Item sorting system comprising: a feeder (1) configured to provide at least one item to be sorted, the feeder (1) forming a first area; a movable transport device (2) configured to receive the item to be sorted and to deliver the received item to be sorted, the movable transport device (2) transporting the item within a second area; and an item receiving device (3) configured to receive the item to be sorted delivered by the movable transport device (2) in a third area, the first area, the second area and the third area not overlapping.
