Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL AREA
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of valves and in particular to a valve for a cooling system of an internal combustion engine. BACKGROUND
[0002] Valves (also referred to as multi-port valves, temperature control valves, thermostatic valves, control valves, etc.) are typically used in the cooling system of an internal combustion engine. The valves can be controlled to interact with different coolant channels to regulate the flow path and rate of the coolant, thereby adjusting the engine's temperature. A valve generally comprises a housing and a valve body, with the valve body supported by a carrier or bracket. The carrier is typically press-fitted into the housing.
[0003] Publication DE 10 2019 126 035 A1 describes a valve device with a housing having an inner circumferential wall that defines a cylindrical space within it, and a fluid supply path formed in the housing for communication with the cylindrical space. The valve device comprises a spherical valve body and a valve body rotation mechanism that rotates the valve body about an axis (X).
[0004] Publication US 2018 / 0313457A1 describes a flow control valve that improves assembly efficiency. The valve comprises a housing with a housing section and a first connecting port that introduces cooling water flowing from a first water channel formed in an engine into the housing section. A second connecting port directs the cooling water in the housing section to a second water channel formed in the engine. A rotor and corresponding drive mechanism control the flow rate of the cooling water delivered to the second water channel by adjusting the rotor's angle of rotation.
[0005] However, the mounting structure of the existing valve devices is relatively complex, which at least prevents a reduction in the size of the device and makes assembly cumbersome.
[0006] Therefore, there is a need for a valve device with a simplified and more effective configuration that makes assembly easier and also allows for further miniaturization. SUMMARY OF THE REVELATION

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXECUTION FORMS
[0018] Below, with reference to the attached drawings, which form part of this description, various specific embodiments of the present invention are described. It is understood that, although terms such as "front," "rear," "upper," "lower," "left," "right," "inner," and "outer," which indicate directions in the present disclosure, are used to describe various exemplary structural parts and elements in the present disclosure, these terms are used here only for the sake of simplicity and are evident from the exemplary orientation shown in the attached drawings. Since the embodiments disclosed in the present disclosure can be arranged in various directions, these directional designations serve only for illustration and are not to be considered as limitations.
[0019] Fig. Figure 1A is a perspective view of an embodiment of a valve 100 of the present disclosure, and Fig. 1B is an expanded view of the in Fig. Figure 1A shows the overall structure and special components of valve 100. According to the illustration in Fig. 1B The valve 100 comprises a housing 101, a bracket 106, a first valve body 111, a support 112, a second valve body 113, a sealing cover assembly 190 and a gear 115. With reference to Fig. 1A shows that the first valve body 111, the carrier 112, the second valve body 113, the gear 115 and the bracket 106 are included in the housing 101 and the sealing cover arrangement 190 seals against the lower wall of the housing 101 to keep the above elements in the housing 101.
[0020] According to the representation in Fig. In 1B, the housing 101 is made of a plastic material and comprises a first housing part 102, a second housing part 103, and a neck 104. A first valve body cavity 105 is provided in the first housing part 102, and the volume of the first valve body cavity 105 is larger than that of the first valve body 111, so that the first valve body 111 can be rotatably received in the first valve body cavity 105. The first housing part 102 is provided with pipe holes 192 and 193, and the pipe holes 192 and 193 are tubular and are in flow communication with the first valve body cavity 105, so that a fluid can flow into the valve 100 via the pipe holes 192 and 193.
[0021] The second housing part 103 is positioned below the first housing part 102, and the bracket 106, the second valve body 113, and the gear 115 are accommodated in the second housing part 103 on its left side. A pipe opening 194 is provided in the second housing part 103, and the pipe opening 194 is in flow communication with the interior of the second housing part 103, so that a fluid can flow out of the valve 100 through the pipe opening 194.
[0022] The neck 104 is positioned between the first housing part 102 and the second housing part 103, connecting the first housing part 102 to the second housing part 103 and serving to receive the support 112. The neck 104 is provided with an inner arcuate surface 114, and the height and diameter of the inner arcuate surface 114 correspond to the height and outer diameter, respectively, of the support 112. For example, the height of the inner arcuate surface 114 is greater than or equal to the height of the support 112, and the diameter of the inner arcuate surface 114 is slightly greater than or equal to the outer diameter of the support 112, so that the inner arcuate surface 114 can receive the support 112.
[0023] The first valve body 111 comprises a hollow main body 125 and a stem 121 connected to the main body 125. The main body 125 comprises two coaxially arranged spherical parts. The main body part 125 can rotate around the stem 121, so that the second valve body 111 deactivates or activates the flow connection of the pipe holes 192 / 193 with the first valve body cavity 105. An upper end of the stem 121 is inserted into a corresponding stem bore (not shown) in the first housing part 102, and a lower end of the stem 121 is supported by the carrier 112, so that the first valve body 111 can be rotatably held in the first valve body cavity 105. The first valve body 111 is provided with several teeth 151 on a lower section thereof. The teeth 151 mesh with the gear 115, so that the gear 115 can rotate together with the first valve body 111.
[0024] The carrier 112 is made of a plastic material, and one of its outer contours is essentially ring-shaped. The carrier 112 has an annular side wall 156 and is provided with a support element 153 at its center. The support element 153 is provided with a shaft bore (not shown), and the carrier 112 interacts with the shaft 121 of the first valve body 111 via the shaft bore to support the first valve body 111. The support element 153 is connected to the annular side wall 156 via three connecting walls 155, so that three openings 122 are formed between the support element 153 and the annular side wall 156 to allow a liquid to flow from the first housing part 102 into the second housing part 103. The annular side wall 156 is provided with a receiving element 132 at one of its lower ends. In this embodiment, the receiving part 132 is a recess. The recess 132 is formed by deepening upwards from the base surface of the annular side wall 156 and has a recess base 133 and inner side walls 136 and 137 on two opposite sides of the recess base 133. The receiving part 132 is used to interact with the support 106 to prevent movement of the carrier 112 relative to the neck 104, as described in more detail below.
[0025] The second valve body 113 comprises a hollow main body 165 and a stem 123 connected to the main body 165. The main body 165 has an essentially spherical outer contour and includes a pair of valve body openings 167 and 169, which are interconnected by a cavity within the main body 165. The main body 165 can rotate around the stem 123, allowing the second valve body 113 to deactivate or activate the flow connection of the pipe hole 194 with the interior of the second housing part 103, or to adjust the fluid flow rate. An upper end of the stem 123 is inserted into a stem hole (not shown) in the second housing part 103, and a lower end of it is supported by the bracket 106, so that the second valve body 113 can be held in a second valve body cavity 440, which is formed together by the bracket 106 and the second housing part 103 (as shown in Fig. (as shown in Figure 4). An upper end of the main body 165 includes a gear 150 with several teeth 152. The teeth 152 mesh with the gear 115, so that the gear 115 can rotate with the gear 150 in such a way as to drive the second valve body 113 to rotation, and thus the first valve body 111 can drive the second valve body 113 to rotation via the gear 115.
[0026] The bracket 106 is located in the second housing part 103 and in a position near the pipe opening 194. The bracket 106 comprises a base 160 and a wall part 180 connected to the base 160, and the second valve body 113 is received in a space defined by the base 160 and an inner surface 116 of the wall part 180. An outer surface 117 of the wall part 180 can engage with the neck 104, and the outer surface 117 of the wall part 180 has a limiter 131. The limiter 131 extends outward from the outer surface 117 of the wall part 180 and extends toward the support 112. The limiter 131 can cooperate with the receiving part 132 of the carrier 112 to restrict rotation and movement of the carrier 112 relative to the housing 101.
[0027] Fig. Figure 2 is a perspective view of a bracket 106 of the in Fig. 1B shows the valve 100 viewed from the inside out to more clearly show the structure of the bracket 106. As in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the base 160 of the bracket 106 is essentially square, and the base 160 is provided with a shaft hole 227 near its center for interaction with the shaft 123 of the second valve body 113. The wall portion 180 comprises two side walls 261 and 262, which extend upwards perpendicularly to the base 160 from a first and a second side, opposite each other. The side walls 261 and 262 are each provided with circular bores 263 and 264, and the circular bore 264 is aligned with and in flow communication with the tube hole 194. When the second valve body 113 is in an open position, the fluid flows successively through the circular bore 263, the second valve body 113 and the circular bore 264 and flows out of the valve 100 via the pipe hole 194.The wall portion 180 of the bracket 106 further comprises a partition 265, and the partition 265 extends upward from a third side of the base 160 and is connected to the side wall 261. The upper surface of the partition 265 is provided with a shaft 226, the gear 115 is arranged on the shaft 226, and an upper end of the shaft 226 is inserted into a shaft bore (not shown) in the second housing portion 103 to retain the gear 115 in the second housing portion 103. An inner surface 266 of the partition 265, inner surfaces (i.e., the inner surface 116 of the wall portion 180) of the side walls 261 and 262, and the second housing portion 103 together form the second valve body cavity 440 (as shown in Figure 1). Fig. 4 is shown), which can accommodate the second valve body 113.
[0028] An outer surface 267 of the partition wall 265 is part of the outer surface 117 of the wall section 180. The outer surface 267 of the partition wall 265 comprises two arcuate surfaces 118 and 119 with different diameters (as shown in Fig. (as shown in Figure 1B). The arcuate surface 118 is positioned above the arcuate surface 119, and the diameter of the arcuate surface 118 is less than the diameter of the arcuate surface 119, so that the arcuate surface 119 is recessed further inwards than the arcuate surface 118. The diameter of the arcuate surface 118 is essentially equal to the diameter of the inner arcuate surface 114 of the neck 104. The arcuate surface 118 and the inner arcuate surface 114 are fitted together to form a full circle for receiving the support 112. The arcuate surface 119 is configured to fit together with an inner wall of the second housing part 103, which is positioned below the neck 104, to form an inner wall of a pump cavity 441 (as shown in Figure 1B). Fig. 4 is shown).
[0029] The limiter 131 is arranged at a lower end of the arc surface 118, and the limiter 131 and the support 106 are integrally formed by an injection molding process. In this embodiment, the limiter 131 is a projection. The projection 131 is formed by a protrusion extending outwards from the outer surface 267 of the partition 265, and the projection 131 is perpendicular to the stem 121 of the first valve body 111 and extends towards the support 112 (in Fig. 4 shown more clearly). The projection 131 has an upper surface 238 and a pair of outer side walls 234 and 235, which are positioned on two opposite sides of the upper surface 238. The specific positional relationship between the projection 131 and the recess 132 is shown in Fig. 4 described in more detail.
[0030] Fig. Figure 3 is a perspective view of a sealing cover assembly 190 viewed from the inside out and is used to show the structure of the sealing cover assembly 190 in more detail. As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the sealing cover assembly 190 comprises a sealing cover 398 and a pump 396 attached to the sealing cover 398. The sealing cover 398 includes a mounting contact area 397 on one side of the pump 396. The mounting contact area 397 is configured to rest against the base 160 of the mounting bracket 106. The pump 396 is located in a pump cavity 441 (as shown in Figure 3). Fig. 4), which is formed together by the outer surface 117 of the wall part 180 of the bracket 106 and the second housing part 103. An outer contour of the sealing cover 398 corresponds to the shape of an opening at a lower end of the second housing part 103 for sealing the opening at the lower end of the second housing part 103 by the sealing cover 398.
[0031] Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the in Fig. 1A shows the valve 100, with the sealing cover assembly 190 not visible to more accurately illustrate the assembly relationship between internal components of the valve 100. As in Fig. 4, referring to Fig. 1A, Fig. 1B and Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the bracket 106 is positioned on its left side in the second housing part 103, and the opening 264 in the side wall 262 of the bracket 106 is aligned with the pipe hole 194. The side wall 261 of the bracket 106 and the partition 265 divide the interior of the second housing part 103 into two parts. The inner surface 116 of the wall section 180 of the bracket 106 and a left side panel of the second housing part 103 together form a second valve body cavity 440 (the cavity 440 is shielded by the base 160 of the bracket 106). The outer surface 267 of the partition 265 and the outer surface of the side wall 261 of the bracket 106 and a right side part of the second housing part 103 together form a pump cavity 441. The second valve body cavity 440 is in flow communication with the pump cavity 441 through the circular bore 263 in the side wall 261 of the bracket 106.
[0032] Furthermore, the arcuate surface 118 of the partition 265 of the bracket 106 and the inner arcuate surface 114 of the neck 104 fit together to form a circular inner surface 443. As described above, the diameter of the inner arcuate surface 114 of the neck 104 corresponds to the outer diameter of the support 112, and the diameter of the arcuate surface 118 of the bracket 106 corresponds to the diameter of the inner arcuate surface 114. Thus, the diameter of the circular inner surface 443 also corresponds to the outer diameter of the support 112, so that the support receiving part 442, defined by the outer surface 117 of the bracket 106 and the neck 104, can receive the support 112.The projection 131 on the partition 265 of the bracket 106 is perpendicular to the shaft 121 of the first valve body 111 and extends towards the support 112, and the projection 131 cooperates with the recess 132 of the support 112 in such a way as to restrict movement of the support 112 with respect to the support receiving part 442.
[0033] In particular, as shown in the enlarged partial view, within a circular dashed frame of Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the upper surface 238 of the projection 131 is attached to the recess bottom 133 of the recess 132 of the support 112, so that the support 112 cannot pass over the insert 131 and escape from the support receiving part 442, thus ensuring a proper axial position of the support 112 during assembly. The outer side wall 235 of the projection 131 abuts the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132, and there is a gap 445 between the outer side wall 234 of the projection 131 and the inner side wall 137 of the recess 132. That is, the distance between the two outer side walls 234 and 235 of the projection 131 (i.e., the distance that the projection 131 extends in the circumferential direction of the support receiving part 442) is less than the distance between the two inner side walls 136 and 137 of the recess 132 (i.e., the distance that the recess 132 extends in the circumferential direction of the support receiving part 442).The first valve body 111 applies torque to the carrier 112 during a rotation, but since the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131 rests against the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132, the carrier 112 cannot rotate with respect to the carrier receiving part 442.
[0034] It is noted that this is very advantageous insofar as, since the distance that the projection 131 extends in the circumferential direction of the support receiving part 442 is less than the distance that the recess 132 extends in the circumferential direction of the support receiving part 442, there is a gap 445 between them, and the gap 445 compensates for necessary dimensional tolerances during manufacturing and assembly, and the presence of the gap 445 does not adversely affect the valve 100.
[0035] It is noted that the gap 445 may be positioned between the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131 and the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132 during the initial assembly. Since the first valve body 111 has a specific direction of rotation, the support 112 tends to rotate in the direction of rotation of the first valve body 111. Under the influence of the first valve body 111, because the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132 is not in contact with the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131, the support 112 cannot be prevented from slowly rotating with the first valve body 111. As a result, the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132 gradually approaches the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131, and the gap between the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131 and the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132 gradually decreases.Ultimately, when the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132 abuts the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131, the support 112 can no longer rotate due to the blocking effect of the projection 131 and reaches a stationary state. At this point, the gap 445 is no longer positioned between the outer side wall 235 of the projection 131 and the inner side wall 136 of the recess 132, but is positioned between the outer side wall 234 of the projection 131 and the inner side wall 137 of the recess 132.
[0036] It is obvious to a person skilled in the art that in other embodiments the gap 445 may not be present, i.e., the outer side walls 234 and 235 of the projection 131 are each in contact with the corresponding inner side walls 136 and 137 at the recess 132. Furthermore, the height of the projection 131 need not be exactly the same as the depth of the recess 132 and may be greater than, equal to, or less than the depth of the recess 132, which does not adversely affect the valve 100 and is advantageous for its manufacture.
[0037] It is noted that, although the limiter 131 in the present disclosure is a projection extending perpendicularly to the shaft 121 of the first valve body 111 towards the support 112, and the receiving part 132 is a recess formed in the support 112, it is obvious to the person skilled in the art in the field of the present disclosure that the limiter 131 and the receiving part 132 may have other structures or shapes, as long as the limiter 131 and the receiving part 132 can interact to restrict movement of the support 112 with respect to the support receiving part 442. For example, the limiter 131 may be either a hook portion extending downwards and then upwards with respect to the arcuate surface 118, or a projection portion extending obliquely to the shaft 121 of the first valve body 111. and the receiving part 132 can have an opening in the side wall of the support 112 that corresponds to the limiter 131, such asa rectangular opening, or any other structure that can be compatible with the corresponding limiter 131. Furthermore, the number of limiters 131 and receiving parts 132 is not limited to one as shown in this embodiment, but can be two, three, or even more.
[0038] The applicant notes that the prior art valve restricts the carrier within the housing by means of the press fit between the carrier and the housing. Such a prior art valve structure places very stringent demands on the manufacture of the parts, and the assembly process is complex, which hinders mass production and control. In particular, the valve is typically made of plastic. If the fit is too large during assembly, the carrier may be difficult to fit, or the housing may be deformed or even broken by the carrier; and if the fit is too small, it is difficult to ensure that the carrier is securely seated in the housing after assembly, and relative movement or rotation may occur. Furthermore, as the size of the valve decreases, controlling the carrier's fit becomes more difficult, which is detrimental to valve miniaturization.Even if the fit is adequate, after the valve is installed and after prolonged use under the operating conditions of high and low temperatures, vibrations, coolant effects, etc., of a vehicle, creep of the carrier or housing will cause the carrier to fall out of the housing, impairing the normal use of the valve.
[0039] The present disclosure effectively overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages of the prior art. Plastic parts of the present disclosure are not crushed at all or only rarely, thus solving the problem that the plastic parts themselves are not crush-resistant. In the present disclosure, the outer surface 117 of the wall portion 180 of the holder 106 and the neck 104 engage with each other to form a carrier receiving part 442 for receiving the carrier 112. The outer surface 117 of the wall portion 180 of the holder 106 is provided with the limiter 131, and the carrier 112 is provided with the receiving part 132, which interacts with the limiter 131, thereby preventing rotation and escape of the carrier 112. According to the present disclosure, the carrier 112 does not escape from the housing 101 by creeping during use, since there is no force or only a minimal force between the carrier 112 and the housing 101.The present disclosure further facilitates the miniaturization of the valve 100, since the limiter 131 and the receiving part 132 do not need to be configured to have a size proportional to the size of the carrier 112, and the size of the carrier 112 has less of an effect on them compared to the prior art. Furthermore, the valve 100 of the present disclosure allows the presence of the gap 445 between the limiter 131 and the receiving part 132, which greatly reduces the difficulty of manufacturing parts and is conducive to mass production and control of the parts. Moreover, the assembly process of the valve 100 of the present disclosure is simpler than that of the prior art.
[0040] The assembly process of valve 100 of the present disclosure is, in particular, as follows. With reference to Fig. 1B and Fig.4. The second valve body 113 is first attached to the space defined by the base 160 of the bracket 106 and the inner surface 116 of the wall part 180, and the stem 121 of the first valve body 111 is inserted into the corresponding stem bore of the first housing part 102. Next, the recess 132 of the support 112 is engaged with the projection 131 of the bracket 106, and the gear 115 is positioned on the stem 226 of the bracket 106.
