Description

[0001] The invention relates to a method for producing a pneumatic vehicle tire. The invention also relates to a device for forming a rubber profile comprising two wing components and a deflection component, and to the use of the device.

[0002] In recent times, pneumatic vehicle tires with an ever-increasing proportion of silica in the tread compound have increasingly been manufactured and used in road traffic.

[0003] Such or similar pneumatic vehicle tires have the disadvantage that the tread compound is no longer electrically conductive enough, thus causing an electrostatic charge to build up between the vehicle and the road surface. Such an electrostatic charge can be very dangerous if there is no adequate conductive connection to ground or the road surface. This is especially true if such a connection is established by a person getting in or out of the vehicle, or by inserting a refueling hose for liquid or gaseous gasoline, such as LPG.

[0004] Various approaches to preventing the electrical charging of pneumatic tires are known in the prior art: JP 2004 255801 A discloses the extrusion of three different rubber compounds to produce a tire, with two wing components and a dissipation component being extruded from one rubber compound. The dissipation component extends from the tire's outer surface to another rubber compound of the rubber tread and does not penetrate it. The dissipation component has a specific electrical resistance of less than 10 10< ohms.

[0005] EP 2 763 844 B1 discloses a method for producing an antistatic vehicle tire and such a vehicle tire. The vehicle tire comprises a rubber compound with a low electrical resistance extending from the ground contact surface to the reinforcement pack.

[0006] DE 19625091 A1 discloses an aqueous "external release agent for pneumatic tires containing a fatty alcohol polyglycol ether and conductive carbon black" (see claim 1).

[0007] EP 0705722 A1 discloses a water-based rubber composition characterized in that it comprises a mixture of (A) at least one aqueous rubber latex selected from a styrene / butadiene copolymer rubber latex prepared by emulsion polymerization, a polybutadiene latex prepared by emulsion polymerization and a cis-1,4-polyisoprene latex of natural rubber and (B) an aqueous dispersion of electrically conductive carbon black, wherein the carbon black is present in an amount of 25 to 200 phr and wherein the rubber / carbon black composition, when dried and sulfur-cured, has a surface resistivity of less than about 10,000 ohms (cf. claim 1).

[0008] US4310427 A discloses a water-reducible belt ply lubricant composition consisting essentially of 3 to 12% of a zinc soap of a long-chain fatty acid, 3 to 12% of a long-chain fatty acid partial ester of sorbitan, wherein at least two of the hydroxyl groups are unesterified; 20 to 60% of a water-soluble polymeric lubricant, wherein the polymeric lubricant comprises the condensation product of alkylene glycols or alkylene oxides limited to alkylene groups having more than one and less than four carbon atoms in the alkylene chain and a molecular weight of more than 1,000; and 30 to 74% of finely divided mica (cf. claim 1).

[0009] US4857397 A discloses an uncured rubber tire having a coating composition on its outer surface comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of at least one rubber selected from polybutadiene rubber and styrene / butadiene copolymer rubber; (b) about 300 to about 1000 parts by weight of carbon black, characterized by a particle size in the range of about 50 to about 100 nanometers (cf. claim 1).

[0010] Such methods and devices are also known from DE 10 2011 111 463 A1, US 2004 / 185 132 A1 and DE 101 19 066 A1.

[0011] Another widely used approach to prevent electrostatic charging is to use a so-called BasePen in the center groove for grounding. This is described, for example, on the following website: https: / / www.meine-auto.info / auto-tipps / 78-reifen-tipps / 1236-reifen-lexikon.html.

[0012] Despite this advancement, it has recently become apparent that a large proportion of pneumatic vehicle tires, with an increasingly high silica content and such a base pen, still lead to electrical charging. This can have the negative consequences described above.

[0013] An object underlying the invention is to provide a manufacturing method which does not have the disadvantages known in the prior art.

[0014] This object is achieved according to the invention by a method for producing a pneumatic vehicle tire, comprising the following steps: A) extruding at least two rubber mixtures, wherein the at least two rubber mixtures comprise at least a first rubber mixture and a second rubber mixture, Forming the rubber mixtures extruded in step A), preferably by means of a device as described below or as described below as preferred, into a rubber profile comprising at least one cap component, two Wing components and at least one discharge component, wherein the rubber mixtures (2, 3) extruded in step A) are guided through a guide unit (8) of a device (7) for forming a pre-rubber profile comprising two wing components (5) and one discharge component (4), wherein the first rubber mixture (2) is guided through two flow channels (10) for wing components (5) and through at least one flow channel (11) for a discharge component (4), and forming the pre-rubber profile by means of a final forming unit (9) of a device (7) for forming a rubber profile (1) comprising two wing components (5) and one discharge component (4) to form a rubber profile (1) at least comprising a cap component (6), two wing components (5) and at least one discharge component (3), wherein the first rubber mixture is formed into the two wing components and the one dissipating component and has a specific electrical resistance of at most 10 12 Ohm·cm at 20 °C, wherein the second rubber mixture is formed into the cap component, B) Cutting the shaped rubber profile and placing the cut rubber profile with further tire components on a tire building drum, C) Further processing the placed rubber profile with the said further tire components on the tire building drum, so that a green tire with a tread with at least two wing components and a deflection component is created, D) Vulcanizing the green tire to form a pneumatic vehicle tire with a tread comprising at least two wing components and a deflection component, wherein the at least two wing components and the deflection component consist of the first rubber mixture.

[0015] It was a major achievement of the present invention to discover that electrostatic charging in modern tires can be reduced or minimized using a manufacturing process as described above. It is suspected that a large portion of electrostatic charging is caused by tire pressure that is too low. According to a study by the monitoring organization GTÜ, 25% of pneumatic tires in circulation have incorrect air pressure, often too low (see page 102 in the book "Das große Reifenbuch" by Klaus Peter Backfisch, Heel Verlag, 2006, ISBN-10: 3-89880-656-1).

[0016] It is assumed that excessively low tire pressure results in more pressure being exerted on the shoulders of the tread of a pneumatic vehicle tire, resulting in insufficient contact between a dissipative component located in the center of the tire to counteract the electrostatic charge. The above-described production of a pneumatic vehicle tire therefore reduces or prevents electrostatic charge. This also applies if the tread cap is not electrically conductive and the tire's internal pressure is too low. This greatly simplifies the use of pneumatic vehicle tires for an average driver without special tire knowledge, thus avoiding disadvantages known in the prior art, such as those described above. The present invention also makes it possible to reduce the number of extruders required to carry out an extrusion process. This not only permanently reduces manufacturing costs, but also achieves greater variability and rubber profile geometries of existing extruder systems, which often cannot be combined or expanded with other machines or machine parts due to their design.

[0017] Step C) of a process according to the invention is described in greater detail in particular in the published patent application DE 102006030026 A1, in particular in paragraphs

[0020] to

[0025] therein.

[0018] Step D) of a process according to the invention is described in greater detail in particular in the published patent application EP 2566686 A1, in particular in the paragraphs from line 21, page 6 to line 2, page 8, or EP 2756945 A1, in particular in the paragraphs

[0018] to

[0021] therein.

[0019] In the context of the present invention, the term "rubber profile" includes in particular an unvulcanized rubber mixture in the form of a continuous strip which is extruded and subsequently formed by a final forming unit, for example a final template of an extrusion unit.

[0020] As known in the art, the tread of a pneumatic vehicle tire or a rubber profile for producing a tread of a pneumatic vehicle tire can consist of one or more base, one or more cap, and at least two wing components. More recently, pneumatic vehicle tires, in particular, have been manufactured with a tread without a base component. For such vehicle tires, the inadequate basepen approach described above is not possible.

[0021] Within the scope of the present invention, the term "rubber component" encompasses any spatially separated component arranged in the tread of the pneumatic vehicle tire or in the molded rubber profile, such as a cap, wing, or base component. Therefore, within the scope of the present invention, a rubber component is either an unvulcanized rubber compound that, after mixing the rubber compound components of the rubber compound, has been molded into a defined geometric shape either by a final template or through a die, or a rubber compound vulcanized into a specific geometry in the final pneumatic vehicle tire.

[0022] Preference is given to a process according to the invention as described above or as described above as preferred, wherein in step B) none of the rubber mixtures is formed into a base component in the rubber profile, wherein preferably none of the rubber mixtures is formed into a base component with a specific electrical resistance of at most 10 12< Ohm·cm at 20 °C, particularly preferably of at most 10 10< Ohm·cm at 20 °C, very particularly preferably of at most 10 8< Ohm·cm at 20 °C. Effective dissipation of the electrostatic charge is particularly important, particularly for pneumatic vehicle tires without a base component and in particular without an electrically conductive base component.

[0023] A method according to the invention as described above or as described above as preferred is preferred, wherein the pneumatic vehicle tire resulting in step E) is a tire with a ratio of tire contact area to sidewall height of a sidewall in the range from 7:1 to 1:1.

[0024] Due to the higher load on the shoulders of the tread of a wide tire described above, sufficient dissipation of the electrostatic charge via a dissipation component in the tire center cannot be guaranteed. This is especially true if such tires have even a minimally lower tire pressure than specified. Therefore, the above-described aspect of the present invention is particularly advantageous here.

[0025] A process according to the invention as described above or as described above as preferred is preferred, wherein the first rubber mixture has a specific electrical resistance of at most 10 12< Ohm·cm at 20 °C, preferably at most 10 10< Ohm·cm at 20 °C, particularly preferably at most 10 8< Ohm·cm at 20 °C. Such rubber mixtures are known to the person skilled in the art and usually have a carbon black content of 10 phr or more.

[0026] An advantage of the above-described aspect of the present invention is that, in particular, rubber mixtures having the above-described specific electrical resistances prevent or reduce electrostatic charging even better.

[0027] A process according to the invention as described above or as described above as preferred is preferred, wherein the second rubber mixture has a specific electrical resistance of at least 10 12 ohm-cm at 20°C, preferably at most 10 14 ohm-cm at 20°C. Effective dissipation of electrostatic charge is particularly important, particularly for pneumatic vehicle tires without an electrically conductive cap component. Such cap components are known to those skilled in the art and usually have a silica content of 25 phr or more.

[0028] A process according to the invention is preferred as described above or as described above as preferred, wherein step B) of the process is as follows: Guiding the rubber mixtures extruded in step A) through a guide unit of a device as described below or as described below as being preferred, wherein preferably the second rubber mixture is guided through at least one flow channel for a cap component, wherein the two flow channels for wing components and the at least one flow channel for a discharge component are preferably arranged such that the first rubber mixture is pressed from a single extruder into these three flow channels, and shaping the pre-rubber profile by means of a final shaping unit of a device for shaping a rubber profile comprising two wing components and one discharge component, preferably by means of a final shaping unit of a device as described below or as described below as being preferred, to form a rubber profile at least comprising a cap component, two wing components and at least one discharge component., wherein the first rubber mixture is formed into the two wing components and the one dissipating component and has a specific electrical resistance of at most 10 12< Ohm·cm at 20 °C, wherein the second rubber mixture is formed into the cap component. .

[0029] An advantage of the above-described aspect of the present invention is that, by splitting the first rubber mixture into the three flow channels described above, the wing components can be extruded differently than the discharge component. This has the advantage that the usually very delicate wing components can be guided and formed with different extrusion parameters, such as the temperature or pressure in the respective flow channel, than the discharge component, thus resulting in fewer deviations from the predefined, delicate shape.

[0030] In the context of the present invention, the term "flow channels for wing components" or for other components of a tread refers to those flow channels through which rubber mixtures can be passed for the production of a wing component or for the production of other components of a tread.

[0031] A method according to the invention as described above or as described above as preferred is preferred, wherein the ratio of the throughput of the first rubber mixture through the two flow channels for wing components to the throughput of the first rubber mixture through the at least one flow channel for discharge components is in the range from 10:1 to 1:5, preferably in the range from 5:1 to 1:1, wherein the ratio of the throughput of the first rubber mixture through the two flow channels for wing components to the throughput of the third rubber mixture is in the range from 1:1 to 1:20, preferably in the range from 1:2 to 1:10. The third rubber mixture is preferably shaped as the base component in the resulting rubber profile, wherein the second and / or third rubber mixture has a specific electrical resistance of more than 10 14< Ohm cm at 20 °C.

[0032] An advantage of the above-described aspect of the present invention is that, due to the ratio of the throughput of the first rubber mixture to the throughput of the third rubber mixture, a rubber profile is formed in step B) in which the wing components comprise a substantial portion of the subsequent tire contact area of the resulting pneumatic vehicle tire at the recommended tire inflation pressure and, in particular, at a lower tire inflation pressure. A further advantage is that the usually very delicate wing components can be guided and formed with different extrusion parameters, such as the temperature or pressure in the respective flow channel, than the base component, and thus fewer deviations from the predefined delicate shape occur.

[0033] Particularly preferred is a method as described above comprising the following steps: A) Extruding at least two rubber mixtures, wherein the at least two rubber mixtures comprise at least a first rubber mixture and a second rubber mixture, B) Guiding the rubber mixtures extruded in step A) through a guide unit of a device as described below or as described below as preferred or as described below as particularly preferred, wherein the first rubber mixture is guided through two flow channels for wing components and through at least one flow channel for a discharge component and preferably the second rubber mixture is guided through at least one flow channel for a cap component, and shaping the pre-rubber profile by means of a final shaping unit of a device as described below or as described below as preferred or as described below as particularly preferred to form a rubber profile at least comprising a cap component, two wing components and at least one dissipating component, wherein the first rubber mixture is formed into the two wing components and the one dissipating component and has a specific electrical resistance of at most 10 8< Ohm·cm at 20 °C, wherein the second rubber mixture is formed into the cap component, C) cutting the formed rubber profile and placing the cut rubber profile with further tire components on a tire building drum, D) further processing the placed rubber profile with said further tire components on the tire building drum, so that a green tire with a tread with at least two wing components and one dissipating component is produced, E) vulcanizing the green tire to form a pneumatic vehicle tire with a tread comprising at least two wing components and one dissipating component, wherein the at least two wing components and the discharge component consist of the first rubber mixture, , where in step A) a third rubber mixture with a specific electrical resistance of at least 10 12< Ohm cm at 20 °C is extruded, wherein this third rubber mixture is shaped in step B) together with the first and second rubber mixtures to form a rubber profile, wherein the first rubber mixture is shaped to form the two wing components and the one discharge component and the second rubber mixture is shaped to form the cap component and the third rubber mixture is shaped to form the base component, the ratio of the throughput of the first rubber mixture through the two flow channels for wing components to the throughput of the third rubber mixture is in the range from 1:2 to 1:10, and the ratio of the throughput of the first rubber mixture through the two flow channels for wing components to the throughput of the first rubber mixture through the at least one flow channel for discharge components is in the range from 5:1 to 1:1.

[0034] The advantageous aspects of a method according to the invention for producing a pneumatic vehicle tire described above also apply to all aspects of a device described below, and the advantageous aspects of devices according to the invention discussed below apply accordingly to all aspects of a method according to the invention for producing a pneumatic vehicle tire.

[0036] In the context of the present invention, a device described above or described below as preferred is in particular a device for carrying out a method according to the invention described above or described above as preferred.

[0037] In the context of the present invention, the term "dissipative component of a tread" particularly encompasses a BasePen described above or a so-called CCB strip. In principle, however, any sufficiently electrically conductive rubber compounds capable of establishing electrical contact between the road surface and the vehicle are suitable for reducing electrostatic charge as described above.

[0038] In the context of the present invention, the term "molding unit" particularly encompasses a pre-form with extruder heads. In the production of rubber profiles, several extruders, each with an extruder barrel, are often connected to a single guide unit, as described above or below, in such a way that a rubber mixture with a specific rubber mixture composition is extruded through each extruder and thus through each extruder barrel. [0039] In the context of the present invention, an extruder barrel is, in particular, the cylinder of an extruder in which the extruder screw can extrude the rubber mixture. In the context of the present invention, the term "three interconnected flow channels" describes, in particular, a multi-part flow channel, which has an inlet opening of the flow channel on the extruder side, also called an inlet, and three outlet openings of the flow channel on the end-forming unit side, also called outlets.

[0040] Particularly preferred is a device according to the invention as described above or as described above as preferred, wherein a first and a second of the three outlets for wing rubber mixtures are arranged on the contact surface of the guide unit such that rubber mixtures flowing through these two outlets are formed in the final forming unit into two separate wing components within the resulting rubber profile.

[0041] A device according to the invention as described above is also particularly preferred, wherein one or the third of the three outlets is arranged on the contact surface of the guide unit such that rubber mixtures flowing through this one or third outlet are formed in the final forming unit into a discharge component of the resulting rubber profile, wherein the discharge component of the resulting rubber profile preferably extends between the wing components through the resulting rubber profile. The discharge component preferably extends along the shortest transverse extent of the rubber profile, wherein the main extent of the rubber profile is along the extrusion direction or conveying direction of the rubber profile in the form of an endless strip.

[0042] An advantage of the above-described aspect of the present invention is that it can be ensured in this way that an electrical contact between the ground contact surface of the arranged discharge component and the vehicle wheel and thus the entire vehicle can be ensured centrally in the tread.

[0043] A device according to the invention is preferred as described above or as described above as preferred, wherein the output for the discharge component is arranged spatially between the two outputs of the two wing components.

[0044] An advantage of the above-described aspect of the present invention is that the flow channel for the diverting component between the two flow channels of the two wing components thus enables better extrusion, in which the pressures of the rubber mixture in the flow channel for the diverting component are reduced by at least 20%.

[0045] A device according to the invention is preferred as described above or as described above as preferred, wherein the guide unit has exactly two flow channels for wing rubber mixtures and at least one flow channel for a discharge component, which flow into one inlet on the base surface of the guide unit, wherein the two flow channels for wing rubber mixtures lead into the two outlets for wing components and the third flow channel leads into an outlet for a discharge component. A device according to the invention is preferred as described above or as described above as preferred, wherein the ratio of the total outlet area of the outlets for wing components to the total outlet area of the outlets for discharge components is in the range from 15:1 to 1:5, preferably in the range from 10:1 to 1:1, particularly preferably in the range from 10:1 to 2:1.

[0046] An advantage of the above-described aspect of the present invention is that the wing component enables the tread to be installed on the tire building machine and the discharge components enable electrical discharge in the finished tire.

[0047] In the context of the present invention, the total exit area of the outlets for wing components of a device according to the invention comprises the entire area enclosed by the edges of the outlets of the various flow channels for wing components.

[0048] Particularly preferred is a device according to the invention as described above, comprising: a final forming unit for forming at least two rubber mixtures into a rubber profile and a guide unit as described above, comprising an extruder head and a pre-template for guiding at least two rubber mixtures from at least two extruder barrels to the final forming unit, wherein the guide unit is designed, in cooperation with the final forming unit, to produce a rubber profile from at least two rubber mixtures extruded in one extruder barrel each, the guide unit having at least three interconnected flow channels for guiding two wing components and one deflection component, as well as a base surface for connecting to the extruder barrels and a contact surface opposite the base surface for transferring rubber mixtures from the guide unit into the final forming unit, the base surface of the guide unit has a common inlet for the at least three flow channels for two wing components and one discharge component, and the contact surface of the guide unit has at least three outlets for said three flow channels for guiding two wing components and one discharge component, wherein the outlet for the discharge component is spatially arranged between the two outlets of the two wing components, a first and a second of the three outlets for wing rubber mixtures are arranged on the contact surface of the guide unit such that rubber mixtures flowing through these two outlets are formed in the final forming unit into wing components of the resulting rubber profile, one or the third of the three outlets for wing rubber mixtures is arranged on the contact surface of the guide unit such thatthat rubber mixtures flowing through this one or third outlet are formed in the final forming unit to form a discharge component of the resulting rubber profile, wherein the discharge component of the resulting rubber profile preferably extends between the wing components through the resulting rubber profile along the shortest transverse extent, the guide unit has exactly two flow channels for wing rubber mixtures and at least one flow channel for a discharge component, which open into the one inlet on the base surface of the guide unit, wherein the two flow channels for wing rubber mixtures lead into the two outlets for wing components and the third flow channel leads into an outlet for a discharge component, and the ratio of the total outlet area of the outlets for wing components to the total outlet area of the outlets for discharge components is in the range from 10:1 to 1:1.

[0049] The advantageous aspects of a device according to the invention and of a method according to the invention for producing a pneumatic vehicle tire described above also apply to all aspects of a pneumatic vehicle tire described below, and the advantageous aspects of pneumatic vehicle tires according to the invention discussed below apply accordingly to all aspects of a device according to the invention for forming a rubber profile comprising two wing components and a deflection component and of a method according to the invention for producing a pneumatic vehicle tire.
