Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to the field of body jewelry, in particular earrings, which are manufactured entirely from biocompatible ceramic materials in one piece. Conventional earrings typically consist of several separate components such as the decorative motif, post, and clasp. These components are often made of metal and are joined together by gluing, soldering, or mechanical connection. Such a multi-part construction has disadvantages, including the risk of allergic reactions to metal components such as nickel, as well as the possibility of mechanical failure at the connection points.
[0002] The invention provides an earring made from a single, biocompatible material that does not cause allergic reactions, exhibits increased mechanical strength, and can be manufactured efficiently. The earring is made entirely of a ceramic material and is monolithic, meaning it is formed in one piece. The motif and the post are not connected but are produced together in a single casting or layer by layer. Manufacturing is preferably carried out by ceramic 3D printing followed by sintering. Zirconia or a comparable biocompatible high-performance ceramic is used as the material.
[0003] The invention offers several advantages. The absence of metallic components ensures complete freedom from allergies. The monolithic structure guarantees high mechanical stability, as no fractures occur at joints. Adhesives or solder joints are unnecessary, further enhancing reliability. The smooth, dense ceramic surface is hygienic and easy to clean. Single-step manufacturing reduces production complexity. Furthermore, the seamless structure lends the entire piece of jewelry a high-quality aesthetic appearance.
