SUBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of labeling of fruit and vegetables.
[0002] The present invention relates to a multi-wall label, such as those commonly used for labelling fruit and vegetables marketed in a net or plastic packaging comprising two or more layers or films. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] In the field of labeling horticultural products such as fruit and vegetables, a specific type of label is currently known, known as the "bar label." Bar labels have an elongated, usually essentially rectangular body, from the ends of which two thinner strips emerge, which serve to attach the label to the product in question. This type of label is typically used for labeling fruit and vegetables marketed in a closed net or plastic bag.
[0004] The Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show a piece of fruit (F) contained in a net (M) provided with a conventional prior art ridge label (E). As can be seen, the ridge label (E) has a body (C) that is rectangular in shape and on whose surfaces information can be printed. Respective strips (T) project from the short sides of the rectangular body (C), one of which is usually used to attach the label (E) to the product in question. Attachment is achieved by crimping or stapling using a fastening element (EF), which in this example consists of a metal part that folds over itself in a plastic manner.Thus, by inserting the open end of the net (M) and one of the strips (T) of the label (E) into the fastening element (EF) and folding the latter onto itself so that it "catches" the end of the net (M) and the strip (T) of the label (E), the net (M) is simultaneously closed and the label (E) is attached to it. Fig. Figure 2 shows a detail of the attachment of the label (E) to the net (M) containing the fruit (F).
[0005] Although conventional ridge labels are particularly useful in this context, they have the disadvantage of limiting the amount of information that can be printed on them. Therefore, it would be desirable to have labels with a larger usable surface in this area. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0006] The inventor of the present application has solved this problem by means of a multi-bar label for labelling fruit and vegetables, which has several surfaces or films and thus has a larger surface on which the required information can be printed.
[0007] The label of the invention comprises an elongated body, from each of whose ends protrude strips configured for attachment to a net or bag for fruit or vegetables. In principle, the body can have any shape, as long as the required information, such as product type, origin, weight, etc., can be printed, but the shape is preferably rectangular or square. As for the strips, they usually form a single piece with the body and are also rectangular in shape, albeit with a width significantly less than that of the body. In this context, it is important to mention that this type of label is usually produced in a continuous strip, so that each label is connected to the previous and next labels via these strips.
[0008] So far, a conventional ridge label has been described. However, the label of the invention differs from these in that it additionally comprises at least one additional foil bonded to the body at a portion of its periphery, and whose lower surface, facing an upper surface of the body, is provided with an adhesive. In this way, the additional foil can be repeatedly adhered to and removed from said upper surface of the body to provide an additional surface for printing information.
[0009] It should be noted that the term "at least" implies that the label could have one or more additional foils. Therefore, in some possible configurations, the label could have the body plus any number of additional foils. In this case, the label would have a shape similar to a book with multiple "pages."
[0010] In principle, the adhesive film could have any shape and dimensions, as long as they are smaller than the dimensions of the body. However, in a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the additional film has the same shape and dimensions as the body. That is, the edges of the long sides of the film coincide with the edges of the long sides of the body, and the edges of the short sides of the film coincide with the edges of the short sides of the body. This has the advantage that the surface area that remains hidden until the film is peeled off, i.e. the surface area of the lower surface of the film or the upper surface of the body, can be maximized. In any case, configurations other than the one mentioned above are also possible.
[0011] On the other hand, the portion of the edge of the additional film that is connected can be any length, as long as it is not easily torn and allows the entire surface beneath said film to be exposed. For example, in a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the portion of the edge of the additional film that is connected to the body is a short side of said film, located at the junction between the body and the corresponding strip.
[0012] Ultimately, the label of the invention provides an additional surface for printing product-related information as well as commercial information. Furthermore, this additional surface remains concealed until the consumer removes the adhesive film from the body, which is particularly useful for certain promotional campaigns. This configuration is quite different from what has been previously known, due to the dual effect of surprise or information not visible at first glance, as well as the aforementioned additional effect of a larger printing area. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Fig. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a conventional bar label attached to a fruit net. Fig. Figure 2 shows a detail of the connection of the conventional web label attached to the fruit net. Fig.3A-3C show an example of a double web label according to the invention, wherein the adhesive film is glued to the body, half peeled off and completely peeled off, respectively. PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
[0013] A specific example according to the present invention is described below with reference to the accompanying figures. A double-walled label is shown here, but, as mentioned, labels with more than one additional foil are also possible.
[0014] The double web label (1) is formed from a body (2) and two strips (3). The body has an approximately rectangular shape formed by two long sides and two short sides, with rounded corners. The two strips (3) protrude from the short sides of the body (2) in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the body (2). The two strips (3) also have a substantially rectangular shape, but a significantly smaller width than the body (2). Thus, in preferred embodiments of the invention, the body (2) can have a length between 7 cm and 9 cm, preferably 8 cm, and a width between 3 cm and 5 cm, preferably 4 cm. The width of the strips (3), on the other hand, can be between approximately 0.75 cm and 1.25 cm, preferably 1 cm. These dimensions are in any case guidelines and not restrictive.
[0015] The label (1) of this example also comprises an additional adhesive film (4) connected to the body (2) via a connecting portion (41). The film (4) has the same shape and dimensions as the body (2), and therefore they completely overlap each other. Alternatively, in configurations not shown in the figures, the additional film (4) could have a different, larger or smaller dimension than the overlapping film. In any case, in this specific example, the connecting portion (41) is one of the short sides of the additional adhesive film (4), which coincides with the position of one of the short sides of the body (2). The additional adhesive film (4) also has an adhesive on its lower surface, i.e., the one facing an upper surface of the body (2). This allows the additional adhesive film (4) to be applied to and removed from the body (2) as many times as desired.
[0016] The additional adhesive film (4) not only provides more surface area for printing product information and / or promotions, but the additional surface is also covered when the adhesive film (4) is attached to the body (2). This is particularly advantageous in connection with promotions, competitions, and the like.
[0017] For example, in a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, a QR code (5) is printed on one of the upper surface of the body and the lower surface of the additional foil. Furthermore, a surprise effect is achieved that has not been possible in the form previously provided by any previously known bar label type.
Claims
[1] Multi-strip label (1) for labelling fruit and vegetables contained in a net or plastic packaging comprising an elongated body (2) from the ends of which respective strips (3) protrude, configured to be attached to a net (M) for fruit or vegetables, characterized by , that it also comprises at least one additional film (4) wherein a section (41) of its perimeter is attached to the body (2) and the lower surface of which, which faces an upper surface of the body (2), is provided with an adhesive, so that the additional film (4) can be repeatedly glued to and removed from the upper surface of the body (2) to provide an additional surface for the printing of information.
