Abstract

While searching online for a quick, efficient, manual planting aid for planting flower bulbs of varying sizes, the inventor came up empty-handed. He then developed this bulb-drilling tool, consisting of a sturdy axle and one or more attached plates. Made entirely of stainless steel, it is durable and maintenance-free, and very easy to use with a good (cordless) drill with a 12 mm chuck. With practice, medium-sized bulbs, and moderate soil compaction (walkable and playable lawn), a planting hole can be created every two to five seconds. Planting and covering the bulb with soil takes approximately another five seconds. This results in a realistic planting speed of about 10 seconds per bulb, six bulbs per minute, or 360 bulbs per person-hour.The bulb hole drill is therefore also ideal for manually creating large flower beds and meadows for private and professional purposes.

Description

Flower onion-hole drills are a quick aid for the private or commercial planting of flower onions in the form of a special auger for battery drilling machines in loose to greatly compacted plant floors. It consists of a stable stainless steel axle to which one or more stainless steel plates are attached in an irregular arrangement so that upon axle rotation they produce a borehole in the earth in which the diameter increases conically or in steps from top to bottom with increasing drilling depth. Thus, the drill, which is about 160 mm long, produces plant holes of about φ 30-65 mm during central drilling, depending on the drilling depth reached. If circular oscillating movements are carried out during drilling with the drilling machine, plant holes of more than φ 100 mm and drilling depths of approximately 150 mm can also be achieved. Due to the drill stability together with a strong battery drill which can accommodate drills up to φ 12 mm, even in the case of extremely compacted plant floors, plant holes are produced very quickly with the flower onion hole drill. In practical application, medium flower onion size and medium soil compaction (passable and recordable turf), a plant hole can be produced every two to five seconds. For planting and covering the soil, about 5 seconds are again required. This results in a realistic planting speed per onion of about 10 seconds, six onions per minute or 360 onions per man-hour. Ideally, therefore, the flower onion hole drill is also used for applying large flower discounts and meadows for private and professional purposes.

Claims

The flower onion hole drill is an earth drill which has neither a screw conveyor nor classic drill cutting edges. It consists only of a stable stainless steel axle and the claims are characterized in that steel plates are attached to the axle in regular or irregular arrangement such that the diameter of the entire borehole does not increase with increasing drilling depth, conically or in steps.
