Description

[0001] This is a protective cover for load securing straps (lashing / tensioning straps) including a ratchet for use in freight transport by road / rail / ship.

[0002] The protective cover developed and long-term tested by the applicant consists of a heavy-duty truck tarpaulin (POLYMAR 8556 900g / m2), which is temperature-resistant in the range between minus 40°C and plus 70°C.

[0003] The protective cover is very easy to apply to the straps with ratchets in any weather. Especially in subzero temperatures, the cover protects the strap and ratchet from icing caused by snow, ice, and freezing rain. The driver can easily handle it at any time (even while wearing gloves). This saves considerable time during loading and unloading and extends the service life of the straps and ratchets.

[0004] The cover not only protects the straps themselves from ice and snow, but also protects transport covers such as big packs and bagged goods, which are often damaged by the ratchet's chafing. This is prevented because the cover separates the ratchet from the direct contact with the big pack / bag, preventing the ratchet from damaging the big pack / bag during transport. Application on open trailers without tarpaulin bodies

[0005] The protective cover has a smooth and a rough fabric side. When attaching, ensure that the rough side always faces the load being secured. This ensures that hardly any ice or snow can adhere to the protective cover. It is also important to ensure that the internal Velcro fastener is facing the direction of travel to prevent water or ice from penetrating. This can be achieved by rotating the cover 180°. This allows the load securing device to be attached to either side, in accordance with legal requirements. Description of the parts

[0006] In the figures the shell is described with the following parts. 1 tarpaulin cutting 2 Velcro hook side 3 Velcro eyelet side 4 tensioning ratchets with fastening hooks 5 tensioning straps HandlingAttaching the cover.

[0007] The cover is attached so that the tensioning strap is threaded from the back through the slot at the top. This slot is then connected to the tensioning ratchet.

[0008] After the tensioning process is finished, the cover is positioned near the tensioning ratchet. Closing the cover.

[0009] To do this, first fold the upper flap of the cover down.

[0010] Then, the side flap of the cover is folded in with the eyelet tape. Finally, the side flap is folded in with the hook tape and pressed against the eyelet tape.

[0011] The cover is now closed. See Fig. 3 Direction-related attachment of the cover.

[0012] The cover is guided over the tensioning belt so that the flap with the hook strap points in the direction of travel.

Claims

[1] Cover to protect a ratchet strap from external environmental influences (e.g., snow, ice, dirt). [2] Cover for a tensioning belt ratchet to protect a load from damage caused by a tensioning belt ratchet. [3] Cover according to claim 1 and 2 characterized by that the cover is made from a cut (1) of a truck tarpaulin (type Polymar 8556). (see Fig. 2) [4] Cover according to claim 1 and 2, characterized by , that the cut is shaped in such a way that a flap is created on each of the 4 sides. The cut-out also has two notches through which the tensioning strap (5) is guided. (See Fig. 2) [5] Cover according to claim 1 and 2, characterized by , that a Velcro fastener (2) is welded onto the top side of a side flap of the blank. And, that a Velcro fastener eyelet side (3) is welded onto the underside of one of the side flaps of the blank. (See Fig. 1) [6] Direction-related attachment of the cover, characterized by , that the cover according to claim 1 and 2, so that it is guided over the tensioning belt (5), that when the cover is closed, the upper part of the cover points in the direction of travel. [7] Variable sizes of the shell according to claim 1 and 2, characterized by that depending on the tensioning strap and ratchet size, different size models of the cover can be used.
