrangement according to DE 196 40 274 A1 a single decorative part can be accommodated between the clamping elements, the arrangement of a second or third decorative part parallel to the first decorative part is not possible, since the crossbars present there project beyond the clamping elements and therefore a connection is not desired.
[0012] DE 20 2011 106 654 U1 describes a fastening element for planks that are mounted parallel to each other on a substructure. The described fastening element is designed for individual fastening and therefore cannot accommodate multiple planks, which makes it impossible to form a walking surface.
[0013] EP 3 121 346 A1 describes a retaining part for connecting two adjacent visible profiles. The retaining part described is a fastening element and also serves for individual fastening.
[0014] US 2015 0075111 A1 describes a fastening system for flooring, such as decking, with a base plate on which several boards can be clamped. However, a rigid bond is created between the boards, whereby the expansion movement of one board is directly transferred to the adjacent board. The sum of the movement forces leads to shearing of the clamped parts. TASK
[0015] The present invention is based on the object of improving a mounting system of the type described, wherein in particular the structural timber construction and the durability of the fastening are coordinated with one another.
[0016] This object is achieved by a mounting system according to the proposed claim 1.
[0017] Further advantageous details and embodiments of the invention as well as further developments and variants are apparent from the dependent claims and the drawing explained below. ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION
[0018] According to the invention, a mounting system for fastening floorboards to a subsurface and for connecting them to one another for the purpose of forming a walking surface is proposed, which is characterized by a modified floorboard with grooves or pockets located in its longitudinal flanks and a lower flank section which is set back from the upper flank section and by a first strip-shaped fastening element which comprises a base plate which extends below the floorboards and orthogonally to them and on which resilient clamping elements are arranged, at least two of which form a pair of clamping elements which enclose a floorboard by the clamping elements engaging in grooves or pockets located on the longitudinal flanks of the floorboard, wherein a distance gap is present between the base of the clamping element near the base plate and the flank section of the floorboard near the base.the width of the floorboard in the region of the lower flank section is greater than the clear width between the cams of two clamping elements forming a pair of clamping elements, each clamping element consisting of an upstanding tab having on one side an inherently rigid and non-deformable cam which abuts the inner wall of the groove or pocket in the longitudinal flank of the floorboard, and the rear wall of the tab is largely flat and, together with the rear wall of the immediately adjacent tab of a second pair of clamping elements, defines a distance gap between the longitudinal flanks of two adjacent floorboards.
[0019] The invention achieves an extraordinarily high clamping force against the floorboard to be enclosed, while at the same time allowing the floorboard a natural freedom of expansion without the floorboard being able to damage or even destroy the mounting means through their movement.
[0020] According to the invention, the clamping elements can be either molded onto the base plate of the strip-shaped fastening element or adapted to it. This depends on the chosen manufacturing method. Adapting the clamping elements offers the advantage that the shape of the clamping elements, particularly the shape of the cam engaging the floorboard, can be varied. By exchanging the respective type of clamping element, different types of floorboards can be attached.
[0021] According to the invention, each clamping element consists of an upright tab with a cam on one side. The cam is designed for the floorboard used and, compared to the other clamping element sections, is the leading sector that makes contact with the floorboard.
[0022] Furthermore, the invention provides that the rear wall of the bracket is designed to be as flat as possible and, together with the rear wall of the immediately adjacent bracket of a second pair of clamping elements, defines a gap between the longitudinal flanks of two adjacent floorboards. The rear walls form a plane with the upper flank sections and are therefore not visible. At the same time, the uniform gap creates an aesthetically pleasing surface appearance.
[0023] Because a pair of clamping elements is formed by the clamping elements whose cams point towards each other, a clip connection is created, whereby the floorboard used is positively received, fixed and stabilized in its position without further mechanical processing.
[0024] Preferably, the cam has a semicircular, circular, or dome-shaped cross-section. A triangular cross-section is also proposed. Suitable cross-sectional shapes are those that, on the one hand, enable the described clip connection and, on the other hand, have synergistic properties for the overall timber construction system. While the triangular cross-sectional shape of the cam supports a flat contact in the groove, its arched design allows for a targeted contact from a flat perimeter to a point contact.
[0025] The cam cross-section and shape, as well as the alignment of the clamping element and the shape of the groove in the longitudinal flanks of the floorboard, are complemented by the lower flank section of the floorboard being set back from the upper flank section. This allows the cam to fully engage the groove, ensuring that the rear wall is flush with the upper flank section, while still being sufficiently spaced from the floorboard by the base so that no shearing forces can act on the clamping element in this area.
[0026] It is particularly advantageous if the width of the floorboard in the area of the lower flank section is greater than the clear width between the cams of two clamping elements forming a pair of clamping elements. As a result, when the floorboard is inserted, the clamping elements are displaced from the movement path of the floorboard in the area of their flexurally elastic limits and snap back into their original position like a clip connection when the floorboard rests on the strip-shaped fastening element. The cams engage behind the groove flanks and create a positive connection. Since the invention preferably provides that the width of the floorboard in the area of the upper flank section corresponds to the distance between the rear walls of two clamping elements forming a pair of clamping elements, the fastening device is completely covered and is not visible. The fastening element is attached to the substrate or to a substructure.Various suitable options are available for this. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that the base plate be provided with at least one through-hole in the area of the spacer gap between two tabs aligned with their rear walls, through which a screw or nail is driven. Although not directly visible, a screw in this area is accessible through the gap between two adjacent planks and can be readjusted if necessary.
[0027] A particularly advantageous development of the invention provides that the base plate has a claw that penetrates the underside of the floorboard in the area between two clamping elements forming a pair of clamping elements. This makes it possible to secure the floorboards against longitudinal displacement by inserting the preferably metallic claw into the underside of the floorboard, for which purpose the claw has at least one raised spike. This fastening can be achieved without any additional work.
[0028] In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the claw comprises a U-shaped saddle with a molded-on base plate at each of its free ends, on each of which a protruding spike is arranged. With this saddle, the claw rests in a groove after assembly on the base plate, so that only the spikes protrude above the top of the base plate.
[0029] In order to ensure permanent drainage, the invention provides, in a further advantageous embodiment, that the base plate has drainage channels on its underside and / or on its upper side. EXAMPLE OF IMPLEMENTATION
[0030] There are various possibilities for advantageously embodying and developing the teachings of the present invention. Reference is made, on the one hand, to the dependent claims and, on the other hand, to the following explanation of an embodiment of the invention with reference to the drawings. In conjunction with the explanation of the preferred embodiment of the invention with reference to the drawings, generally preferred embodiments and developments of the teachings are also explained.
[0031] The drawing shows: Fig. 1 a side view of the mounting system according to the invention in a first embodiment, Fig. 2 a top view of the mounting system Fig. 1, Fig. 3 an enlarged section along the Fig. 2 indicated line AA, Fig. 4 an enlarged view of the mounting system according to the invention from Fig. 1 with inserted floorboard, Fig. 4a an enlarged view of the cam of a clamping element engaging in the plank groove, Fig. 5 that in Fig. 1 detail marked “B” in an enlargement, Fig. 5a a detailed view of the groove in the floorboard, Fig. 6 a perspective view of the mounting system from Fig. 1, Fig. 7 a side view of the mounting system according to the invention in a second embodiment, Fig. 8 a top view of the mounting system Fig. 7, Fig. 9 an enlarged view of the mounting system according to the invention from Fig. 7 with inserted floorboard, Fig. 10 that in Fig. 7 detail marked “B” in an enlargement, Fig. 11 a longitudinal joint of two base plates, Fig. 12 the front view of a claw, Fig. 13 a side view of the claw from Fig. 12, Fig. 14 a top view of the claw from Fig. 12, Fig. 15 a perspective view of the claw from the Fig. 12 to 14, Fig. 16 the claw inserted in the base plate, Fig. 17 a cross-sectional view of the floorboard in a first embodiment, Fig. 18 a cross-sectional view of the floorboard in a second embodiment and Fig. 19 a cross-sectional view of the floorboard in a third embodiment.
[0032] The Fig. 1 to 6 show a first embodiment of the mounting system. A strip-shaped fastening element 30 comprises a base plate 32 with clamping elements 60, 60a, 60b, 60c, 60d, 60e, 60f, 60g arranged one behind the other. These are integrally formed on the base plate 32. Depending on the selected manufacturing technique, the clamping elements 60-60g can also be designed as plug-in elements and clipped onto the base plate 32 using a connecting means not described in detail here. The shape of the individual clamping elements 60-60g remains largely unchanged.
[0033] As particularly shown in the enlarged detail according to Fig. As illustrated in Figure 5, a clamping element comprises an upstanding tab 62, which has a base 64 at the contact point with the base plate 32. The rear wall 66 of the tab 62 or of the clamping element 60-60g is flat, while the opposite side has a triangular cam 68. Two clamping elements 60 with 60a, 60b with 60c, or 60d with 60e and 60f with 60g, i.e. the clamping elements whose cams 68 point toward one another, form a pair of clamping elements that enclose a floorboard 1 between them. The rear wall 66 of a clamping element 60-60g forms a plane with the upper flank section 3 of the longitudinal flank 2 of the floorboard 1, while the cam 68 engages in the groove 5 of the floorboard 1 and strikes the inner wall 8 of the groove 5.
[0034] The triangular cam 68 has a cam apex 69, which, in the assembled state, lies congruently against the groove ceiling 9, since the groove ceiling 9 has the same angle of inclination as the cam apex 69. The groove base 11, on the other hand, slopes more steeply than the cam underside 70, so that the cam tip 72 presses into the groove rebate 13, but the cam underside 70 extends freely. This design prevents the clamping element 60 from shearing off, since neither contact with the groove base nor contact with the lower flank section can exert a shearing force directed in this direction on the clamping element.
[0035] The floorboard 1 is pressed almost vertically into the clamping element pair e.g. 60b, 60c, whereby the width B U (in Fig. 17, Fig. 18 and Fig. 19) of the lower flank section 4 is greater than the clear width W L (see Fig. 4) between the two cams 68 of the two pairs of clamping elements 60 and 60a, 60b and 60c, etc. The width B O (in Fig. 17, Fig. 18 and Fig. 19) of the upper flank section 3 of the floorboard 1 corresponds to the distance R A (in Fig. 6) of the rear walls 66 of the two pairs of clamping elements 60 and 60a, 60b and 60c, etc.
[0036] The lower flank area 4 is set back from the upper flank area 3, with a distance gap 20 (see Fig. 4a). This is at least as wide as the maximum expansion dimension of the floorboard 1 acting in the longitudinal direction of the strip-shaped fastening element 30, achieved by extension or movement. This has the advantage that the clamping element 60 cannot be sheared off, since the point of contact with the floorboard 1 is always above the base 64 and the clamping element 60 is sufficiently flexurally elastic to follow the expansion of the floorboard 1 to a limited extent.
[0037] The cam 68 itself is inherently rigid and non-deformable, so that the flank sections 3, 4 can neither move beyond the rear wall 66 of the clamping element 60, 60a etc. nor strike the base 64.
[0038] Despite the natural material wood, the expansion behavior of the floorboards 1 remains largely homogeneous due to the clamping principle of the present invention, so that the distance gap 40 between the longitudinal flanks 2 of two floorboards 1 remains the same over their entire length. This is achieved in particular because the cams 68 of the clamping elements 60 fully immerse themselves in the groove 5 of the floorboard 1 and, due to the fact that the cams 68 are not compressible, the upper flank section 3 cannot protrude or overhang the rear wall 66 of the clamping element 60. The width of the cam 68 corresponds to the depth of the groove 5. Thus, the internal dimension L A (in Fig. 6) between two adjacent rear walls 66 of the clamping elements at the same time the dimension of the distance gap 40 between the longitudinal flanks 2 of two adjacent floorboards 1.
[0039] To ensure water drainage, the base plate 32 has drainage channels 38 on its underside 34 running transversely to the longitudinal direction. These can also be provided on the top side 35 of the base plate 32. In this case, it is expedient to offset them parallel to the drainage channels 38 on the underside 34 so that the material of the base plate 32 is not excessively weakened.
[0040] In order to save material on the one hand and minimize the contact surfaces between the floorboard 1 and the fastening element 30 on the other, the base plate 32 is interspersed with windows 37. In conjunction with the drainage channels 38, this prevents the formation of waterlogging and, on the other hand, allows for optimal flushing with fresh air, which is one of the most important principles in structural timber construction.
[0041] To also secure the floorboards 1 against longitudinal displacement, the mounting system provides for their mechanical fastening with a claw 50. This fastening can be performed without any additional work. For this purpose, two adjacent openings 37 in the base plate 32 are separated by a stiffening web 33, which serves as a support for a claw 50. The stiffening web 33 has a groove 39 into which the claw 50 is inserted.
[0042] The Fig. The claw 50 shown in Figures 12 to 16 is preferably made of metal and comprises two upstanding prongs 55. For this purpose, the claw 50 has a largely U-shaped configuration with a central saddle 57, at the free ends of which a base plate 59 is arranged, from which the prongs 55 protrude. After the claw 50 has been inserted into the groove 39 of the web 33 between the windows 37 of the base plate 32, only the prongs 55 protrude beyond the upper side 35 of the base plate 32. The prongs 55 thus penetrate the underside 6 of a floorboard 1 pressed into the clamping device and provide it with longitudinal axial securing.
[0043] The fastening element 30 can be attached to a substructure, for example, by inserting a screw through the holes 42 between two adjacent clamping elements 60a and 60b, which anchors itself in the substructure or directly in the substructure. Since the screw head rests on the base plate 32 or is recessed into a countersunk recess there, the bending flexibility of the clamping elements 60 is not restricted. To provide a lateral stop for the fastening element 30 on a substructure, downward-projecting tabs 44 are arranged on one long side of the base plate 32.
[0044] The Fig. 7 to 11 show a second embodiment of the invention, in which the clamping elements 80 have a dome-shaped or semicircular cam 88. With the exception of the cam, the fastening element 30 corresponds to that already shown in the Fig. 1 to 6. Accordingly, partially identical reference numerals are used here, and the previous explanations are also applicable here.
[0045] The clamping element 80 comprises an upstanding tab 82, which has a base 84 at the contact point with the base plate 32. The rear wall 86 of the tab 82 or the clamping element 80 is flat, while the opposite side has a dome-shaped cam 88. Two clamping elements 80 with 80a, 80b with 80c, or 80d with 80e and 80f with 80g, i.e. the clamping elements whose cams 88 point towards each other, in turn form a pair of clamping elements that enclose the floorboard 1 between them. The rear wall 86 of a clamping element 80-80g forms a plane with the upper flank section 3 of the floorboard 1, while the cam 88 engages in the groove 5 of the floorboard 1 and abuts against the curved inner wall 8 of the groove 5. The cam 88 has a dome-shaped or circular segment-shaped cross-section.This design also prevents shearing of the clamping element 80, since neither contact with the groove base nor contact with the lower flank section can exert a shearing force directed in this direction on the clamping element 80. Even with the cam in the form of a spherical cap, the curved inner wall of the groove in the floorboard has a steeper slope than the spherical cap base, so that the distance specified in the invention is maintained.
[0046] The Fig. 11 shows a longitudinal joint of two fastening elements 30 in the region of their base plates 32. Here, the principle of the positive / negative form is used, in that the first fastening element 30 has a lower tongue 46 and the second fastening element has an upper tongue 47, which overlap in a longitudinal joint and are fixed with a fastening means not shown here.
[0047] The Fig. Figure 17 shows a floorboard 1 in a first embodiment. The groove 5 is relatively flat here, while the groove 5a in the floorboard 1a according to Fig. 18 has an arched design and is ideal for receiving the cam 88.
[0048] The floorboard 1b from Fig. 19 has a triangular groove 5b and is suitable for receiving the cam 68. In all three embodiments of the floorboard 1, 1a and 1b, the feature of the longitudinal flank 2 is the same, which has a lower flank section 4 set back from the upper flank section 3.
