Description

[0001] The invention relates to an awning which has a bearing axis which is rotatably mounted by means of a drive device between two laterally spaced-apart, subject-fixed mounting elements and onto which the awning covering is wound, wherein the two mounting elements are connected by means of connecting elements to an awning front element which is oriented parallel to the bearing axis and to which the front edge of the awning covering is fastened.

[0002] The above-mentioned subject may be a residential building, a weekend house, a mobile home, a caravan, a garden house, a pergola, or similar.

[0003] A roll-up awning with at least one drop rod provided on foldable tubular outriggers and tension elements arranged at least partially on the outriggers, which can optionally be tensioned during the folding process, is known from DE 2 316 527 A. In this known awning, the tension element is mounted entirely in the outrigger and its end facing the drop rods is accessible from the outside of the outrigger.

[0004] DE 19 30 945 C discloses a retractable awning with an awning fabric attached to foldable outriggers by means of a drop rod and two separate support rods arranged coaxially to each other and parallel to the fabric roller. The outer ends of the support rods carry the bearings for the fabric roller and the inner ends of the support rods are connected to connecting elements of the outriggers. The support rods can be attached to a structure, such as a building or the like, via support brackets having fastening mouths. In this awning, the connecting elements of the outriggers are attached to the support rods via releasable conical clamps.

[0005] DE 36 10 564 C1 describes an arrangement for an articulated-arm awning for attaching a support tube to a bracket or an articulated arm to a support tube using a clamping device, wherein the bracket or the articulated arm has at least a mouth-shaped receptacle. It is provided that a wedge body, which has a flat bevel and is guided transversely to the mouth in an opening in one of the jaws of the receptacle, can be guided tangentially to the support tube with the aid of the clamping device to such an extent that the bevel allows the support tube to be clamped flush in the receptacle.

[0006] From DE 202 09 746 U1 a device for holding roller blinds, vertically adjustable fabric or slatted blinds as sun or privacy protection is known, wherein at least one arm which can be pivoted by approximately 90 degrees in the horizontal or vertical direction is fastened via a swivel joint to the support rod of an awning for light rays incident from above (ceiling awning) or to vertical wall surfaces in such a way that, if necessary, the arm can be pivoted out independently of the position of the ceiling awning and locks itself automatically in both storage positions.

[0007] DE 20 2005 013 159 U1 describes a side awning made of a standard awning fabric, wrapped around a vertical metal shaft, and mounted next to the horizontal main awning at a right angle to it. The side awning can be connected to the main awning at its outer end.

[0008] From DE 20 2009 001 503 U1 a side awning is known with an awning arm which comprises an awning shaft which can be rotated about its longitudinal axis and an awning fabric which can be wound onto the awning shaft, a fastening bracket for fastening the awning arm to a wall, and a joint for pivotably holding the awning arm on the fastening bracket, so that the awning arm can be pivoted between a vertical non-use position and a non-vertical use position.

[0009] EP 2 500 489 A2 discloses an awning with additional sun protection, comprising two awning arms pivotably mounted on joints about vertical axes on the subject side—i.e., on the building side—with a winding shaft to which a first edge of an awning fabric is attached, and a drop rail to which a second edge of the awning fabric, opposite the first edge, is attached. The drop rail has a guide profile extending in its longitudinal direction, on which the arms are movably mounted along the drop rail. At least one of the awning arms can be resiliently pre-tensioned away from the building.

[0010] DE 20 2023 101 611 U1 discloses an awning system for shading a building with a main awning. The awning is preferably designed as a folding arm or drop awning. The awning is combined with a side awning, which is held on a horizontal pivot arm that is independent of the folding arms or drop arms of the awning and is held directly to the building by means of a dedicated heavy-duty joint. This pivot arm can either be pivoted into a shading position and locked there, in which the awning fabric or the shading panel of the awning can be lowered to provide protection from lateral sunlight, or it can be pivoted into a standby position and locked there, in which the pivot arm and preferably also the side awning attached to it run parallel to the rolled-up main awning along the building wall, preferably above the main awning.

[0011] The invention is based on the object of combining an awning of the type mentioned at the outset with a side awning, wherein the side awning is not noticeable as disturbing when the awning is not in use, and the side awning, together with the awning, provides corresponding side shading in any desired shading position of the awning.

[0012] This object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1, i.e. in that on at least one side of the awning there is provided a side awning which is variable in its longitudinal extent and which is attached to an elongated flexible support element which is mechanically tensioned by means of a tensioning device, wherein the support element extends from a subject-fixed side element to the lateral end section of the corresponding awning front element, and the side awning is attached to the mechanically tensioned support element, wherein the distal end edge of the side awning is assigned to the distal end of the support element and the proximal end edge of the side awning is assigned to the subject-fixed side element.

[0013] The elongated flexible support element can be a rope element, a band element or the like.

[0014] According to the invention, the side awning can be designed as a slatted curtain or as a pleated curtain.

[0015] According to the invention, the side awning can be fixedly mounted on the elongated support element. Another possibility is for the side awning to be slidably mounted on the elongated support element. This latter type of design has the advantage of optimally adjusting the side awning to the respective lateral sunlight in order to achieve the desired level of shading.

[0016] In the awning according to the invention, the tensioning device for the elongated support element can comprise a spring device provided on the side member of the side awning that is fixed to the subject, wherein the proximal end portion of the support element is wound around a coil that is connected to the spring device. By means of the spring device, the elongated spring element is mechanically tensioned at all times in such a way that sagging of the support element is prevented. The spring element can, for example, be at least one spiral spring that is mechanically connected to the coil. It is also possible to design the spring device with at least one helical compression spring that is suitably operatively connected to the coil.

[0017] Another possibility for the awning according to the invention is that the side member of the side awning, which is fixed to the subject, has a deflection element around which the elongated support element is deflected with its proximal end section, and that a weight body is attached to the proximal end of the support element. To ensure that the path of the weight body, which it travels toward the subject when the awning, and consequently the side awning, is retracted, does not become undesirably long, it may be expedient to associate a path reduction device for the weight body with the proximal end section of the elongated support element. The path reduction device can, for example, be designed according to the principle of a multiple pulley block.

[0018] According to the invention, the subject-mounted side member of the side awning can be a mounting body independent of the corresponding lateral mounting member. Such an embodiment can have the advantage that the side awning forms a desired angle with the longitudinal edge of the awning in order to achieve optimal shading by means of the side awning for the given position of the subject with regard to the respective solar radiation. Another preferred possibility is for the subject-mounted side member of the side awning and the corresponding lateral mounting member to form a structural unit. Such an embodiment has the advantage that the assembly of the side member with the lateral mounting member for the elongated support element is possible in a time-saving and simplified manner.

[0019] In the awning according to the invention, the connecting elements between the mounting elements and the awning front element can be formed by toggle levers. Of course, the connection of the laterally spaced, fixed mounting elements to the awning front element can also be realized in another, conventional manner.

[0020] The drive device for the bearing axis provided in one of the assembly elements can be a manual or electric motor drive device.

[0021] Further details, features and advantages will become apparent from the following description in conjunction with the attached drawings.

[0022] They show: Fig. 1 a schematic representation of the awning in a plan view, Fig. 2 a schematic representation of the awning in the direction of arrow II in Fig. 1, Fig. 3 schematically shows in sections an embodiment of the side awning made of slatted curtain, Fig. 4 a schematic representation - similar to the Fig. 2 - to illustrate the proximal end section of the elongated support element shown in sections with a spring device as a tensioning device for the support element, Fig. 5 one of the Fig. 4 shows a basically similar representation, with a weight body attached to the proximal end section of the elongated support element, and Fig. 6 a schematic representation - similar to the Fig. 2 - to illustrate an embodiment of the side awning, which can be adjusted as desired on the elongated support element both at its distal side edge and at its proximal end edge.

[0023] Fig. Figure 1 shows an embodiment of the awning 10, which has a rotatably mounted bearing spindle 14 between two laterally spaced, subject-fixed mounting members 12. The bearing spindle 14 is rotatable by means of a drive device 16, indicated by an arrow. The drive device 16 can be a manual or electric motor drive device.

[0024] An awning cover 18 is wound onto the bearing axis 14. The two mounting elements 12 are connected by connecting elements 20 to an awning front element 22 oriented parallel to the bearing axis 14. The connecting elements 20 are toggle levers. The front edge of the awning cover 18 is attached to the awning front element.

[0025] In order to not only shade the ground area beneath the stretched awning fabric 18, but also to achieve the desired lateral shading, a side awning 26 is provided on at least one side of the awning 10, the side awning being adjustable in its longitudinal extent and attached to an elongated, flexible support element 28. The elongated support element 28 can be a rope, a strap, or the like.

[0026] The elongated support element 28 extends from a subject-fixed side member 30 to the corresponding lateral end section 32 of the awning front element 22. By means of a tensioning device 34, which is provided on the stationary or subject-fixed side member 32 of the side awning 26, and which is described further below in connection with the Fig. 4 and Fig. 5, the elongated flexible support element 28 is mechanically tensioned in each extended position of the awning 10, so that undesirable sagging of the support element 28 is avoided.

[0027] The side awning 26 is attached to the mechanically tensioned support element 28, whereby the distal end edge 36 of the side awning 26 (see Fig. 2) the distal end 38 of the elongated support element 28 and the proximal end section 40 of the support element 28 or the proximal end edge 42 of the side awning 26 is assigned to the subject-fixed side organ 30.

[0028] In such an embodiment of the awning 10 with the associated side awning 26, the distance between the distal side edge 36 and the proximal end section 40 of the side awning 26 corresponds at all times to the distance between the bearing axis 14 and the awning front element 42 of the awning 10.

[0029] Fig. Figure 3 schematically illustrates a section of the elongated support element 28, on which the slats 44 of the side awning 26 designed as a slatted curtain are pivotably arranged. The double arrow 46 illustrates the pivotability of the slats 44. In contrast, the Fig. 1 an embodiment of the side awning 26, which is designed as a pleated curtain 48.

[0030] Fig. 4 shows, in a side view, schematically essential parts of the side awning 26 with the elongated support element 28, shown in sections, whose proximal end section 40 is wound around a spool 50. The spool 50 is operatively connected to a spring device 50, by means of which the elongated support element 28 is mechanically tensioned in each deployed position of the awning 10 with the side awning 26 combined therewith, such that undesirable sagging of the support element 26 is prevented. The spool 50 with the spring device 52 is arranged in the side member 30 fixed to the subject.

[0031] Fig. 5 illustrates, in a side view similar to the figure, a section of the elongated support element 28, wherein the stationary, i.e., subject-fixed, side member 30 has a disc-shaped deflection element 54 around which the flexible, elongated support element 28 is deflected with its proximal end section 40. A travel reduction device 56 in the manner of a multiple pulley system is assigned to the proximal end section 40 in order to reduce the travel of a weight body 58 attached to the travel reduction device 56 when the awning 18 is moved back toward the subject 60. As already stated at the outset, the subject 60 can be a residential building, a holiday home, a mobile home, a caravan, a garden pavilion, or the like.

[0032] In Fig. In Figure 1, the fixed side member 30 of the side awning 26 and the corresponding lateral mounting member 12 of the awning 10 are depicted as independent assembly bodies. However, for storage and assembly purposes, it may be expedient for the mounting member 12 and the side member 30 to form a single structural unit.

[0033] Fig. 6 shows a schematic side view of the side awning 26 attached to the elongated support element 28. A flexible tension element 78 and a flexible tension element 82 are attached in the immediate vicinity of the distal side edge 36 of the side awning 26. A flexible tension element 80 and a flexible tension element 84 are attached in the immediate vicinity of the proximal end edge 42 of the side awning 26. The tension elements 78 and 80 are deflected around associated deflection pulleys 66 and 68 and around deflection pulleys 70 and 72. The tension elements 82 and 84 are deflected around deflection pulleys 74 and 76. The deflection pulleys 66 and 68 are provided on the awning front element 22. The deflection pulleys 70, 72, 74 and 76 are provided on the stationary, i.e., subject-fixed, side member 30.

[0034] If the tension element 78 or the tension element 82 is pulled, the distal end edge 36 of the side awning 26 attached to the elongated support element 28 is moved in one direction or the other in the direction of the double arrow 62. If the tension element 80 or the tension element 84 is pulled, the proximal end edge 42 of the side awning 26 is moved in one direction or the other, which is represented by the double arrow 64.

[0035] The same details are in the Fig. 1 to 6 are each designated by the same reference numerals, so that it is unnecessary to describe all the details in detail in connection with all the figures.
