Abstract

Radar sensor (1) with a transmitter-receiver arrangement (2) comprising an arrangement of transmitting antennas (3) and receiving antennas (4), and with an evaluation unit (7) designed for evaluating sensor signals from the transmitter-receiver arrangement (2), characterized in that the transmitter-receiver arrangement (2) consists exclusively of stationary components, that radar beams (5) emitted by the transmitter-receiver arrangement (2) scan a planar detection area (11) extending over a predetermined angular range, that angle-resolved distance measurements are performed with the radar beams (5), that object detection is performed within a configurable protective field (13) within the detection area (11), wherein an object detection signal is generated in the evaluation unit (7), the switching states of which indicate whether an object is present in the protective field (13) or not.and that the transmission lobes (17) of the radar beams (5) and the angular resolution of the distance measurements are dimensioned such that an object with a specified minimum object size can be detected within the entire protective field (13).
