Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to travel adapters and a set comprising the travel adapter.
[0002] Electrical adapters, especially so-called travel adapters, are known per se. They consist of at least one plug and at least one socket. The plug has a contact device that is adapted or adaptable to country-specific standards (short: standards) of the socket. The socket has at least two contact openings that are shaped and spaced apart in such a way that a contact device of a power plug, e.g., of an electrical device, for example the contact device of a power plug type C (CEE 7 / 16), can be connected to it.
[0003] CN 104 124 588 A discloses a travel adapter with a two-part housing. The housing has a lower housing section with several plugs and an upper housing section. The upper housing section is rotatable and has plug openings for an external plug. The upper housing section can be rotated into different positions. Depending on the position of the upper housing section, there is electrical contact with one of the plugs of a different standard in the lower housing section. The selected plugs can be manually folded out of the housing as needed.
[0004] The disadvantage of this known solution is that the rotating housing part is mounted on the lower housing, making the size of the travel adapter impractical for the user. Furthermore, the two housing parts are separated by a circumferential gap, which can accumulate dirt and / or foreign objects during normal use, for example, while traveling. This increases the risk of user error.
[0005] DE 10 2012 106538 A1 discloses a travel adapter with a housing, wherein several plug openings are arranged on the housing for arranging external plugs of different standards. The housing has several plugs of different standards, which can be selectively guided out of the housing. Sliding elements are arranged within the housing to prevent foreign objects from entering the plug opening on the housing.
[0006] CA 2 961 248 A1 discloses a travel adapter with a housing, wherein several plug openings are arranged on the housing for arranging external plugs of different standards. The housing has several contact pins of different standards. A gear is arranged within the housing, with which the contact pins can be pivoted out of the housing. GB 2 522 805 A also shows such a travel adapter.
[0007] US 8,708,722 B1 discloses a travel adapter, wherein an interface for arranging external plug elements of different standards is arranged on the housing.
[0008] EP 1 257 018 B1 discloses an electrical plug adapter for selectively connecting a plug system as a plug to different country-specific plug systems. The plug adapter has a housing, on the outer circumference of which several different protruding plug systems are arranged, and has a socket body as a socket, which is rotatably mounted in the housing. The socket body has electrical contacts that can be connected to corresponding electrical contacts of the respective plug systems in the respective rotational positions of the socket body assigned to the outer plug systems, wherein one of the plug systems has a protective contact pin movably mounted in the housing.
[0009] DE 199 02 642 A1 discloses a multi-use travel plug with a housing, on the sides of which plugs are provided according to various national standards, and with a socket arranged on the housing so that it can rotate relative to the housing and serves as a power outlet. The socket is electrically and mechanically connected to a pair of contacts. Depending on the relative rotational position between the socket and the housing, the contact pair rests resiliently on one of several pairs of contact surfaces. The pairs of contact surfaces are connected to the contact pins of each plug.
[0010] The disadvantage of these known solutions is that they have a complex structure and therefore, on the one hand, make an inexperienced user uncertain about the correct use of the travel adapter and, on the other hand, do not protect the user from incorrect use of the travel adapter in the respective country.
[0011] The object of the present invention is to remedy one or more disadvantages of the prior art. Specifically, a travel adapter is to be created that can be used in countries with different standards and whose handling is improved for the user in the respective countries. Specifically, a set comprising the travel adapter is to be created that is easy to use in many countries and whose handling is improved.
[0012] This object is achieved by the devices defined in the independent claims. Advantageous further developments are set forth in the figures, the description, and in particular in the dependent claims.
[0013] A travel adapter according to the invention comprises a housing, at least one socket according to a first standard, and at least one plug according to a second standard. The socket according to the first standard has at least a first contact socket and a second contact socket, and the at least one plug according to the second standard has at least a first contact pin and a second contact pin. The plug is arranged on the housing, and the socket is rotatably mounted in the housing. The socket has a socket housing, with contact elements arranged in the socket housing, which are each connected to the first contact socket and the second contact socket of the socket. The contact elements can be electrically connected to the first contact pin or the second contact pin of the respective plug by rotating the socket relative to the housing into an operating position corresponding to the respective plug. The at least one plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin are pivotably arranged on the housing such that the at least one plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be pivoted out of the housing.
[0014] The travel adapter according to the invention can be used in countries with different standards, improving its handling for the user in each country. Furthermore, this travel adapter features a compact and robust design. There is only one operating position for the plug or for the first and second contact pins.
[0015] The operating position is the pivoted-out end position in which the plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be plugged into an external or separate socket. In contrast, the rest position is the pivoted-in end position in which the plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin are at least partially pivoted into the housing.
[0016] The plugs or the first contact pin and the second contact pin are arranged in such a way that they can be pivoted out from the rest position on the housing. The plugs or the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be arranged essentially freely on the housing, so that their functional use is essentially comparable to the arrangement of the plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin in the housing. The arrangement in the housing prevents the plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin from snagging on other objects, for example objects such as luggage, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the travel adapter. The respective contact elements are preferably formed as a single piece with the respective contact sockets. This prevents the contact elements from becoming detached from the contact sockets in the housing, thereby improving the functional stability of the travel adapter.
[0017] According to the invention, the first contact pin and the second contact pin are coupled together in such a way that they can be pivoted out of the housing together. The first contact pin and the second contact pin can thus be moved synchronously from their rest position to their operating position. They thus reach their operating position simultaneously, allowing the user to easily plug them into an external or separate socket.
[0018] Preferably, the socket has a contact tongue for establishing a protective conductor connection and the at least one plug has a third contact pin as a protective conductor pin, wherein a third contact element is arranged in the socket housing, which is connected to the contact tongue and wherein the first contact pin and the second contact pin and the third contact pin are coupled to one another in such a way that they can be pivoted out of the housing together. This means that the travel adapter can also be used in countries that require a protective conductor system. The contact tongue can be connected to the third contact pin using the third contact element. The third contact element is arranged on the socket housing and is thus rotatably mounted in the housing of the travel adapter. The coupling of the contact pins enables synchronous movement of all three contact pins so that they can be easily moved into their respective operating positions.
[0019] The third contact pin is preferably linearly movable. The third contact pin can be designed as a protective conductor pin, which can be located between the first contact pin and the second contact pin. The protective conductor pin can be movable perpendicular to the connecting line extending between the first contact pin and the second contact pin. For example, a plug with a linearly movable protective conductor pin has an elongated hole in which the protective conductor pin can move linearly. In this context, a linear movement is a movement along the longitudinal extent of the elongated hole. This allows the Swiss plug standard, the Italian plug standard, and the Brazilian plug standard to be covered with one and the same plug.
[0020] Alternatively or in addition to the contact tongue, the socket has a third contact socket for establishing a protective earth connection. As previously described, the third contact socket can also be connected to the third contact pin using the third contact element. In addition to the aforementioned advantages, a travel adapter with three contact sockets has a simple design that securely holds an external or separate plug after it has been inserted into the socket.
[0021] Preferably, the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be pivoted out in a first pivoting direction, and the third contact pin can be pivoted out in a second pivoting direction opposite to the first pivoting direction. This allows the contact pins to be arranged in the rest position in the housing of the travel adapter in a space-saving manner. The third contact pin is designed as the protective conductor pin, so that it can be pivoted in the opposite direction to the first and second contact pins.
[0022] In addition to the above, the third contact pin can be moved both linearly and pivotally. This allows the third contact pin, designed as a protective conductor pin, to be used particularly flexibly.
[0023] According to the invention, a gear mechanism is provided for the coupling. A gear mechanism for the jointly pivotable contact pins ensures synchronous movement of these contact pins when pivoting out into their operating position. In particular, a gear mechanism is provided for coupling the contact pins. A gear mechanism has toothings that enable efficient coupling of the jointly pivotable contact pins, with the toothing having a compact design. The contact pins can be precisely moved from their rest positions to their operating positions and back again using the toothing.
[0024] Alternatively or additionally, a coupling rod mechanism is provided to connect the contact pins. A coupling rod mechanism enables a particularly reliable coupling of the contact pins, which move together. This minimizes mechanical stress on the contact pins, thus extending the service life of the travel adapter.
[0025] In particular, a gear notch is provided on the gear for accommodating at least one of the contact pins. This allows for an improved, compact design of the travel adapter, as the contact pins are arranged in the housing in a space-saving manner in their rest position. For example, the third contact pin is arranged in the gear notch in its pivoted-in rest position.
[0026] Preferably, the travel adapter has a release mechanism that allows the respective plug or the first contact pin and the second contact pin to be swung out when the socket is in the respective operating position. At the same time, the release mechanism can prevent the remaining plugs or first contact pins and second contact pins from being swung out, forcing them to remain in their rest position. This allows the user to use only the appropriate plug or first contact pin and second contact pin after selecting the desired standard.
[0027] Preferably, the unlocking mechanism is formed in at least two parts and comprises an unlocking gate and an engagement element. The unlocking gate and the engagement element interact in such a way that reliable unlocking is possible and jamming of the plugs and / or contact pins can be prevented. The unlocking mechanism is advantageously formed in two parts, thus ensuring a simple structural design.
[0028] Preferably, the unlocking gate is arranged on the socket housing, and the engagement element is arranged on the plug. The arrangement of the unlocking gate on the socket housing enables stable actuation of the unlocking mechanism when rotating the socket. The engagement element can be arranged on the plug or on the first contact pin and / or second contact pin, but also on the coupling or gear, so that the engagement element can be arranged close to the socket housing, thus enabling a reliable and stable interaction between the unlocking gate and the engagement element.
[0029] Preferably, at least one further plug with a further standard is arranged on the housing, wherein the further plug has at least one further first contact pin and one further second contact pin. The contact elements of the socket can be electrically connected to the further first contact pin or the further second contact pin of the further plug by rotating the socket relative to the housing into an operating position corresponding to the respective plug. The further plug or the further first contact pin and the further second contact pin are pivotably arranged on the housing in such a way that the further plug or the further first contact pin and the further second contact pin can be pivoted out of the housing.
[0030] With the travel adapter, the user can select the desired country and then move just the plug suitable for that country, or just the first contact pin and second contact pin suitable for that country, into the operating position. There is only one operating position for the plug or for the first contact pin and second contact pin. This ensures that the travel adapter can be used safely and correctly in the desired country. This travel adapter protects the user from having to try out different plugs in each country. This improves handling and ensures a high level of safety during use. The additional plug and the additional first contact pin and additional second contact pin can be arranged on a gear as described above.
[0031] Preferably, a contact clip or contact extension is arranged on at least one of the plugs or on the first contact pin and the second contact pin. A contact clip can be designed as an elastically springy metal sheet, which can thus be reproducibly arranged on the contact elements in the socket and enables reliable electrical contact. The contact extensions are simply constructed and can be easily connected to the contact elements of the socket, providing reliable electrical contact.
[0032] The travel adapter preferably has a socket for an overcurrent fuse. Travel adapters are used in different countries with different power grids. An overcurrent fuse is advantageous for the safe use of the travel adapter and may be necessary due to country-specific certification regulations. If a damaged device is connected to the travel adapter, the overcurrent fuse prevents damage to the travel adapter, as the overcurrent fuse would then trip. The socket ensures easy replacement of the overcurrent fuse.
[0033] In particular, the receptacle is located on the socket housing. This allows the receptacle, and thus the overcurrent protection contained within it, to be positioned close to the contact sockets.
[0034] Preferably, the socket is positioned opposite the power outlet. This allows the travel adapter to be kept small.
[0035] In particular, the overcurrent protection device is a fuse. Fuses can be manufactured for different overcurrent protection classes and feature a compact design and low weight.
[0036] Advantageously, the receptacle is inseparable from the receptacle housing when removed from the receptacle housing. This prevents the receptacle from being lost. At the same time, this ensures that the contact sockets or contact elements in the receptacle housing cannot be touched.
[0037] Preferably, the travel adapter has a locking device for locking the receptacle. The locking device prevents access to the overcurrent protection when one of the plugs or contact pins is in its operating position. This further improves safe use of the travel adapter.
[0038] Preferably, the locking device is formed in at least two parts and has a locking cam and a locking groove. The locking cams and the locking groove tightly engage with each other and prevent the receptacle from opening.
[0039] Preferably, the locking groove is arranged on the housing, and the locking cam is arranged on the receptacle. This enables a stable interaction of these elements of the locking device on the travel adapter.
[0040] In particular, the locking groove and locking cam can be brought into operative connection in a position on the socket housing, allowing the receptacle to be removed from the socket housing. This position varies depending on the operating position of the plugs or contact pins. This ensures that the overcurrent protection device can only be removed when all plugs or contact pins are in their resting position, thus preventing the travel adapter from being in electrical contact with an external power supply.
[0041] Preferably, the travel adapter has an interface that allows an additional module to be attached to the travel adapter and electrically connected to the power outlet. This allows an additional electrical device to be connected to the travel adapter, further enhancing the range of applications of the travel adapter described here.
[0042] Advantageously, the interface has an electrical contact which interacts with an electrical contact on the additional module so that the additional module can be supplied with electrical energy.
[0043] In particular (but not exclusively), the additional module is selected from the group of a USB charger module, mobile battery module, Bluetooth® module, WiFi module, wireless charger module, IoT (Internet of Things) module, night light module, cable storage module, smartphone holder module, smart meter module (particularly with a voltage, current, and power display), key finder module, smoke detector module, mosquito repellent module, or room fragrance module. For example, an electrical device such as a smartphone, tablet, or music player can be connected to the USB charger module so that the battery located therein can be charged.
[0044] Preferably, the travel adapter has at least one recessed grip for rotating the socket. This at least one recessed grip makes it easier for the user to handle the travel adapter. The user can hold the travel adapter with one hand and rotate the socket of the travel adapter into the desired position with the other hand.
[0045] This recessed grip is preferably located on the socket housing. This improves the feel for the travel adapter user and makes it easier to turn the socket.
[0046] In particular, this recessed grip is located at the interface. Thus, the recessed grip and the interface are located on the same component of the housing, allowing the recessed grip and the interface to be manufactured in a single step. If necessary, the socket can be rotated using an additional module located at the interface.
[0047] The travel adapter preferably has two recessed grips for turning the socket. The user can, for example, insert one finger into each of the recessed grips and turn the socket. The two recessed grips provide a secure grip when turning the socket. The two recessed grips are advantageously positioned opposite each other, allowing for easy handling.
[0048] Preferably, the socket in the wall socket is compatible with plugs of the Brazilian, Italian, and Swiss standards. The socket in the wall socket can also be compatible with Type J, Type L, or Type N plugs, thus increasing the flexibility of the travel adapter.
[0049] Preferably, the travel adapter is provided with at least one recess for pivoting the plug out. After the travel adapter user has selected the plug of the desired standard and rotated the socket into the designated position, the user can reach into the recess and pivot the selected plug out of the housing easily and with virtually no resistance.
[0050] Alternatively or additionally, at least one actuating recess is provided on the travel adapter for pivoting out the first contact pins and the second contact pins. As previously described, the user can use the actuating recess to easily pivot the first contact pin and the second contact pin out of the housing, thereby improving handling for the user. Furthermore, the actuating recess can ensure that all contact pins can be pivoted out of the housing.
[0051] Preferably, a locking cam is arranged on the plug for interaction with the housing, such that the plug can be locked in a rest position within the housing and in a pivoted-out operating position. This prevents the plug from accidentally leaving either the rest position or the pivoted-out operating position, thereby improving the operational reliability of the travel adapter.
[0052] Alternatively or additionally, a locking cam is arranged on the first contact pins and the second contact pins for interaction with the housing, such that the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be locked in a rest position within the housing and in a pivoted-out operating position. This prevents the contact pins from inadvertently leaving either the rest position or the pivoted-out operating position, thereby improving the operational reliability of the travel adapter.
[0053] Preferably, at least one widening element is arranged on the housing. The at least one widening element enables the socket housing to securely fit against an external power outlet when the travel adapter is arranged in the external power outlet with a plug or a first contact pin and a second contact pin.
[0054] Preferably, the housing of the plug according to the British standard has at least one widening element. This widening element enables a space-saving arrangement of the relatively wide contact pins according to the British standard in the housing of the travel adapter.
[0055] Furthermore, a standard for travel adapters, such as the British Standard, may specify a minimum footprint for the side of the travel adapter housing where the plug or contact pins are located. Furthermore, this standard or another standard may require that the extended contact pins be at a specified distance from at least one edge area of the housing side. To meet the footprint specified by this standard or the specified distance from at least one edge area, the travel adapter described here advantageously has at least one widening element.
[0056] In particular, the at least one widening element can be moved into an activation position by pivoting the plug outward by means of a guide slot. The guide slot enables stable movement of the at least one widening element into its activation position, thereby allowing repeated movement of the at least one widening element without wear.
[0057] Alternatively or additionally, the at least one extension element can be moved into an activation position by means of a guide rail by pivoting the first contact pin and the second contact pin outward. This eliminates the need for an additional drive mechanism for moving the extension elements, allowing the travel adapter to be lightweight and compact.
[0058] In the activation position, the widening elements are moved out of the housing to such an extent that the resulting base area on the housing side meets the requirements of the relevant standard.
[0059] In the inactive position, however, the extension elements are arranged in the housing to keep the travel adapter as compact as possible. This allows the travel adapter's advantageous properties for the user, such as its lightweight, small, and compact design, to be adequately met.
[0060] In particular, at least one further widening element is arranged on the housing, which can be moved into an activation position by means of a guide rail by pivoting out the first contact pin and the second contact pin. This at least one further widening element enables the socket housing to be even more securely attached to an external socket.
[0061] Another unclaimed travel adapter comprises a housing, at least one socket of a first standard and at least one plug of a second standard, wherein the socket of the first standard has at least a first contact socket and a second contact socket and the plug of the second standard has at least a first contact pin and a second contact pin. The first contact pin is electrically connected to the first contact socket and the second contact pin is electrically connected to the second contact socket. The first contact pin and the second contact pin are movably arranged on the housing. At least one widening element is arranged on the housing and is movable into an activation position.
[0062] The at least one activated widening element enables a standard-compliant footprint and a stable fit of the travel adapter housing against an external power outlet (mains socket) when the first contact pin and the second contact pin are arranged in the contact sockets of an external power outlet. Furthermore, the at least one widening element enables a compact design of the travel adapter, whereby the size of the travel adapter can be further reduced. The activation position of the at least one widening element can be achieved when the first contact pin and the second contact pin are in their operating position. In contrast, the widening elements can be in an inactive position when the first contact pin and the second contact pin are in their rest position. In the inactive position, the widening elements are arranged sectionally in the housing and, together with the housing sides, form a space-saving, compact unit. For example, the widening elements can be moved by a user, in particular manually, from the inactive position to their activated position, or manually back to the inactive position. This adequately fulfills the advantageous properties of the travel adapter for the user, such as a lightweight, small, and compact design. The operating position of the first contact pin and the second contact pin is the extended end position in which the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be plugged into an external or separate socket. In contrast, a rest position is the moved-in end position in which the first contact pin and the second contact pin are at least partially located in the housing.
[0063] Preferably, the at least one widening element is arranged on the housing in such a way that it can be moved into an activation position by moving out the first contact pin and the second contact pin.
[0064] Alternatively, the travel adapter can have a release mechanism for activating the at least one extension element. The user can activate the release mechanism, for example, via a release button, which releases the at least one extension element so that it is moved from its inactive position to its activated position. The release mechanism can have a gear mechanism, which can be arranged in the housing of the travel adapter and which connects the release button to the contact pins, so that the contact pins can be moved out of the housing with the aid of the gear mechanism. The release button can be arranged on the housing of the travel adapter so that it is easily accessible to the user.
[0065] Preferably, the plug has a further widening element, which can be moved into an activation position by moving out the first contact pin and the second contact pin.
[0066] In the activated position, the extension elements are moved out of the housing so that the resulting footprint on the side of the housing meets the requirements of the relevant standard. In the inactive position, however, the extension elements are arranged inside the housing to ensure the travel adapter remains as compact as possible.
[0067] In particular, the plug is designed according to the British standard, with the first and second contact pins being wider and positioned comparatively farther apart than in other standards. These wide contact pins and their spacing require comparatively more space in the housing of a travel adapter. For travel adapters with a plug that complies with the British standard, the widening elements described here are particularly suitable for making the travel adapter particularly compact.
[0068] In particular, the at least one and the further widening elements are each movable by means of a guide rail. The guide rails enable stable movement of these widening elements into their activation position, allowing repeated movement of these widening elements without wear. This eliminates the need for an additional drive mechanism for moving the widening elements, allowing the travel adapter to be constructed in a lightweight and compact manner.
[0069] Preferably, the first contact pin and the second contact pin are coupled together in such a way that they can be moved out of the housing together. The first contact pin and the second contact pin can thus be moved synchronously from their rest position to their operating position. They thus reach their operating position simultaneously, allowing the user to easily plug them into an external or separate power outlet.
[0070] Advantageously, at least the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be moved linearly out of the housing. The two contact pins can be moved out of the housing using contact pin guides.
[0071] It is advantageous for at least the first and second contact pins to be pivotable out of the housing. This makes it particularly easy to move these contact pins out of the housing and back in again.
[0072] Preferably, the first contact pin and the second contact pin are coupled together in such a way that they can be moved out of the housing together. The first contact pin and the second contact pin can thus be moved synchronously from their rest position to their operating position. They thus reach their operating position simultaneously, allowing the user to easily plug them into an external or separate power outlet.
[0073] Preferably, the socket has a third contact socket connected to a third contact pin that can be moved out of the housing and serves as a protective earth pin. This allows the travel adapter to be used in countries where a protective earth system is required.
[0074] In particular, the first contact pin, the second contact pin, and the third contact pin are coupled together in such a way that they can be moved out of the housing together. The coupling of the contact pins enables synchronous movement of all three contact pins, so that they can be easily moved into their respective operating positions.
[0075] Preferably, the first contact pin and the second contact pin can be pivoted out in a first pivoting direction, and the third contact pin can be pivoted out in a second pivoting direction opposite to the first pivoting direction. This allows the contact pins to be arranged in the rest position in the housing of the travel adapter in a space-saving manner. The third contact pin is designed as the protective conductor pin, so that it can be pivoted in the opposite direction to the first and second contact pins.
[0076] Preferably, the third contact socket has a slotted hole. This allows the same socket to meet the Swiss plug standard, the Italian plug standard, and the Brazilian plug standard.
[0077] Preferably, the travel adapter has an interface that allows an additional module, as described here, to be arranged on the travel adapter and that allows the additional module arranged at the interface to be electrically connected to the power outlet. This allows an additional electrical device to be connected to the travel adapter, further improving the range of applications of the travel adapter described here.
[0078] Advantageously, the interface has an electrical contact which interacts with an electrical contact on the additional module so that the additional module can be supplied with electrical energy.
[0079] A set according to claim 15 is also disclosed. The plug adapter has a plug adapter housing on which a plug is arranged for interaction with the socket of the travel adapter, as well as one or more sockets of different standards. The plug adapter can have a substantially disc-shaped plug adapter housing so that the set can be constructed compactly when assembled. The plug of the plug adapter has a first standard so that it can advantageously be plugged into the socket of the travel adapter. The plug of the plug adapter is thus electrically connected to the contact sockets of the socket, and thus an electrical device of a first standard connected to the socket of the plug adapter can be electrically connected to an external socket of a second standard.Advantageously, the plug adapter's socket supports multiple standards, allowing devices with plugs of different standards to be connected to this socket. This further enhances the flexibility of the travel adapter or set.
[0080] Preferably, the set includes one of the travel adapters described here, as well as an additional module for interacting with the travel adapter's interface. This further enhances the flexibility of the set, as previously described.
[0081] Further advantages, features, and details of the invention will become apparent from the following description, which describes exemplary embodiments of the invention with reference to the figures. Lists such as first, second, third, or further serve merely to identify the components.

The socket 10 is designed to accommodate external plugs of different standards. The socket 10 has a socket housing 15 in which a first contact socket 11, a second contact socket 12, and a third contact socket 13 are arranged. The contact sockets 11, 12, 13 are designed to receive contact pins of external plugs (power plugs) of different standards and to interact with them. Furthermore, contact tongues 14, 14' are arranged in the socket housing 15, which can also interact with contacts of an external plug and are electrically connected to the contact socket 13.
[0085] The socket 10 is mounted in the housing 101 so as to be rotatable in the direction of rotation R, and the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ are arranged on the respective housing sides 105, 106, 107, 108 of the housing 101, each offset by 90° to one another, and are pivotably mounted on the housing 101. By rotating the socket 10 relative to the housing 101 to the respective housing side 105, 106, 107, 108, the respective plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ or the first contact pin 21, the second contact pin 22, and the third contact pin 23 can be pivoted out of the housing 101. In this case, only the plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ selected by the user can be pivoted out of the housing 101 into its operating position. The selection of the respective plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ is visualized using the selection marking 19. Actuating recesses 24 for pivoting out the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ are arranged on the housing sides 105, 106, 107, 108 on the housing 101.The actuating recesses 24 enable engagement in the housing 101, so that the respectively selected plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ can be manually pivoted out of the housing. The other plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ remain in their respective pivoted-in rest position in the housing 101 and are at least partially covered by widening elements 25. The widening elements 25 can be moved into an activation position by means of a slotted guide 26 by pivoting out the contact pins 21, 22, 23. In the activation position, the widening elements 25 can protrude beyond the housing edges, so that the housing 101 is widened on this housing side 105.
[0086] On the side of the housing 101 opposite the socket 10, a receptacle 60 is arranged on the socket housing 15. This receptacle 60 accommodates an overcurrent fuse 61. If the receptacle 60 and the overcurrent fuse 61 arranged therein are arranged within the socket housing 15, the overcurrent fuse 61 is electrically connected, for example, to the first contact socket 11. The receptacle 60 has a receptacle guide 62 with which the receptacle 60 and thus also the overcurrent fuse 61 can be guided into the socket housing 15. The receptacle 60 is connected to the socket housing 15 in the extended position.
[0087] The travel adapter 100 has a locking device 70 for locking the receptacle 60. The locking device 70 prevents access to the overcurrent protection 61 when one of the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ is in its operating position. The locking device 70 can only be unlocked when the socket 10 is rotated along the rotation direction R up to the locking mark 63 and the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ are in their rest position. The locking device is designed in two parts and has a locking cam 71 and a locking groove 72, wherein the locking groove 72 is arranged on the socket housing 15 and the locking cam 71 is arranged on the receptacle.
[0088] The travel adapter 100 has two grip recesses 102 on the socket housing 15, which serve to rotate the socket 10 in the direction of rotation R, so that it can be rotated relative to the housing 101 into a position in which the receptacle 60 can be removed from the socket housing 15. This position corresponds to the locking position 64 on the socket housing 15.
[0089] The travel adapter 100 has an interface 80 on the side opposite the socket 10, which interface makes it possible to arrange an additional module on the travel adapter 100 and to electrically connect the additional module arranged on the interface 80 to the socket 10.
[0090] Fig. 5 to 7show the socket 10 of the previously described travel adapter 100 with the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20"' arranged thereon, wherein the housing 101 is hidden in these figures. The plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ are designed according to the British standard (plug 20), the American standard (plug 20'), the Swiss standard (plug 20") and the Australian standard (plug 20‴). Plugs of other standards can also be arranged on a travel adapter 100 described here. The plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ each have a first contact pin 21, 21', 21", 21‴ and a second contact pin 22, 22', 22", 22‴. According to their standard, the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ shown require a protective conductor pin, which is shown as a third contact pin 23, 23', 23", 23‴.Contact elements 16, 17, 18 are arranged in the socket housing 15, each of which is electrically connected to the first contact socket 11, the second contact socket 12, and the third contact socket 13 and / or to the contact tongues 14, 14' of the socket 10. The third contact pin 23, 23', 23", 23‴ forms a protective conductor connection with the contact tongues 14, 14' of the socket 10 and / or with the third contact socket 13 and with the contact element 18. The contact elements 16, 17, 18 in the socket housing 15 can each be electrically connected to the respective plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ by rotating the socket 10 relative to the housing 101. For this purpose, the contact elements 16, 17, 18 are brought into contact with the respective first contact pin 21, 21', 21", 21‴, with the respective second contact pin 22, 22', 22", 22‴ and with the respective third contact pin 23, 23', 23", 23‴ and thus electrically connected.
[0091] Plugs according to a standard without a protective conductor pin do not have a third contact pin 23, 23', 23", 23‴. The contact element 18 which is electrically connected to the contact socket 13 or the contact tongues 14, 14' is electrically insulated from a plug without a third contact pin 23, 23', 23", 23‴ by being covered by the housing or by a plug cover (not shown).
[0092] The selection mark 19 on the socket housing 15 ( Fig. 2) is arranged in the area above the contact elements 16, 17, 18, so that the user of the travel adapter 100 can see with which plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ the contact sockets 11, 12, 13, 14, 14' are electrically connected. The respectively selected plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ or its contact pins 21, 22, 23; 21', 22', 23'; 21", 22", 23"; 21‴, 22‴, 23‴ are pivoted out of the housing by the user. The first contact pin 21, 21', 21", 21‴, the second contact pin 22, 22', 22", 22‴ and the third contact pin 23, 23', 23", 23‴ are coupled to one another in such a way that they can be pivoted out of the housing together. A gear is provided for coupling each of the contact pins 21, 22, 23; 21', 22', 23'; 21", 22", 23"; 21‴, 22"', 23‴. The contact pins 21", 22", 23" can only be swiveled out together with the plug 20", whereby a swivel device 28 is arranged on the plug 20" for this purpose.
[0093] As in the Fig. 8 to Fig. 10As shown, gears are used to couple the contact pins 21, 22, 23; 21', 22', 23'; 21", 22", 23"; 21‴, 22‴, 23‴, which are arranged on the socket housing 15. The contact pins 21, 22, 23; 21', 22', 23'; 21", 22", 23"; 21"', 22‴, 23‴ have contact clips 29, which each interact with the contact elements 16, 17, 18 on the socket housing, provided that one of the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ is in its operating position. The contact clips 29 are designed here as elastically springy metal sheets, thus representing one of the possible configurations of a detachable electrical connection. The gears are designed either as gear drives 30 or as coupling rod drives 40. A gear enables the mechanical coupling to pivot out the respective contact pins 21, 22, 23; 21', 22', 23'; 21"', 22"', 23‴, so that they can move synchronously into their operating position and / or rest position. In this case, locking cams 37, 47 are arranged on the gear of the plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ for interaction with the housing 101 of the travel adapter 100, such that the plug 20, 20', 20", 20‴ can be locked in the rest position in the housing 101 and in a pivoted-out operating position.
[0094] A gear transmission 30, as in the Fig. 9 shown, connects the contact pins 21', 22', 23'. The gear mechanism 30 has intermeshing teeth 31, 32 that allow the contact pins 21', 22', 23' to pivot outward together. The teeth 31, 32 rotate in opposite directions. A gear notch 33 is arranged on the gear mechanism, so that the third contact pin 23' is arranged in the gear notch 33 in its pivoted-in rest position, thus minimizing the size of the travel adapter.
[0095] A coupling rod gear 40, as in the Fig. 10shown, connects the contact pins 21, 22, 23. The coupling rod gear 40 has a connecting rod 41, which enables the joint pivoting out of the contact pins 21, 22, 23. In the illustration shown, the contact pins 21 and 22 are congruent, so that only the contact pin 21 can be shown.
[0096] As in the Fig. 9 and 10 As shown, the first contact pin 21, 21' and the second contact pin 22, 22' can be pivoted out in a first pivoting direction and the third contact pin 23; 23' can be pivoted out in a second pivoting direction opposite to the first pivoting direction.
[0097] The Fig. 9a and Fig. 9b show a further embodiment of the connector 20' according to Fig. 9This plug 20' has contact extensions 29a, which each interact with the contact elements 16, 17, 18 on the socket housing 15 when the plug 20' is in its operating position. The contact extensions 29a extend, as explained here, through the gear mechanism 30 and can be connected to the contact elements 16, 17, 18 and are held securely. The contact elements on the socket housing are designed to be elastically resilient, for example, as contact clips (not shown).
[0098] Fig. 11shows a 20" plug according to the Swiss standard, the Italian standard, and the Brazilian standard, whereby these standards are selectable. For this purpose, the third contact pin 23" serves as the protective conductor pin and is linearly movable. The protective conductor pin is arranged in a slot 36 between the first contact pin 21" and the second contact pin 22" and is linearly movable. After pivoting out the 20" plug with the pivoting device 28 and after the locking cam 27 engages on the housing 101, the user can move the protective conductor pin along the slot 36 into at least three positions.
[0099] Figs. 12 and 13 show the travel adapter 100 and a release mechanism 50, which enables the pivoting out of one of the plugs 20, 20', 20", 20‴ or their contact pins when the socket 10 or the selection marking 19 is in the respective operating position of the selected plug 20' (see e.g. Fig. 5). At the same time, the unlocking mechanism 50 prevents the remaining connectors 20, 20", 20‴ or their contact pins from swinging out, so that they necessarily remain in their rest position.
[0100] The unlocking mechanism 50 has an unlocking gate 51 and an engagement element 52. The unlocking gate 51 and the engagement element 52 interact in such a way that reliable unlocking is possible. The engagement element 52 is arranged on the gear 30 of the plug 20', and the unlocking gate 51 is arranged on the socket housing 15.
[0101] The Fig. 14 to 19show a further travel adapter 400 according to the invention in different views. The travel adapter 400 comprises a housing 401 in which a socket 410 with a first standard is arranged and in which a plug 420 with a standard different from the first standard is arranged. The standard of the plug 420 shown corresponds to the British standard. The socket 410 is designed to accommodate external plugs of different standards. For this purpose, the socket has a first contact socket 411, a second contact socket 412 and a third contact socket 413 as well as contact tongues 414, 414'. [0103] The contact pins 421, 422, 423 are movably arranged on the housing 401 so that they can be pivoted out of the housing 401. Their final position, pivoted out of the housing 401, is referred to as the operating position ( Fig. 18). In the operating position, the contact pins 421, 422, 423 can be inserted into the respective contact sockets of an external connector. In contrast, the rest position is the inserted end position in which the contact pins 421, 422, 423 are located in the housing 401 ( Fig. 16 ).
[0104] The contact pins 421, 422, 423 are, as already described in the Fig. 9 or Fig. 10 described are coupled to one another in such a way that they can be moved together out of the housing 401. For this purpose, the travel adapter 400 has a gear, and the contact pins 21, 22 and the contact pin 23 have different pivoting directions.
[0105] Widening elements 425 are arranged on the housing 401 and can be moved into an activation position by moving out the first contact pin 421 and the second contact pin 422. The widening elements 425 can be moved by means of a respective guide 426, as already described in the Fig. 1 described.
[0106] In an alternative embodiment of this travel adapter (as in Fig. 15 The widening elements can optionally be activated using a release device (shown in the figure). The user can activate the release device 418, for example, using a release button 419 (dashed circle), which releases the widening elements 425 so that they are moved from their inactive position to their activated position. The contact pins 421, 422, 423 can then be moved out of the housing 401. The release button 419 can be arranged on the housing 401 of the travel adapter 400 so that it is easily accessible to the user. A release slide can also be used as the release button 419.
[0107] The travel adapter 400 can include further elements of the travel adapter 100 according to the Fig. 1 to 13For example, the travel adapter 400 has an interface 480 that allows an additional module as described herein to be arranged on the travel adapter 400 and the additional module arranged on the interface 480 to be electrically connected to the socket 410.
[0108] Fig. 20shows a set 500 according to the invention, comprising a travel adapter 100 as described here, with an additional module 90, and a plug-in adapter 200. The plug-in adapter 200 has a plug-in adapter housing 201, on which a plug 220 is arranged for interaction with the socket 10 of the travel adapter 100, as well as one or more sockets 210 of different standards.
