AI Technical Summary
Existing hinges fail to effectively prevent finger pinching injuries due to misalignment, as they require high forces to adjust the gap when fingers are caught, and often result in the door not returning to its desired position, causing damage.
A hinge with a linear guide that adjusts the gap between furniture parts based on their pivoting position, ensuring the gap remains small enough to prevent finger penetration by linearly adjusting the pivot bearing, maintaining functionality and safety.
The hinge significantly reduces the risk of injury by maintaining a consistent small gap across all pivoting positions, preventing finger penetration and ensuring the door returns to its desired position, thus avoiding damage from misalignment.
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a hinge with two fastening parts for indirect or direct fastening to two furniture parts that can be pivoted relative to one another, wherein the fastening parts are pivotably connected to one another via a connecting arrangement.
[0002] The invention further relates to a method for the articulated adjustment of a first fastening part of a hinge relative to a second fastening part, wherein the first fastening part is designed to fasten a first furniture part and the second fastening part is designed to fasten a second furniture part.
[0003] US 2,883,699 discloses a hinge for a pivoting door. The hinge is attached to a door frame with a first fastening element. The first fastening element has a plate, a recess, and the door hinge at the end. A second fastening element connects the door to the door hinge. The second fastening element is designed in two parts, with a plate for connection to the door and an intermediate piece. The plate and the intermediate piece are connected to each other via a hinge. The hinge is accommodated in the recess when the door is closed. A spring is assigned to the hinge, which keeps the intermediate piece and the plate in a linear alignment with each other. To open / close the door, it swings around the door hinge. If a finger is caught in the door gap, the hinge adjusts against the spring force, enlarging the door gap. This prevents injury.A disadvantage is that a force determined by the spring is required to adjust the hinge, which can increase significantly if the hinge parts are not precisely aligned. Due to the comparatively large lever created by the door, a high force can be transferred to a trapped finger before the door gap increases accordingly, which can lead to the finger being crushed. A further disadvantage is that once the hinge is released, the door is no longer held in its desired position. This can cause the door to strike adjacent walls or objects, resulting in damage.
[0004] EP 1 727 954 B1 discloses a hinge with two joint parts for connecting two partial flaps of a folding flap, such as those used for closing wall cabinets. When closed, the partial flaps lie in one plane, while when opened they are arranged at an angle to one another to access the cabinet interior. The joint parts are connected to mounting plates which are fastened to the partial flaps. At least one joint part is displaceably mounted on a mounting plate, being held in a first position by a force-exerting holding device. If the holding force is overcome, the joint part can move from the first position to a second position. While in the first position the partial flaps can be closed normally, in the second position of the displaceable joint part they are arranged at a distance from one another, so that an enlarged gap forms between the partial flaps. This can prevent injury to a finger, for example, if it becomes trapped between the partial flaps of the folding flap. The disadvantage of this is that the hinge part is mounted on a rigid mounting plate, which is directly connected to a partial flap. This results in a rigid, non-springy connection, which, even with a slight misalignment between the hinge components, can result in the force required to overcome the holding force being significantly higher than the desired force at which injury to a trapped finger can be safely ruled out.
[0005] EP 1 766 172 B1 shows a lifting device for a two-wing folding flap. Two wings of the folding flap are connected to one another by a hinge. The hinge has a hinge cup that can be inserted into one of the wings. A hinge pin of the hinge is arranged in the hinge cup. A hinge arm forms the connection between the hinge pin and the second wing of the folding flap. The hinge pin is arranged in the hinge cup in such a way that a gap formed between the wings remains smaller than the thickness of a user's finger throughout the entire movement sequence when opening and closing the folding flap, thus preventing reaching through the gap. For this to happen, however, the hinge pin must be arranged within the hinge cup between the inner and outer surfaces of the wing. The hinge must therefore have a hinge cup recessed into one of the leaves, which is not possible with many materials used for folding flaps, such as glass, or is undesirable for aesthetic reasons. [0006] The object of the invention is to create a versatile hinge which provides protection against injuries to a hand or finger caused by pinching.
[0007] It is a further object of the invention to provide a method which enables the operation of a hinge with a reduced risk of injury.
[0008] The object of the invention concerning the hinge is solved by the features of claim 1.
[0009] The linear guide allows a gap, such as that existing between the furniture parts connected by the hinge, to be adjusted depending on the mutual pivoting position of the fastening parts. This means that the gap can be kept so small for all possible pivoting positions of the two fastening parts and thus of the furniture parts in relation to each other that it is reliably impossible for a hand or finger to reach through. The narrow gap constructively prevents a hand or finger from becoming trapped between the furniture parts connected to the hinge, particularly when the hinge is closing. This significantly reduces the risk of injury to the user. Unlike conventional hinges with pinch protection, no locking connections or the like are opened to create a larger gap if a finger becomes trapped between the furniture parts. The hinge's functionality is thus maintained throughout. The risk of injury, which can occur with such conventional hinges due to an incorrectly released locking connection, is eliminated by the design.
[0010] A simple adjustment of the gap between the furniture parts, depending on the relative pivot position of the fastening parts, can be achieved by arranging a hinge pivot bearing that is linearly adjustable depending on the relative pivot position of the fastening parts. The pivot bearing forms the pivot point of the hinge and thus the relative position of the furniture parts. By adjusting the pivot point, the relative position of the two furniture parts and thus the gap between them can be adjusted.
[0011] Advantageously, the first fastening part can be pivotably connected, directly or indirectly, to the first linear guide element arranged thereon. By moving the first linear guide element, the pivot point of the hinge can be linearly adjusted, thus adjusting the gap width between the furniture parts.
[0012] Simple and reliable adjustment of the linear guide depending on the relative pivot position of the fastening parts can be achieved if the guide device has or is formed by a guide element which is pivotally connected to the fastening parts. The guide element is preferably designed as a lever with a constant, non-changeable length. Due to the pivotable connection of the guide element to the fastening parts, it can follow their pivoting movement by pivoting accordingly. Due to the non-changeable length of the guide element, this pivoting requires a change in the distance between the two fastening parts. This adjusts the linear guide depending on the angular adjustment of the hinge.
[0013] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, it can be provided that a first pivot axis, with which the guide element is pivotally connected to the first fastening part, is arranged at a distance from a pivot bearing, with which the first fastening part is pivotally connected to the first linear guide element. The distance between the first pivot axis and the pivot bearing defines the radius with which, in a superimposed movement, the first pivot axis is rotated about the pivot bearing and the pivot bearing is rotated about the first pivot axis. At the same time, the first pivot axis is guided around the bearing on the second fastening part according to the length of the guide element. The pivoting movements caused by the operation of the hinge require a change in the distance between the pivot bearing and the guide element mounting on the second mounting part, which forces a corresponding linear adjustment of the linear guide element. The distance by which the linear guide is adjusted for a given pivoting of the mounting parts relative to each other depends on the distance between the pivot bearing and the first pivot axis. By appropriately selecting the distance between the pivot axis and the pivot bearing, the width of the gap formed between the furniture parts can be specified for different rotational positions of the furniture parts relative to each other.
[0014] The pivoting of the fastening parts relative to each other with simultaneous linear adjustment of the position of the pivot bearing can be made possible by the first pivot axis, the first pivot bearing and / or a second pivot bearing, with which the guide element is pivotally connected to the second fastening part, being aligned in the same way.
[0015] Preferably, it can be provided that the first pivot axis is arranged pivotably about the pivot bearing.
[0016] In order to ensure a sufficiently small gap width over the entire pivoting range of the hinge, it is provided according to the invention that in an extended position of the linear guide, the fastening parts are pivoted relative to one another in such a way that furniture parts mounted thereon are aligned equally, preferably lying in one plane, and that when the linear guide is retracted, the fastening parts are pivoted relative to one another in such a way that furniture parts mounted thereon are aligned at an angle to one another.
[0017] Particularly preferably, the linear guide can be aligned such that, when the hinge is mounted on a piece of furniture, it is aligned parallel or at least approximately parallel to the surface of the second furniture part connected to the second fastening part. Thus, by moving along the linear guide, only the distance between the two fastening parts and thus the furniture parts mounted on them is changed in the direction of the gap width to be adjusted. Adjustment perpendicular to this is avoided, ensuring that the two furniture parts remain precisely aligned with each other.
[0018] Advantageously, the second fastening part can have a second mounting surface for the second fastening part to rest on the second furniture part, and the first pivot axis is arranged on the side of the linear guide facing the second mounting surface and the second pivot axis is arranged on the side facing away from the second mounting surface. This arrangement causes the guide element to cross the travel path of the linear guide. This enables the pivoting movement of the hinge while simultaneously allowing linear adjustment. Furthermore, when the linear guide is retracted, the guide element engages the gap formed between the furniture parts at a steep angle. This allows the gap width to be kept small.
[0019] The correct formation of the gap between the furniture parts requires the hinge to be positioned precisely in relation to the furniture parts. This particularly applies to the positioning of the fastening parts in the direction of the gap width and thus the adjustment direction of the linear guide. In order to achieve such precise positioning, it can be provided that adjustment means, in particular elongated holes receiving fastening means, are arranged on the first fastening part and / or on the second fastening part for adjusting the position of the first fastening part and / or the second fastening part in the direction of the linear guide. When the hinge is assembled, the gap can be set to a predetermined value in a predetermined pivot position of the hinge using the adjustment means. This ensures that the width of the gap reaches a desired maximum value or a desired value over the entire pivot range of the hinge.does not exceed or fall below a desired minimum value.
[0020] If it is provided that the guide element has a stop surface for the first furniture part when the linear guide is inserted, the pivoting range of the hinge is defined and limited in the direction of its folded-in position.
[0021] A limitation of the pivoting range when the hinge is opened can be achieved by the first linear guide element resting against the first fastening part in an end position of the pivoting range of the hinge when the linear guide is extended.
[0022] The object of the invention relating to the method is achieved by the features of claim 12.
[0023] The pivot bearing forms the pivot point of the hinge and the connection point between the fastening parts and thus the furniture parts connected to the fastening parts. By linearly adjusting the pivot bearing, the distance between the assembled furniture parts can be changed. This allows the gap formed between the furniture parts to be adjusted. Because the linear adjustment depends on the pivot position, the gap width can be specified for all possible pivot positions of the hinge. This allows the width of the gap to be set so small for all pivot positions of the hinge that it is impossible to reach through it with a hand or finger. This measure significantly reduces the risk of injury to the user.
[0024] A gap width that is as constant as possible between the furniture parts over the entire pivoting range of the hinge can be achieved by arranging the pivot bearing on the first fastening element, by increasing the distance between the pivot bearing and the second fastening element when the fastening elements are pivoted, which leads to a flat alignment of the furniture parts mounted thereon, and by reducing the distance between the pivot bearing and the second fastening element when the fastening elements are pivoted, which leads to a smaller angle between the furniture parts mounted on the fastening elements.
[0025] In order to be able to adjust the gap between the assembled furniture parts and at the same time maintain the exact alignment of the furniture parts across the gap width, it can be provided that, when the hinge is installed, the pivot bearing is adjusted parallel to a surface of a second furniture part to which the second fastening part is attached.
[0026] A clear relationship between the hinge's pivot position and the linear positioning of the mounting parts relative to each other can be achieved by linearly adjusting the position of the pivot bearing through a mechanical coupling between the first and second mounting parts. This enables precise and reproducible adjustment of the gap width for the various pivot positions of the hinge.
[0027] Effective anti-pinch protection can be achieved by linearly adjusting the pivot bearing of the hinge as a function of the pivot position of the first fastening part relative to the second fastening part in such a way that a width of a gap formed between the furniture parts movably connected to one another by the hinge is smaller than a finger thickness, in particular smaller than or equal to 6 mm, for all adjustable pivot positions of the hinge.
[0028] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment illustrated in the drawings. They show: Figure 1 in a first perspective view a hinge with a linear guide in its extended position, Figure 2 in a second perspective view the Figure 1 shown hinge with extended linear guide, Figure 3 in a side view the Figure 1shown hinge mounted on a closed folding flap, Figure 4, which in Figure 3 shown hinge with partially opened folding flap, Figure 5, which in the Figures 3 and 4 shown hinge with the folding flap further opened and Figure 6 in the Figures 3 , 4 and 5 Hinge shown with the folding flap fully open.
[0029] Figure 1 shows in a first perspective view a hinge 10 with a linear guide in its extended position.
[0030] The hinge 10 is assigned a first and a second fastening part 20, 30. The first fastening part 20 has a connecting section 27, to which flanges 21 are formed on the sides. A cantilever 22 is also connected, preferably in one piece, to the connecting section 27. The connecting section 27 and the lateral flanges 21 are flat. An elongated hole 26 is formed in each of the lateral flanges 21. The elongated holes 26 are oriented toward the second fastening part 30. The cantilever 22 is U-shaped. It has a base 22.1 and side walls 22.2 formed at an angle on the opposite edges of the base 22.1. The side walls 22.2 are thus spaced apart from one another. The first fastening part 20 is designed here as a stamped sheet metal part. However, it is also conceivable to produce the first fastening part 20 from plastic, for example as an injection-molded part.
[0031] A first linear guide element 23 is pivotally connected to the boom 22. For this purpose, the linear guide element 23 has a joint section 23.1 at its end. The joint section 23.1 is penetrated by an opening. In the outer region of the boom 22, aligned bores are made in its side walls 22.2. The opening of the first linear guide element 23 is aligned with the bores in the side walls 22.2 of the boom 22. A pin guided through the bores and the opening establishes the pivotable connection between the first linear guide element 23 and the boom 22. Thus, a first pivot bearing 24 is formed between the first linear guide element 23 and the boom 22.
[0032] The first linear guide element 23 is designed as a rod-shaped slider. It is guided opposite its joint section 23.1 in a second linear guide element 33 on the second fastening part 30. For this purpose, the second linear guide element 33 is inserted into the second fastening part 30 as a bore, in this case as a through-bore. The first linear guide element 23 is inserted into the second linear guide element 33. It is thus guided laterally and thus transversely to its longitudinal extent and can be adjusted linearly in the direction of its longitudinal extent. The first linear guide element 23 and the second linear guide element 33 form the linear guide.
[0033] The second fastening part 30 has a bearing block 32, onto which fastening sections 31 are formed on the sides. The fastening sections 31 are flange-shaped. They are penetrated by recesses 35. The recesses 35 have an elongated shape. They are aligned transversely to the orientation of the elongated holes 26 in the flanges 21 of the first fastening part 20. At the end, contact sections 36 are formed onto the fastening sections 31 of the second fastening part 30. As can be seen in particular from the Figures 3 to 6 As can be seen, the contact sections 36 project beyond a second mounting surface 34 of the second fastening part 30.
[0034] As in Figure 1 As shown, the second linear guide element 33 is formed into the bearing block 32 of the second fastening part 30.
[0035] A guide element 40 establishes an articulated connection between the first and second fastening parts 20, 30. The guide element 40 is designed in the shape of a lever. It has a base section 41 onto which two mounting legs 42 are formed, running at a distance from one another. The mounting legs 42 are aligned towards the first fastening part 20. First axle receptacles 47 are formed onto the ends of the mounting legs 42. The two first axle receptacles 47 of the two mounting legs 42 are aligned with one another. In the present case, the guide element 40 is designed as a stamped sheet metal part. The two first axle receptacles 47 are formed by appropriately bending the end sections of the mounting legs 42. However, it is also conceivable to form the first axle receptacles 47 using appropriate bores. The first axle receptacles 47 are arranged laterally of the side walls 22.2 of the boom 22.For this purpose, the two mounting legs 42, starting from the base section 41, are guided laterally past the first linear guide element 23. Aligned with the first axle receptacles 47, the side walls 22.2 are each penetrated by a further bore 44. An axle is inserted through these bores and the first axle receptacles 47. A first pivot axis 44 is thus formed between the guide element 40 and the first fastening element 10. The first pivot axis 44 is arranged at a distance from the pivot bearing 24. Mounting tabs 43, arranged at a distance from one another, are formed onto the base section 41 of the guide element 40 opposite the mounting legs 42. Second axle receptacles 48 are provided at the ends of the mounting tabs 43. The two second axle receptacles 48 are formed by appropriately bending the end sections of the mounting tabs 43. However, it is also conceivable to form the second axle receptacles 48 by appropriate bores. The second axle mounts 48 are arranged laterally on the bearing block 32 of the second fastening part 30. A bore extends through the bearing block 32, aligned with the second axle mounts 48. This bore runs transversely to the longitudinal extent of the second linear guide element 33. A bolt is inserted through the bore and the second axle mounts 48. This creates a second pivot axis 45 between the guide element 40 and the second fastening part 30.
[0036] The pivot bearing 24, the first pivot axis 44 and the second pivot axis 45 are aligned in the same way.
[0037] The mounting legs 42 and a part of the base section 41 form a stop surface 46.
[0038] Figure 2 shows in a second perspective view the Figure 1The hinge 10 shown with the linear guide extended. As can be clearly seen from this illustration, the second linear guide element 33 is designed as a through-bore through the bearing block 32 of the second fastening part 30. The first linear guide element 23 is inserted into the second linear guide element 33 and guided linearly therein.
[0039] Figure 3 shows in a side view the Figure 1 The hinge 10 shown is mounted on a closed folding flap. A first furniture part 11 forms a first partial flap, and a second furniture part 12 forms a second partial flap of the folding flap. When the folding flap is closed, the two furniture parts 11, 12 are arranged in one plane. The two furniture parts 11, 12 are spaced apart from each other by a gap 13.
[0040] The first fastening part 20 is mounted on the inside of the first furniture part 11. For this purpose, the first fastening part 20 rests with a first mounting surface 25 on the inner surface of the first furniture part 11. The first mounting surface 25 is formed by the surfaces of the two flanges 21, the connecting section 27, and the base 22.1 of the extension arm 22 facing the first furniture part 11. The first fastening part 20 is connected to the first furniture part 11 by suitable fastening means, in this case by means of screws (not shown) which are guided through the elongated holes 26 in the flanges 21 of the first fastening part 20. The elongated holes 26 enable precise alignment of the first fastening part 20 relative to the first furniture part 11 in the adjustment direction of the linear guide.
[0041] The second fastening part 30 rests with its second mounting surface 34 against the inner surface of the second furniture part 12. The molded-on contact sections 36 engage around the edge of the second furniture part 12 oriented toward the gap 13. As a result, the second fastening part 30 is aligned exactly opposite the second furniture part 12 in the adjustment direction of the linear guide. The second fastening part 30 is connected to the second furniture part 12 by means of suitable fastening means, in this case by means of screws (not shown) which are guided through the recesses 35 in the fastening sections 31 of the second fastening part 30. Due to the elongated design of the recesses 35, the second fastening part 30 can be aligned transversely to the adjustment direction of the linear guide.
[0042] The gap 13 is selected to be smaller than the thickness of a finger. Preferably, the width of the gap 13 is a maximum of 6 mm. The width of the gap 13 is determined by the position of the linear guide. The position of the linear guide is fixed by the mechanical coupling of the two fastening parts 20, 30. This mechanical coupling is achieved by the guide element 40. The guide element 40 forms a lever. It connects the two fastening parts 20, 30. For this purpose, it is articulated to the first fastening part 20 by the first pivot axis 44 and articulated to the second fastening part 30 by the second pivot axis 45. The guide element 40 crosses the travel path of the linear guide. The first pivot axis 44 is arranged at a distance from the pivot bearing 24 of the hinge 10.In the illustrated position of the hinge 10, in which the two furniture parts 11, 12 are arranged in one plane, the first pivot axis 44 is arranged between the pivot bearing 24 and the second fastening part 30. The pivot bearing 24 forms the pivot point of the hinge 10.
[0043] In the Figure 3 In the position of the hinge 10 shown, in which the two furniture parts 11, 12 are aligned in one plane with one another, in the illustrated embodiment, the first linear guide element 23 rests against the arm 22, in this case on the pivot axis of the arm 22. This forms a stop for the hinge 10. The edge of the first furniture part 11 facing the gap 13 can therefore no longer be pivoted about the pivot bearing 24 in the direction of the first linear guide element 23. The alignment of the two furniture parts 11, 12 in one plane thus forms an end position of the pivot range of the hinge 10.
[0044] Figure 4 shows that in Figure 3 The hinge 10 shown with the folding flap partially open. The two furniture parts 11, 12 are, starting from the Figure 3shown closed position of the folding flap, pivoted towards each other by external actuation about the pivot bearing 24 of the hinge 10. As a result of this pivoting movement, the first pivot axis 44 is pivoted about the pivot bearing 24. The first pivot axis 44 is mechanically connected by the guide element 40 to the second pivot axis 45, which is fixed to the second fastening part 30. As a result, the distance between the first pivot axis 44 and the second pivot axis 45 is fixed. As a result of the pivoting movement of the actuating parts 20, 30 relative to each other, the first pivot axis 44 is also guided on a circular path around the second pivot axis 45. The simultaneous circular movement of the first pivot axis 44 around the pivot bearing 24 and the second pivot axis 45 requires that the distance between the pivot bearing 24 and the second pivot axis 45 changes, in this case reduced. The linear guide offers the degree of freedom required for this.By pivoting the fastening elements 11, 12 relative to each other, the linear guide is adjusted. Actuating the folding flap also pivots the pivot bearing 24 about the first pivot axis 44. At the same time, the pivot bearing 24 is guided along a linear path by the linear guide. The linear guide is adjusted depending on the pivot position of the two fastening parts 20, 30 relative to each other. When the furniture parts 11, 12 and thus the fastening parts 20, 30 are pivoted from their . Figure 3 shown position with furniture parts 11, 12 arranged in one plane into the position shown Figure 4In the pivot position shown, with furniture parts 11, 12 and thus fastening parts 20, 30 aligned at an angle to one another, the first linear guide element 23 is inserted into the second linear guide element 33. Actuation of the hinge 10 thus also causes the pivot bearing 24 to be displaced linearly. The linear displacement is achieved by aligning the linear guide parallel to the inner surface of the second furniture part 12, to which the second fastening part 30 is mounted.
[0045] The travel of the linear guide, depending on the pivoting movement of the fastening parts 20, 30 relative to each other, is determined by the distance between the pivot bearing 24 and the pivot axes 44, 45. Thus, a larger distance between the pivot bearing 24 and the first pivot axis 44 leads to a larger linear movement of the linear guide for a given pivoting movement of the fastening parts 20, 30.
[0046] The linear displacement of the pivot bearing 24 also linearly changes the position of the furniture parts 11, 12 connected to the fastening parts 20, 30 relative to one another. This changes the gap 13 formed between the furniture parts 11, 12. In known hinge designs with non-linearly adjustable pivot axes, the gap 13 increases when the hinge is opened, so that a user can reach through the gap 13 with their fingers. When such a hinge is closed, fingers can then become trapped, which, due to the large levers formed by the furniture parts 11, 12, can lead to severe crushing and thus injuries. The inventive linear adjustment of the pivot point of the hinge 10 keeps the gap 13 so small throughout the entire movement sequence when the hinge 10 is actuated that reaching through is not possible.Preferably, the gap 13 has a maximum width of 6 mm across the entire pivoting range of the hinge 10. This reliably prevents injury to a user.
[0047] It is conceivable, according to a variant of the invention (not shown), to form the gap 13, as it forms with furniture parts 11, 12 arranged in a plane, with a continuously changing gap width across its depth. For example, the gap 13 can be wedge-shaped. For this purpose, the mutually facing edges of the furniture parts 11, 12 can be designed accordingly, or suitably shaped strips and / or surfaces can be arranged on the edges. The inclination of the edges or strips is selected such that the opposite furniture part 11, 12 does not strike during the pivoting movement. By forming the gap 13 in this way, it is prevented that the gap 13, as in Figure 4As shown, when the furniture parts 11, 12 are positioned at an angle to each other, the hinge opens outward so far that a finger can partially insert it. This further reduces the risk of injury.
[0048] Figure 5 shows that in the Figures 3 and 4shown hinge 10 with the folding flap further opened. The furniture parts 11, 12 are aligned at an angle of 90° to one another in this case. The pivot bearing 24 is pulled close to the second fastening part 30 by the linear guide. As a result, the gap 13, which now forms between the edge of the second furniture part 12 and the inner surface of the first furniture part 11, remains so small that a finger or hand cannot reach through it. The first pivot axis 44 is pivoted about the pivot bearing 24. It is thus arranged in the gap 13. The guide element 40 has a curved shape. For this purpose, the mounting legs 42 and mounting tabs 43 are formed at an angle to one another on the base section 41. The second pivot axis 45 is arranged in an area of the bearing block 32 of the second fastening part 30 that is arranged as far as possible from the inner surface of the second furniture part 12.Furthermore, the second pivot axis 45 is provided in a region of the bearing block 32 facing the first fastening part 20. By positioning the second pivot axis 45 at a distance from the inner surface of the second furniture part 30 and as close as possible to the gap 13, as well as by the curved shape of the guide element 40, the mounting legs 42 penetrate into the gap 13 at an acute angle. This enables the desired narrow gap width of a maximum of 6 mm.
[0049] Figure 6 shows that in the Figures 3 , 4 and 5 shown hinge 10 with the folding flap fully opened. The first furniture part 11 is now, starting from the Figure 1shown planar alignment of the two furniture parts 11, 12, pivoted through an angle of more than 90° relative to the second furniture part 12. The inner surface of the first furniture part 11 rests against the stop surface 46 of the guide element 40. This defines a fixed end position of the pivoting movement of the hinge 10. The pivot bearing 24 is adjusted right up to the second fastening part 30. The first linear guide element 23 is displaced accordingly along the second linear guide element 33, which is designed as a through-bore, and protrudes from the rear thereof. Even in this end position of the hinge 10, the width of the tapered gap 13 is designed to be so small in some areas that reaching through with a finger or hand is reliably prevented.
[0050] In the exemplary embodiment shown, the linear adjustment of the linear guide is effected by the guide element 40 as a function of the pivoting position of the two furniture parts 11, 12 relative to one another. However, other arrangements which enable such linear adjustment as a function of the pivoting position are also conceivable, for example in the form of a gear or rack drive, an electric motor drive, or a cable pull, each of which acts on the linear guide. The exemplary embodiment shown further shows the application of the hinge 10 on a folding flap, in which the closed state is formed by two partial flaps (furniture parts 11, 12) arranged in one plane. However, the hinge 10 according to the invention can also be used on other pieces of furniture in which, for example, the closed state is achieved when the furniture parts 11, 12 are arranged at an angle to one another.Such a piece of furniture could be, for example, a chest with a hinged lid.
