Description

BACKGROUND 1. Area

[0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a brake caliper brake and in particular to a caliper brake in which a suction layer is provided on a piston to minimize a drag torque generated during the driving of a vehicle. 2. Description of the state of the art

[0002] A vehicle typically has a braking system for slowing down. In a caliper brake, which is a type of braking system, a hydraulic or electronic pressure element and a brake pad are attached to the side of a brake disc that rotates with a vehicle wheel. When a pedal is pressed, the brake pad is pressed against the brake disc, generating a frictional force that acts as the braking force to stop the vehicle.

[0003] When a vehicle brakes, a piston moves forward to push the back of a backplate, the backplate moves forward with the piston, and thus a brake pad positioned in front of the backplate comes into contact with a brake disc to generate the frictional force.

[0004] When the vehicle continues moving after braking, a specific distance must be maintained between the brake pad and the brake disc. This means that when the piston retracts, the backing plate and the brake pad of the backing plate must also retract with the piston. However, since the backing plate does not move completely backward in a conventional caliper brake while the vehicle is in motion, a phenomenon occurs where the brake disc and brake pad come into partial and temporary contact, a phenomenon known as drag torque.

[0005] Therefore, a device is needed that improves a vehicle's fuel efficiency by preventing the problem of drag torque in a caliper brake. [State of the art][Patent documents]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0021] In the following, embodiments of the present disclosure are described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The following explanations are intended to convey the spirit of the present disclosure to the person skilled in the art. The present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments disclosed herein and can be implemented in various forms. In the drawings, parts not related to the description may be omitted to clarify the present disclosure, and the sizes of the components may be exaggerated to facilitate understanding of the present disclosure.

[0022] Fig. Figure 1 is a side view showing a conventional piston 100 with a hollow shape and a backplate 200, the front of which is fitted with a brake lining.

[0023] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, a caliper brake can comprise the piston 100 and the backplate 200. In particular, the piston 100 can absorb a hydraulic pressure or a mechanical force to move forward and backward in the axial direction. The piston 100 can be hollow. The backplate 200 is positioned such that it faces a front face of the piston 100. In this case, the front face of the piston 100 is a left side of the piston 100 as shown in Figure 1. Fig. 1, and a reverse side of piston 100 is a right side of piston 100. The front and reverse sides of the backplate 200 have meanings in the same way. All the front and reverse sides listed below have meanings in the same way.

[0024] A brake pad can be attached to the front of the backplate 200. When the brake begins to engage and the piston 100 moves forward, the front of the piston 100 presses against the back of the backplate 200. The backplate 200 then moves forward, and the brake pad located on the front of the backplate 200 comes into contact with a brake disc.

[0025] When the brake stops braking and the vehicle then starts moving, the piston 100 moves backward. However, since the backplate 200 is not directly connected to the piston 100, the backplate 200 does not move backward immediately with the piston 100. Furthermore, the rearward-moving backplate 200 can partially and temporarily come into contact with the rotating brake disc, which rotates as the vehicle moves. This phenomenon is called drag torque, and drag torque causes the problem of generating unnecessary braking force and thus reducing fuel efficiency. Accordingly, in one embodiment of the present disclosure, a suction plate 110 is shown in section A of Fig. 1 is provided to prevent the drag torque problem and improve the vehicle's fuel efficiency.

[0026] Fig. Figure 2 is an enlarged view illustrating the state of a piston 100 equipped with a suction plate 110 before or after braking by a brake, after a section corresponding to section A in Fig. 1 corresponds, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is enlarged, and Fig. Figure 3 is an enlarged view illustrating a compressed state of the piston 100 equipped with the suction plate 110 due to braking of the brake, after the section corresponding to section A in Fig. 1 corresponds to the embodiment shown in the present disclosure, which is enlarged.

[0027] Referring to the Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. The piston 100 can be provided with a suction plate 110, which is provided on a front side of the piston 100 and is made of at least one metal, plastic or rubber.

[0028] The suction plate 110 is provided on a front surface of the piston 100, and the center of a front surface of the suction plate 110 is concave towards the rear. When the piston 100 moves forward, the suction plate 110 can engage or bind the rear plate 200. According to the embodiment of the present disclosure, more precisely, when the vehicle begins to brake and the piston 100 moves forward, as shown in Fig. 2, the suction plate 110 provided on the front surface of the piston 100 comes into contact with a rear surface of the back plate 200. In this case, air fills a space provided in the center of the suction plate 110. When the piston 100 then moves forward, the space in the center of the suction plate 110 becomes smaller and the air is compressed. As the piston 100 then continues to move forward, as in Fig. 3, the air in the space provided in the middle of the suction plate 110 is directed outwards and the suction plate 110 draws in the back of the back plate 200.

[0029] When the braking action is complete and the vehicle begins to move, the piston 100 moves backward. In this case, unlike in a conventional caliper brake, the backplate 200, which is drawn in by the suction plate 110, receives an external force that pulls the backplate 200 and the piston 100 backward. When the backplate 200 experiences a certain external force and air flows into the space provided in the center of the suction plate 110, the connection between the suction plate 110 and the backplate 200 is released. Since the piston 100 contains the suction plate 110, a drag torque that would cause the brake pad to contact the brake disc is directly prevented.

[0030] In the Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 is section A of Fig. 1 is enlarged and shown, but for the sake of simplicity only partially, and in a lower section that is symmetrical to section A with respect to an axis of piston 100 in Fig. 1 is, can also be an absorbent layer as in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 are planned.

[0031] The suction plate 110 is attached to the front surface of the piston 100. In this case, the suction plate 110 and the piston 100 can be joined with an adhesive, or the suction plate 110 and the piston 100 can be joined using a nail, a screw (not shown), or a rivet (not shown). Alternatively, the suction plate 110 and the piston 100 can be joined using a combination of an adhesive, a nail, a screw (not shown), a rivet (not shown), and the like.

[0032] The curvature or size of the space provided in the center of the suction plate 110 can be adjusted differently depending on the type of caliper brake and piston 100. The curvature or size can be precisely designed by computer-aided engineering (CAE). This means that the space provided in the center of the suction plate 110 in the present disclosure is not limited to a specific shape according to the embodiment of the present disclosure and can have any shape and arrangement sufficient to draw in the backplate 200.

[0033] Fig. Figure 4 is a front view of the piston 100, which is provided with a plurality of suction plates 110 according to the embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0034] In Fig.Figure 4 shows an arrangement in which several suction plates 110 are provided on the hollow piston 100. In particular, according to the present embodiment of the present disclosure, the several suction plates 110 are arranged on an edge of the front surface of the piston 100. In this case, the suction plates 110 can be arranged at a predetermined distance from one another, such that each or at least one of the suction plates 110 is arranged at a predetermined distance from a corresponding adjacent suction plate 110. In particular, the suction plates 110 can be arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the piston 100.

[0035] However, the size, number, and arrangement of the suction plates 110 in the present disclosure are not limited to the embodiment of the present disclosure, and the embodiment of the present disclosure includes any size, number, and arrangement selected according to the types of brake and piston 100. For example, the majority of the suction plates 110 can be arranged in contact with one another such that the suction plates 110 cover the 360-degree end face of the hollow piston 100.

[0036] In the caliper brake with such a configuration according to the present embodiment, the suction plates 110 are provided on the front surface of the piston 100 to draw in the back plate 200 when the piston 100 moves forward, and when the piston 100 moves back, an external force is generated using a suction force of the suction plates 110, so that the back plate 200 moves back with the piston 100 to prevent the drag torque phenomenon, in which the brake pad is in contact with the brake disc in a braking condition of the vehicle, and thus the fuel efficiency of the vehicle can be improved.

[0037] The suction plate(s) 110 can be made of a material such as metal, plastic, or rubber to minimize the vehicle's weight increase. Furthermore, since the shape of the suction plate(s) 110 and the coupling structure in which the respective suction plate 110 is attached to the piston 100 are simple, the vehicle's costs are reduced, productivity is improved, and thus its marketability is increased.

[0038] According to the spirit of the present disclosure, a brake caliper brake is provided which is capable of preventing a drag torque phenomenon in which a brake pad comes into contact with a brake disc in a braking condition of a vehicle.

[0039] According to the spirit of the present revelation, a saddle brake is provided which improves the fuel efficiency of a vehicle.

[0040] According to the spirit of the present disclosure, a saddle brake is able to prevent a drag torque phenomenon of a vehicle using a simple configuration and coupling structure in order to reduce the cost of the vehicle and improve productivity.
