Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a stirred mill and a method for assembling and disassembling a housing comprising a grinding material inlet or outlet in a stirred mill.
[0002] Stirred mills are used for the fine and ultrafine grinding of solids in liquids or dry materials. Conventional stirred mills have a grinding chamber in which a stirring shaft with grinding elements is rotatably mounted. These grinding elements can be fixed discs or movable grinding media and reduce the material to a finer size through impact, shear, and frictional forces introduced into the material by the rotation of the stirring shaft. Stirred mills are used in various industries, for example, for the fine grinding of cement components, the comminution of ores and minerals, the production of pigments, paints, and varnishes, the ultrafine grinding of active ingredients in pharmaceutical production, and the processing of, for example, cocoa mass, spices, or proteins in the food industry. Stirred mills are filled with loose grinding media (e.g., balls or cylinders) that move freely within the grinding chamber. The stirring shaft sets the grinding media in motion, causing the material to be ground to be crushed by impact, friction and shear forces.
[0003] In large-scale agitator mills with long and heavy shafts, it is often necessary to mount an additional bearing at the free end of the shaft, outside the grinding chamber, to prevent uncontrolled shaft deflection. In conventional designs, this additional bearing is directly connected to the bottom of the grinding chamber, requiring complete disassembly of the bearing to remove the inlet housing. This is necessary to access the interior of the grinding chamber for inspection or maintenance of the grinding elements. The disadvantages of this approach are that disassembly is time-consuming, causes long downtimes, requires additional lifting equipment or special devices for safe handling, and carries the risk of damage to the bearing components from repeated removal.
[0004] The publication DE 102 32 585 A1 describes a dry collection system for fine powdered sand.
[0005] It is therefore an object of the present invention to create a means of simplified access to the interior of a mill container.
[0006] According to the invention, this problem is solved in each case by the subject matter of the independent claims.
[0007] According to a first aspect of the invention, a stirred mill is provided with a grinding container and a stirring shaft rotatably mounted in the grinding container, extending axially within the grinding container, with an additional bearing arranged outside the grinding container and clamped to an axial end of the stirring shaft, and a connecting flange arranged on the bottom of the grinding container and extending in the direction of the additional bearing. A through-opening is provided in the bottom of the grinding container, wherein the through-opening and the connecting flange have an inner diameter larger than that of the additional bearing, and an adapter ring is provided which can be inserted into an annular gap formed between the connecting flange and the bearing, bridges the annular gap, and can be connected to the connecting flange, and the additional bearing is clamped to the bottom of the grinding container via the adapter ring in an installed state.
[0008] According to a second aspect of the invention, a method for disassembling a grinding container bottom in the agitator mill according to the invention is provided. The method comprises: loosening and removing the clamping ring; loosening and removing the adapter ring; and pulling off the grinding container bottom via the additional bearing.
[0009] According to a third aspect of the invention, a method for mounting a grinding container bottom in the agitator mill according to the invention is provided. The method comprises: sliding the grinding container bottom over the additional bearing until the grinding container bottom is positioned on the grinding container; aligning and connecting the grinding container bottom to the grinding container; inserting the adapter ring into the annular gap and centering the additional bearing and the agitator shaft by securing the adapter ring to the connecting flange; and placing the clamping ring and screwing the clamping ring to the adapter ring and the additional bearing, in particular to a bearing flange provided around the circumference of the additional bearing.
[0010] One of the underlying ideas of the present invention is to avoid the need to disassemble an additional bearing located at the free end of the shaft, particularly in a large-scale agitator mill, by no longer connecting the bearing directly to the grinding chamber base. Instead, the bearing is clamped to the grinding chamber base via an adapter ring and a clamping ring, using the connecting flange attached to the adapter ring. Because the through-hole has a larger inner diameter than the outer diameter of the bearing, an annular gap is created, which is closed by the adapter ring when installed. During assembly or disassembly of the grinding chamber base, the annular gap creates an opening with a larger clear width than the diameter of the bearing, allowing the grinding chamber base to be guided over the bearing and thus providing access to the grinding chamber. The annular gap is dimensioned such that even if the bearing, no longer supported by the connecting flange, deflects, the grinding chamber bottom can still be removed. This simplifies access to the interior of the grinding chamber, for example, for maintenance and inspection purposes, without having to disassemble the mill's additional bearing. This is particularly advantageous in large-scale grinding equipment, as it eliminates the need for lifting equipment to remove the heavy bearings. Assembly and disassembly are further simplified if the grinding chamber bottom is integrated with a platform that is movable relative to the grinding chamber during assembly and disassembly. In addition to shortening work cycles, the fixed clamping of the bearing to the shaft and the avoidance of repeated installation and removal extend the bearing's service life.Furthermore, misalignments that can occur during repeated assembly can be avoided by the centering effect of the adapter ring. Since the adapter ring has a conical centering section, precise alignment of the agitator shaft and the additional bearing during assembly is also advantageously possible. While the advantages of the agitator mill according to the invention are particularly evident in connection with large-scale agitator mills with long agitator shafts, for example in the cement or mining industries, the agitator mill designed according to the invention can also be scaled for other mill sizes and applications and, for example, implemented as a smaller mill in the food and pharmaceutical industries or as a laboratory mill. The methods according to the invention advantageously enable orderly and rapid assembly.Disassembly in just a few steps, whereby the grinding container bottom is simply pushed over the additional bearing, which remains connected to the shaft.
[0011] Advantageous embodiments and further developments result from the dependent claims relating back to the independent claims and from the description with reference to the figures.
[0012] According to one embodiment, a housing is provided on the bottom of the grinding container, positioned between the bottom of the grinding container and the additional bearing. The through-opening extends from the bottom of the grinding container through the housing, and the connecting flange is located on an outer surface of the housing facing the bearing. In its installed state, the additional bearing is clamped to the housing via the adapter ring. For installation or removal, the housing does not need to be disassembled separately; instead, it can be pulled over the bearing together with the bottom of the grinding container.
[0013] According to one embodiment, a clamping ring is provided, wherein the clamping ring is screwed to the adapter ring and the additional bearing in the installed state, in particular to a flange provided around the circumference of the bearing. The screwing of the clamping ring to the adapter ring and the bearing flange creates a stable and positive-locking connection that ensures reliable force transmission between the components. The clamping ring also allows for easy separation of the connection between the bearing and the adapter ring, so that the annular gap open after removal of the adapter ring allows the grinding container base, or the grinding container base and housing, to be pulled off the bearing or the agitator shaft.
[0014] According to a further development, the clamping ring is formed from several independent clamping ring segments. In the installed state, the clamping ring segments are bolted to the adapter ring and the additional bearing, specifically to a bearing flange provided around the circumference of the additional bearing. Since the clamping ring segments can be individually mounted and dismounted, there is no need to slide a complete, closed clamping ring over the shaft or bearing. This allows for step-by-step disassembly. The clamping ring segments can be individually attached and adjusted, advantageously achieving uniform clamping with the adapter ring and the bearing flange.
[0015] According to one embodiment, the adapter ring has a conical centering section that can be inserted between the additional bearing and the connecting flange, centering the additional bearing relative to the connecting flange. The conical centering section automatically aligns the additional bearing precisely and reproducibly relative to the connecting flange, thus preventing misalignment. Furthermore, the adapter ring with the conical section facilitates the axial insertion of the bearing into the installation position, as the conical action allows it to automatically slide or be pulled into the correct position.
[0016] According to a further development, at least one load-bearing support element, which can engage with the additional bearing, is provided. The support element can be designed as a hydraulically or pneumatically actuated lifting cylinder, a support strut, or a piston that is movable towards the bearing and connected or connectable to the grinding container bottom, the housing, or a housing base. The support element can also be integrated into a platform of the agitator mill or, if required, arranged under the bearing or a support point. During disassembly, the support element advantageously absorbs a portion of the bending forces acting on the agitator shaft, thereby reducing the mechanical load on the shaft. Instead of a support element as described above, suspension points, such as eyelets or hooks, can also be provided on the bearing for connection to a lifting device located above the bearing.
[0017] According to a further development of the disassembly procedure, a housing with a grinding material inlet or outlet is provided, which can be positioned between the grinding container base and the additional bearing. When removing the grinding container base, the base and the housing can be attached to it can thus be pulled off over the additional bearing. This advantageously speeds up disassembly, as the housing can also be guided over the bearing. Of course, the grinding container base and housing can also be guided over the bearing separately, one after the other.
[0018] According to a further development of the disassembly procedure, the clamping ring is formed from several independent clamping ring segments, and the individual clamping ring segments are successively loosened and removed when the clamping ring is released and removed. Due to the segmented design, the clamping ring can be removed piece by piece. Since the individual clamping ring segments are released one after the other, there is no need for the complex or simultaneous lifting of the entire clamping ring, thus eliminating the need for additional lifting equipment or special tools, particularly in large-scale industrial plants. When a conventional, one-piece clamping ring is released simultaneously, uneven stresses can act on the bearing and the adapter ring; therefore, the successive disassembly of the segments advantageously reduces the risk of stress.
[0019] According to a further development of the disassembly procedure, the load-bearing support element is engaged with the additional bearing either before or after loosening and removing the clamping ring or clamping ring segments and the adapter ring. The support element advantageously bears part of the load of the additional bearing and prevents the bearing or shaft from jamming during disassembly. Furthermore, bending forces acting on the shaft are reduced. Particularly in large-scale agitator mills with heavy bearings, the support element enables controlled disassembly, as the bearing support prevents or reduces free cantilevering and the associated bending forces on the shaft. Alternatively, the bearing can also be suspended from a lifting device.
[0020] According to a further development of the assembly procedure, a housing with a grinding material inlet or outlet is provided, which can be positioned between the grinding container base and the additional bearing. When the grinding container base is slid into place, the base and the housing are simultaneously slid over the additional bearing until the grinding container base reaches its installation position on the grinding container. This speeds up assembly, as the grinding container base and the housing can be guided over the bearing as a single unit. Of course, the grinding container base and housing can also be guided over the bearing sequentially, with the bearing then being clamped to the housing.
[0021] According to a further development of the assembly procedure, the clamping ring is formed from several independent clamping ring segments. When placing the clamping ring and screwing it to the adapter ring and the additional bearing, the individual clamping ring segments are successively placed and screwed on. This results in the same advantages during assembly as already described in connection with disassembly.
[0022] According to a further development of the assembly procedure, the additional bearing and the agitator shaft are centered relative to the grinding container flange by the conical centering section of the adapter ring. This conical centering section ensures that the additional bearing and the agitator shaft move or are pulled into the assembly position automatically. Manual adjustments are thus advantageously avoided. Furthermore, the precise centering ensures an even distribution of force, thereby minimizing the load on the bearing, adapter ring, and grinding container flange.
[0023] According to a further development of the assembly procedure, the load-bearing support element is engaged with the additional bearing before the adapter ring is inserted. The support element advantageously bears part of the load of the additional bearing, prevents the bearing or shaft from jamming during assembly, and aids in centering. Particularly in large-scale agitator mills with heavy bearings, the support element enables controlled assembly, as the bearing support prevents or reduces free cantilevering and the associated bending forces on the shaft. Alternatively, the bearing can also be suspended from a lifting device.

[0029] Dashed lines in the figures of the drawings indicate that the connections between the components connecting the dashed lines do not necessarily have to have physical contact with each other, but can equally be wirelessly coupled to each other.
[0030] Fig. Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a section of a stirred mill 10 according to an embodiment of the invention. The stirred mill 10 comprises a Fig. 1. Grinding container 11 (not shown), in which a rotatably mounted stirring shaft 12 extending along the longitudinal axis L of the grinding container 11 is arranged. The stirring shaft 12 projects beyond the Fig. 1. Grinding chamber 30 (not shown) in the longitudinal direction. The axial end 13 of the agitator shaft 12 is clamped to an additional bearing 14 located outside the grinding chamber 11. In the exemplary embodiment, the grinding chamber bottom 15 (not shown) is connected to a housing 19 surrounding a material inlet or outlet, which adjoins and is connected to the grinding chamber bottom 15 in the axial direction. The housing 19 has a connecting flange 21 extending in the direction of the additional bearing 14. A through-hole 16, leading into the grinding chamber 30 and through which the agitator shaft is guided into the grinding chamber 30, extends between the grinding container base 15 and the housing 19. The through-hole 16, like the connecting flange 21, has an inner diameter 17 that is larger than the outer diameter 18 of the additional bearing 14. The connecting flange 21 is attached to the outer surface 20 of the housing 19 and surrounds the through-hole 16.An adapter ring 22 is inserted between the connecting flange 21 and the additional bearing 14. The adapter ring 22 is screwed to the connecting flange 21. The adapter ring 22 is provided with a conical centering section 23, which rests against an inclined surface 24 of the connecting flange 21 facing the adapter ring 22. In the assembled state, a flat inner circumferential surface 25 of the adapter ring 22 rests on the outer circumferential surface 26 of the bearing 14. The conical centering section 23 is designed to have a self-centering effect during assembly, guiding the additional bearing 14 into a precise position relative to the connecting flange 21. The conical shape allows the adapter ring 22 to automatically pull the bearing 14 into the correct position during assembly, thus preventing misalignment. In addition, the conical design facilitates the insertion of the adapter ring 22, as it sits axially on the bearing 14 when the screw connection is tightened, creating a uniform contact surface and simultaneously being drawn into the connecting flange 21.
[0031] The adapter ring 22 is screwed to the bearing flange 28, which is provided around the bearing 14, on one side and to the adapter ring 22 on the other side, via a clamping ring 27 formed from several independent clamping ring segments 27a. The split clamping ring 27 secures the connection between the adapter ring 22 and the bearing flange 28, thus axially stabilizing the additional bearing 14. An annular gap 29 is provided between the connecting flange 21 and the additional bearing 14, which is bridged by the adapter ring 22 when assembled. The annular gap 29 is dimensioned such that its width, when the adapter ring 22 is removed, is greater than the amount of deflection of the bearing 14 caused by any deflection of the agitator shaft 12. Even with the adapter ring 22 removed, the bearing cannot rest on the through-hole 16.The clear width of the annular gap 29 thus allows, after removal of the adapter ring 22, the housing 19 and the grinding container base 15 connected to it to be moved axially over the bearing 14, i.e., displaced axially, without having to remove the bearing 14 from the agitator shaft 12. When disassembling the housing 19, the split clamping ring 27 is first loosened and removed. Then the adapter ring 22 is removed, exposing the annular gap 29. This allows access to the interior of the grinding container 11 without the need for the complex disassembly of the additional bearing 14.
[0032] Fig. Figure 2 shows a side sectional view of a stirred mill 10 according to an embodiment of the invention. The stirred mill 10 comprises a stirring shaft 12 extending along the longitudinal axis L, which is rotatably mounted within the grinding container 11. The stirring shaft 12 is mounted in at least one further bearing 31 (in Fig. (2 not shown). At the free axial end 13 of the agitator shaft 12, which projects beyond the grinding container 11, an additional bearing 14 is arranged outside the grinding container 11. This bearing serves to stabilize the agitator shaft 12 and prevent uncontrolled deflection. The additional bearing 14 is clamped to the agitator shaft 12 and is secured to the connecting flange 21 of the housing 19, which in this embodiment is located on the bottom 15 of the grinding container and is an inlet housing for a material to be ground, via an adapter ring 22 and a split clamping ring 27. The housing 19 enables the controlled feeding of the material to be ground into the grinding container 11, where it is crushed by the grinding media located in the grinding chamber 30 when the agitator shaft 12 rotates.
[0033] As in connection with Fig. As described in Figure 1, the adapter ring 22 has a conical centering section 23 located between the additional bearing 14 and the connecting flange 21 arranged on the outer surface 40 of the housing 19, and centers the bearing 14 relative to the connecting flange 21. An annular gap 29 is provided between the additional bearing 14 and the connecting flange 21, the clear width of which is dimensioned such that the housing 19 and the grinding container base 15 connected to it can be moved along the longitudinal axis L over the additional bearing 14 without collision. This allows the housing 19 and the grinding container base 15 to be disassembled without removing the additional bearing 14, so that, for example, maintenance or inspection work can be carried out on the agitator elements 32 inside the grinding container 11.
[0034] The agitator shaft 12 extends through the entire grinding container 11 and has, at a second end 33 opposite the additional bearing 14, an outlet housing 34 and a separating device 35 provided in the grinding container 11. The separating device 35 serves to separate grinding media (not shown) from the material being ground before it leaves the grinding container 11 via the outlet housing 34. The agitator shaft 12 is connected to a Fig. 2. A drive (not shown) is connected to the agitator shaft 12, which generates the rotational movement required for the grinding process. The drive can, for example, be an electric motor connected to the agitator shaft 12 via a coupling or a gearbox. The unit 39, formed from the housing 19 and the grinding container base 15, is shown in the exemplary embodiment of the Fig. 2 is mounted on a platform 38, which is movable in the longitudinal direction L relative to the grinding container 11. The support element 40, designed as a stamp and intended to support the bearing 14 during assembly and disassembly, is also arranged in this platform 38 and can be adjusted in height by means of a crank drive 37 to be positioned against or lowered from the bearing 14.
[0035] Fig. Figure 3 shows a sectional view of a stirred mill 10 according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0036] The illustration shows the grinding chamber base 15, which, when the agitator mill 10 is assembled, is screwed to the grinding chamber 11 and seals it. The grinding chamber base 15, together with the housing 19 attached to it, is removable to allow access to the interior of the grinding chamber, for example, for maintenance or inspection work on the agitator elements 32.
[0037] In the illustrated embodiment, the housing 19 serves as an inlet housing for the material to be ground. The housing 19 extends axially over the free axial end 13 of the agitator shaft 12 and enables the controlled feed of the material to be ground into the grinding container 11. The housing 19 is provided with a rectangular opening 36 for receiving the material to be ground and is equipped with Fig. 3 flange connections (not shown) are connected to the bottom of the grinding container 15.
[0038] Also shown is the additional bearing 14, which is clamped to the agitator shaft 12 and axially arranged downstream of the housing 19. The agitator shaft 12 is supported in at least one further bearing 31 associated with the grinding container 11. An adapter ring 22 is provided to fix the additional bearing 14; this adapter ring is screwed to the connecting flange 21, which is located on the outside 20 of the housing 19. For additional securing, a split clamping ring 27 is provided, which connects the bearing 14 to the adapter ring 22. In order to be able to move the housing 19 and the grinding container bottom 15 over the bearing 14 for disassembly, the screw connections of the clamping ring segments 27a of the clamping ring 27 are first loosened, and the clamping ring segments 27a are removed from the adapter ring 22 and the bearing flange 28 (see figure). Fig. 1) to release the connection between the adapter ring 22 and the additional bearing 14. The adapter ring 22 is then removed from its clamped position on the connecting flange 21, thus releasing the annular gap 29 between the additional bearing 14 and the connecting flange 21. After releasing the connection between the grinding container base 15 and the grinding container 11, the housing 19, together with the grinding container base 15, can be pulled off over the additional bearing 14. Before removing the adapter ring 22, a support element 40, arranged centrally below the bearing 14 in a platform 38, can be moved towards the bearing 14 and engaged with it to absorb any bending loads and hold the bearing 14 in a horizontal position. In the exemplary embodiment, the support element 40 is designed as a plunger, which is actuated by the manual crank drive 37, also integrated into the platform 38 (see Figure 1). Fig.2) height-adjustable and can be placed against the bearing 14. The grinding container base 15 and housing 19 can also be rigidly connected to the platform and combined in a unit 39 that is movable relative to the grinding container 11. For removal, this unit is moved over the bearing 14, making the grinding chamber 11 accessible without having to disassemble the bearing 14 from the agitator shaft 12.
