Abstract

The invention relates to a method for determining positional information about the position of a patient positioned in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, a MRI scanner, and a computer program. The MRI scanner comprises at least one transmitting antenna, each of which is configured to generate RF transmit pulses for producing magnetic resonance signals in the patient's body. The MRI scanner further comprises at least one receiving antenna configured to receive a response signal to the RF transmit pulse, in particular a magnetic resonance signal triggered by the RF transmit pulse. The at least one transmitting antenna of the MRI scanner generates an RF transmit pulse with a frequency band outside the imaging frequency band of the MRI scanner. The positional information is determined based on the response signal of the RF transmit pulse.
