Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an electromechanically operated floating caliper brake for motor vehicles, in particular cars. The invention further relates to an electromechanically driven motor vehicle with such a floating caliper brake. This includes both floating caliper brakes that are operated exclusively electromechanically and floating caliper brakes that are operated hydraulically and additionally electromechanically. The second case typically occurs with a brake that is hydraulically actuated during driving and electromechanically actuated to secure the position of the vehicle in question. In the case of an exclusively electromechanically operated floating caliper brake, the actuating piston is actuated by an electric motor and, in most cases, in combination with a gear arrangement. In the case of the combined solution, the actuating piston can be moved both hydrostatically and by means of an electric motor and the gear arrangement.
[0002] Floating-caliper brakes are widely used as floating-caliper brakes, with the floating caliper being shaped like a fist. The axially floating caliper has a piston section and a finger section. The brake disc and brake pads are located inside the "fist" between the finger section and the piston section. The inner section of the fist, together with the brake anchor plate, forms a shaft in this area, in which the brake disc is located when installed on a motor vehicle. The floating caliper is mounted so it can be axially displaced relative to the brake anchor plate.
[0003] Electromechanical drives take up more space than hydraulic drives. They are also generally heavier than hydraulic drives. However, the available space in the area of the wheel rim and the wheel bearing or wheel suspension is limited. There is also a trend towards the need to accommodate additional components such as brake covers or brake dust collectors in the area of the floating caliper brakes. If a powerful floating caliper brake is required, as is usually the case with front wheel brakes or in larger cars, the problem arises (particularly with widely projecting electromechanical units) of high bearing forces between the brake carrier and the floating caliper. In connection with the development of purely electromechanically powered cars, there is an increasing requirement for the wheel brakes to be operated purely electromechanically. The range of applications for hydraulic actuation is also declining for brakes that must achieve high braking performance.
[0004] Therefore, the task is to provide a powerful electromechanically operated floating caliper brake, which is suitable for front wheel brakes and / or for large cars, e.g. SUVs, and which is designed in such a way that it is space-optimized so that it can be better installed in the area of the wheel rim and the wheel bearing or wheel suspension.
[0005] The stated object is achieved by a floating caliper brake having the features of claim 1. Furthermore, the object is achieved by an electromechanically driven motor vehicle having the features of claim 12. Preferred embodiments are specified in the dependent claims.
[0006] The floating caliper brake comprises at least one actuating piston for displacing at least one brake pad unit, at least one electromechanical drive for actuating the actuating piston, a brake carrier, and a floating caliper. The floating caliper has a piston region and a finger region. The floating caliper brake extends in the axial direction in such a way that the piston region is located on a first side of a brake disc that can be accommodated in a shaft formed by the brake carrier and the floating caliper, and that the finger region is located on a second side of the brake disc that can be accommodated in the shaft, opposite the first side. The term "in the axial direction" refers to the orientation of the axis of rotation of an associated brake disc, which rotates about the axis of rotation when installed in the floating caliper brake and when an associated motor vehicle is in operation."In the axial direction" means parallel to the axis of rotation or running along the axis of rotation. A first guide arrangement is arranged on a third side at a distance from a center plane that runs congruent with the axis of rotation of the brake disc that can be accommodated in the shaft. The first guide arrangement extends along a first guide axis that runs in the axial direction and parallel to the axis of rotation. A second guide arrangement is arranged on a fourth side, opposite the third side with respect to the center plane, at a distance from the center plane and extends along a second guide axis that runs in the axial direction and parallel to the axis of rotation. The first guide arrangement has a first guide channel enclosed by the brake carrier, a first guide element guided displaceably in the first guide channel in the axial direction, said first guide element having a first guide shaft and a first fastening end, and exclusively a first connecting section connected to the floating caliper, preferably connected in one piece. The first guide element is firmly connected to the first connecting section by means of its first fastening end. This connection is preferably a screw connection. The first connecting section is located in the axial direction at the level of the finger area. The connecting section can also be located at least partially on the second side. It is also possible for the two aforementioned positions of the first connecting section to exist simultaneously.Due to the design according to the invention that the first guide arrangement has only one connecting section connected to the floating caliper, i.e. the first connecting section, at the said position, a space-optimized design of the floating caliper brake results.
[0007] Preferably, a first installation space is available adjacent to the first guide arrangement on the first side in alignment with the first guide axis. The first installation space can also be available in the axial direction at the level of the piston area. Both of the aforementioned positions of the first installation space can also be present simultaneously. This installation space results from the arrangement of the single first connecting section.
[0008] Preferably, an electric motor is arranged at least partially in the first installation space. The electric motor serves to actuate the actuating piston. A gear can also be arranged at least partially in the first installation space. A housing of an electromechanical drive can also be arranged at least partially in the first installation space. Preferably, the electric motor and gear cooperate as an electromechanical drive, with which the actuating piston can be actuated. Preferably, the gear is connected between the electric motor and the actuating piston. An electronic control unit can also be arranged at least partially in the first installation space. Such an electronic control unit can preferably be designed to control the electric motor, which actuates the actuating piston. Such an electronic control unit can comprise a PCB, electronic components and preferably a CPU.An electrical interface can also be arranged in the first installation space. Such an electrical interface can be designed to couple data or control lines or to couple power supply lines. It can also be designed to couple data lines, control lines, and power supply lines. The interface can be designed as a plug or a socket. Parts or partial areas of a brake cover can also be arranged in the first installation space. Parts or partial areas of a brake dust collection device can also be arranged in the first installation space. It is preferably also possible for several of the aforementioned components or assemblies to be at least partially arranged in the first installation space. The advantage of this is the utilization of the first installation space. This means that even with high-performance brakes, the components can be placed close to the floating caliper. This has a positive effect on the bearing forces (the lever length is shortened). In addition, this makes it possible to accommodate the necessary parts in the area of the wheel rim and the wheel bearing or wheel suspension.
[0009] The floating caliper brake preferably comprises a brake cover which is fastened to the floating caliper by means of the first fastening end. The brake cover can also be fastened to the first fastening end or to the first connecting section. The brake cover can also be fastened to both the first fastening end and the first connecting section. The brake cover preferably has a first holding section which is clamped between the first connecting section and the first holding section. The first fastening end can comprise a screw with which the first holding section is fixed against the first connecting section. For this purpose, the first holding section preferably has a passage through which a screw extends. The aforementioned fastening options for the brake cover result in a space-optimized design of the floating caliper brake. The fastening components for connecting the brake caliper and brake anchor plate are also used to attach the brake cover. This saves installation space and is an economical solution. Furthermore, it allows for an aesthetically pleasing design of the brake cover. Such a brake cover can be a protective cover, a logo plate, or part of a brake dust collection system. It can also be a stabilizing plate. Several or all of the aforementioned functions can be implemented in the brake cover.
[0010] Preferably, the first guide channel has a first and a second end and extends between these ends along the first guide axis, wherein the first end is arranged in the axial direction closer to the piston region than to the finger region and wherein the second end is arranged in the axial direction closer to the finger region than to the piston region, wherein the first end is closed and the second end is open and wherein the first guide element projects with its guide shaft, ie with the first guide shaft, through the opening of the second end into the first guide channel.
[0011] In a preferred embodiment of the floating caliper brake according to the invention, the second guide arrangement has a second guide channel enclosed by the brake carrier, a second guide element guided displaceably in the axial direction in the second guide channel, said second guide element having a second guide shaft and a second fastening end, and exclusively a second connecting section connected to the floating caliper, in particular connected integrally. In this preferred embodiment of the floating caliper brake, the second guide element is firmly connected, preferably screwed, to the second connecting section by means of its fastening end. The second connecting section is located in the axial direction at the level of the piston area or at least partially on the first side. It is also possible for the two aforementioned positions of the second connecting section to exist simultaneously. This design of the floating-caliper brake provides a particularly suitable force transmission between the brake carrier and the floating caliper. This means that the greater weight of the electromechanical drive is appropriately supported and distributed via the first and second guide arrangements in such a way that comparatively low stresses occur in the relevant components due to the applied forces.
[0012] Preferably, the second guide channel has a third and a fourth end and extends between these ends along the second guide axis, wherein the third end is arranged in the axial direction closer to the piston region than to the finger region and wherein the second end is arranged in the axial direction closer to the finger region than to the piston region, wherein the third end is open and the fourth end is closed, and wherein the second guide element with its guide shaft, ie the second guide shaft, projects through the opening of the third end into the second guide channel.
[0013] In a further preferred embodiment of the floating caliper brake according to the invention, the second guide arrangement has a second guide channel enclosed by the brake carrier, a second guide element guided displaceably in the axial direction in the second guide channel, said second guide element having a second guide shaft and a second fastening end, and exclusively a second connecting section connected to the floating caliper, in particular connected integrally. In this preferred embodiment of the floating caliper brake, the second guide element is firmly connected, preferably screwed, to the second connecting section by means of its fastening end, i.e. the second fastening end. The second connecting section is located in the axial direction at the level of the finger area or at least partially on the second side. It is also possible for the two aforementioned positions of the second connecting section to be present simultaneously.Due to this configuration, that the first guide arrangement has only one connecting section connected to the floating caliper, i.e. the first connecting section, at the stated position and that the second guide arrangement has only one connecting section connected to the floating caliper, i.e. the second connecting section, at the stated position, an expanded, space-optimized design of the floating caliper brake results.
[0014] Preferably, a second installation space is available adjacent to the second guide arrangement on the first side in the alignment of the second guide axis. The second installation space can also be available in the axial direction at the level of the piston area in the alignment of the second guide axis. Both of the aforementioned positions of the second installation space can also be present simultaneously. This installation space results from the arrangement of the single second connecting section.
[0015] Preferably, an electric motor is arranged at least partially in the second installation space. The electric motor serves to actuate the actuating piston. A gearbox can also be arranged at least partially in the second installation space. A housing of an electromechanical drive can also be arranged at least partially in the second installation space. Preferably, the electric motor and gearbox cooperate as an electromechanical drive, with which the actuating piston can be actuated. Preferably, the gearbox is connected between the electric motor and the actuating piston. Parts or partial areas of a brake cover can also be arranged in the second installation space. Parts or partial areas of a brake dust collection device can also be arranged in the second installation space. It is preferably also possible for several of the aforementioned components or assemblies to be at least partially arranged in the second installation space. The advantage of this is the utilization of the second installation space. This means that even with high-performance brakes, the components can be placed close to the floating caliper. This has a positive effect on the bearing forces (the lever length is shortened). In addition, this makes it possible to accommodate the necessary parts in the area of the wheel rim and the wheel bearing or wheel suspension.
[0016] Preferably, the aforementioned brake cover or another brake cover is fastened to the floating caliper by means of the second fastening end. The brake cover can also be fastened to the second fastening end or to the second connecting section. The brake cover can also be fastened to both the second fastening end and the second connecting section. Preferably, the brake cover has a second holding section which is clamped between the second connecting section and the second holding section. The second fastening end can comprise a screw with which the second holding section is fixed against the second connecting section. For this purpose, the second holding section preferably has a passage through which a screw extends. The effects of these fastening options are the same as those already mentioned above for fastening the brake cover to or with the first fastening end and the first connecting section.
[0017] The electromechanically driven motor vehicle according to the invention comprises a floating caliper brake as described above. The design of the floating caliper brake can comprise individual aspects of the invention described above or a combination of the aspects of the invention described above. Particularly in such an electromechanically driven vehicle with the floating caliper brake according to the invention, a space-optimized design results. Among other things, in conjunction with large wheel rim diameters, this results in the advantage of a compact arrangement of the components in the axial direction, which also has an advantageous effect on the first and second guide arrangements in terms of forces.
[0018] Further features, advantages, and possible applications of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of the exemplary embodiments and the schematic figures. For the sake of clarity, not all elements shown in a figure are always provided with a reference symbol. However, corresponding elements or regions are identified in at least one other figure, and their meaning can be found there. Furthermore, the same reference symbols may also represent the same or similar objects in the figures. Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of an embodiment of a floating caliper brake according to the invention Fig. 2 shows a schematic representation of another embodiment of a floating caliper brake according to the invention Fig. 3 shows a schematic representation of a floating caliper brake according to the invention with advantageous design features Fig. 4 shows a schematic representation of a motor vehicle according to the invention
[0019] In a first embodiment of the floating caliper brake 1 according to the invention, Fig. 1 shows that a floating caliper 40 is mounted displaceably in the axial direction A relative to a brake carrier 20 by means of a first guide arrangement 8 and a second guide arrangement 9. The floating caliper 40 has a finger region 42 and a piston region 41. In the connecting region between the finger region 42 and the piston region 41, the floating caliper 40 has a hollow on its inside. The brake carrier 20 also has a hollow space in this region. These hollow spaces together form a shaft 4, which serves to accommodate a brake disc. During operation of the floating caliper brake 1 and when the floating caliper brake 1 is installed on a motor vehicle, a brake disc can rotate in the shaft 4 about the rotation axis 7.
[0020] The side of a brake disc installed in the assembled state that is oriented toward the finger region 42 or is located near it is defined here as a second side 6. The side of a brake disc installed in the assembled state that is oriented toward the piston region 41 or is located near it is defined here as a first side 5. The axis of rotation 7 defines an axial direction A, which runs along the axis of rotation 7 or parallel to it. The plane that is congruent with the axis of rotation 7 is defined here as the center plane 15. The center plane 15 separates a third side 10 from a fourth side 12.
[0021] Two opposing brake pad units 3 are arranged in the shaft 4 so that the brake disc can rotate between them and the brake pad units 3 can brake the brake disc when the floating caliper brake 1 is actuated. An actuating piston 2 is accommodated in the piston area 41 of the floating caliper 40, which actuating piston is displaced in the axial direction A when the floating caliper brake 1 is actuated and causes the brake pad units 3 to be pressed against the brake disc. For this purpose, the floating caliper 40 is mounted so as to be axially displaceable relative to the brake carrier 20. The actuating piston 2 is shown schematically with a dashed line. In the piston area 41, an electromechanical drive 60 is attached to the floating caliper 40. The electromechanical drive 60 comprises a housing 63, a gear 62 installed in the housing 63, an electric motor 61, and an electrical interface 68 in the form of a plug socket.Depending on the application, the electrical interface 68 of the floating caliper brake 1 can be designed as a socket or a plug. The electric motor 61 is only partially visible. In the finger area 42, the floating caliper 40 has a first connecting section 49 on the third side 10. The first connecting section 49 is firmly connected to the floating caliper 40, as they are one and the same cast part. The first connecting section 49 protrudes slightly from the floating caliper 40, facing away from the center plane 15.
[0022] The first guide arrangement 8 is located on the third side 10, spaced from the center plane 15 and comprises a first guide channel 21, which is incorporated in a part of the brake carrier 20 and extends along a first guide axis 18 in the axial direction A between a first end 23 and a second end 24. The first guide channel 21 is closed at the first end 23 and open at the second end 24. The first end 23 of the first guide channel 21 is located on the second side 6, i.e., viewed in the axial direction A, at the level of the finger region 42, and the second end 24 is located on the first side 5, i.e., at the level of the piston region 41. The first guide arrangement 8 further comprises a first guide element 43 with a first guide shaft 44 and a first fastening end 45. The first guide element 43 is firmly connected to the first connecting section 49 by means of its fastening end 45.A screw projects through the first connecting section 49 and is screwed to the first fastening end 45. The first guide element 43 is received with its guide shaft 44 in the first guide channel 21 in a displaceable manner. The open second end 24 of the first guide channel 21 is sealed by means of a schematically illustrated rubber sleeve which is fastened to the second end 24 of the first guide channel 21 and to the first guide element 43. In alignment with the first guide axis 18, as seen from the second side towards the first side, there is a first installation space 11 following the second end 24 of the first guide channel 21. This is primarily determined by the arrangement of the first connecting section 49 and the described manner in which the first guide element 43 is fastened to the first connecting section 49 and inserted into the first guide channel 21.A part of the electromechanical drive 60, including the housing 63, electric motor 61, and gear 62, is arranged in the first installation space 11. An electrical interface 68 is arranged in or near the first installation space 11.
[0023] The second guide arrangement 9 is located on the fourth side 12, spaced from the center plane 15 and comprises a second guide channel 25, which is incorporated in a further part of the brake carrier 20 and extends along a second guide axis 19 in the axial direction A between a third end 27 and a fourth end 28. The second guide channel 25 is closed at the fourth end 28 and open at the third end 27. The fourth end 28 of the second guide channel 25 is located on the second side 6, i.e., viewed in the axial direction A, at the level of the finger region 42, and the third end 27 is located on the first side 5, i.e., at the level of the piston region 41. The second guide arrangement 9 further comprises a second guide element 46 with a second guide shaft 47 and a second fastening end 48. The second guide element 46 is firmly connected to the second connecting section 50 by means of its fastening end 48.This second connecting section 50 is firmly connected to the floating caliper 40 in the piston area 41 on the fourth side 12, as they are one and the same casting. The second connecting section 50 protrudes slightly from the floating caliper 40, away from the center plane 15 and from the shaft 4. A screw projects through the second connecting section 50 and is screwed to the second fastening end 48. The second guide element 46 is received with its guide shaft 47 in the second guide channel 25 and is displaceably mounted. The open third end 27 of the second guide channel 25 is sealed by means of a schematically shown rubber sleeve which is fastened to the third end 27 of the second guide channel 25 and to the second guide element 46. In the . Fig. 1, the first and second connecting sections 49, 50 are arranged diagonally to one another, so to speak. Or one could also say that the two guide assemblies 8, 9 are arranged in a point-mirror relationship to one another, at least with regard to the direction of insertion of the guide elements 43, 46 into the guide channels 21, 25. The mirror image point lies on the center plane 15 and in the area of the shaft 4 or between the shaft 4 and the piston area 41. The first and second guide axes 18, 19 lie in the same plane. The described design achieves the creation and optimization of installation space with suitable force and torque transmission between the floating caliper 40 and the brake carrier 20. Parts of the gear 62 and the relevant housing 63 are arranged in the first installation space 11.These components are therefore arranged comparatively close to the bearing of the floating caliper 40 in the axial direction, which reduces moments and forces in the bearing and material stresses in the corresponding components.
[0024] A second embodiment of the floating caliper brake 1 according to the invention, which is shown in Fig. 2, differs from the first embodiment only with respect to the second guide arrangement 9. For this reason, only the differences will be discussed below. Regarding the general structure of the floating caliper brake 1 and the first guide arrangement 8, reference is made to the corresponding explanations for the first embodiment.
[0025] In the second embodiment according to Fig. 2, the second guide arrangement 9 is also located on the fourth side 12, spaced from the center plane 15, and comprises a second guide channel 25, which is incorporated in a further part of the brake carrier 20 and extends along a second guide axis 19 in the axial direction A between a third end 27 and a fourth end 28. The second guide channel 25 is open at the fourth end 28 and closed at the third end 27. The fourth end 28 of the second guide channel 25 is located on the second side 6, i.e., viewed in the axial direction A, at the level of the finger region 42, and the third end 27 is located on the first side 5, i.e., at the level of the piston region 41. The second guide arrangement 9 further comprises a second guide element 46 with a second guide shaft 47 and a second fastening end 48.The second guide element 46 is firmly connected to the second connecting section 50 by means of its fastening end 48. This second connecting section 50 is firmly connected to the floating caliper 40 in the finger area 42 on the fourth side 12, as it is one and the same cast part. The second connecting section 50 projects slightly from the floating caliper 40, facing away from the center plane 15. A screw projects through the second connecting section 50 and is screwed to the second fastening end 48. The second guide element 46 is received with its guide shaft 47 in the second guide channel 25 in a displaceable manner. The open fourth end 28 of the second guide channel 25 is sealed by means of a rubber sleeve which is fastened to the fourth end 28 of the second guide channel 25 and to the second guide element 46. In the . Fig. 2, the first and second connecting sections 49, 50 are arranged so to speak in a mirror image with respect to the center plane 15. The first and second guide axes 18, 19 lie in the same plane. On the first side, as well as on the third and fourth sides, there is a first and a second installation space in the piston area, in alignment with the first and second guide axes 18, 19. Due to these two installation spaces, further positioning of components (e.g. cover plates, dust collectors) close to the bearing (bearing of the floating caliper) is possible, which results in an overall optimization of the installation space and which reduces moments and forces in the bearing and material stresses in the corresponding components.
[0026] In the Fig. 3 is schematically represented by a rectangle that an electronic control unit 64 is installed in the first installation space 11. In the Fig. 3, many reference numbers have been omitted for clarity. However, the corresponding reference numbers not shown can be Fig. 2. The electronic control unit 64 can comprise a PCB with corresponding electronic components and a CPU. It goes without saying that this electronic control unit 64 can also be installed in the second installation space 13 or that it extends over both installation spaces 11 and 13. The combination with a housing 63 in which the electronic control unit 64 is installed is particularly advantageous. In the course of the electrification of floating caliper brakes, especially with high-performance brakes, water- and dust-proof housings are available, which can also be used to house an electrical control system and its components, thus also optimizing the installation space.
[0027] In the Fig. 3, a brake cover 65 is also present on the second side 6. This brake cover 65 covers, among other things, the fingers of the floating caliper 40. The brake cover 65 has holding sections 66, 67 at its outer ends, which each extend away from the center plane 15. The first holding section 66 is fixed between a screw of the first fastening end 45 of the first guide element 43 and the first connecting section 49 of the floating caliper 40. The second holding section 67 is fixed between a screw of the second fastening end 48 of the second guide element 46 and the second connecting section 50 of the floating caliper 40. This type of fastening of the brake cover 65 represents an advantageous design in terms of installation space.
[0028] The Fig. 3 and described in the preceding paragraphs are of course also compatible with the invention described in the Fig. 1 illustrated embodiment of the invention can be combined and is compatible.
[0029] In the Fig. Figure 4 shows a schematic representation of a motor vehicle 100 according to the invention. The motor vehicle 100 comprises a floating caliper brake 1 on each of its four wheels, according to one or more of the above-mentioned inventive features. Due to the high achievable braking performance, the floating caliper brake 1 according to the invention is suitable for both rear and front wheels.
