Abstract

A recyclable waterproof sealing membrane that features the following: a. a bituminous binder comprising a recycled bituminous binder (RBB), optionally a virgin polymer and optionally virgin bitumen; and b. an intensification; wherein the bituminous binder comprises a rejuvenating agent selected from the group consisting of bio-based oils and / or mineral oils, wherein the rejuvenating agent is preferably bio-based, more preferably plant-based, and even more preferably based on pine oil or vegetable oil; and wherein the cold flexibility of the bituminous binder lies between -10 °C and -35 °C and wherein the cold flexibility is determined as described here under the heading "Flexibility"; and the recycled bituminous binder is optionally obtained by grinding and melting waterproof sealing membranes that contain bituminous binder, polymers and a reinforcement.

Claims

[1] A recyclable waterproof sealing membrane comprising the following: a. a bituminous binder comprising a recycled bituminous binder (RBB), optionally a virgin polymer and optionally virgin bitumen; and b. an intensification; wherein the bituminous binder comprises a rejuvenating agent selected from the group consisting of bio-based oils and / or mineral oils, wherein the rejuvenating agent is preferably bio-based, more preferably plant-based, and even more preferably based on pine oil or vegetable oil; and wherein the cold flexibility of the bituminous binder lies between -10 °C and -35 °C and wherein the cold flexibility is determined as described here under the heading "Flexibility"; and the recycled bituminous binder is optionally obtained by grinding and melting waterproof sealing membranes that contain bituminous binder, polymers and a reinforcement. [2] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the weight ratio of the rejuvenating agent to the recycled bituminous binder (rejuvenating agent / RBB) is from 0.005 to 0.200, preferably from 0.010 to 0.150, more preferably from 0.015 to 0.

100. [3] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to claim 1, wherein the polymer is a polyolefin or a styrene-based polymer. [4] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the amount of the added polyolefin polymer in the bituminous binder is between 0.5 wt% and 15 wt%, such as 1 wt% to 15 wt%, preferably 0.5 wt% to 13 wt%, such as 1.5 wt% to 13 wt%, more preferably 0.5 wt% to 11 wt%, such as 3 wt% to 11 wt%, based on the total weight of the bituminous binder. [5] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the amount of the added styrene-based polymer in the bituminous binder is 0.3 wt% to 8 wt%, preferably 0.5 wt% to 7 wt%, more preferably 0.5 wt% to 6 wt%, such as 1 wt% to 6 wt% based on the total weight of the bituminous binder. [6] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the amount of the rejuvenating agent is 0.4 wt% to 15 wt%, preferably 0.8 wt% to 12 wt%, more preferably 1.2 wt% to 8 wt%, based on the total weight of the bituminous binder. [7] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the recycled bituminous binder further comprises recycled oil, preferably obtained by reprocessing mineral waste lubricating oils. [8] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the bituminous binder further comprises recycled oil in an amount of 0.5 wt% to 20 wt%, for example 1 wt% to 20 wt%, preferably 1 wt% to 18 wt%, for example 1.5 wt% to 18 wt%, more preferably 1.5 wt% to 16 wt%, for example 2 wt% to 16 wt%, based on the total weight of the bituminous binder. [9] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the thickness d of the recyclable waterproof sealing membrane is between 1 mm and 6 mm, preferably between 1.5 mm and 5 mm, for example between 2 mm and 5 mm, and more preferably between 2 mm and 5 mm, for example between 2.5 mm and 5 mm. [10] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the reinforcement is a nonwoven fabric. [11] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the reinforcement consists of polyester, fiberglass or a combination thereof. [12] Recyclable waterproof sealing membrane according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the bituminous binder comprises fresh bitumen and the fresh bitumen is present in an amount of up to 75 wt%, preferably from 0.5 wt% to 50 wt%, for example from 2.5 wt% to 50 wt%, optionally from 5 wt% to 50 wt%, more preferably from 1.5 wt% to 25 wt%, for example from 5 wt% to 25 wt%, based on the total weight of the bituminous binder. [13] A method for producing a recyclable bituminous waterproof sealing membrane according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the bituminous binder is obtained by a method comprising the following steps: • Fine grinding of bituminous waterproof sealing membranes, wherein the bituminous waterproof sealing membranes comprise bituminous binder, polymers and a reinforcement; • Feeding the finely ground batch into a recycling plant with at least one rotor and one stator and a micronization chamber, wherein the finely ground batch is heated and melted by the shear force during operation of the stator, the rotor and the micronization chamber; • Optionally, diluting the molten product in a mixing vessel containing fresh bitumen and / or recycled oil by up to a factor of 2 at a residence temperature between 160 °C and 200 °C, adding a thinning agent to reduce the viscosity at 180 °C, so that after addition of the thinning agent the viscosity is preferably between 5000 mPa·s and 25000 mPa·s, preferably between 7500 mPa·s and 20000 mPa·s, preferably between 10000 mPa·s and 15000 mPa·s. [14] The method according to claim 13, comprising filling the molten product into a mixing vessel containing between 15 wt% and 50 wt% fresh bitumen, at a residence temperature between 160 °C and 200 °C, until the molten product is between 50 wt% and 95 wt%, wherein a thinning agent is added to reduce the viscosity at 180 °C, such that after addition of the thinning agent the viscosity is preferably between 5000 mPa·s and 25000 mPa·s, preferably between 7500 mPa·s and 20000 mPa·s, preferably between 10000 mPa·s and 15000 mPa·s. [15] A method for improving the performance of recyclable waterproof sealing membranes comprising a recycled bituminous binder and reinforcement, wherein a tapering agent is added to the recycled bituminous binder, wherein the cold flexibility of the bituminous binder comprising the tapering agent is between -10 °C and -35 °C, and wherein the cold flexibility is determined as described herein under the heading ‘Flexibility’, optionally for one or more of the following: • Regeneration of the polymer; • Reducing the viscosity, preferably to reduce the viscosity of the bituminous binder comprising the RBB, wherein the viscosity is reduced to 5000 mPa·s to 25000 mPa·s, preferably from 5000 mPa·s to 20000 mPa·s, preferably from 5000 mPa·s to 15000 mPa·s; or • Increasing the penetrability at 25 °C, preferably from 25 dmm to 40 dmm, preferably from 27 dmm to 37 dmm and even more preferably from 30 dmm to 35 dmm; wherein the rejuvenating agent is selected from the group consisting of bio-based oils and mineral oils, preferably the rejuvenating agent is bio-based, more preferably plant-based, and even more preferably the rejuvenating agent is pine oil or vegetable oil-based; the recycled bituminous binder is obtained by grinding and melting waterproof sealing membranes containing bituminous binder, polymers and a reinforcement. [16] Use of a rejuvenating agent in recycled bituminous binders; wherein the rejuvenating agent is part of the recycled bituminous binder and wherein the cold flexibility of the bituminous binder incorporating the rejuvenating agent is between -10 °C and -35 °C and wherein the cold flexibility is as described herein under the heading ‘Flexibility’ and is optionally for one or more of the following: • Regeneration of the polymer; • Reducing the viscosity, preferably to reduce the viscosity at 180 °C of recycled bituminous waterproof sealing membranes to 5000 mPa·s to 25000 mPa·s, preferably from 5000 mPa·s to 20000 mPa·s, preferably from 5000 mPa·s to 15000 mPa·s; or • Increasing the penetrability at 25 °C, preferably from 25 dmm to 40 dmm, preferably from 27 dmm to 37 dmm and even more preferably from 30 dmm to 35 dmm; in recycled bituminous binders; wherein the rejuvenating agent is selected from the group consisting of bio-based oils and mineral oils, preferably the rejuvenating agent is bio-based, more preferably plant-based, and even more preferably the rejuvenating agent is pine oil or vegetable oil-based; the recycled bituminous binder is obtained by grinding and melting waterproof sealing membranes containing bituminous binder, polymers and a reinforcement.
