Description

[0001] The invention relates to a positioning pillow for relieving pressure on the outer ear while lying down, especially for side sleepers, people after ear surgery or wearers of piercings and ear jewelry.

[0002] Conventional pillows are inadequate for this purpose, as they do not fully relieve pressure on the ear and can therefore cause pressure points or pain. The ear support pillow described here is designed to ergonomically support the head, while simultaneously positioning the ear in a central recess without pressure, and adapting optimally to the shape of the shoulders and neck thanks to its flexible sections.

[0003] The invention according to Fig. Positions 1-4 are designed to provide stable and comfortable head support in side or back sleeping positions, with the ear resting freely in the central recess. This prevents pressure on the ear. Simultaneously, the pillow adapts flexibly to the shoulder and neck via a section that is unfilled at the bottom, ensuring stable and pressure-relieving positioning. Structure of the invention

[0004] The ear positioning pillow essentially consists of three parts: 1. Pillow body: made of a soft cotton outer fabric with an inner filling of polyester fibers that are suitable for allergy sufferers, durable and non-clumping. 2. Central recess: a round / oval hole in the middle in which the ear lies without pressure. 3. Flexible neck recess: a lower section without filling that allows the pillow to be pulled apart and thus individually adjusted to the shoulder, neck and cheek. Effect of the invention

[0005] This combination ensures stable head support while keeping the ear completely pressure-free. The pillow is particularly suitable for people with new ear piercings, ear infections, or after surgical procedures.

[0006] The overall design ensures safe, ergonomic positioning and allows for a free, comfortable lying sensation without pressure points. State of the art

[0007] Various designs of head and support pillows are available, all intended to support the head while lying down and reduce pressure points. These include, in particular, conventional rectangular pillows with firm or variable filling, as well as so-called horseshoe-shaped travel pillows, which focus primarily on stabilizing the neck.

[0008] Furthermore, ring-shaped positioning aids ("donut pillows") are known that have a central opening to relieve pressure on a contact area. However, these pillows are primarily designed for pressure problems caused by sitting and do not take into account the anatomy of the outer ear or the movements of a side sleeper.

[0009] Similarly, pillow designs with lateral indentations or height differences are known, intended to facilitate side-lying of the head. While these designs allow some space around the ears, they do not create a clearly defined, pressure-free zone for the auricle. This can lead to localized pressure points, particularly for sensitive ears, such as those affected by piercings, surgery, or inflammation.

[0010] In the medical field, aids for pressure ulcer prevention are known that aim to distribute pressure evenly using soft materials or gel pads. Such systems often require complex handling, are generally bulky, and do not specifically address local pressure on the auricle in typical sleeping positions. Furthermore, they often lack a geometry that adapts to the shoulder and neck contour, ensuring stable head positioning while simultaneously providing complete relief for the ear.

[0011] In summary, the known solutions show that either general head and neck support or general pressure reduction is the primary focus. A combination of ( Fig. 1) defined central ear recess for complete pressure relief, ( Fig. 2) ergonomic head and neck support and ( Fig.3) A section in the lower area that is unfilled and can be flexibly extended for individual adjustment to the neck, shoulder and cheek is not sufficiently disclosed in the prior art. Object of the invention

[0012] The invention is therefore based on the objective of providing a positioning pillow that ensures ergonomic head and neck support when lying on the side or back, while reliably and reproducibly completely relieving the outer ear of pressure loads, whereby easy handling, easy-care materials and individual adaptability to different user anatomies are to be guaranteed. Solution to the task (brief overview)

[0013] The problem is solved by a pillow with a central, round / oval ear recess and a filling-free connecting section located in the lower area, which allows for targeted pulling apart and thus adaptation to the shoulder and neck region.

[0014] The combination of a soft, hypoallergenic polyester fiber filling and a cotton outer fabric ensures stable, comfortable support while simultaneously providing pressure-free support for the ear.
