Abstract
Description
[0001] The innovation concerns a barbecue oven, in particular a standing barbecue oven.
[0002] Grill trays have already been developed that consist of a bowl as their base and feature a ring-shaped grill plate with an inner opening above the bowl. The grill plate is heated by a combustion process taking place within the bowl and serves as a surface for the food being grilled. These grill trays are ignited by placing fuel into the combustion chamber through the inner opening.
[0003] The problem is that the grill pan radiates a very high amount of heat downwards, meaning it can only be used on specific surfaces. Adding more fuel is also very cumbersome. Finally, the smoke produced during combustion can escape through the very low-lying inner opening and, depending on the wind direction, is often inhaled by people standing around the grill pan.
[0004] Based on this, the task of the innovation is to provide a grill oven that is universally applicable and also offers a high level of user comfort.
[0005] The problem is solved by a grill oven according to the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0006] The innovation relates to a barbecue oven, in particular a freestanding barbecue oven. The barbecue oven comprises a base body in which a firebox opening, closable by a fire door, and an air intake opening, closable by a flue door, are provided. A combustion chamber formed within the base body is accessible via the firebox opening and is bounded on the underside by a grate. A grill plate is provided above the combustion chamber, projecting laterally beyond the wall of the combustion chamber, which laterally defines the combustion chamber. The grill plate is preferably positioned at a height between 80 cm and 110 cm, allowing a standing person to barbecue without bending over. A flue pipe connection is provided in the grill plate, designed for connecting, in particular attaching, a flue pipe.
[0007] The main advantage of the newly designed grill oven is that the firebox door and the draft door significantly simplify both lighting the fire and removing the ash. The flue connection on the grill plate allows the combustion gases to be vented through a flue pipe, so that the gases are released into the atmosphere above those standing around the grill oven, preventing them from inhaling the escaping fumes.
[0008] According to one embodiment, the grill plate is a solid steel plate placed on the upper edge of the combustion chamber wall and secured against displacement by a locking device provided on the grill plate. The steel plate can, for example, have a material thickness of 8 mm or more, such as 10 mm. Preferably, the grill plate is not screwed or otherwise connected to the furnace base. This allows the grill plate to deform without the connection points being subjected to thermal stress, and the locking device ensures that the grill plate cannot be displaced relative to the furnace base and thus fall off.
[0009] According to one embodiment, the securing device is formed by a circumferential or substantially circumferential frame. This frame is inserted into the opening in the wall of the combustion chamber on the inside and thus secures the grill plate against slipping in a horizontal direction.
[0010] According to one embodiment, the locking device is designed such that, when the grill plate is heated, it braces itself against the wall of the combustion chamber. The grill plate expands due to the heat. The locking device is positioned with only a small gap to the wall of the combustion chamber. The heat-induced deformation braces the locking device against the wall of the combustion chamber, thus preventing the grill plate from lifting upwards.
[0011] According to one embodiment, the grill plate is designed to deform when heated, such that the outer edge of the grill plate is raised compared to an area further inwards. This creates a slightly bowl-shaped grill plate with a raised edge, which largely prevents unwanted dripping of fat or other liquids.
[0012] According to one embodiment, the grill plate has a closable cleaning opening. For example, the cleaning opening is a circular opening that can be closed by a lid-like closure element. The closure element is preferably flush with the grill plate. The closure element can be loosely inserted into the cleaning opening or alternatively secured by a screw. The cleaning opening allows residues generated during grilling to be removed from the grill plate. The cleaning opening preferably provides a direct inlet to the combustion chamber so that the residues can be burned off there.
[0013] According to one embodiment, the furnace body has an inner wall that defines the combustion chamber. A heat-insulating wall is provided around and spaced apart from this inner wall. Air can circulate through the space between the inner wall and the heat-insulating wall. This results in a more pleasant radial heat distribution from the furnace body to the outside and reduces the risk of burns from the furnace body.
[0014] According to one embodiment, the oven body has a polygonal, in particular a hexagonal, cross-section. This simplifies the manufacture of the grill oven, as the walls can be formed from sheet metal blanks with multiple bends and the doors from flat sheet metal blanks.
[0015] According to one embodiment, several feet are provided that distance the oven base from the installation surface. This reduces the heat transfer downwards into the ground, thus reducing or preventing discoloration of grass, paving stones, etc.
[0016] According to one embodiment, the feet are height-adjustable. This ensures that the grill oven stands securely even on uneven surfaces.
[0017] According to one embodiment, the feet are made of stainless steel, in particular chromium-nickel steel. This prevents rust stains from forming on the surface where the feet are placed.
[0018] According to one embodiment, a storage area is provided at the level of the grill plate, which is thermally separated from the grill plate. The storage area is formed by a flat element, for example, a plate made of weather-resistant material. The thermal separation is preferably achieved via an air gap provided between the grill plate and the storage area. Grilling utensils, drinks, or similar items can be placed on the storage area.
[0019] According to one embodiment, the storage area is ring-shaped and surrounds the grill plate. This creates not only a large storage area but also a perimeter barrier, ensuring that people standing around the grill oven maintain a distance from the oven's base.
[0020] According to one embodiment, the support surface is connected to the furnace base by several angle brackets and / or flat steel sections. This ensures that the support surface is securely attached to the furnace base.
[0021] According to one embodiment, the firebox door is formed by a flat sheet metal blank with a surrounding frame on the inside. This ensures that the firebox door does not deform, or does not deform substantially, when heated.
[0022] The terms “approximately”, “essentially” or “about” mean, within the meaning of the invention, deviations from the respective exact value by + / - 10%, preferably by + / - 5% and / or deviations in the form of changes that are insignificant for the function.
[0023] Further developments, advantages, and application possibilities of the innovation also arise from the following description of exemplary embodiments and from the figures. All described and / or illustrated features, individually or in any combination, are fundamentally the subject of the innovation, irrespective of their inclusion in the claims or their cross-reference. The content of the claims is also incorporated into the description.
[0024] The innovation is explained in more detail below using figures illustrating exemplary implementations. These figures show: Fig. 1 Example of a grill oven in a side view; Fig. 2. An example of a perspective sectional view of a lower section of the grill oven with a section plane according to the one shown in Fig. 1 shown section line AA ; Fig. 3. An example of a cross-sectional view of the grill oven along a vertically oriented cutting plane; and Fig. 4 Exemplary sectional view of the grill oven when cut along a horizontal cutting plane below the grate.
[0025] Fig. Figure 1 shows a side view of a grill oven 1. The grill oven 1 is tall enough to allow a person standing next to it to grill food on a grill plate 7 located on top. The height of the grill plate 7 is, for example, between 80 cm and 110 cm.
[0026] The grill oven 1 comprises a base body 2 in which a combustion chamber 5 is formed. The grill oven 1 is particularly suitable for firing with logs. The combustion chamber 5 is accessible from the side via a fire door 3 provided on the base body 2, whereby a fire opening can be opened and closed via this fire door 3. Logs or other fuel can also be added via this fire door 3 during the grilling process.
[0027] The furnace body 2 also includes a draft door 4, through which an air supply opening can be opened or closed. The draft door 4 is located below the firebox door 3 and incorporates an air supply control device. The combustion chamber 5 is bounded by a grate 6 in the vertical range between the firebox door 3 and the draft door 4. This grate 6 serves as a support for the fuel. The grate 6 has slot-shaped openings through which air can flow into the combustion chamber 5 via the draft door 4, in particular via an air supply control device provided therein.
[0028] Below the grate 6, the oven base 2 has a base, above which the oven base 2 is closed off at the bottom, so that no embers or ash can fall onto the surface on which the grill oven 1 is located.
[0029] The combustion chamber 5 is bounded at the top by a grill plate 7. The grill plate is, in particular, a solid steel plate with a material thickness of at least 8 mm, and preferably 10 mm.
[0030] A flue pipe connection 8 is provided in a central area of the grill plate 7, particularly in the center of the grill plate 7. This flue pipe connection 8 is preferably welded permanently into the grill plate 7. A flue pipe can be attached to the flue pipe connection 8 so that the flue gas generated in the combustion chamber is directed upwards via the flue pipe, thus preventing smoke from bothering people standing around the grill oven 1.
[0031] The grill plate 7, for example, is simply placed on the upper edge of the oven base 2. Preferably, the grill plate 7 is not connected to the oven base 2 by fasteners such as screws or similar.
[0032] Preferably, the grill plate 7 has a safety device projecting towards the combustion chamber 5. The safety device is designed to prevent the grill plate 7 from shifting relative to the furnace base 2. In particular, the safety device is designed to engage behind the upper edge of the combustion chamber 5 wall on the inside. The safety device can be formed, for example, by angles welded to the underside of the grill plate 7 or by a circumferential or substantially circumferential rim.
[0033] The grill plate 7 is designed to deform when heated by fuel burning in the combustion chamber, such that the outer edge of the grill plate 7 is higher than a radially inner area, for example, the area where the flue pipe connection 8 is located. This creates a bowl-like shape, preventing any liquid and / or fat that escapes during grilling from running over the outer edge of the grill plate 7 and dripping onto the surface below.
[0034] The locking device of the grill plate 7 is arranged and dimensioned such that it clamps itself against the wall of the combustion chamber 5 when the grill plate 7 deforms due to heat. This clamping action also fixes the grill plate 7 to the oven base 2 in the vertical direction.
[0035] Preferably, the grill plate 7 extends radially beyond the oven base body 2, so that a warming area is present in the outer area of the grill plate 7, in which the temperature is lower than in an inner area of the grill plate 7.
[0036] Grill plate 7 preferably has a cleaning opening. This cleaning opening is preferably closable with a cover, allowing food to be placed on this cover and grilled. The cleaning opening can, for example, be an opening extending into the combustion chamber. Grill residue can also be transferred into the combustion chamber through this cleaning opening (possibly after removing the cover) during grilling, for example, by scraping the residue off with a spatula and placing it in the cleaning opening.
[0037] The oven body 2 is preferably made of a sheet of steel. It has, for example, a polygonal wall in cross-section, with the firebox door 3 and the draft door 4 provided on one of the side faces of the polygonal wall. This wall forms, in particular, the inner wall 2.1 of the grill oven 1, which defines the combustion chamber. A heat shield 2.2 is provided on the outside of this inner wall 2.1. The heat shield 2.2 is spaced apart from the inner wall 2.1 such that air can circulate between the inner wall 2.1 and the heat shield 2.2. This results in a heat output that is comfortable for people standing around the grill oven 1. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of burns from touching hot metal parts.
[0038] Several feet 9 are provided on the underside of the oven base 2. These feet 9 position the oven base 2 at a distance from the installation surface. This reduces the heat exposure to the installation surface, so that no or virtually no discoloration of the lawn, paving, etc. occurs.
[0039] The feet 9 are designed to be height-adjustable. This height adjustability is achieved by providing two guide sleeves on the oven base, in which the feet 9 are slidably mounted and can be fixed in a desired sliding position. This allows uneven ground to be compensated for and ensures a stable base for the grill oven 1.
[0040] For adjusting the height of the feet 9, each foot 9 can be assigned a clamping screw 9.1, which secures the sliding position of the foot 9. The clamping screw 9.1 can be accessible from the outside of the grill oven 1. In particular, the heat shield can have an opening through which a tool can be inserted to loosen and tighten the clamping screw 9.1. This significantly facilitates the height adjustment of the grill oven 1.
[0041] The feet 9 are preferably made of stainless steel, in particular V2A or V4A steel. This ensures that no rust stains form on the surface where the product is placed.
[0042] Preferably, a storage surface 10 is provided at the level of the grill plate 7. This storage surface 10 extends at least partially around the grill plate 7 and is thermally separated from the grill plate 7 by an air gap. Preferably, the grill plate 7 is circular. In this case, the storage surface 10 can be annular in shape around the grill plate 7.
[0043] Preferably, the storage surface 10 is made of a weather-resistant panel, for example a screen printing panel or a high-pressure laminate panel, also called HPL panel.
[0044] The oven base 2 and the grill plate 7 are preferably made of sheet steel. For example, the oven base 2 can be composed of several sections of bent sheet steel. The inner wall 2.1, which delimits the combustion chamber 5, can be formed of several sections of bent sheet steel that are welded together. The heat shield 2.2 can be screwed to the inner wall 2.1 by means of spacers.
[0045] The combustion chamber door 3 and the draft door 4 are preferably also formed from a sheet steel blank. Preferably, a frame is welded to the inside of the combustion chamber door 3, by means of which the thermal deformation of the combustion chamber door 3 can be reduced.
[0046] The innovation has been described above using exemplary embodiments. It is understood that numerous modifications and adaptations are possible without departing from the underlying concept of the innovation.
