Description

[0001] The invention relates to insert pieces for insertion into a channel section of an angled piece.

[0002] In vehicles, fluids such as oil, fuel, or coolant are supplied to various locations via fluid lines. These lines run in different directions and through varying installation spaces, necessitating elbow fittings at certain points to route the fluid lines around corners. These elbow fittings act as quick connectors for joining fluid lines, connecting two lines at a specific angle, such as 90°. They can be manufactured using injection molding processes, where cores form the interior of the elbow fitting. After the injection-molded material has cured, the cores are withdrawn from the elbow fitting. Separate cores are used for each leg of the elbow fitting, resulting in a sharp edge between the legs.If a curve were formed instead of an edge, this would create an undercut for the mold cores, which could damage the angled fitting when the cores are extracted. During operation, when a fluid flows over this sharp edge, the sudden change in direction creates turbulence, resulting in a significant pressure drop. This pressure drop affects the entire fluid system of the vehicle in which the angled fitting is installed.

[0003] To reduce this pressure drop, it is known from DE 10 2019 103 210 A1 to arrange at least one guide element for changing the flow direction in the region of the edge of the elbow fitting. The guide element directs the fluid flowing from one leg over the edge through the elbow fitting into the other leg. This results in less turbulence, thus reducing the pressure drop.

[0004] US 4,019,537 A further describes, for example, an arrangement for mounting a cascade of guide vanes or other objects extending over a conduit, wherein the conduit contains two longitudinal partitions or plates separated by a small gap. The object is formed from two parts, each of which is attached at one end to a wall of the conduit and at the other end to the longitudinal plate nearest to that attachment point.

[0005] The object of the invention is to provide a further improved insert that can be easily inserted into a channel section of an angled piece.

[0006] The main features of the invention are specified in claim 1. Embodiments are the subject of claims 2 to 9.

[0007] In an insert for insertion into a channel section of an elbow fitting for fluid-communicating connection of fluid lines, wherein the insert has a holder for attachment to the channel section and at least one component, wherein the holder has an opening and the at least one component is arranged in the opening, and wherein the component extends between a first section of the holder and a second section of the holder and is attached to the holder, wherein the holder has a recess between the first section and the second section, and wherein the component is designed as a guide element that changes the flow direction of at least a part of a fluid flowing through the channel section at least partially by an angle of change, it is provided according to the invention that the guide element has at least a partially curved surface for changing the flow direction.the curved surface extends at least partially around the recess.

[0008] The invention provides an insert that has a holder with a recess. The at least one component is arranged in an opening in the holder between the first and second sections of the holder. The at least one component is attached to the first and second sections. This attachment can be direct or indirect. When the insert is arranged in a channel section of an elbow fitting, a fluid can flow through the opening from one leg of the elbow fitting to the other. The channel section can be configured to change the flow direction of a fluid by an angle of change.

[0009] The holder can be held in the elbow fitting, for example, by a positive locking mechanism such as a tongue-and-groove connection, a snap-fit connection, or a friction-fit connection. The holder extends along the end face of the channel section. The recess in the holder eliminates a section of the holder that would otherwise be located between the guide element and the wall of the channel section. The recess thus enlarges the opening in which the guide element is located at this position. This reduces the flow cross-section of the fluid between the holder and the at least one component. Preferably, the recess is located on the inner edge of the elbow fitting when the insert is located within the elbow fitting. The invention thus provides a further improved insert that results in a further reduced pressure drop.

[0010] According to the invention, the component is designed as a guide element that changes the flow direction of at least a portion of a fluid flowing through the channel section by at least a certain angle. The channel section can be configured to change the flow direction of a fluid by this angle. The at least one guide element extends between the first section of the holder and the second section of the holder and is arranged in an opening of the holder. In this way, at least a portion of the fluid flowing through the opening is redirected or guided by the guide element from one leg to the other. This reduces the occurrence of turbulence and thus minimizes pressure loss.

[0011] According to the invention, the at least one guide element has at least a partially curved surface for changing the flow direction, wherein the curved surface extends at least partially around the recess.

[0012] The fluid flowing through the channel section of the elbow fitting can thus be redirected by means of the curved surface. The guide element can be designed as a curved guide vane. One leg of the guide vane is preferably oriented against the incoming flow direction of the fluid. The other leg of the guide vane is preferably oriented in the outgoing flow direction of the fluid desired after passing through the channel section. The recess maximizes the flow cross-section of the fluid at the curved surface.

[0013] It is conceivable that the bracket could, for example, be C-shaped.

[0014] The bracket can then be aligned with the opening of the C-shape towards the edge of the elbow fitting. The opening of the C-shape corresponds to the recess of the bracket. The remaining part of the bracket can be positioned between an end face of a fluid line to be connected to the elbow fitting and a receptacle on the duct section.

[0015] The insert can, for example, have at least one spring element that can absorb deformations or displacements so that these are not transferred to the at least one component, which is designed in particular as a guide element.

[0016] The spring element compensates for deformations that occur when inserting the insert into the angled piece, particularly with respect to the at least one guide element. The angled piece can, for example, have a groove on the channel section to receive the holder. The holder can then be pushed through one leg of the angled piece until it reaches the groove. The holder can then engage in the groove. As it moves towards the groove, the holder is compressed by the inner walls of the leg, with the at least one spring element absorbing the compression and shielding it from the at least one guide element. This prevents damage to the at least one component or the guide element from forces acting on the holder.

[0017] Furthermore, the at least one spring element can extend in a circumferential direction around the opening, for example at least partially along the bracket.

[0018] The at least one spring element can be provided, for example, by creating or supplying a slot extending axially through the holder relative to the opening. Furthermore, the slot can extend circumferentially around the opening along a portion of the holder. The portion of the holder located radially outside the opening with respect to the slot can then act as the spring element. In this way, a type of leaf spring can be provided on the holder.

[0019] According to another example, the at least one spring element can connect the at least one guide element to the first section and / or the second section.

[0020] The at least one spring element can act as a bearing for the at least one guide element. The at least one guide element is thus resiliently mounted with respect to the bracket. Deformation of the bracket can be reduced by the resilient mounting of the at least one guide element.

[0021] Furthermore, the at least one spring element can, for example, be designed as an elastic lever that extends between the at least one guide element and the first section and / or second section.

[0022] An elastic lever can mount at least one guide element particularly effectively and elastically at a distance from the bracket.

[0023] In another example, the at least one guide element can have a support element, wherein the at least one guide element is connected to the at least one spring element via the support element.

[0024] This allows the at least one spring element to provide a resilient mounting for the at least one guide element on the bracket via the support element. If several guide elements are connected to the support element, this effectively creates a resilient mounting for all guide elements connected to the support element.

[0025] Furthermore, the at least one spring element can, for example, be designed as a press ring section that is arranged radially outside the holder relative to the opening.

[0026] The bracket can, for example, have a multitude of press-ring sections. These press-ring sections allow forces acting radially towards the opening to be absorbed by the at least one spring element before a force is transmitted to the bracket and thus to the at least one guide element.

[0027] The invention further relates to an angled piece for fluid-communicating connection of fluid lines, wherein the angled piece has a channel section for changing the flow direction of a fluid flowing through the angled piece by an angle of change and an insert according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the insert is arranged in the channel section.

[0028] The advantages, effects, and further developments of the contra-angle handpiece result from the advantages, effects, and further developments of the insert described above. Therefore, reference is made to the preceding description in this regard.

[0029] Further features, details and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the wording of the claims and from the following description of exemplary embodiments with reference to the drawings. The drawings show: Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of an insert according to the prior art, as described, for example, in WO 2020 / 161190 A1; Fig. 2 is a schematic representation of an insert inserted into an angle piece according to the prior art, as described, for example, in WO 2020 / 161190 A1; Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of an insert; Fig. 4 is a schematic representation of an insert inserted into an angle piece; Fig. 5 is a schematic representation of an insert with a spring element; Fig. 6a-c is a schematic representation of an insert with a spring element in further embodiments; and Fig. 7 is a schematic representation of an insert in a further embodiment.

[0030] In Figure 1First, an insert 100 according to the prior art is described. The insert 100 has an annular holder 112 with an opening 122. Three guide elements 114, 116, 118 are arranged in the region of the opening 122 such that a fluid flowing through the opening 122 impinges on the components designed as guide elements 114, 116, 118. The guide elements 114, 116, 118 are connected to each other by a support element 120. The support element 120 rests on the annular holder 112.

[0031] According to Figure 2The insert 100 is shown in a prior art design within an angled fitting 50 with a first leg 56 and a second leg 58. The insert 100 is arranged in a channel section 52 within the angled fitting 50, in which the flow direction of a fluid flowing through the angled fitting 50 is changed by an angle of change. The angled fitting 50 has a receptacle 60 in which a first part of the annular holder 112 is arranged. A second part of the annular holder 112 is arranged between the guide element 114 and the edge 62 of the channel section 52. The flow cross-section between the second part and the guide element 114 is smaller than the flow cross-section between the guide elements 114, 116, and 118. Furthermore, the edge 62 narrows the section 52.

[0032] Figure 3Figure 1 shows an insert 10 according to the invention. The insert 10 has a holder 12, the guide elements 14, 16, 18 of which are fastened between a first section 30 of the holder 12 and a second section 32 of the holder 12.

[0033] The bracket 12 has a recess 22 between the first section 30 and the second section 32. The bracket 12 is C-shaped.

[0034] The guide element 14 further comprises a curved surface 24. The curved surface 24 is concave and is aligned with the recess 22.

[0035] The further guide elements 16, 18 are connected to the guide element 14 via a support element 20. The support element 20 stabilizes the guide elements 14, 16, 18.

[0036] In addition, the further guide elements 16, 18 can be directly connected to the holder 12 via retaining elements 26.

[0037] In Figure 4The insert piece 10 is in the angle piece 50 according to Figure 2 arranged. Furthermore, part of the holder 12 is arranged between the end face of the end piece 54 of the fluid line and the receptacle 60. The recess 22 is located at the edge 62. In comparison to Figure 2 It is evident that at the position of the recess 22 in Figure 4 A larger flow cross-section for the fluid is available between the guide element 14 and the edge 62.

[0038] Therefore, no enlarged recess is required at edge 62 to accommodate a section of the bracket 12. Consequently, the dimensions of the angle piece 50, i.e., its length and height, do not need to be increased to provide a sufficient flow cross-section for the fluid between edge 62 and the guide element 14.

[0039] The part of the bracket 12 that is located in the receptacle 60 can be flush with the inner wall of the channel section 52 and an inner wall of the end piece 54. This reduces or completely eliminates turbulence at the receptacle 60.

[0040] The external dimensions of angle fittings with an insert can be identical to those of standard angle fittings without an insert. This allows for easy replacement in existing configurations.

[0041] According to the Figures 5 to 6 Further embodiments of the insert 10 are shown. In each of these embodiments, the insert 10 has at least one spring element 28.

[0042] In the embodiment according to Figure 5The at least one spring element 28 is arranged radially from the opening 34 on the outside of the holder 12. The at least one spring element 28 extends circumferentially around the opening 34. In this example, a slot 36 is arranged between the at least one spring element 28 and the holder 12, extending circumferentially. The spring element 28 from this example can be manufactured by creating the slot 36 from the same material as the holder 12 and can be integral with the holder 12.

[0043] In this example, the spring element 28 acts like a leaf spring when forces oriented radially towards the opening 34 act on the bracket 12 from the outside. The slot 36 can be reduced in size by these forces without causing significant deformation of the bracket 12.

[0044] In particular, this prevents deformation and resulting damage to the guide elements 14, 16, 18.

[0045] In this embodiment according to Figure 5 The bracket 12 with the spring elements 28 can also be understood as a slotted press ring section.

[0046] In the embodiment according to Figures 6a and 6b The at least one spring element 28 is arranged between the at least one guide element 14, 16, 18. The at least one spring element 28 can be designed as a lever that connects the support element 20 to the bracket 12.

[0047] In the illustrated embodiment, two spring elements 28 are shown, wherein one of the spring elements 28 connects the support element 20 to the first section 30 and the other spring element 28 connects the support element 20 to the second section 32.

[0048] The guide elements 14, 16, 18 are not directly connected to the bracket 12. In this embodiment, the guide elements 14, 16, 18 are attached to the bracket 12 via the support element 20 and the spring elements 28. The guide elements 14, 16, 18 are resiliently attached to the bracket 12 by means of the spring elements 28, which are designed as levers.

[0049] In Figure 6c Figure 1 shows a further embodiment of the insert 10, in which the spring elements 28, designed as levers, are directly attached to the guide element 14. The guide element 14 is thus connected to the first section 30 and the second section 32 of the holder 12 via the spring elements 28.

[0050] The guide elements 16, 18 are then connected to the bracket 12 via the support element 20, the guide element 14 and the spring elements 28.

[0051] The spring elements 28, designed as levers, can be formed integrally with the rest of the holder 12 and / or the entire insert 10. For this purpose, a portion of the holder 12 can be made thinner to increase its elasticity sufficiently to create the spring elements 28.

[0052] In the embodiment according to Figure 7 Instead of spring elements 28, the bracket 12 has fastening elements 29 on the radially outward facing surface.

[0053] The fastening elements 29 can have undercuts extending in the circumferential direction with respect to the opening 34. The undercuts can also be tangential to the outer surface of the bracket 12.

[0054] In the example according to Figure 7Three fastening elements 29 are provided on the outer circumference of the bracket 12, each offset by approximately 90°. However, any number of fastening elements can also be attached to the bracket 12. The position of the fastening elements on the bracket 12 can also be chosen arbitrarily. These fastening elements 29 can be inserted into or locked into the angle bracket in appropriate exceptions, whereby they are deformed, particularly in the circumferential direction. This prevents deformation of the bracket.

[0055] In all embodiments, the insert can be formed integrally with the component(s) or guide elements. Furthermore, the insert can be made of a material that is not subject to hydrolysis, such as polyphenylene sulfide (PPS).

[0056] The invention is not limited to one of the embodiments described above, but can be modified in a variety of ways. In particular, the design of guide elements can be applied to other types of components that are to be fastened in a channel section by the holder. The scope of protection of the invention is defined by the attached claims. Reference symbol list
