Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The invention relates to the technical field of seating furniture and in particular to an armrest structure for a seating furniture. [State of the art]

[0002] Conventional armrest structures for seating furniture typically feature an armrest holder connected to the seat, as well as an armrest pad coupled to the armrest holder, which serves as a support for the user's elbow. In the current design, the armrest holder and armrest pad are typically formed as a single component. However, such a single-piece design has several disadvantages. If either the armrest holder or the armrest pad is damaged, the entire armrest must be replaced as a unit. This leads to increased maintenance and replacement costs and also causes unnecessary material consumption, which contradicts the desired conservation of resources and environmental friendliness. Furthermore, both the armrest holder and the integrated armrest pad are typically made of hard plastic.Resting the user's elbow on such a hard cushion for an extended period can cause discomfort or pain. Furthermore, the one-piece construction limits the design variety of the armrest shape, making it difficult to meet the demands of consumers who value innovative and visually appealing designs. This significantly reduces the market appeal of conventional designs. [Task of the invention]

[0003] The invention is based on the object of creating an armrest structure for a piece of seating furniture in which the armrest holder and the armrest pad are detachably connected to one another, so that maintenance and replacement costs can be reduced and the market attractiveness of the armrest can be increased.

[0004] This object is achieved according to the invention by an armrest structure for a piece of seating furniture having the features specified in claim 1. Further advantageous developments of the invention emerge from the subclaims.

[0005] According to the invention, an armrest structure for seating furniture is provided, on the upper side of the armrest holder, a cover plate with a mounting opening is formed, which corresponds in position and shape to the rotary knob provided on the underside of the armrest cushion. During assembly, the armrest cushion is placed on top and rotated by a certain angle so that two projections formed on the sides of the rotary knob each engage in two corresponding recesses in the mounting opening. One of the projections is additionally locked by the locking head of a locking member, thereby achieving a secure locking connection between the armrest holder and the armrest cushion. If the connection between the armrest cushion and the armrest holder is to be released again, a pin must simply be inserted into the channel from the side of the cover plate and pressed against the inclined surface of the locking member. The pin is guided along the inclined surface so that the locking head of the locking element is released from its engagement with one of the projections of the rotary knob. The armrest pad is then rotated back in the opposite direction by a certain angle, releasing the rotary knob from the mounting hole of the armrest holder. This allows for quick installation and removal of the armrest pad relative to the armrest holder. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0006] The invention and its embodiments are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. The drawings show: Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the armrest structure according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is another exploded perspective view of the armrest structure according to the present invention.; Fig. 3 a first state during assembly of the armrest structure; Fig. 4 a second state during assembly of the armrest structure; Fig. 5 a third state during assembly of the armrest structure; Fig. 6 a first state during disassembly of the armrest structure; Fig. 7 a second state during disassembly of the armrest structure; and Fig. 8 a third state during disassembly of the armrest structure. [Explanation of the preferred embodiment]

[0007] As in the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the present embodiment relates to an armrest structure for seating furniture, which essentially comprises an armrest holder 1 and an armrest cushion 2.

[0008] On the top side of the armrest holder 1, a cover plate 11 is provided, which is fastened to the upper end of the armrest holder 1 by means of several screws 12. In the center of the cover plate 11 there is a mounting opening 13. Recesses 131 are formed on both sides of the mounting opening 13, opposite one another. In addition, two depressions 132 are provided on opposite sides of the wall of the mounting opening 13, near its lower edge. The two depressions 132 are arranged offset relative to the recesses 131, with one side of each depression 132 being connected to one side of the corresponding recess 131 and being continuous. Furthermore, a receiving chamber 14 is provided on the cover plate 11. A locking member 15 and a spring element 16 are arranged in this receiving chamber 14. The two ends of the spring element 16 each rest against a wall of the receiving chamber 14 and the locking member 15.At one end of the receiving chamber 14, a through-bore 141 is provided, which communicates with one of the two recesses 132. A locking head 151 of the locking member 15 projects movably through this through-bore 141 into the corresponding recess 132. A guide part 152 is formed on its end face, which can be designed, for example, as a bevel, conical, or curved surface. Additionally, a channel 17 is provided on one side of the cover plate 11, which communicates with the receiving chamber 14. On one side of the locking member 15, there is an inclined surface 153 facing the channel 17. Accordingly, an insertion opening 18 is provided on the side of the armrest holder 1 opposite the channel 17.

[0009] A rotary knob 21 is centrally located on the underside of the armrest cushion 2. Projections 211 are formed on the opposite sides of the rotary knob 21. The shape of the rotary knob 21 and the two projections 211 are matched to the mounting opening 13 and the lateral recesses 131 of the armrest holder 1, so that they can be inserted therein with a precise fit.

[0010] The two projections 211 of the rotary knob 21 can be engaged or disengaged from the two recesses 132 of the mounting opening 13. One of the two projections 211 interacts with the locking head 151 of the locking member 15 projecting into the recess 132, so that the armrest cushion 2 can be securely attached or removed from the armrest holder 1 by engaging or disengaging it.

[0011] When assembling the armrest structure, as shown in Fig. 3 - first, the armrest cushion 2 is placed on the upper end area of the armrest holder 1. The rotary knob 21 provided on the underside of the armrest cushion 2, together with the projections 211 formed on both sides, is guided through the mounting opening 13 of the armrest holder 1 and the two lateral recesses 131 until they reach the lower edge of the mounting opening 13. Then - as shown in Fig. 4 - the armrest cushion 2 is rotated counterclockwise by a certain angle. During this rotational movement, one of the projections 211 of the rotary knob 21 slides along the inclined guide surface 152 of the locking head 151 of the locking member 15. In the process, the locking member 15 is displaced against the force of the spring element 16 located in the receiving chamber 14, whereby it is compressed. As a result, the locking head 151 temporarily retracts from the associated recess 132. As a result, the two projections 211 of the rotary knob 21 can be transferred by rotation from the lateral recesses 131 into the two recesses 132 of the mounting opening 13, where they are held in position [see Fig. 5]. At the same time, the locking head 151 is no longer pushed back due to the absence of pressure from the projection 211 of the rotary knob 21. The previously compressed spring element 16 relaxes and pushes the locking member 15 back into its original position, so that the locking head 151 once again engages the corresponding recess 132 and locks with the adjacent projection 211 of the rotary knob 21. In this way, the assembly of the armrest cushion 2 with the armrest holder 1 can be completed easily, safely, and without additional tools.

[0012] If the armrest becomes damaged after a certain period of use or if the armrest pad 2 needs to be replaced, it can be replaced as described in Fig. 6 - a disassembly process can be easily carried out by the user.

[0013] To do this, the user inserts a pin 3 into the insertion opening 18 provided on the armrest holder 1, so that it is guided through the channel 17 of the cover plate 11 and comes into contact with the inclined surface 153 of the locking member 15. By further inserting the pin 3, the locking member 15 is guided along the inclined surface 153 and displaced toward the chamber against the restoring force of the spring element 16 arranged in the receiving chamber 14, whereby the spring element 16 is compressed. As a result of this movement, the locking head 151 of the locking member 15 moves out of its locking position with the associated projection 211 of the rotary knob 21 - the locking state is thus released. As shown in Fig. 7, the user can now rotate the armrest pad 2 by a certain angle clockwise so that the two projections 211 of the rotary knob 21 arranged on the bottom surface of the armrest pad 2 are transferred from the two recesses 132 into the opposite recesses 131 of the mounting opening 13 [see Fig. 8]. The user can then lift the armrest cushion 2 by exerting a pulling force upwards, so that the rotary knob 21 located on the underside of the armrest cushion 2 is completely released from the mounting opening 13 of the armrest holder 1. This enables easy and tool-free separation of the armrest cushion 2 from the armrest holder 1.

[0014] The user can then place a new, undamaged armrest cushion 2 in such a way that the rotary knob 21 provided on its underside is inserted into the mounting opening 13 of the armrest holder 1. By rotating the armrest cushion 2 through a certain angle, the two projections 211 of the rotary knob 21 each come into contact with the two recesses 132 of the mounting opening 13, thereby achieving a positive positioning. At the same time, the locking head 151 of the locking member 15 engages one side of the projection 211 of the rotary knob 21, so that the armrest cushion 2 is reliably secured. This makes replacing the armrest cushion 2 easy.

[0015] This design allows a damaged armrest pad 2 to be easily removed from the armrest holder 1 and replaced with a new one—without the armrest holder 1 also having to be replaced. Conversely, if the armrest holder 1 is damaged, only the armrest pad can be replaced, while the undamaged armrest pad 2 can continue to be used. This significantly reduces the maintenance and repair costs of the armrest structure and, at the same time, avoids unnecessary material consumption, which particularly satisfies environmental requirements. Furthermore, the separate production of the armrest pad 2 and the armrest holder 1 allows the armrest pad 2 to be made from a soft, elastic material. This noticeably improves comfort for the user when supporting the elbow for extended periods.Furthermore, the modular design of the two components allows for flexible design. In the event of design changes, only the armrest cushion 2 or the armrest holder 1 can be individually adjusted and remanufactured, further reducing production costs. This also opens up a wide range of options for the end user to customize the chair design—for example, by replacing just one of the two components or by combining different colors for the armrest holder 1 and the armrest cushion 2. The flexible assembly design thus not only increases the design diversity of the armrest but also contributes to enhancing the market attractiveness and competitiveness of corresponding seating furniture.
