Abstract
Description
BACKGROUNDTechnical field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a body for vehicles that protects passengers by supporting seats through a panel cross member and an impact support. Description of related technology
[0002] Special vehicles or customer-specific vehicles (also known as PBVs) allow passengers to easily enter the PBV thanks to a low entry height and a level floor.
[0003] Especially in PBVs equipped with an autonomous driving system, it is not only possible to provide passengers with easy entry into the PBVs, but also to ensure a large interior space by using facing seats.
[0004] When such facing seats are used, the front seats face rearward. The front seats are moved toward the instrument panel to increase the distance, so that the front seats are positioned close to the instrument panel.
[0005] Accordingly, in the event of a frontal collision of a vehicle, the airbags in the front part of the vehicle may not be deployed, so that rear-facing passengers may be injured if there are no adequate safety devices for the rear-facing passengers against a (e.g. rear-end) impact.
[0006] The above description as a related art of the present disclosure is provided for a better understanding of the background of the present disclosure and should not be construed as being included in the prior art known to those skilled in the art. BRIEF EXPLANATION
[0007] An object of the present disclosure is to provide a body for vehicles (e.g. PBV) which protects the passengers by supporting the seats by means of a cowl cross member or dashboard cross member or trim cross member (e.g. a cross member, e.g. designed as a support tube, which in a conventional vehicle such as a passenger car would correspond to a dashboard support; hereinafter referred to as trim cross member) and a crumple or impact cushion or support (e.g. an element which absorbs an impact from another element; hereinafter referred to as impact support).
[0008] A vehicle body of the present disclosure for achieving the above-described objects includes an impact support arranged to face an instrument panel (e.g., a panel that would correspond to an instrument panel in a conventional vehicle such as a passenger car, e.g., a panel that separates the passenger compartment from an engine compartment or the front end) of a vehicle with a predetermined space therebetween. The body further includes a trim cross member connected or arranged in the predetermined space in a transverse direction of the vehicle and supported by the instrument panel and the impact support.
[0009] In a seating arrangement in which the rear sides or rear surfaces of the seat backrests in the vehicle face the impact support, the trim cross member may be supported on portions of the impact support to support the rear surfaces of the seat backrests.
[0010] For example, a support rod may protrude from the fairing cross member toward the instrument panel, and the support rod may be attached to the instrument panel at a plurality of locations. For example, a support bracket (e.g., a support tube or support bracket) may protrude from the fairing cross member toward the impact support, and the support bracket may be attached to the impact support at a plurality of locations.
[0011] For example, the support rod may include a plurality of support rods that are (e.g., each) shaped in a shape that diverges upwardly and downwardly from the trim cross member and are attached to the upper and lower portions of the instrument panel, respectively. For example, the support bracket may include a plurality of support brackets that are (e.g., each) shaped in a shape or have a shape that diverges upwardly and downwardly from the trim cross member and are attached to the upper and lower portions of the impact support, respectively.
[0012] For example, a support portion may extend in a left-right, lateral, or transverse direction at the ends of the support brackets. For example, the support portion formed on an upper support bracket may have a greater left-right length than the support portion formed on a lower support bracket.
[0013] For example, a reinforcement element can be coupled to the instrument panel in a left-right direction. For example, the trim cross member can be attached to the reinforcement element.
[0014] For example, both ends of the reinforcement member and both ends of the fairing cross member (e.g., respectively) may be attached to a left and right side panel of the vehicle.
[0015] For example, an upper cross member may be transversely connected or coupled to an upper end of the instrument panel. For example, a tunnel cross member may be transversely connected below (e.g., underneath) the upper cross member, and the fairing cross member may be attached to the upper cross member and the tunnel cross member.
[0016] For example, a central cross member may be connected or coupled transversely between the upper cross member and the tunnel cross member. For example, a panel reinforcement element may be connected longitudinally between the upper cross member and the central cross member.
[0017] For example, a center cross member may be transversely connected between the upper cross member and the tunnel cross member. For example, a seat mounting member may be transversely connected to a portion extending to the floor at the lower end of the instrument panel. For example, a transverse side member may be longitudinally connected between the center cross member and the seat mounting member.
[0018] For example, transverse side elements can be arranged on the left and right sides, respectively. For example, the central transverse element, the seat attachment element, and the transverse side elements can be connected to each other to form a rectangular reinforcement structure.
[0019] For example, seat side elements can be connected between the transverse side elements and the side panels of the vehicle. For example, seat mounts can be coupled to the seat side elements.
[0020] For example, the tunnel cross element can be connected or provided via (e.g. above) and via the transverse side elements.
[0021] For example, top elements may be connected or provided in the longitudinal direction between the tunnel cross element and the seat attachment element.
[0022] For example, the top panel elements can be arranged on the left and right sides, respectively. For example, a lower reinforcement element can be connected or provided between the left and right top panel elements in the transverse direction.
[0023] For example, a trim panel may be connected to a front end and an upper end of the instrument panel. For example, an upper end and a lower end of the impact support may be connected to the cowl panel and the instrument panel, respectively.
[0024] According to the configuration described above, the present disclosure has the effect that, in the event of an impact, the trim cross member installed between the instrument panel and the impact support supports the impact support. As a result, the configuration supports the front seats in contact with the impact support and prevents the front seats from being thrown forward, thus safely protecting the passengers.
[0025] Furthermore, the present disclosure has the advantage that the strength of the instrument panel is ensured by coupling a plurality of reinforcement members to the instrument panel. In addition, the connection strength of the fairing cross member is ensured by attaching the fairing cross member to the reinforcement members. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0035] Embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0036] A vehicle body according to the present disclosure includes an impact support 200 arranged at a predetermined distance from the vehicle's instrument panel 100. The body also includes a trim cross member 300 connected transversely of the vehicle in the predetermined space and supported by the instrument panel 100 and the impact support 200. The body can be used for a variety of different vehicle types (e.g., cars, buses, etc.).
[0037] As in the Fig. As shown in Figures 1 to 4, the front seats 400 and the rear seats (not shown) are installed in the front and rear parts of the vehicle interior. The front seats 400 and the rear seats may be configured in a facing-toward-each-other configuration. Accordingly, passengers seated on the front seats 400 sit in a rearward-facing (e.g., toward the rear of the vehicle) state facing the rear seats.
[0038] The impact support 200 is installed behind the backrests 410 of the front seats 400 and faces the instrument panel 100.
[0039] In detail, the rear surfaces of the backrests 410 of the front seats 400 are in contact with the impact support 200. Consequently, the seats 400 are supported on the impact support 200, and the impact support 200 is installed at a predetermined distance from the instrument panel 100.
[0040] Furthermore, the trim cross member 300 is arranged in a left-right direction (i.e., in the width, side, or transverse direction of the vehicle) in the space formed between the instrument panel 100 and the impact support 200. Further, both ends of the trim cross member 300 are fixed to side panels 500 of the vehicle. The side panels 500 may be panel members including the A-pillar panels or members attached to / in the vicinity of the side panels 500.
[0041] In particular, a portion of the fairing cross member 300 protrudes toward the instrument panel 100 and is secured and supported to the instrument panel 100. Furthermore, another portion of the fairing cross member 300 protrudes toward the impact support 200 and is supported to the impact support 200.
[0042] Accordingly, when a frontal collision of the vehicle occurs, the trim cross member 300 installed between the instrument panel 100 and the impact support 200 supports the impact support 200, thereby supporting the front seats 400 in contact with the impact support 200.
[0043] Accordingly, the front seats 400 are prevented from being thrown forward, so that the passengers are safely protected.
[0044] Further, according to the present disclosure, in the seat assembly in which the rear surfaces of the seat backs 410 face the impact support 200, the trim cross member 300 may be supported on the portions of the impact support 200 (e.g., which contact the seat backs) to support the rear sides of the seats 400.
[0045] In other words, the protruding portions of the trim cross member 300 abut the impact support 200, which supports the seatbacks 410. As a result, the seats 400 are more securely supported by the trim cross member 300.
[0046] The sections projecting from the fairing cross member 300 are shown with reference to the Fig. 4 and Fig. 7. A support rod 310 protrudes from the fairing cross member 300 toward the instrument panel 100. The support rod 310 can be attached to the instrument panel 100 at a plurality of locations. A support bracket 320 protrudes from the fairing cross member 300 toward the impact support 200. The support bracket 320 can be attached to the impact support 200 at a plurality of locations.
[0047] For example, a rod- or tubular-shaped support rod 310 protrudes from the trim cross member 300 toward the instrument panel 100. The end of the support rod 310 is attached and supported at at least two or more locations on the instrument panel 100. This provides more stable support for the trim cross member 300 on the instrument panel 100.
[0048] Furthermore, a support bracket 320 protrudes from the fairing cross member 300 toward the impact support 200. The end of the support bracket 320 is attached and supported to the impact support 200 at at least two or more locations. This more stably supports the fairing cross member 300 on the impact support 200.
[0049] Further, a plurality of support rods 310 may be formed in a shape that diverges upward and downward from the trim cross member 300 and is attached to the upper and lower portions of the instrument panel 100, respectively. Additionally, a plurality of support brackets 320 may be formed in a shape that diverges upward and downward from the trim cross member 300 and is attached to the upper and lower portions of the impact support 200, respectively.
[0050] For example, the upper portion of the instrument panel 100 is a plate or plate-shaped portion formed vertically in the up-down direction, and the lower portion connected to the upper portion is a plate or plate-shaped portion formed to incline downward toward the lower ends of the seats 400.
[0051] Accordingly, two support rods 310 extend upward and downward from the fairing cross member 300. The upwardly diverging support rod 310 is attached to the upper portion of the instrument panel 100. The downwardly diverging support rod 310 is attached and supported to the lower portion of the instrument panel 100.
[0052] Further, a horizontal impact part 200a is formed in the front-rear direction (ie, in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle) at the upper end of the impact support 200. A vertical impact part 200b is formed in a downwardly bent or curved shape at the end (e.g., rear) of the horizontal impact part 200a near the seats 400.
[0053] Accordingly, two support brackets 320 diverge upwardly and downwardly from the fairing cross member 300. The upwardly diverging support bracket 320 is attached to the upper portion of the vertical baffle 200b. The downwardly diverging support bracket 320 is attached and supported to the lower portion of the vertical baffle 200b.
[0054] In this configuration, the two-diverging support rod structure 310 and the two-diverging support bracket structure 320 may be provided symmetrically on the left and right (e.g., in the width direction of the vehicle) of the fairing cross member 300, respectively.
[0055] Further, a support portion 321 is formed to extend in the left-right direction at the ends of each support bracket 320 and is supported on the impact support 200. Additionally, the support portion 321 formed on the upper support bracket 320 may have a greater left-right length than the support portion 321 formed on the lower support bracket 320.
[0056] In other words, as in Fig. 7, each support bracket 320 is formed in a U-shape, and a support portion 321 is formed in the left-right direction at the central portion (connecting portion of the legs of the U-shape) of the support bracket 320 and supported on the impact support 200.
[0057] Accordingly, the support portions 321 of the two brackets 320 that diverge upwardly and downwardly at one position are both supported on the impact support 200. Specifically, the support portion 321 of the upwardly diverging support bracket 320 of the two support brackets 320 is supported, having a greater left-right length than the support portion 321 of the downwardly diverging support bracket 320.
[0058] As in Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, according to the present disclosure, reinforcement members may be coupled to the instrument panel 100 in a width direction, and the trim cross member 300 may be attached to the reinforcement members.
[0059] Referring to the figures, a plurality of reinforcement members are coupled in the transverse and width directions to the instrument panel 100 facing the impact support 200, and support rods 310 are attached to some of the reinforcement members. The reinforcement members may include an upper cross member 110, a middle cross member 120, and a tunnel cross member 130, which are described below. The combination and relationships between them are described below.
[0060] In other words, in a vehicle equipped with a body according to the present disclosure, the instrument panel 100 is long (e.g., vertically) because a low step height (e.g., floor height) is used. Furthermore, a steering wheel, pedals, and the like are not mounted on the instrument panel 100, so multiple reinforcement members are coupled to reinforce the instrument panel 100, e.g., in width. This ensures the strength of the instrument panel 100.
[0061] Since the support rods 310 are attached to the reinforcing members 110, 120 and 130, the connecting force of the support rods 310 is improved.
[0062] Furthermore, both ends of the reinforcement members 110, 120 and 130 and both ends of the trim cross member 300 may be attached to the left and right side panels 500 of the vehicle.
[0063] For example, the upper cross member 110, the middle cross member 120, and the tunnel cross member 130 are installed at the upper and lower portions of the instrument panel 100 and are spaced apart from each other in the left-right direction. Furthermore, their two ends are attached to the side panels 500. The side panels 500 may include panel members including the A-pillar panels or members attached to the side panels 500.
[0064] Furthermore, the upper cross member 110 can be transversely connected to the upper end of the instrument panel 100 and the tunnel cross member 130 below the upper cross member 110. Additionally, the trim cross member 300 can be attached to the upper cross member 110 and the tunnel cross member 130.
[0065] Referring to the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the upper cross member 110 is connected from left to right at the upper end of an upper portion 100a of the instrument panel 100 and the tunnel cross member 130 is connected from left to right in the middle of a lower portion 100b of the instrument panel 100.
[0066] Accordingly, the support rods 310 diverging upwards from the fairing cross member 300 are attached to the upper cross member 110 and the support rods 310 diverging downwards are attached to the tunnel cross member 130.
[0067] Therefore, the support rods 310 diverging upward and downward from the fairing cross member 300 are attached and supported to the upper and lower portions of the instrument panel 100, respectively. This allows the fairing cross member 300 to be stably coupled and supported.
[0068] Furthermore, the middle cross member 120 is connected or provided in the transverse direction between the upper cross member 110 and the tunnel cross member 130. Additionally, a panel reinforcement member 140 may be connected or provided in the longitudinal direction between the upper cross member 110 and the middle cross member 120.
[0069] Referring to the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the central cross member 120 is attached to the bend between the upper portion 100a and the lower portion 100b of the instrument panel 100 from left to right.
[0070] Furthermore, the panel reinforcement member 140 is connected in the up-down direction between the center of the lower end of the upper cross member 110 and the center of the upper end of the middle cross member 120. As a result, the panel reinforcement member 140 increases the connection strength between the members 110 and 120.
[0071] Furthermore, the center cross member 120 may be transversely connected or provided between the upper cross member 110 and the tunnel cross member 130, and a seat attachment member 150 may be transversely connected to the portion extending to a floor at the lower end of the instrument panel 100. Additionally, a transverse side member 160 may be longitudinally connected or provided between the center cross member 120 and the seat attachment member 150. In this embodiment, there are a plurality of transverse side members 160.
[0072] In this configuration, the portion extending to the floor may be formed by an extension of the instrument panel 100, or it may be a floor panel connected to the lower end of the instrument panel 100.
[0073] With reference to the Fig. 1, Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the seat attachment member 150 is connected from left to right, and the lower ends of the front seats 400 are fixed to the seat attachment member 150.
[0074] Furthermore, the transverse side members 160 are connected or provided in the front-rear direction (ie, in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle) between the left and right sides of the lower end of the center cross member 120 and the left and right sides of the seat mounting member 150. As a result, the transverse side members 160 ensure the connection strength between the members 120 and 150.
[0075] Furthermore, the transverse side members 160 are arranged on or near the left and right sides of the body, respectively. The center cross member 120, the seat mounting member 150, and the transverse side member 160 are connected to each other to form a rectangular reinforcement structure.
[0076] In other words, as in Fig. As shown in FIG. 6, the center cross member 120 and the seat mounting member 150 are formed in the left-right direction at the upper and lower portions of the instrument panel 100, respectively. Furthermore, the transverse side members 160 are connected in the front-rear direction between the left and right sides of the center cross member 120 and the seat mounting member 150. Thus, a rectangular reinforcement structure is realized by the combination of these members.
[0077] Furthermore, the central cross member 120 and the seat attachment member 150 extend from the connection points with the transverse side members 160 and are attached to the side panels 500, so that these members can be considered to form a II -shaped (e.g., lattice-shaped) reinforcement structure.
[0078] Since a reinforcement structure is realized by connecting several elements at right angles, the connection strength of the elements can be further improved.
[0079] Furthermore, seat side elements 170 can be connected or provided between the transverse side elements 160 or the side panels 500 of the vehicle. Seat mounts 171 can be coupled to the seat side elements 170.
[0080] With reference to the Fig. 1, Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, a left seat side member 170 is connected from left to right between the lower end of a left transverse side member 160 and a left side panel 500. A right seat side member 170 is connected from left to right between the lower end of a right transverse side member 160 and a right side panel 500.
[0081] Furthermore, the seat brackets 171 are coupled above or over the left and right seat side members 170, respectively. The rear lower ends of the front seats 400 are attached to the seat brackets 171.
[0082] Accordingly, the front seats 400 are stably mounted so that the connection strength of the seats 400 is ensured.
[0083] Furthermore, the tunnel cross element 130 can be connected above and across the transverse side elements 160.
[0084] In other words, in relation to the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the tunnel cross member 130 is coupled across and across the left and right transverse side members 160, which implement the rectangular reinforcement structure or the II-shaped reinforcement structure. Thus, the connecting structure of the tunnel cross member 130 is added to the reinforcement structure, further improving the connection strength between the members.
[0085] Furthermore, top elements 180 may be connected or provided in the longitudinal direction between the tunnel cross element 130 and the seat attachment element 150.
[0086] With reference to the Fig. 5 and Fig. 6, the top members 180 are connected or provided in the front-rear direction between the left and right sides of the lower end of the tunnel cross member 130 and the left and right sides of the seat attachment member 150. Thus, the top members 180 ensure the connection strength between the members 130 and 150. In this configuration, the top members 180 may be connected on the left side or the right side between the left and right cross side members 160.
[0087] Furthermore, the top side elements 180 are provided on the left and right, respectively, and a lower reinforcing element 190 may be connected or provided transversely between the left and right top side elements 180.
[0088] In other words, the lower reinforcement member 190 may be connected in the left-right direction between the left and right upper side members 180. Additionally, the front seat may be attached to the lower reinforcement member 190.
[0089] According to the present disclosure, a trim panel 600 may be connected forwardly to the upper end of the instrument panel 100. The upper and lower ends of the impact support 200 may be connected to the trim panel 600 and the instrument panel 100, respectively.
[0090] With reference to the Fig. 3 and Fig.4, the horizontal baffle portion 200a of the baffle support 200 is coupled to the trim panel 600 in a manner that covers the top of the trim panel 600. The lower end of the vertical baffle portion 200b of the baffle support 200 is coupled to the lower end of the instrument panel 100. For illustrative purposes, the upper configuration of the baffle support 200 is configured for an air conditioning duct.
[0091] As described above, the trim cross member 300 installed between the instrument panel 100 and the impact support 200 supports the impact support 200 when an impact occurs. As a result, the trim cross member supports the front seats 400 that are in contact with the impact support 200 and prevents the front seats 400 from being thrown forward, thus protecting the passengers.
[0092] Furthermore, the strength of the instrument panel 100 is ensured by coupling a plurality of reinforcement members to the instrument panel 100, and the connecting force of the fairing cross member 300 is ensured by fixing the fairing cross member 300 to the reinforcement members.
[0093] Although the present disclosure is described with reference to the detailed embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present disclosure may be changed and modified in various ways without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. Furthermore, it should be noted that the changes and modifications are included in the claims.
