Description

[0001] Zapf en til

[0002] The subject matter of the invention is a nozzle for dispensing a fluid, comprising a housing, a main channel for the fluid running therein, a main valve arranged in the main channel for controlling a fluid flow through the nozzle, a control device for actuating the main valve, a component holder connected to the housing and provided with an internal thread, and an attachment provided with an external thread. A threaded connection is produced between the internal thread of the component holder and the external thread of the attachment, wherein an axial position of the attachment can be adjusted by rotating the external thread relative to the internal thread.

[0003] The use of such nozzles is generally known from the prior art. The attachment can, for example, be a main valve seat provided with an external thread, as shown in EP 2 096 080 B1, wherein the threaded connection is used to fix the main valve seat within the main channel to a component receptacle provided with an internal thread.

[0004] A torque wrench is typically used for this purpose, allowing a technician to apply the desired torque to the main valve seat when making the threaded connection. This ensures that the threaded connection is sufficiently strong. Furthermore, the torque applied can be used to adjust the axial force with which the attachment is pressed against a stop that is fixed relative to the component holder.

[0005] Based on this prior art, it is the object of the present invention to provide a nozzle of the above-mentioned type which has an improved and easier-to-manufacture threaded connection between the attachment part and the component holder.

[0006] This object is achieved with the features of the independent claims. Advantageous embodiments are specified in the subclaims. According to the invention, the component receptacle and the attachment have cooperating angular positioning elements which are designed to enable an axial approach of the thread start of the external thread to a thread entry of the internal thread in at least one predetermined relative angular position between the external thread and the internal thread before the threaded connection is produced and to prevent this in angular positions which are different from the at least one relative angular position.

[0007] First, some of the terms used in this description will be explained in more detail. The terms "axial position" and "axial approach" refer to the longitudinal axis of the threaded connection. Before the threaded connection is made, the internal thread can be brought closer to the external thread in the axial direction without the external thread having to be rotated relative to the internal thread. During the creation of the thread engagement, the external thread is rotated relative to the internal thread, which leads to a shift in the axial position of the attachment relative to the component holder.

[0008] The thread start of the external thread and the thread entry of the internal thread are the sections of the respective thread that first engage with each other when the threaded connection is properly established. By axially approaching the thread start of the external thread to the thread entry of the internal thread, the external thread and internal thread can be brought together in such a way that the threaded connection is established by a subsequent rotation of the external thread relative to the internal thread. The at least one predetermined relative angular position can in particular be formed by one or more contiguous angular ranges.

[0009] The fluid can in particular be a liquid, a gaseous or a mixed-phase fluid (which has both a liquid and a gaseous portion).

[0010] Due to the angular positioning elements, the external thread of the attachment can only be brought closer to the internal thread in certain predetermined angular positions or angular ranges in the axial direction, since in other angular positions or angular ranges the approach of the threads is prevented. This can be achieved by placing the start of the thread in a defined angular position on the rear end of the internal thread in the screw-in direction before the threaded connection is created. This has the advantage that a subsequent rotation of the external thread of the attachment relative to the internal thread of the component holder via a desired angular difference leads to a precisely defined thread engagement. In particular, the fitter can be given a specification that a predetermined screw-in angle must be maintained or a predetermined number of turns of the external thread relative to the internal thread must be carried out in order to create the threaded connection.The use of a torque wrench is therefore no longer necessary, significantly simplifying installation. It is also possible to specify different angles of rotation for the installer, depending on the prevailing installation situation (for example, depending on the dimensions of the attachment and / or the nozzle's features), in order to achieve the desired thread engagement.

[0011] Furthermore, it was recognized within the scope of the invention that the specification of a certain torque can lead to an incorrect adjustment of the axial contact force of the attachment relative to the component holder due to component tolerances, which can influence the friction between the threaded partners. However, the thread engagement and thus also the axial contact force of the attachment can be determined with high precision simply by the screw-in angle or the number of turns thanks to the angular positioning elements according to the invention.

[0012] It is possible within the scope of the invention for the angular positioning elements to extend along the axial direction of the threaded connection in such a way that the external thread is guided in a defined angular position along the axial direction of the threaded connection during the axial approach until the start of the external thread reaches the plane of the thread inlet of the internal thread. In principle, however, it is also sufficient if the angular positioning elements fix the predetermined relative angular position in a first axial position, whereby this first axial position can be exceeded by further approach, whereby free rotation can again be possible in a subsequently assumed second axial position. If the angular position is fixed at least in the first axial position of the connection partners, the fitter can maintain this angular position during the further approach.The at least one predetermined relative angular position within which an axial approach of the thread start of the external thread to a thread entrance of the internal thread is possible comprises, in one embodiment, an angular range which extends in the circumferential direction between 1° and 90°, preferably between 5° and 45°, more preferably between 10° and 30°. This angular range can be regarded as a tolerance range within which an axial approach of the connection partners is possible. The use of such a range is advantageous since the extended angular range can be found more easily by the fitter than a single, sharply defined angular position, and assembly is thereby simplified.

[0013] In one embodiment, the angular positioning elements have a projection arranged on one of the attachment part and the component holder, and a recess arranged on the other of the attachment part and the component holder, corresponding to the projection. The projection can, for example, protrude outwards from an outer surface of the attachment part, wherein the recess can be located on an inner surface of the component holder. Alternatively, the projection can also protrude inwards from an inner surface of the component holder, wherein the recess can be located on an outer surface of the attachment part. The projection preferably corresponds to the recess, and is therefore dimensioned such that it can be guided into the recess and optionally through it in the predetermined relative angular position during an axial movement of the attachment part relative to the component holder. The recess can, in particular, be formed by an interruption of the inner or outer surface of the attachment part.external thread.

[0014] In one embodiment, the recess and the projection each extend over a circumferential angular range, the circumferential angular range of the recess being greater than the circumferential angular range of the projection. These features make it possible to realize the above-mentioned extended relative angular range within which axial approach is possible. If the projection extends over a smaller circumferential angular range than the recess, the projection has a certain amount of play within the recess, so that the angular position of the external thread relative to the internal thread does not have to be aligned exactly, but only within this play, in order to place the external thread onto the internal thread in the axial direction before producing the threaded connection.

[0015] For example, the circumferential angle range of the projection can be given by an angle α, where α is less than or equal to 45°, preferably less than or equal to 30°, more preferably less than or equal to 15°. Furthermore, the circumferential angle range of the recess can be given by an angle β = α + x, where x is in a range between 1° and 30°, preferably in a range between 5° and 20°, more preferably in a range between 10° and 15°.

[0016] The angular positioning elements preferably comprise at least two projections arranged on one of the attachment part and the component receptacle and at least two recesses arranged on the other of the attachment part and the component receptacle, each corresponding to the projections. The at least two projections and recesses are preferably arranged substantially evenly distributed over the circumference of the attachment part or component receptacle. As a result of these measures, the projections can be used as a guide when the threaded partners approach each other axially, thereby reducing the risk of jamming. The threaded connection is designed with at least one thread. It can be provided that the threaded connection has two threads which are offset from one another in the circumferential direction by an angular distance, for example by 180°.In this case, it is possible for the at least one predetermined relative angular position to comprise two predetermined relative angular positions or angular ranges which are also offset from one another by this angular distance. In this case, the angular distance can be given by the distance between the centers of the angular ranges. It is also possible for the threaded connection to have three or more threads offset from one another by an angular distance, wherein the at least one predetermined relative angular position can have a corresponding number of predetermined relative angular positions or angular ranges which are also offset from one another by a corresponding angular distance. In an alternative embodiment, the number of predetermined relative angular positions or angular ranges offset from one another by an angular distance can also be independent of the number of threads.

[0017] In one embodiment, the nozzle has an automatic shut-off device which is designed to move the main valve into a closed position independently of the control device when a fluid level reaches or exceeds the outlet end of the nozzle valve. The component receptacle can additionally have a receptacle space into which the automatic shut-off device is at least partially inserted, wherein the attachment part can be designed to cover the receptacle space. Preferably, a preload of the automatic shut-off device can be adjusted by rotating the external thread of the attachment part relative to the internal thread of the component receptacle. In particular, the automatic shut-off device can have a reset element which can be preloaded by rotating the external thread of the attachment part relative to the internal thread of the component receptacle.The shut-off device can also have a membrane which is designed to be movable in the axial direction of the threaded connection for actuating the shut-off device, wherein a preload of the membrane can be adjusted by rotating the external thread of the attachment relative to the internal thread of the component holder. In the embodiment described above, the precise adjustability of the adjustment path and the contact pressure of the attachment relative to the component holder leads to the particular advantage that the preload of the shut-off device can be set particularly precisely by specifying a certain angle of rotation or a certain number of turns to the fitter when screwing in the attachment. A further advantage is that when using membranes of different thicknesses, different angles of rotation or a different number of turns can be specified in order to be able to ideally adjust the preload acting on the membrane.The functioning of an automatic shutdown device is basically known from the prior art (see for example EP 2 386 520 B1) and will therefore not be explained in more detail here.

[0018] In an alternative embodiment, the main valve has a valve seat, wherein the valve seat is connected to the attachment and wherein the component receptacle is designed to position the valve seat in the main channel. The valve seat can be connected to the attachment in one piece, by a material fit, or by any other type of connection. In this embodiment, the valve seat can be screwed into the component receptacle, wherein the axial position of the valve seat and the contact pressure of the valve seat relative to the component receptacle can be adjusted in a particularly precise manner by the positioning elements according to the invention.Within the scope of the invention it was further recognized that in the case of prior art nozzles, an unnecessarily large number of turns often occur when establishing the threaded connection between the attachment and the component holder if the start of the thread on the attachment does not immediately meet the inlet thread on the component holder. A further advantage of the angular positioning elements according to the invention is that, due to the defined engagement of the thread partners, an unnecessarily large number of relative turns can be avoided. This advantage is particularly evident in an embodiment in which a sealing element is arranged on an outer surface of the attachment. The sealing element can serve to seal the attachment from the component holder or from the area surrounding the attachment.A problem that has arisen with previously known nozzles of this type is that when the threaded connection is made or loosened, friction occurs between the sealing element and the attachment and / or the component holder and / or the area surrounding the sealing element. This friction can impair the sealing effect, particularly when the attachment is screwed in and out frequently, and make it necessary to replace the sealing element more frequently, thus increasing maintenance costs. As explained above, this friction can be significantly reduced by avoiding an unnecessarily large number of turns in the nozzle valve according to the invention.

[0019] Advantageous embodiments of the invention are explained below by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings. They show:

[0020] Figure 1: an exemplary embodiment of a nozzle according to the invention in a partially sectioned side view; Figure 2: an attachment part of the embodiment shown in Figure 1 in a three-dimensional view;

[0021] Figure 3: a component recording of the embodiment shown in Figure 1 in a three-dimensional view;

[0022] Figure 4 : a partial section of Figure 1 in an enlarged view;

[0023] Figure 5: a partial section of Figure 4 in an enlarged view;

[0024] Figure 6: a sectional view of the embodiment of Figure 1 along the line AA;

[0025] Figure 7 : a partial section of Figure 1 in an enlarged view .

[0026] Figure 1 shows a partially sectioned side view of a fuel nozzle according to the invention, which is designed to dispense a liquid fuel. The fuel nozzle comprises a housing 13, into which an outlet pipe 12 is inserted. The fuel nozzle 13 also comprises an inlet end 11 for connecting a fluid supply line and an outlet end 10 located at the downstream end of the outlet pipe 12, which outlet end can be inserted, for example, into a tank of a motor vehicle in order to fill it. A main channel 14 of the fuel nozzle runs from the inlet end 11 through the housing 13 and the outlet pipe 12 to the outlet end 10. To control the fuel flow, a main valve 20 is located within the main channel 14, which main valve can be actuated in a known manner by a control device 15, in this case a hand lever, in order to regulate the fuel flow through the fuel nozzle. An automatic shutdown device 30 is also arranged in the housing 13.This is designed in a known manner to move the main valve 20 into a closed position independently of a position of the hand lever 15 when a liquid level of the fuel reaches or exceeds the outlet end 10.

[0027] Both the main valve 20 and the automatic shut-off device 30 are positioned on the housing 13 of the nozzle valve by means of threaded connections according to the invention between an attachment provided with an external thread and a component receptacle provided with an internal thread. This will be explained in detail below.

[0028] Figure 2 shows an attachment 17, which in this case is designed as a cover of the automatic shutdown device 30, in a three-dimensional view obliquely from below. Figure 3 shows a component receptacle 16, which in this case is designed to receive the automatic shutdown device 30, in a three-dimensional view obliquely from above. The attachment 17 can be screwed into the component receptacle 16, creating a threaded connection. For this purpose, the attachment 17 comprises an external thread and the component receptacle an internal thread.

[0029] An inwardly projecting projection 21 is arranged on an inner surface 36 of the component holder 16. In addition, the attachment 17 has a recess 22 on its outer surface 37, which is formed by an interruption in the external thread. The projection 21 and the recess 22 form mutually corresponding angular positioning elements. In addition to the angular positioning elements 21, 22 visible in Figures 2 and 3, there are two further projections and two corresponding recesses which are not visible in the views of Figures 2 and 3, but are shown in Figure 6.

[0030] To create a threaded connection between the external thread and the internal thread, the start of the external thread (i.e. the part of the external thread located at the front in the screwing-in direction) must be inserted into the start of the internal thread (i.e. the part of the internal thread located at the back in the screwing-in direction). In order for the start of the thread to approach the start of the thread in the axial direction, an angular position of the projections 21 must be brought into line with an angular position of the recesses 22 so that the projections 21 can be guided through the recesses 22. The relative angular position in which this correspondence exists is also referred to as the predetermined relative angular position in the context of the present description.In other relative angular positions different from the predetermined relative angular position, the projections 21 abut against the thread elevations 40 of the external thread and cannot be moved past the thread elevations 40, so that the axial approach is prevented.

[0031] In the predetermined relative angular position, the projections 21 can be moved through the recesses so that the attachment 17 can be inserted into the component holder 16 until the beginning of the external thread abuts the end of the internal thread located at the rear in the screwing-in direction. In this predetermined relative angular position, an angular position of the thread beginning is 5° away from an angular position of the thread entry. After a corresponding rotation of the attachment 17 by 5°, the thread beginning is inserted into the thread entry. Continued rotation then leads to a defined thread engagement as well as to a defined axial adjustment path of the attachment 17 relative to the

[0032] Component holder 16 .

[0033] In the present case, the threads of the attachment 17 and the component holder 16 each have one thread pitch. In alternative embodiments, the threads can also be designed with multiple pitches. In this case, by exploiting symmetries, several predetermined relative angular positions can be present in which the thread start can be brought closer to the thread entry in the axial direction.

[0034] Figure 4 shows a section of Figure 1 in an enlarged, sectional side view. In this view, the attachment 17 is fully screwed into the component holder 16. The view in Figure 4 also shows that two sealing elements 23, which in this case are designed as O-rings 23, are arranged between the component holder 16 and the attachment 17.

[0035] The attachment 17 forms a cover of the automatic shutdown device 30. The automatic shutdown device comprises a diaphragm chamber 24 located inside or below the component holder 17, which is delimited by a diaphragm 31. The diaphragm 31 is designed to be movable in a known manner in the longitudinal direction of the threaded connection (cf. EP 2 386 520 B1) in order to actuate the shutdown device 30. The sealing rings 23 prevent liquids or gases from penetrating between the attachment 17 and the component holder 16. This seals off the diaphragm chamber 24 in particular so that a defined vacuum can be maintained there. The automatic shutdown device further comprises a diaphragm spring 32 which serves to preload the diaphragm. A preload can be set by rotating the attachment 17 relative to the component holder 16.When the attachment 17 is screwed into the component holder 16, the O-rings 23 are displaced in the longitudinal direction of the threaded connection. In addition, during screwing in, a relative rotation occurs between at least one of the connection partners 16, 17 and the O-rings 23. The resulting friction leads to wear of the O-rings. The angular positioning elements according to the invention make it possible to avoid unnecessary screwing-in movements, which occur, for example, when the fitter cannot find the thread entry straight away, and wear can thus be significantly reduced. This is particularly advantageous because the automatic shut-off device 30 must be serviced regularly, which requires loosening the threaded connection between the component holder 16 and the attachment 17.

[0036] Furthermore, thanks to the angular positioning elements 21, 22 according to the invention, it is not necessary to specify a specific torque when establishing the threaded connection. Rather, a rotation angle or a number of rotations to be performed by the fitter can be specified to establish the threaded connection. The force transmission resulting from the threaded connection as well as the axial adjustment path of the attachment 17 relative to the component holder 16 can be adjusted particularly easily and precisely in this way. This also contributes to reducing wear on the sealing rings.

[0037] Figure 5 shows a partial section of Figure 4 in an enlarged view. This view shows the recess 22 of the attachment 16, the external thread of the component holder 17, and the projection 21.

[0038] Figure 6 shows a sectional view of the nozzle along line AA shown in Figure 1. Line AA shown in Figure 1 extends through the projections 21. Accordingly, Figure 6 shows that component holder 16 has a total of three inwardly projecting projections 21, which are offset from one another by an angle yl = y2 = 120°. Likewise, it can be seen that attachment part 17 has three recesses 22 corresponding to the projections, which are formed by interruptions in the external thread.

[0039] By distributing the projections evenly in the circumferential direction, tilting of the attachment part 17 within the component holder during insertion can be prevented.

[0040] The projections 21 and recesses 22 each extend in the circumferential direction over a circumferential angle . The projection 21 positioned at the top left in Figure 6 extends over a circumferential angle of α1 = 8 ° . The recess 22 corresponding to this projection extends over a circumferential angle β1 = 13 ° . The projections 21 ' positioned at the bottom left and right in Figure 6 extend over a circumferential angle of β = 15 ° and the corresponding recesses 22 ' extend over a circumferential angle of β2 = 20 °.

[0041] Since the recesses extend over a larger circumferential angle than the projections 21, there is a certain continuous angular range of in this case approximately 5°, in which the projections 21, 21' can be guided through the respective recess 22, 22'. Due to the different circumferential angles of the projections 21 and 21' or the recesses 22 and 22', the projections 21' cannot be guided through the recess 22. In this way, there is only a single continuous predetermined relative angular range in which the projections 21 can be moved relative to the recesses 22. In an alternative embodiment, it can also be provided that the projections 21 and 21' have the same extension in the circumferential direction.To ensure that the thread partners can only be joined within a single, contiguous, predefined relative angular range, the angles yl and y2 can deviate slightly from the angle of 120° (for example, by less than 5°). This idea is, of course, also applicable to embodiments in which the number of projections and corresponding recesses is two or more than three.

[0042] Figure 7 shows a section along section CC from Figure 1 in an enlarged cross-sectional view. In this section, the main valve 20 of the nozzle according to the invention can be seen. The main valve 20 comprises a valve body 27 which, in the position shown, rests against a valve seat 28. In the present case, the valve seat 28 is connected in one piece to an attachment 17'. The attachment 17' is connected to a component receptacle 16' by a threaded connection. The threaded connection between the elements 16' and 17' is designed analogously to the threaded connection between the elements 16 and 17. In addition, the threaded connection has positioning elements according to the invention which, as described above, define a predetermined relative angular range within which an axial approach of the connection partners is possible before the threaded connection is produced.

[0043] A sealing element 23 is arranged between the component holder 16 ' and the attachment 17 ', which prevents the fluid from flowing past the outside of the attachment 17 '. The component holder 16 ' serves to position and fix the attachment 17 ' and the valve seat 28 connected to it in the main channel 14 . For maintenance purposes, the attachment 17 ' can be removed by loosening the threaded connection. Due to the angular positioning elements according to the invention and the resulting exact adjustability of the threaded connection between the component holder 16 ' and the attachment 17 ', it is ensured that the wear of the sealing element 23 is reduced and thus the sealing effect is maintained even after many maintenance processes. In addition, the magnitude of the contact force which the attachment 17 ' exerts on the component holder 16 ' can be adjusted in a particularly precise manner.
