Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a door comprising a frame or casing; at least one door leaf comprising a casement and a door panel received in the casement, wherein the door panel comprises at least one functional element whose light transmission properties can be changed at least in some areas upon application of an electrical voltage; and a control element configured to control the functional element and to apply an electrical voltage to change the light transmission properties of the at least one functional element based on a control command to the at least one functional element.
[0002] Such doors and corresponding windows with a surface element that has variable light transmission properties are known from the prior art. For example, WO 2012 / 079159 A1 describes a window with variable light transmission properties. The positioning of the control elements for such a window is not clear from WO 2012 / 079159 A1. External control elements designed as stand-alone controllers are known from prior public use. A disadvantage of such stand-alone controllers is that they cannot be integrated into the door, but must be mounted in distribution cabinets, suspended ceilings, or walls.
[0003] Accordingly, the present invention is based on the object of providing a door that at least partially overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, the assembly of the door according to the invention on the construction site should be simplified compared to the prior art.
[0004] These and other objects are achieved according to the invention by a door having the features of claim 1. Preferred embodiments of the present invention are described in the dependent claims.
[0005] According to the present invention, it was recognized that minimal installation effort on the construction site is possible if the control element for controlling the at least one functional element is at least partially accommodated in the door leaf. This makes it possible for the control element to be installed by the door manufacturer or the door panel manufacturer. This eliminates the need for installation of the control element as part of different trades on the construction site. Furthermore, no significant interventions in the existing building structure are required to install the door according to the invention because its control element, which would otherwise have to be accommodated in the building wall, in distribution cabinets or suspended ceilings, is already arranged in the door leaf.
[0006] Accordingly, the present invention lies in the provision of a door comprising (a) a frame or casing; (b) at least one door leaf comprising a casement and a door panel received in the casement, wherein the door panel comprises at least one functional element whose light transmission properties can be changed at least in some regions upon application of an electrical voltage; and (c) a control element configured to control the at least one functional element and to apply an electrical voltage to change the light transmission properties of the at least one functional element based on a control command to the at least one functional element, wherein the door is characterized according to the invention in that the control element is at least partially received in the door leaf.
[0007] As used herein, the term "door" preferably refers to a plastic door. However, metal, wooden, or composite doors are also considered. If the door is a plastic door, the frame, casing, and / or door leaf are preferably made of hollow chamber profiles, the main material of which is polyvinyl chloride (PVC), in particular rigid PVC (PVC-U) or glass fiber-reinforced PVC, which may also include post-chlorinated PVC (PVC-C), with additional additives such as stabilizers, plasticizers, pigments, and the like being added. The corresponding frames can be obtained by welding mitered pieces of such hollow chamber profiles.
[0008] With regard to the door according to the invention, it may be advantageous if the control element is completely incorporated into the door leaf. This makes it possible to install the frame or casing and the leaf frame of the door according to the invention separately at the construction site.
[0009] It can also be useful if the sash frame is formed from sections of a hollow chamber profile, wherein the control element is at least partially accommodated in a hollow chamber of the sash frame, preferably completely in a hollow chamber of the sash frame. In this case, the control element can be installed in the door according to the invention by the door manufacturer. It has proven particularly advantageous if at least one holding element of the control element rests on a rebate surface of the sash frame. This simplifies the installation of the control element in the sash frame and also allows easy access to the control element if a corresponding repair becomes necessary.
[0010] It can also be advantageous if the door panel further comprises a foam element, wherein the control element is at least partially, preferably completely, incorporated into the foam element. This allows the control element to be installed by the manufacturer of the door panels, which then only need to be inserted into the corresponding leaf frames by the door manufacturer. To ensure stable fastening of the foam moment control element, it is particularly preferred in this case if the control element is connected to the foam element by fastening means, in particular by corresponding screws. For this purpose, corresponding holes for the screws can be provided in a housing of the control element. These holes are preferably arranged approximately at right angles to the holding elements which, in preferred embodiments of the door according to the invention, are used to fasten the control element to the rebate surface of the sash frame.
[0011] Furthermore, it may also be preferred if the control element has electrical interfaces for supplying power and for processing and outputting cable-based control commands. These interfaces are preferably arranged on the same side of the control element's housing. Such electrical interfaces enable a simple power supply to the control element and permit the transmission of cable-based control commands to the control element, for example, via rocker switches. Furthermore, it may be particularly useful if the control element includes interfaces for processing wireless control commands, in particular interfaces for processing and outputting wireless control commands using the "Matter" communication standard. This is a connection standard for home automation that enables communication between smart home devices, especially those from different manufacturers and based on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Thread. Additionally or alternatively, it can be helpful if the interfaces are designed to process sensor control commands, especially sensor control commands from fingerprint sensors, temperature sensors, light sensors, humidity sensors, air quality sensors, acceleration sensors, door opening sensors, alarm spiders, glass break sensors, and intrusion sensors. This makes it possible to use the control element of the door according to the invention for other components of a smart home system and to integrate it into such a system. It can be helpful for this purpose if the control element includes sensors for generating its own control commands, in particular fingerprint sensors, temperature sensors, light sensors, humidity sensors, air quality sensors, acceleration sensors, door opening sensors, intrusion sensors. Using sound sensors or acceleration sensors, it can be possible, among other things, to detect mechanical effects on the surface element in the event of a break-in. Climate monitoring can be implemented using temperature, humidity, pressure and light quality sensors. For example, it can be useful to switch the functional elements within a control chain based on measured temperatures in order to, among other things, prevent a room from heating up too much or to enable this to happen. Using light sensors, it can be possible to automatically switch the functional elements within a control chain based on the measured incidence of light. In addition, the light sensors can be used to monitor the proper functioning and aging status of the functional elements and the entire system after installation and over its service life.
[0012] It is particularly helpful if at least one interface of the control element is designed to control at least one electrically controlled door lock.
[0013] In preferred embodiments of the door according to the invention, the control element is configured to apply an electrical voltage to the functional element to change the light transmission properties of the functional element based on a control command. This enables control of the light transmission properties of the functional element without additional external control elements.
[0014] Additionally or alternatively, it may be helpful for the control element to convert a DC voltage supplied to the control element into an AC voltage for the functional element. This enables the provision of a DC voltage in the safety extra-low voltage range and a high optical quality of the change in the light transmission properties of the functional element.
[0015] Furthermore, it can also prove useful if the control element can be contacted inductively. It can be helpful if at least one usable induction coil is incorporated in the frame or casing and another induction coil is incorporated in the sash frame, in the hollow chamber profile of the sash frame, or in the control unit. This also contributes to the ease of installation of the door according to the invention.
[0016] In further preferred embodiments of the door according to the invention, the at least one functional element can comprise at least two functional zones, the light transmission properties of which can be individually changed upon application of an electrical voltage to the functional zone. Such a design of the functional element enables partially changeable privacy properties, which can be generated by the surface element of the door according to the invention.
[0017] The surface element is preferably a composite pane element with electrically controllable light transmission properties in certain regions. Such a composite pane element preferably comprises a first pane element and a second pane element, with a gap between the first pane element and the second pane element. The functional element is then preferably arranged in the gap between the two pane elements. The functional element preferably comprises at least two functional zones, the light transmission properties of which can be individually changed when an electrical voltage is applied to the functional zone, and each functional zone comprises a contact point. The composite disc element can further comprise at least one conductor carrier which comprises at least one number of contact areas corresponding to the number of functional zones of the functional element and, for each contact area, a conductor element assigned to this contact area, wherein each contact point of the functional element is contacted by a contact area of the conductor carrier.
[0018] In the composite disc element, the contact points of the functional element can be arranged in the space between the disc elements. This protects the contact points of the functional element between the disc elements of the composite disc element, further increasing its robustness. Additionally or alternatively, at least the contact areas of the conductor carrier can be arranged in the space. On the one hand, this makes the contact points of the functional element more accessible if they are also located in the space between the disc elements, and on the other hand, it further increases the robustness of the composite disc element. Likewise, the conductor elements of the conductor carrier can have at least two electrically insulated, layered metal layers. This ensures that the conductor carrier can have a small width and can be arranged, particularly advantageously, at least partially between the pane elements to further increase the robustness of the contacts. It may also be preferred if the conductor carrier has additional contact areas with a common conducting element, which contact a further contact point of each functional element. This makes it possible to also contact the common, additionally required contact of all functional zones ("common contact") by means of the conductor carrier. A composite pane element designed in this way is then inserted into the door according to the invention in such a way that it forms the pane of a multi-pane insulating glazing unit facing the room.
[0019] The functional element is preferably designed as an SPD functional element, PDLC functional element, EC functional element, or a combination of the aforementioned functional elements. Such functional elements represent common active layers whose optical properties, such as milkiness and / or transparency, can be changed by varying a voltage applied to the functional element. In SPD functional elements, light-absorbing or light-reflecting particles, preferably with an average diameter of less than 1 µm, are suspended in a liquid in an active layer. A transparent, conductive layer (e.g., indium tin oxide, ITO) is located on both sides of the suspension. When a voltage is applied, the suspended particles align. This makes the functional element transparent.Examples of SPD (suspended particle device) functional elements include those described in EP 0 876 608 B1 and WO 2011 / 033313 A1. In a PDLC (polymer dispersed liquid crystal) functional element, liquid crystals are embedded in a polymer matrix as the active layer. On both sides of this active layer, there is a transparent, conductive layer (e.g., indium tin oxide, ITO). The liquid crystals cause a strong scattering of the light shining through the active layer, making the functional element opaque. When a voltage is applied, the liquid crystals align themselves with one another, increasing the light transmission through the functional element. The functional element becomes transparent. An EC (electrochromic device) functional element is transparent when no voltage is applied to the functional element. When a voltage is applied, the optical properties, particularly the color of the functional element, change through a reversible chemical process. The EC functional element remains transparent when a voltage is applied, but appears darker. The degree of darkening can be continuously adjusted by varying the applied voltage.
[0020] The conductor carrier can comprise a connection element arranged outside the intermediate space. This considerably simplifies the connection of the composite pane element to the control device, for example a controller. It can also prove advantageous if the connection element has a number of connection points corresponding to the number of line elements of the conductor carrier. This again contributes to easy connection of the components. The conductor carrier preferably has electronic units assigned to the contact areas, which bundle the line elements of the contact areas into a common bus-based line area. This makes it possible to significantly reduce the number of line elements routed via the conductor carrier to the connection element, as well as the number of connection points of the connection element and the number of connection points on the control device. This significantly reduces the size of all components. The conductor carrier can comprise further electronic components, in particular sensors, which are designed in particular to detect acceleration, temperature, humidity, pressure, light, turbidity, sound, air quality and the like. Using the acceleration and / or sound sensors, it can be possible, among other things, to detect mechanical effects on the composite glazing element in the event of a break-in. Using the temperature, humidity, pressure and light quality sensors, climate monitoring can be implemented. For example, it can be useful to switch the functional elements within a control chain based on measured temperatures in order to, among other things, prevent a room from becoming excessively hot or to enable this to happen. Using the light sensors, it can be possible to automatically switch the functional elements within a control chain based on the measured light incidence. In addition, it may be possible to use light and turbidity sensors to monitor the proper functioning of the functional elements and the entire system up to the controller after installation and over its service life.
[0021] In preferred embodiments, the door panel of the door according to the invention preferably comprises a pane element, which is preferably designed as insulating glazing. Preferably, one pane of the insulating glazing forms a composite pane element, which is joined to one or more other panes by one or more edge seals to form the insulating glazing. Preferably, the composite pane element forms the pane of the insulating glazing facing the room. In principle, however, it is also conceivable for the composite pane element to be used as the sole glazing element in the door according to the invention.
[0022] The pane elements are preferably made of glass, in particular float glass, quartz glass, flat glass, soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass, or clear plastics, such as polycarbonate (PC) or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The pane elements are preferably clear and transparent, but can also be tinted or colored. The pane elements preferably have a thickness of 1 mm to 5 mm. In principle, the composite pane element can have any shape, although rectangular configurations are preferred. The composite pane element is preferably substantially flat or slightly or strongly curved.
[0023] In alternative embodiments, the functional element can also be designed as a functional film laminated to a pane of the surface element, in particular the insulating glazing. For the pane onto which the functional element designed as a functional film is laminated, the pane of the insulating glazing facing the room has proven particularly advantageous. The functional film is preferably laminated to the side of the pane facing away from the room.
[0024] The functional element has electrically controllable optical properties and is preferably divided into at least two functional zones. The central component of each functional zone is an active layer, which varies depending on the type of functional element. In preferred embodiments of the present invention, the functional element is designed as a PDLC functional element. The active layer then contains unaligned liquid crystals in a polymer matrix. This results in strong scattering of the translucent light. Without an applied electrical voltage, the PDLC functional element is characterized by a white, milky appearance, which can serve, for example, as a visual barrier. If an electrical voltage is applied to the active layer, the liquid crystals align in one direction and the transmission of light through the active layer is increased. The composite pane element thus becomes transparent. On both sides of the active layer there is an electrically conductive coating that acts as a surface electrode. The electrically conductive coatings are transparent. These can preferably be layers of ITO (indium tin oxide), which are often only a few nanometers thick. Carrier films, which are preferably polymer films, in particular PET films, are applied on both sides. The thickness of the carrier films is in the range from 0.02 mm to 3 mm, preferably in the range from 0.25 mm to 1 mm. The outer sides of the functional element and thus the connection to the pane elements often form intermediate layers. The intermediate layers are preferably thermoplastic films, in particular films made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) with a thickness in the range from 0.02 mm to 3 mm, preferably in the range from 0.25 mm to 1 mm.
[0025] In alternative embodiments, the door according to the invention can comprise more than one door leaf, in particular two or three door leaves. More than one door leaf of the door according to the invention can comprise a functional element. In such embodiments, it is preferred if the control element is designed to control more than one functional element, in particular all functional elements, in such a way that their light transmission properties can be changed at least in some areas when an electrical voltage is applied. Additionally or alternatively, the door according to the invention can also be provided with one or more side parts, which are preferably accommodated in the frame or casing of the door according to the invention. One or more of the side parts can also comprise a functional element. Then it is also preferred if the control element is designed to control more than one functional element, in particular all functional elements, in such a way that its light transmission properties can be changed at least in some areas when an electrical voltage is applied.
[0026] The door according to the invention and individual parts thereof can also be manufactured line by line or layer by layer using a line-building or layer-building manufacturing process (e.g. 3D printing), but production by extrusion is preferred.
[0027] In the following, the present invention will be explained in detail with reference to the embodiments shown in the figures. The present invention will be explained in detail with reference to a door according to the invention designed as a plastic door. However, it is understood that the relevant statements also apply to other types of doors. Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a door according to an embodiment of the present invention in a front view; Figure 2 shows a schematic cross-sectional representation of a door according to an embodiment of the present invention; Figure 3 shows a perspective representation of the control element of the Fig. 1 und Fig. 2 shown door according to the invention; and Figure 4 is a schematic representation of a functional element designed as a composite pane element, which in the Fig. 1 bis Fig. 3 shown embodiment of the door according to the invention; and Figure 5 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a door according to a further embodiment of the present invention.
[0028] In Fig. 1 The basic structure of a door 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown in a schematic representation. The door 1 according to the invention is designed as a plastic door. In the Fig. 1 In the embodiment shown, the door 1 according to the invention comprises a frame 2 and a door leaf 3 which is rotatably attached to the frame 2 via rollers. The frame 2 is made of three plastic profile beams welded together in the corner area and a Fig. 1 The door leaf 3 is constructed from a threshold arranged at the bottom, which is connected to the two adjacent plastic profile members of the frame 2 via threshold holders. The door leaf 3 comprises a casement frame and a door panel 5 received in the casement frame 4. In this embodiment of the door 1 according to the invention, the door panel 5 comprises a region made of a foam material 6 (cf. Fig. 2 ), in whose opening a glazing element 7 is accommodated. Finally, the door leaf 3 comprises cover elements 8, 8', by which the leaf frame 4, the foam material and, in the edge area, also the glazing element 7 are concealed from the outside.
[0029] Fig. 2 shows a partial cross-sectional view of the Fig. 1 The door according to the invention is shown in Figure 1. It shows the door leaf 3, which is attached to the frame 2 via seals, with the leaf frame 4, which is constructed from welded sections of a hollow chamber profile. Figur 1 In the illustrated embodiment of the door 1 according to the invention, this hollow chamber profile is made of a thermoplastic polymer material, preferably polyvinyl chloride (PVC), in particular rigid PVC (PVC-U), post-chlorinated PVC (PVC-C) or glass fiber reinforced PVC, to which additives such as stabilizers, plasticizers, pigments and the like are additionally added. The hollow chamber profile is constructed from a plurality of hollow chambers, each surrounded by webs. The hollow chamber profile comprises a main hollow chamber 9 in the center, in which a reinforcing element 10, in particular a steel reinforcement, is accommodated. An upper web of the main hollow chamber 9, together with an overlap 11, forms a rebate with a rebate surface 12. The door panel 5 is held in its position in the leaf frame 4 by means of an insert and a block placed on its support surface.
[0030] By means of a corresponding milling of the rebate surface 12 and the underlying web of the reinforcing element 10, a control element 13 is introduced into the main hollow chamber 9 and is thereby completely received in the door leaf 3.
[0031] The control element 13 is in Fig. 3 shown in a perspective view. In the Fig. 3 The control element 13 comprises a housing 14, on one side of which two holding elements 15, 15' designed as holding tabs are arranged. The holding elements 15, 15' each have a pair of through-holes. Appropriate fastening means, for example screws, can be guided through these through-holes, through which the control element 13, as shown in Fig. 2 indicated, can be attached to the rebate surface 12. In such a case, the holding elements 15, 15' rest on the rebate surface 12 of the sash frame 4.
[0032] On the opposite side, the control element 13 has several electrical interfaces 16 and a receptacle 17 for inserting the power cable. This enables a simple power supply to the control element 13 as well as a simple communication option between the control element 13 and a functional element 18 and other possible components of a smart home system, in particular rocker switches, fingerprint sensors, temperature sensors, light sensors, humidity sensors, air quality sensors, acceleration sensors, door opening sensors, alarm spiders, glass breakage sensors, and intrusion sensors. The electrical interfaces are preferably arranged on one side of the housing 14.
[0033] The control element 13 is conductively connected to the functional element 18, which is designed as a laminated glass pane and in the Fig. 2 shown embodiment of the door 1 according to the invention forms the pane of the glazing element 7 designed as a triple-pane insulating glazing facing the cover element 8. In the Fig. 2 In the embodiment of the present invention shown, the functional element 18 is designed as a PDLC functional element.
[0034] An exemplary functional element 18 that can be used in the door 1 according to the invention is shown in Fig. 4 shown in a schematic representation.
[0035] In this embodiment, the functional element 18 comprises four functional zones 19, 19', 19", 19‴ and a conductor carrier 20, whereby the functional element 18 can also comprise a different number of functional zones 19, 19', 19", 19‴ in other embodiments. Each of the functional zones 19, 19', 19", 19‴ has at least one contact point at which the respective functional zone 19, 19', 19", 19‴ is electrically conductively contacted with the conductor carrier 20. The functional element 18 can be designed, for example, as an SPD functional element, PDLC functional element, EC functional element, or as a combination of the aforementioned functional elements. The conductor carrier 20 is arranged in an edge region of the functional element 18 and, in the illustrated embodiment, has four conductor elements of the conductor carrier 20, each of which is assigned a functional zone 19, 19', 19", 19‴ of the functional element 18.
[0036] The conductor elements of the conductor carrier 20 terminate in a connector 21, which in turn has a receptacle into which a connector piece of a cable 22 is received, in particular plugged in. The functional element 18 can be connected to the control element 13 via the cable 22. The control element 13 is at least partially accommodated in the main hollow chamber 9 of the sash frame 4. A conductor 23, which is connected to the functional zones 19, 19', 19", 19‴ of the functional element 13, can also be connected to the control element 13.
[0037] The control element 13 can be designed, for example, as a controller. The control element 13 is connected to an external power supply. Additionally or alternatively, the current can also be generated via induction within the control element 13 itself. For this purpose, a corresponding induction coil can be incorporated in the control element 13. The control element 13 is configured to be able to vary the light transmission properties of the surface element 11 by applying a variable voltage to the functional element 18.
[0038] In the following, the present invention will be explained with reference to a further embodiment which is shown in Fig. 5 To avoid repetition, only the differences between the various embodiments of the door according to the invention will be discussed here. Otherwise, the statements regarding the embodiment according to Fig. 1 bis Fig. 4 accordingly. Identical reference symbols represent identical elements.
[0039] In Fig. 5 A door according to a further embodiment of the present invention is shown in a schematic cross-sectional view. The door 1 according to the invention according to this embodiment differs from the door 1 according to Fig. 1 bis Fig. 4 described door 1 according to the invention only with regard to the arrangement and fastening of the control element 13.
[0040] According to this embodiment, the control element 13 is not accommodated in the main hollow chamber 9 of the leaf frame 4, but in a recess of the foam material 6 of the door panel 5. Additionally, it is connected to the foam material 6 by fastening means, preferably in the form of fastening screws. For this purpose, the corresponding fastening means are provided through through holes in the housing 14 (see FIG. Fig. 3 ). These through holes are arranged approximately at right angles to the through holes of the retaining tabs 15, 15'.
[0041] According to the two embodiments of the door according to the invention, the control element 13 is completely accommodated in the door leaf 5, namely in the embodiment according to Fig. 1 bis Fig. 4 in the main hollow chamber 9 of the sash frame 4 and in the embodiment according to Fig. 5 in the foam material 6 of the door panel 5. This results in minimal installation effort on the construction site. This allows the control element 13 to be installed directly by the door manufacturer or the door panel manufacturer and no longer needs to be performed by different trades on the construction site. Furthermore, no significant interventions in the existing building structure are required for the installation of the door 1 according to the invention. Overall, the installation effort for the door 1 according to the invention on the construction site is minimal.
[0042] The present invention has been described by way of example with reference to the embodiments of the present invention illustrated in the figures, using the example of a plastic door. It is understood that the relevant statements are also analogously applicable to other types of doors, for example, steel doors, aluminum doors, aluminum-plastic composite doors, aluminum-wood composite doors, wooden doors, wood-plastic composite doors, and the like. It is therefore understood that the present invention is not limited to this embodiment, but that the scope of the present invention arises from the claims.
