Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a crossbeam for connecting two opposing components, as is known and proven in various embodiments.
[0002] Especially in kitchen units with numerous base cabinets and a continuous worktop, the cabinet carcass forming such a base is typically reinforced with a top panel, or possibly with two strips of engineered wood between the side panels. This is not only expensive but also involves complex assembly, which, particularly with modular cabinets, is usually not possible without tools. Furthermore, such a top panel or two strips increase the volume of, for example, the packaging of a disassembled piece of furniture.
[0003] Against this background, the invention aims to provide a small crossbeam for connecting two opposing components, in particular two walls of a furniture carcass, which is inexpensive and easy to assemble and disassemble.
[0004] This technical problem is solved by a traverse with the features of claim 1.
[0005] In particular, such a traverse is designed so that at least one headed pin protrudes from each end of the traverse along its length.
[0006] Such a pin, preferably having a mushroom-shaped, optionally a hammer-shaped head, locks into place by undercutting after insertion into a keyhole-shaped recess. As a result, the crossbar according to the invention can easily absorb both tensile and compressive forces. Assembly is achieved by simply inserting the head of the crossbar into the keyhole-shaped recess without tools and then sliding it, preferably in a horizontal direction, or vice versa for disassembly.
[0007] Preferably, the crossbeam according to the invention is made of a metal sheet. This crossbeam achieves sufficient mechanical stability through a U-shaped cross-section forming two legs.
[0008] This is further increased by the measure that the free ends of the legs each have a fold.
[0009] In the design of the crossbeam, it is further provided that, along its longitudinal extension, the crossbeam has an angled section at each end, supporting the pin, which lies in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal extension. In particular, it is intended that the angled section points in the direction of the legs.
[0010] This design offers constructive advantages. For example, this angled section can be easily produced from an extension of a back section connecting the legs, whereby the legs and the angled section can be bent in a single operation.
[0011] As already explained at the beginning, the traverse according to the invention is particularly suitable for the manufacture of a furniture body in which the traverse connects the opposing side parts.
[0012] The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, which shows only one embodiment and its use. The drawing shows: Fig. 1: a side view, foreshortened representation of a truss, Fig. 2: a top view according to arrow II in Fig. 1, Fig. 3: an enlarged view of detail III in Fig. 2, Fig. 4: an isometric representation, Fig. 5: an enlarged isometric reproduction of a front face and Fig. 6: the use of two crossbeams to connect the opposite side panels of a furniture body.
[0013] The representations of the traverse 1 according to the invention according to the Fig. 1 and Fig. Figure 2 shows that a pin 2,3 projects from each end of the traverse 1 along its longitudinal extension. Each of the pins 2,3 has a head 4,5 at its free end, in the form of a so-called mushroom head. The heads 4,5 of the pins 2,3 lock into keyhole-like recesses 6,7, cf. Fig. 6, in the components to be joined, according to Fig. 6 exemplified in the side panels 8,9 of a furniture carcass 10.
[0014] The traverse 1 has a U-shaped cross-section through which two legs 11, 12 are formed. The mechanical stability of the traverse 1 is further increased by the provision that the free ends of the legs 11, 12 each have a flange 13.
[0015] Along its longitudinal extension, two angled sections 20, 21 are provided at the ends of the traverse 1, pointing in the same direction as the legs 11, 12. These angled sections 20, 21, which are essentially bent extensions of the back 22 connecting the legs 11, 12, support the pins 2, 3 with heads 4, 5.
[0016] The connection between the pins 2,3 and the bends 20,21 can be made in many ways, e.g. by screwing or riveting, possibly also by gluing or welding.
[0017] In the embodiment, a core 25 with teeth 26 is fixed at the bends 20, 21, onto which a plastic molded part 27 with a sleeve 28, which carries the head 29, is pressed, cf. Fig. 3, wherein the teeth 26 engage in the plastic material of the sleeve 28.
[0018] Fig. Figure 6 shows the connection of the two side panels 8, 9 of the furniture carcass 10 by two crossbeams 30, 31. If necessary, a third and possibly further crossbeams could be provided for connecting the side panels 8, 9, e.g., a crossbeam that engages in the recess 6 and an opposite one. Alternatively, the crossbeam 31 can be inserted into the recess 7 and an opposite one, so that the groove 32 for receiving a back panel (not shown) lies behind the crossbeam 31, not as in [reference missing]. Fig. 6 shown, before.
[0019] When using crossbeams 30, 31, a separate top is not required for the furniture carcass 10. The carcass 10 is covered by a worktop (not shown). The back 22 of the crossbeam 1 has further openings 33, 34, which may be used to fix such a worktop by screwing it in place.
