Description

[0001] The invention relates to a paint and protective cover for spherical bearings (1) for covering the spherical bearing (3) during the painting of a hydraulic cylinder.

[0002] When painting rod ends (4) (e.g. on the hydraulic cylinder), it is necessary to leave the spherical bearing (3) unpainted during the painting process. To achieve this, it is known to mask the affected area with self-adhesive films, adhesive tapes or the like. The disadvantages of these measures are the high manual labor required and the consumption of disposable material.

[0003] The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a paint cover (1) for covering spherical bearings (3) that are not to be painted, which overcomes the problems described.

[0004] This object is achieved by a paint and protective cover for spherical bearings (1).The paint and protective cover (1) according to the invention comprises a cover preformed according to a surface design of the joint bearing (3). The cover has a high degree of accuracy of fit, therefore the cover (1) can be very easily and quickly mounted on the corresponding joint bearing (3) and removed with the aid of a specially manufactured disassembly tool (2), thereby avoiding possible paint damage. By using the cover (1) according to the invention, extremely clean paint edges can be achieved in a boundary area between the painted and covered surface. Masking in the edge area of the cover (1) can be dispensed with. The required post-processing effort is thus reduced to a minimum.

[0005] Plastics that have optimal low residual flexibility are suitable for manufacturing the paint and protective cover (1).This is of crucial importance for ensuring a tight seal when applying it to the spherical bearing (3) to be covered for painting. Furthermore, the material is robust and durable, allows for high load bearings and is resistant to impacts and wear, making it ideal for use as a protective cover for the spherical bearings (3) during further transport of the hydraulic cylinders.

[0006] The paint and protective cover for spherical bearings (1) is designed as a reusable item. The material and manufacturing costs of the cover (1) are therefore calculated such that single or multiple uses are economically justifiable.

[0007] Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the remaining subclaims.

[0008] The invention is explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment: A hydraulic cylinder must be painted; any existing spherical bearings (3) must be left out in the process.A cover (1) is manufactured from plastic, designed to fit the required joint bearing size. The resulting paint and protective cover (1) can be easily and quickly inserted into the joint bearing by simply pressing it in. The usual adhesive tape covering is omitted. The cylinder can then be painted. After the painting process, the cover (1) is removed. It can be seen that there is little to no paint misting in the covered area; even at the edges of the covered surface, only very slight traces are visible.
