Description

[0001] The invention relates to a retaining frame for a connector for receiving contact inserts. The invention further relates to a connector comprising a housing, a retaining frame arranged in the housing, and several contact inserts received in the retaining frame. The invention also relates to an electronic device. Such retaining frames serve for the modular use of contact inserts, for example, on connectors. One or more contact inserts can be arranged on such a retaining frame in order to be inserted, together with the retaining frame, into the housing of a connector part or a connector and connected to the housing. In this way, contact inserts can be combined with one another in a modular manner and arranged in or on a connector part via the retaining frame.

[0002] Such contact inserts can, for example, have one or more electrical contacts. In this case, the contact inserts are connected on the one hand to electrical conductors that are fed into a connector and on the other hand form plug contacts via which the connector can be inserted to engage with a mating connector part for electrical contact.

[0003] Such modular contact inserts offer the advantage of flexible combinationability and thus variable usability of connectors.

[0004] If contact inserts are attached to a retaining frame, it is necessary that the contact inserts are held in place by the retaining frame to allow the retaining frame, for example, to be attached to a connector together with the contact inserts. In a retaining frame known from DE 10 2012 110 907 A1, it is provided that a second retaining frame part can be attached to a first retaining frame part, which has recesses for receiving retaining lugs of contact inserts, in order to lock the retaining lugs located in the recesses and thus secure them to the retaining frame.

[0005] In a mounting frame known from DE 10 2017 108 432 A1, fastening means with bracket elements are provided.

[0006] In a retaining frame known from DE 20 2012 103 360 U1, two types of recesses are provided on the frame walls. Retaining lugs of contact inserts can be inserted into the first recesses at an upper edge of the frame walls, while the second recesses, in the form of openings, allow pin-like projections of the contact inserts to be engaged in a snap-fit manner.

[0007] The object of the present invention is to provide a holding frame that enables easy attachment of contact inserts to the holding frame and reliable locking of the contact inserts to the holding frame while simultaneously allowing easy removal of the contact inserts from the holding frame.

[0008] The problem is solved according to the invention by the features of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

[0009] The retaining frame according to the invention has a base frame which has two opposing side walls and two opposing end walls, wherein the two side walls and the two end walls enclose an interior space of the base frame into which the contact inserts can be inserted along an insertion direction, wherein the side walls each have an inner surface pointing towards the interior space and each have an outer surface pointing away from the interior space. The retaining frame further comprises fastening means which, in a fastened state, hold the contact inserts inserted into the interior of the base frame to the base frame, wherein the fastening means each have a bracket element and an actuating lever, wherein the bracket element can be moved into a closed position in which the bracket element is engaged with a retaining lug of an inserted contact insert, and into an open position in which the bracket element is disengaged from the retaining lug of the inserted contact insert, wherein in the closed position the bracket element can be clamped to the retaining lug by means of the actuating lever.

[0010] According to the invention, it is now provided that the contact inserts placed in a holding frame are secured to the holding frame by means of fastening elements, each consisting of a bracket element and an actuating lever. The fastening elements are thus designed with at least two parts. Each inserted contact insert can be held to the holding frame by two such fastening elements, whereby the two fastening elements interact with the two retaining lugs arranged on a contact insert. The bracket element serves to interact directly with the contact insert by engaging with one of the retaining lugs of a contact insert in the closed position. The actuating lever serves to clamp the bracket element in this closed position or to clamp it against the retaining lug associated with it.The actuating lever allows the clamping element to be tensioned, thus securing a retaining lug of a contact insert to the mounting frame or the base frame of the mounting frame. This ensures particularly secure positioning of the contact inserts on the mounting frame. The clamping element and the actuating lever are preferably in direct operative connection with each other. The fastening means are preferably arranged on the side walls of the base frame, allowing the contact inserts to be attached to these walls. Each contact insert inserted into the mounting frame can be individually secured to the mounting frame by means of the clamping means, which are formed by the clamping element and the actuating lever. These clamping means preferably allow for a virtually play-free attachment of the contact inserts to the base frame.Viewed in the insertion direction, the actuating lever is preferably arranged below the bracket element. The fastening means are preferably arranged on the outer surface of the side walls of the base frame. The fastening means preferably do not extend along the inner surface of the side walls of the base frame.

[0011] The bracket element is preferably made of a bent wire. The bracket element is preferably bent in such a way that, in the closed position, it can at least partially engage the respective retaining lug. The bracket element, formed in the form of a bent wire, can, for example, have a U-shape.

[0012] Preferably, the clamping element is designed such that, in the closed position, it rests on the upper surface of the retaining lug of its associated contact insert, facing away from the insertion direction. By resting on the upper surface of the retaining lug, the clamping element can exert a force in the insertion direction on the retaining lug and thus on the contact insert, thereby fixing the contact insert to the base frame. This allows for a virtually play-free fixation of the contact insert to the base frame. The clamping element preferably rests flat on the upper surface of the retaining lug. The clamping element preferably has an elongated actuating section that rests flat on the upper surface of the retaining lug.

[0013] The bracket element can be pivotally mounted on the operating lever. This allows the bracket element to pivot relative to the operating lever, moving from the closed to the open position and vice versa. For example, the operating lever can have two bores, each of which can accommodate a free end of the bracket element. These bores can thus form a pivot axis for the bracket element. Due to the pivotal mounting of the bracket element on the operating lever, the bracket element is preferably also pivotally positioned relative to the base frame or the side wall of the base frame on which the bracket element is mounted.

[0014] The fasteners are preferably attached to the base frame via their actuating levers. Preferably, only the actuating lever is directly connected to the base frame, whereas the bracket element is attached to the base frame via the actuating lever, so that the bracket element is only indirectly attached to the base frame. The actuating lever of each fastener can be pivotably mounted on the base frame, in particular on one of the two side walls of the base frame. When the bracket element is moved into the closed or clamped position and into the open position, the actuating lever can also be pivoted relative to the base frame. Thus, both the bracket element and the actuating lever can be pivoted when moving into the closed or clamped position and into the open position.

[0015] To form the pivotable bearing, the actuating lever can be connected to an axle body, which can be mounted in a recess formed in one of the side walls of the base frame. The axle body can be rotatably mounted in the recess. However, it is also possible for the axle body to be fixed in the recess and the actuating lever to be rotatably mounted on the axle body.

[0016] To achieve particularly secure attachment of the contact inserts to the base frame using the fasteners, the pivot axis of the bracket element can be offset from the pivot axis of the actuating lever, at least in the clamped state, towards the inner surface of the respective side wall. The pivot axis of the bracket element is the axis about which the bracket element can pivot. The pivot axis of the bracket element can be defined by the bores in the actuating lever in which the bracket element can be mounted. The pivot axis of the actuating lever is preferably defined by the axle body that is connected to the actuating lever and by means of which the actuating lever can be mounted to the base frame.By offsetting the pivot axis of the yoke element inwards relative to the pivot axis of the actuating lever, at least when the yoke element is clamped by the actuating lever, a dead center is reached when closing the fastener or transitioning it into the fastened position. This ensures a defined end position of the fastener and prevents the yoke closure formed by the fastener from opening unintentionally or automatically. The pivot axis of the yoke element is preferably located below the pivot axis of the actuating lever when viewed in the insertion direction.By pivoting the actuating lever to clamp the bracket element, the pivot axis of the bracket element, located in the area of the actuating lever, particularly in the area of the actuating lever's bores, moves and thus changes its position, whereas the pivot axis of the actuating lever remains in a constant position. Therefore, the position of the pivot axis of the bracket element relative to the pivot axis of the actuating lever can change both when clamping the bracket element and when releasing the clamping mechanism, thus relieving the clamping force and moving it into the open position.

[0017] In the open position, preferably both the bracket element and the actuating lever are pivoted away from the base frame or the respective side wall of the base frame, such that in the open position, both the actuating lever and the bracket element extend at an angle to the plane defined by the respective side wall of the base frame. Preferably, in the open position, the bracket element extends to the actuating lever at an angle α < 180°, more preferably at an angle between 110° ≤ α ≤ 170°. This positioning of both the bracket element and the actuating lever allows a user to immediately recognize the state of the fastening device visually. The pivoting movement of the bracket element preferably occurs in opposite directions when transitioning to the closed or clamped position and when transitioning to the open position. When transitioning from the open position to the closed or locked position, the bracket element and the operating lever are preferably pivoted away from each other. When transitioning from the closed or locked position to the open position, the bracket element and the operating lever are preferably pivoted towards each other.

[0018] To achieve a defined and correct positioning of the actuating lever, particularly in the clamped state, several recesses can be formed on the outer surface of the side walls. In the clamped state, each recess can accommodate an actuating lever of one of the fastening elements. The contour of the recesses can be adapted to the outer contour of the actuating levers. By accommodating the actuating levers in individual recesses, protrusion of the actuating lever from the outer surface of the side wall is prevented in the closed position. In particular, a flush or at least nearly flush arrangement of the actuating lever with the outer surface of the respective side wall can be achieved.

[0019] To achieve a defined and correct positioning of the bracket element, particularly in the closed or tensioned position, several groove-shaped recesses can be formed on the outer surface of the side walls. In the closed or tensioned position, one of the bracket elements of one of the fasteners can be inserted into each of these recesses. This prevents the bracket element from protruding from the outer surface of the side wall in its closed or tensioned position, thus also preventing the fastener from unintentionally opening directly above the bracket element. The shape of the groove-shaped recesses is preferably adapted to the shape of the bracket element. These groove-shaped recesses allow for a flush or at least nearly flush arrangement of the bracket element with the outer surface of the respective side wall.

[0020] The base frame can have bearing surfaces for the retaining lugs, which are formed on an upper edge of the base frame pointing away from the insertion direction. This allows the retaining lugs to rest directly on the base frame when attached. The retaining lugs can be pressed against the bearing surface by means of the fasteners, in particular by means of the clamping element of the fasteners, to ensure secure and play-free attachment of the contact inserts to the base frame. The bearing surfaces can be formed in openings in the side walls of the base frame. Each bearing surface can form a bottom wall of the openings. The upper edge formed around the base frame can run at different levels through these openings.

[0021] The problem according to the invention is further solved by means of a method for mounting at least one contact insert on a holding frame as described above, in which the at least one contact insert is inserted along the insertion direction into the interior of the base frame of the holding frame and then the bracket element of the fastening means of the holding frame is manually moved from the open position to the closed position in order to bring the bracket element into engagement with the retaining lug of the inserted contact insert, and in the closed position the bracket element is then moved by means of the actuating lever into a state clamped with the retaining lug of the inserted contact insert.

[0022] By manually actuating the fastener's locking mechanism—that is, by a user's hand—the contact inserts can be attached or locked to the mounting frame independently of their insertion movement. This means that in a first step, the contact insert is inserted into the mounting frame, and in a second step, it is locked to the mounting frame. The insertion and locking processes can occur with a time offset. For example, all contact inserts can first be inserted into the mounting frame, and only after all inserts are in place can they be locked to the mounting frame by manually actuating the locking mechanisms of each fastener. This means that the contact inserts do not automatically lock into place at the end of the insertion process into the holding frame.

[0023] The problem according to the invention is further solved by means of a connector which has a housing, a retaining frame arranged in the housing and several contact inserts received in the retaining frame, wherein the retaining frame is designed and further developed as described above.

[0024] Furthermore, the problem according to the invention is solved by means of an electronic device which has at least one mounting frame designed and further developed as described above and several contact inserts received in the mounting frame and / or at least one connector designed and further developed as described above.

[0025] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and a preferred embodiment.

[0026] They show: Figs. 1 to 4 show a schematic representation of a holding frame according to the invention during the insertion and fastening of a contact insert in the holding frame; Fig. 5 shows a schematic representation of a holding frame as shown in the figures. Figs. 1 to 4 shown fastening means, Fig. 6 a schematic sectional view of the in Fig. 1 position shown, Fig. 7 another schematic sectional view of the in Fig. 1 position shown, and Fig. 8 a schematic sectional view of the in Fig. 4 position shown.

[0027] Figs. 1 to 4 show a retaining frame 100 when inserting a contact insert 200 into the retaining frame 100.

[0028] The mounting frame 100 has a base frame 110, which has two opposing side walls 111, 112 and two opposing end walls 113, 114. The side walls 111, 112 are arranged at right angles to the end walls 113, 114. The base frame 110 has an interior space 115, which is bounded or enclosed by the two side walls 111, 112 and the two end walls 113, 114. The contact inserts 200 are inserted into this interior space 115 by inserting them into the base frame 110 and thus into the interior space 115 of the base frame 110 in the insertion direction R.

[0029] To fasten the contact inserts 200, which are inserted into the base frame 110, to the base frame 110, the retaining frame 100 has several fastening means 116, which are arranged on the base frame 110, in particular on the side walls 111, 112 of the base frame 110. Two fastening means 116 are provided for each contact insert 200, wherein retaining lugs 210 formed on the contact inserts 200 can be clamped to the base frame 110, in particular on the side walls 111, 112 of the base frame 110, by means of the fastening means 116 in order to fix the contact inserts 200 to the base frame 110.

[0030] In Fig. 5 One such fastening device 116 is shown alone. The fastening device 116 has a bracket element 117 and an actuating lever 118. The bracket element 117 and the actuating lever 118 are directly connected to each other. The bracket element 117 can be moved into an open position, as is the case in particular in Fig. 1is shown, and into a closed position, as is particularly evident in Figs. 3 and 4 As shown, the bracket element 117 can be transferred. In the closed position, the bracket element 117 can be clamped by means of the actuating lever 118 and, in particular, clamped against the retaining lug 210 of the inserted contact insert 200.

[0031] The actuating lever 118 is arranged below the bracket element 117 when viewed in the insertion direction R. In the embodiment shown here, the actuating lever 118 and the bracket element 117 have approximately the same width.

[0032] The ironing element 117 is formed from a bent wire. The ironing element 117 is essentially U-shaped. The ironing element 117 has two free ends 119, 120, by means of which the ironing element 117 is attached to the actuating lever 118, in particular rotatably or pivotably. Two bores 121, 122 are formed in the actuating lever 118, into which the free ends 119, 120 of the ironing element 117 engage. The two free ends 119, 120 are bent such that they point towards each other.

[0033] The bracket element 117 has an actuating section 123, which can interact directly with one of the retaining lugs 210 of a contact insert 200. In the closed position of the bracket element 117, the bracket element 117 with the actuating section 123 can rest on the retaining lug 210 of the contact insert 200, and in the clamped state, the actuating section 123 is clamped against the retaining lug 210. The actuating section 123 is spaced apart from the actuating lever 118. A clearance 124 is formed between the actuating section 123 and the actuating lever 118, through which the retaining lug 210 to be clamped can pass.

[0034] The bracket element 117 is pivotally mounted on the actuating lever 118. The axis of rotation D BE of the bracket element 117 runs through the free ends 119, 120 and through the bores 121, 122. The actuating section 123 extends parallel to the axis of rotation D BE of the bracket element 117.

[0035] The actuating lever 118 is pivotably mounted on the base frame 110 via an axle body 125. The axle body 125 is mounted in a recess 126 formed in one of the side walls 111, 112 of the base frame 110, as shown in particular in the sectional view in Fig. 6 can be seen.

[0036] The actuating lever 118 has a substantially rectangular base body 127. Two mounting pins 128, 129 are integrally formed on this base body 127. The axle body 125 is mounted on these two mounting pins 128, 129. The mounting pins 128, 129 extend from the base body 127 towards the bracket element 117, in particular towards the actuating section 123 of the bracket element 117. The two mounting pins 128, 129 run parallel to each other. Each of the two mounting pins 128, 129 has a bore through which the axle body 125 passes. The bores of the mounting pins 128, 129 are aligned with each other.

[0037] The axis of rotation D BH of the actuating lever 118 extends along the longitudinal axis of the axle body 125. The axis of rotation D BH of the actuating lever 118 runs parallel to the axis of rotation D BE of the bracket element 117. The axis of rotation D BH of the actuating lever 118 is located above the axis of rotation D BE of the bracket element 117 when viewed in the insertion direction R.

[0038] The side walls 111, 112 of the base frame 110 have an inner surface 130 facing towards the interior 115 and an outer surface 131 facing away from the interior 115. The fastening means 116 are arranged exclusively on the outer surface 131 of the side walls 111, 112.

[0039] When a contact insert 200 is inserted into the retaining frame 100, the ironing element 117 is initially in an open position, as shown in Fig. 1The bracket element 117 is pivoted away from the outer surface 131. The actuating lever 118 is also pivoted away from the outer surface 131. The bracket element 117 and the actuating lever 118 extend at an angle α of approximately 160° to each other, as shown in Fig. 6 As shown. Both the ironing element 117 and the actuating lever 118 are pivoted out of the plane of the respective side wall 111, 112.

[0040] Because the ironing element 117 is pivoted away from the outer surface 131, the contact insert 200, with its retaining lug 210, can be inserted into an opening 132 formed in the base frame 110, in particular on the side wall 111, 112 of the base frame 110. The opening 132 is U-shaped. A bottom wall of the opening 132 forms a bearing surface 133 for the inserted retaining lug 210. The contact insert 200 is inserted into the interior 115 of the base frame 110 until the retaining lug 210 of the contact insert 200 comes to rest on the bearing surface 133, as shown in Fig. 2 can be seen.

[0041] The width of the opening 132 corresponds essentially to the width of the retaining lug 210. The bearing surface 133 is formed on an upper edge 134 of the base frame 110 that points opposite the insertion direction R. In the area of the openings 132, the upper edge 134 is offset downwards in the insertion direction R.

[0042] When the retaining lug 210 rests on the support surface 133, the bracket element 117 is first pivoted towards the outer surface 131, thereby pivoting the bracket element 117 over the retaining lug 210 of the contact insert 200, which is arranged in the opening 132. The bracket element 117 engages with the retaining lug 210 with its actuating section 123, as the actuating section 123 comes to rest on a top surface 211 of the retaining lug 210 that points opposite to the insertion direction R, as shown in Fig. 3The bracket element 117 can thus press the retaining lug 210 against the base frame 110, in particular against the bearing surface 133 of the side wall 111, 112 of the base frame 110. Via the actuating section 123, the bracket element 117 can apply a compressive force acting in the insertion direction E to the retaining lug 210. In this position, the bracket element 117 is arranged in a plane with the side wall 111, 112 of the base frame 110. The retaining lug 210 is located here in the clearance 124 between the actuating section 123 and the actuating lever 118.

[0043] On the outer surface 131 of the side walls 111, 112, a groove-shaped recess 135 is formed for each ironing element 117, in which the ironing element 117 is held in the closed position, as it is, for example, in Figs. 3 and 4 shown, can be immersed so that the ironing element 117 does not protrude from the outer surface 131 in the closed position.

[0044] The ironing element 117 is then clamped against the retaining lug 210 of the contact insert 200 in order to achieve a fixation of the contact insert 200 on the retaining frame 100 with as little play as possible.

[0045] For this purpose, the operating lever 118 is used, as in Fig. 4 As shown, the actuating lever 118 pivots towards the outer surface 131 of the side wall 111, 112 until it also extends in the plane of the side wall 111, 112. This pivoting movement of the actuating lever 118 draws the actuating section 123 even closer to the upper surface 211 of the retaining lug 210 in the insertion direction R. In this fixed and clamped state, as shown in Fig. 4 As shown, the actuating lever 118 and the bracket element 117 extend at an angle α of 180° to each other, so that the actuating lever 118 and the bracket element 117 extend in one plane.

[0046] On the outer surface 131 of the side wall 111, 112, a recess 136 is formed for each actuating lever 118, into which the actuating lever 118 is received in this clamped state, so that the actuating lever 118 does not protrude from the outer surface 131.

[0047] As shown in the sectional view of Fig. 8 It can be seen in its fixed state, as it also appears in Fig. 4 As shown, the axis of rotation D BE of the ironing element 117 is offset relative to the axis of rotation D BH of the actuating lever 118 in the direction of the interior 115 or in the direction of the inner surface 130 of the side wall 111, 112. When the actuating lever 118 is closed, the pivoting movement of the actuating lever 118 causes the axis of rotation D BE of the ironing element 117 to move in the direction of the inner surface 130, thereby changing the position of the axis of rotation D BE of the ironing element 117 relative to the position of the axis of rotation D BH of the actuating lever 118, as can be seen in particular when comparing the Fig. 6 with the Fig. 8 This can be recognized. This ensures that when closing the fastening device 116, a dead point is passed, which prevents the shackle closure formed by the fastening device 116 from opening unintentionally.

[0048] To open the fastener 116, the actuating lever 118 is first pivoted away from the outer surface 131. This pivoting movement also causes the bracket element 117 to pivot away from the outer surface 131, so that the bracket element 117 follows the pivoting movement of the actuating lever 118. This releases the retaining lug 210, allowing the contact insert 200 to be pulled out of the interior 115 of the base frame 110 in the opposite direction to the insertion direction R.
