Description
[0001] The invention relates to a drain comprising a collecting tray with a bottom, an upright peripheral wall arranged along the periphery of the bottom, which peripheral wall bounds an inflow opening, and a discharge opening for discharging collected water; wherein the peripheral wall of the collecting tray consists of two parts so as to be height-adjustable; and wherein the peripheral wall comprises a first peripheral wall part, which first peripheral wall part is upright along the periphery of the bottom and is arranged thereon, and wherein the peripheral wall comprises a second peripheral wall part which is displaceable relative to the first peripheral wall part in a direction perpendicularly of the bottom. Such a drain is for instance known from EP 2140072.
[0002] Drains are usually placed in the centre of a floor, after which a tile floor is laid around the drain and, finally, a seal, such as a silicone mastic bead, is arranged between the peripheral wall of the collecting tray of the drain and the surrounding tiles.
[0003] In the case of elongate drains it is more usual to place them against a wall so that the tile floor to be laid requires only a single slope. Because the drain lies against a wall in these cases, it is more difficult to provide a good seal between the collecting tray and the wall, which increases the chance of leakages.
[0004] In the shower drain according to EP 1287213 an upright plate is provided on one side, with which the drain can be mounted against a wall. Because the plate is formed integrally with the collecting tray, this upright plate, on which a sealing membrane can be arranged, provides for a reliable seal in the transition from wall to floor and drain. The drawback of this solution is that a special model, specifically for such wall applications, must be kept in stock. This shower drain cannot for instance be applied in the centre of a floor.
[0005] It is further known, for instance from EP 2140072, to use an adjusting frame in elongate drains, which frame surrounds the inflow opening of the drain and thereby provides a finish for the side of the surrounding tiles. The adjusting frame here usually lies against the peripheral wall which is upright from the bottom. Depending on the application and wishes, it is necessary to arrange a seal between the adjusting frame and this upright peripheral wall, which is usually a silicone sealant or the like. When the drain is placed against a wall, it is difficult to reach between the adjusting frame and the peripheral wall with a mastic gun.
[0006] In the case of such adjusting frames it is moreover known to provide a horizontal flange on the side adjacent to the wall, so that the gap between the adjusting frame and the wall tiles can be bridged. The horizontal flange however does impede the option of arranging a seal after the adjusting frame has been arranged. In the case of such a known adjusting frame it is thereby necessary to first arrange the seal, such as a sealant, and then place the adjusting frame, in hopes that the adjusting frame will be sealed to sufficient extent by the already arranged sealant. A visual inspection hereof is however not possible due to the horizontal flange on the frame.
[0007] When a shower drain with a horizontal flange arranged therearound is used and placed against a wall, the width of the horizontal flange will ensure that the inflow opening comes to lie at a distance from the wall. This is because the flange is usually for instance more than 2 centimetres wide in order to provide a sufficient attaching surface for a tile membrane, while wall tiles are usually no thicker than 1 centimetre. This will result in a gap of at least 1 centimetre between the wall tiles and the inflow opening of the shower drain, which for instance has to be filled with a specially cut tile strip.
[0008] The inflow opening of a drain is understood to mean the opening along which the majority of the water to be discharged flows into the drain. In some drains a secondary drainage is further provided, this having small individual openings along which small quantities of leaked water, for instance coming from under a tile layer, can still flow into the drain. Such openings for secondary drainage are not deemed to be the inflow opening of a drain in the present invention.

[0010] It is now an object of the invention to provide a drain wherein the above stated drawbacks are reduced or even obviated.

[0012] The drain according to the invention is very suitable to be placed against a wall. The necessary sealing can then be provided and, finally, an elongate profile is placed adjacently of a side of a peripheral wall. This profile can provide the connection of the drain to the wall so that a seal need not immediately be arranged in the corner where the wall, floor and drain meet.
[0013] Because the centre of gravity of the cross-section of the profile lies outside the inflow opening, the profile will extend substantially outside the inflow opening, whereby it can provide a bridging between the inflow opening and for instance a wall.
[0014] It is possible to provide such elongate profiles along more sides of the peripheral wall, for instance when the drain is placed in the corner against two walls at right angles to each other.
[0015] The use of a separate profile enables the colour and material of the profile to be chosen as desired. It is thus for instance possible to have the colour of the profile match the colour of the wall tiles. The profile can for instance be made from stainless steel, although a plastic, such as corian, is also possible.

The height of the upper edge of the peripheral wall can hereby be adjusted to the thickness of the surrounding tiles or finishing layer.
[0017] An additional advantage of the invention is that the two-part peripheral wall can be easily sealed with a sealant layer. The seal can then still be visually inspected, only after which the elongate profile is arranged on the upper edge of the two-part peripheral wall and a good connection to an adjacent wall can thus be obtained.
[0018] In a preferred embodiment of the drain according to the invention the elongate profile comprises a depending wall part, which wall part extends via the inflow opening on the inner side of the peripheral wall or in a longitudinal groove in the upper edge of the side of the peripheral wall.
[0019] When moisture comes to lie on the profile, it will automatically flow via the profile and the depending wall part into the inflow opening. It is thus for instance possible to attach a sealing membrane, such as a tile membrane, to the profile and to incorporate this membrane behind a finishing layer, such as a tile layer. If a crack were to appear in the tile-work, leakage water will flow via the sealing membrane, over the profile and into the inflow opening, whereby leakage cannot occur.
[0020] In a drain according to the invention the elongate profile comprises a horizontal wall part extending from the upper edge of the side of the peripheral wall and away from the inflow opening.

Claims
1. Drain (1; 60) comprising a collecting tray with a bottom (2), an upright peripheral wall (3, 4) arranged along the periphery of the bottom (2), which peripheral wall (3, 4) bounds an inflow opening (8), and a discharge opening (7) for discharging collected water; wherein the peripheral wall (3, 4) of the collecting tray consists of two parts (3, 4) so as to be height-adjustable; wherein the peripheral wall (3, 4) comprises a first peripheral wall part (3), which first peripheral wall part (3) is upright along the periphery of the bottom (2) and is arranged thereon, and wherein the peripheral wall (3, 4) comprises a second peripheral wall part (4) which is displaceable relative to the first peripheral wall part (3) in a direction perpendicularly of the bottom (2); and wherein an elongate profile (10; 61) with substantially constant cross-section and comprising a horizontal wall part (11) is provided, which profile (10; 61) is arranged parallel to, adjacently of a side of the peripheral wall (3, 4), wherein the centre of gravity (Z) of the cross-section of the profile (10; 61) lies outside the inflow opening (8), as seen in top view of the drain (1; 60), and wherein the horizontal wall part (11) extends away from the inflow opening (8); characterized in that the horizontal wall part (11) extends from an upper edge of the side of the peripheral wall (3, 4) ; and the elongate profile (10; 55; 61) comprises a vertical, upright wall part which is arranged on the distal end of the horizontal wall part (11), as seen in cross-section.

Drain (50) comprising a collecting tray with a bottom (51), an upright peripheral wall (52, 54) arranged along the periphery of the bottom (51), which peripheral wall (52, 54) bounds an inflow opening (8), and a discharge opening (7) for discharging collected water; wherein the peripheral wall (52, 54) of the collecting tray consists of two parts (52, 54) so as to be height-adjustable; wherein the peripheral wall (52, 54) comprises a first peripheral wall part (52), which first peripheral wall part (52) is upright along the periphery of the bottom (51) and is arranged thereon, and wherein the peripheral wall (52, 54) comprises a second peripheral wall part (54) which is displaceable relative to the first peripheral wall part (52) in a direction perpendicularly of the bottom (51); and wherein an elongate profile (55) with substantially constant cross-section is arranged parallel to, adjacently of a side of the peripheral wall (52, 54) and wherein the centre of gravity (Z) of the cross-section of the profile (55) lies outside the inflow opening (8), as seen in top view of the drain (50); characterized in that the elongate profile (55) is a U-shaped profile arranged on an upper edge of the second peripheral wall part (54) along one side and configured for having a vertical glass plate (56) placed in the U-shaped profile (55).
3. Drain as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the elongate profile (10; 55; 61) comprises a depending wall part (12), which wall part extends via the inflow opening (8) on the inner side of the peripheral wall or in a longitudinal groove in the upper edge of the side of the peripheral wall.
4. Drain as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3, further comprising a filler body (14), such as a foam body, arranged on the underside of the horizontal wall part.
5. Drain as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims, further comprising a horizontal peripheral flange (9; 53) arranged on the outer side of the collecting tray.
6. Drain as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims, wherein the second peripheral wall part (4; 54) is formed integrally with the first peripheral wall part (3; 52).
7. Combination of a drain as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims and a sub-floor, wherein the collecting tray is at least partially embedded in the sub-floor, wherein the combination further comprises a seal, such as a silicone mastic bead, arranged between the two parts of the upright peripheral wall.
8. Method for arranging a drain as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims in a sub-floor, which method comprises the steps of: - providing a drain as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims; - positioning the collecting tray on a ground; - pouring a sub-floor around the collecting tray, such that the collecting tray is at least partially embedded in the poured sub-floor; - arranging a seal between the two parts of the upright peripheral wall of the collecting tray; - arranging the elongate profile adjacently of a side of the peripheral wall after the seal has been arranged, wherein the elongate profile extends over the upper surface of the sub-floor.
