Description

[0001] Holders for Petri dishes used in typical construction work consist of a metal or acrylic frame in which Petri dishes are stacked horizontally (see Poxygrid). ® Petri Dish Carrying Racks from Sigma Aldrich 1 as well as Petri dish holders from CleanControlling 2 Vertical storage and transport of Petri dishes are not possible with standard holders. However, specific experiments in biotechnology, such as observing root growth in Arabidopsis thaliana, require vertical storage of Petri dishes in the incubator. Furthermore, the seams and adhesive joints of standard metal or acrylic holders make cleaning difficult under laboratory conditions. Metal holders are also heavier and therefore more difficult to handle.

[0002] The invention described in claim 1 addresses the problem that, until now, the transport and storage of rectangular and round Petri dishes has only been possible in a horizontal position. This problem is solved by the features listed in claim 1. These features enable the storage and transport of rectangular and round Petri dishes in a vertical position. Furthermore, polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) is used as the holder material, which can be cleaned with common laboratory cleaning agents such as ethanol. The holder can also be manufactured from PETG in one piece. This improves the handling, cleaning, and durability of the holder.

[0003] Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described with reference to the Fig. 1 to 3 explained. They show: Fig. 1. The frame, made from a single piece, for example from PETG, which holds petri dishes in a vertical position on the sides, Fig. 2 the frame according to claim 1, which holds in particular rectangular Petri dishes by means of recesses on the sides, Fig. 3 the frame according to claim 1, which holds in particular round Petri dishes by means of additional recesses in the base.
