Abstract
Description
STATE OF THE ART1. Area
[0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a drum brake for isolating noise and a noise suppression device of the drum brake. 2. State of the art
[0002] The squealing noise of a drum brake system is caused by a vibration interaction between a pad (a pad holder) and a drum. Then, all other components of the braking system and an axle system begin to vibrate. Due to an increase in friction, pressure, and temperature effects or changes, the entire system vibrates close to a certain frequency, but in different directions (phases). As a result of the interaction between the components in contact with each other, the system becomes unstable and produces a squealing noise. Consequently, unwanted sound waves diffuse due to the vibrations of components with large surfaces, such as a drum or pad. Consequently, a driver and people outside a vehicle hear the squealing noise.
[0003] Brake suppliers strive to develop a silent and robust braking system regardless of the axle.
[0004] The squealing noise is caused not only by axle components (a steering knuckle, suspension, upper control arm, lower control arm, stabilizer bar, and damper), but by all components, including brake components and brake drums. To separate the vibrations and natural frequencies of the axle system and the brake system, a region connecting the two systems must be considered. In other words, the need for stable braking systems, regardless of surrounding components such as drums and axles, is increasing.
[0005] From DE 20 06 293 A a device for vibration damping and noise reduction on disc and drum brakes is known, wherein a damping mass which carries out the rotational movement by frictional engagement is arranged on the rotating part of the brake, preferably in the area of the rotating part which carries out the greatest vibration amplitudes.
