Abstract
Description
[0001]
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The invention relates to a large load carrier having the features according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0004] STATE OF THE ART
[0005] Large load carriers, also known as large containers, are known, for example, from DE 10 2008 047 857 A1. The large container described therein can be designed in standard dimensions of 800 mm x 600 mm, 1200 x 800 mm, 1200 mm x 1000 mm, or 1200 mm x 1600 mm, depending on the desired storage capacity. The height of the large load carrier is typically 1000 mm, although this can be defined relatively freely, and the optimal use of a truck's loading area usually plays a decisive role. Up to 99 such large load carriers with dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm x 1000 mm can be arranged on a standard truck, namely eleven rows of three large load carriers arranged one above the other and next to the other. For the transport of goods, stable stackability of large load carriers is extremely important.
[0006] The side walls of such large load carriers are foldable, so that in an empty transport position, a large load carrier has a height of only approximately 300 mm while maintaining the same external dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm. In the empty transport position, up to 363 such large load carriers can be transported in one truck.
[0007] EP 1 473 240 A1 discloses a large load carrier with tapered edges on the top of the side walls and feet connected by runners all the way around. The runners are offset from the feet and have a smaller footprint than the feet. In a stack, the runners and feet rest on the side wall surface. This results in a relatively slip-free position of the upper large load carrier in the stack.
[0008] US 2006 / 0260976 A1 shows a large load carrier according to the preamble of claim 1. The large load carrier has upper projections on the side walls in corner areas where the side walls meet, as well as recesses on the feet. In the stack, the feet of an upper large load carrier are placed with their recesses precisely on the upper projections of a lower large load carrier. The feet and runners otherwise rest on the side walls. This also results in a relatively slip-free position of the upper large load carrier in the stack.
[0009] WO 2017 / 205352 A1 discloses a large load carrier with recesses in the feet and corresponding projections in the upper edges of the side walls. In a stack of identical large load carriers, the runners and feet of an upper large load carrier rest on the side walls of a large load carrier arranged below them. The projections in the side walls and the grooves in the feet form a positive connection. OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0010] One object of the invention is to create a large load carrier with all-round side walls that is versatile and compatible with both lattice box pallets and Euro pallets in stacks. Furthermore, the large load carrier should be characterized by stable stackability.
[0011] DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION
[0012] The object is achieved by a large load carrier having the features of claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are characterized by the features of the subclaims.
[0013] In a plastic large load carrier according to the invention with a base part comprising a number of feet and four side walls, it is provided that the side walls have support surfaces for receiving feet of a similarly designed large load carrier in the stack, wherein the support surfaces are arranged countersunk relative to projections of the side walls and wherein the projections at least partially surround the feet of a similarly designed large load carrier in the stack on the circumference. According to the invention, a first projection at least partially surrounds a foot of the similarly designed large load carrier in the stack on the inside of the foot, and a second projection at least partially surrounds the foot of a similarly designed large load carrier in the stack on the front side of the foot.
[0014] For the purposes of the present disclosure, a "similarly designed" large load carrier is understood to mean a match in terms of external shape and geometry. The large load carrier according to the invention can also be stacked compatibly with large load carriers made of a material other than plastic, in particular with large load carriers made of metal or wood, as well as with Euro pallets and wire mesh box pallets, as described in more detail below. It is preferably provided that the first and second projections are formed in one piece, i.e. are connected to one another, in particular, for example, with an L-shaped cross-section. This improves the stability of the projections. In alternative embodiments, however, the first and second projections can also be formed in two parts.
[0015] The first and second projections are located at the top edge of the side wall.
[0016] To increase stability, the first projection preferably extends across the entire width of the side wall. Preferably, the first projection in a stack of similar large load carriers rests against the inside of the base of a large load carrier stacked on top of it, thus creating a non-slip connection between the large load carriers in the stack.
[0017] The second projection is preferably arranged flush with a side wall plane and forms a linear extension of the side wall plane on the upper side. It is particularly preferred that the second projection completely flanks the base of the large load carrier arranged thereon in the stack at the base end face.
[0018] It is preferably provided that the second projection in the stack of similar large load carriers rests against the front side of the foot of a large load carrier stacked thereon, so that a slip-free connection of the large load carriers in the stack is achieved.
[0019] It is preferred that the support surfaces be designed to transmit loads and the projections to be load-free. However, in alternative embodiments, the support surfaces and the projections can also be designed to transmit loads.
[0020] These measures enable similarly designed large load carriers to nest inside one another in a stack, thus forming a stable assembly as a transport unit. The plastic large load carrier according to the invention is preferably manufactured from individual injection-molded parts, usually from PP and / or HDPE, and comprises a base part and a number of feet attached thereto or formed integrally with the base part, for example four, eight, or nine feet. The foot area of the large load carrier can be freely designed to a certain extent within the scope of the present disclosure. For example, the large load carrier can have four corner feet or, alternatively, four corner feet and four further support feet arranged in the middle of the side walls and, additionally or alternatively, a further support foot in the middle of the base part. The feet can be firmly screwed, clipped, or formed integrally with the base part.
[0021] The base part includes, for example, flat side wall sections and a one-piece base plate.
[0022] The dimensions of the foot sections of the large load carrier preferably correspond to the standard requirements of a Euro pallet according to EN 13698-1:2003, so that the large load carrier can be handled with the same equipment, especially industrial trucks, as the Euro pallet. In various designs, the foot sections can be connected to skids, particularly to improve stability. Recesses for the forks of industrial trucks are provided between the base section and the skids. The skids can be firmly screwed to the feet, clipped together, or formed as a single piece.
[0023] On the underside, this results in a pallet-like structure of the large load carrier, which can comprise nine feet and three feet each along the long side of the large load carrier connecting runners, in particular in accordance with the Euro pallet standardized according to EN 13698-1:2003.
[0024] The large load carrier preferably has two shorter side walls, which are referred to as transverse side walls in the context of the present disclosure, and two longer side walls, which are referred to as longitudinal side walls in the context of the present disclosure. In this sense, a distinction is also made below between a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction in the large load carrier. The four side walls of the large load carrier are hinged to the base part in a foldable manner, for example by means of hinge elements. The present invention also encompasses rigid embodiments of large load carriers with non-foldable side walls, including, for example, integrally formed circumferential side walls.
[0025] Furthermore, in preferred embodiments, the side walls have foldable or removable side sections within one side wall, as in a lattice box pallet. For example, one or both long side walls can be equipped with side wall flaps that can be folded outward over the lower side wall section. In the unfolded position, the large load carrier allows access to the contents from the outside, even in the stack and with the lid closed. The design of the flaps in the side walls can be, for example, as described in DE 10 2017 113 053 A1.
[0026] The upper edges of the long side walls form part of the support surfaces, whereby the large load carrier is designed to accommodate the feet of a similarly designed large load carrier in the stack.
[0027] The transverse side walls include the projections.
[0028] The support surfaces are preferably designed to accommodate pallets with standard dimensions, in particular Euro pallets standardized according to EN 13698-1 with dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm. Accordingly, the support surfaces in the area of the upper edges of the side walls have at least the standard size, in particular 1200 mm x 800 mm. The feet of the large load carrier preferably also form a standard size, in particular 1200 mm x 800 mm.
[0029] The corner feet of the large load carrier can have installation dimensions approximately the standard size of a Euro pallet, i.e., a width of 100 mm in the transverse direction and a width of 145 mm in the longitudinal direction. However, the width of the feet in the longitudinal direction can also be less than or greater than 145 mm, in particular from 60 mm to 250 mm, preferably from 120 mm to 220 mm. Likewise, the width of the feet in the transverse direction can be greater than or less than 100 mm, in particular from 60 mm to 120 mm, preferably from 90 to 105 mm. In advantageous embodiments, the width of the feet in the transverse direction is at least 100 mm.
[0030] The first projection is arranged at least far enough away from the long side wall of the large load carrier to surround both the feet of the large load carrier placed thereon and, alternatively, the feet of the Euro pallet on the inside of the feet.
[0031] The base part has outwardly tapered shoulders in the longitudinal direction, resulting in an upper region of the large load carrier with a larger cross-section and a lower region of the large load carrier with a smaller cross-section. In the present disclosure, the terms "cross-section" or "cross-sectional area" always refer to a reference plane that is parallel to the support surface of the large load carrier and which is generally also parallel to a floor surface in the interior of the large load carrier.
[0032] The steps on the base part are preferably formed on the sides of the two shorter side walls. The steps are preferably between 10 and 20 mm in size, particularly preferably approximately 15 mm. For example, the large load carrier can have an external dimension of 1230 mm x 800 mm in the upper region, although this is not limiting for the invention. This breaks the Euro pallet installation dimension of 1200 mm x 800 mm specified by the EN 13698-1 standard in the longitudinal direction in the upper region of the large load carrier.
[0033] Particularly preferably, the external and internal dimensions of the large load carrier are compatible with the external and internal dimensions of a mesh pallet standardized according to DIN 15155 / 8-UIC435-3, so that in a mixed stack of large load carriers and mesh pallets, the large load carriers and mesh pallets can nest inside each other. Accordingly, it is preferred that the feet of the large load carrier have a setup dimension that is the standard size of the feet of the mesh pallet. The 9th edition of DIN 15155 / 8-UIC435-3 is cited in September 2008. The mesh pallets have a pallet base with external dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm in the foot area, as well as four rigidly interconnected steel mesh walls with external dimensions of 1240 mm x 835 mm. For wire mesh pallets, the internal dimensions are also standardized, with a loading length typically corresponding to 1210 mm and a loading width typically corresponding to 800 mm.The lattice box pallets dimensioned in this way can be stacked on top of each other in a nestable manner, so that a stable connection is achieved in the stack.
[0034] Since the standardized lattice box pallets have dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm in the base area and 1240 mm x 835 mm in the upper side wall area, with an internal dimension of 1200 mm x 800 mm, the large load carrier can be stacked on top of a lattice box pallet. Conversely, the lattice box pallet can also be stacked on top of the large load carrier, since the lattice box pallet has feet with the standard installation dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm. The features of the invention therefore enable stable mixed stacking of lattice box pallets and large load carriers.
[0035] Since the standardized wire mesh pallet often has a steel rod on the underside, with individual steel struts forming the support surface, it is preferably provided that a recess is provided between the support surfaces and the second projection, which recess is designed in particular to receive individual steel struts of a rod on the underside of the wire mesh pallet.
[0036] It is preferably provided that the support surface has a material-reinforced region for receiving a corner foot. It is particularly preferred that the recess, if present, between the support surfaces and the second projection also has a material-reinforced region for receiving the rods of the wire mesh box pallet, which is in particular formed integrally with the material-reinforced region for receiving the corner foot. The material-reinforced region can, for example, be a molded steel part that is fastened to the large load carrier, which is otherwise made of plastic. The connection between the steel-reinforced region and the plastic of the large load carrier is preferably positively connected, in particular via a locking mechanism. The reinforced support surface region is preferably at least partially enclosed by the projections. In this way, a stacking of lattice box pallets on the large load carrier is realized, which does not wear out even under constant use.
[0037] The projections can taper upwards in their cross-sectional profile, whereby the projections can be beveled relative to the side wall plane, particularly toward the interior of the large load carrier. This provides a stacking aid when nesting similarly designed large load carriers, a Euro pallet, or a mesh box pallet into a large load carrier.
[0038] In the case of foldable side walls, the base section can have the same stacking characteristics on the top as the unfolded side walls, in particular the same type of support surfaces and projections. Advantageously, the large load carrier can be safely stacked when empty when folded, especially when mixed with mesh box pallets and Euro pallets.
[0039] Further aspects of the invention relate to arrangements with two or more previously described large load carriers stacked on top of each other, as well as mixed stacks of the described large load carriers with lattice box pallets and / or Euro pallets.
[0040] The large load carrier according to the invention is particularly suitable for holding piece goods such as large-volume food products, as well as in the non-food industry, e.g., the automotive industry. Compared to conventional fruit and vegetable containers, the large load carrier is thicker and also heavier overall, so that the filled large load carriers are usually transported mechanically, particularly by forklifts or the like.

[0052] EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[0053] In the following, identical elements are provided with identical reference numerals. A repeated description of identical elements in the individual figures is not provided. Fig. 1 shows a large load carrier 2 according to one embodiment of the invention.
[0054] The large load carrier 2 comprises two first side walls 4 and two second side walls 6, wherein the first side walls 4 form transverse sides of the large load carrier 2 and the second side walls 6 form longitudinal sides of the large load carrier 2.
[0055] The second side walls 6 each contain side wall flaps 8, which are hinged to the second side walls 6 via hinge devices 10, purely by way of example. A side wall flap 8 can be opened manually via a locking and adjusting mechanism and a handle opening 18, allowing access to the interior of the large load carrier 2 from the outside. In embodiments not shown, removable side wall flaps 8 can be provided.
[0056] The side walls 4, 6 are essentially closed-walled on the outside and inside, although this is not limiting for the invention. The side walls 4, 6 can also have an open rib structure, particularly on the outside and / or inside, as is known in the prior art.
[0057] Fig. 1 thus shows a closed state of the large load carrier 2, with the side walls 4, 6 in particular being raised and interlocked by means of a locking mechanism 16 (not described in detail). The side wall flap 8 is shown here in the closed state.
[0058] Fig. 2 and 3 show the large load carrier 2 from Fig. 1 in the respective side views of the transverse side and the longitudinal side.
[0059] In the lower area, the large load carrier 2 has feet 20, namely in the illustrated embodiment purely by way of example four feet 20 arranged at the corners, whereby this is not limiting for the invention.
[0060] The feet 20 are attached to a surrounding base part 14, for example, by screwing or clipping. The side walls 4, 6 are arranged on the base part 14 in a foldable manner by means of additional hinge devices, whereby complete collapsibility is achieved by varying the height of the base part 14 in the area of the hinges.
[0061] The base part 14 comprises four circumferential side walls, which extend upward perpendicular to a support surface of the large load carrier 2 formed by the underside of the feet 20. The base part 14 also comprises an inner base surface (not shown), which may be formed with a closed wall or have a ribbed structure.
[0062] The base part 14 has a frontal shoulder 42 below the first side wall 4, which, for example, but not restrictively for the invention, can be approximately 15 mm in size. Due to the shoulder 42, the cross-section of the large load carrier 2 is larger at the top than the standard size of 1200 mm x 800 mm for a Euro pallet, as explained in more detail with reference to Figure 3.
[0063] In the illustrated embodiment, which is not limiting for the invention, the large load carrier 2 comprises four feet 20 on the corner sides, as well as a further foot 20 on the middle of each side surface, i.e. a total of eight or nine feet 20, depending on whether a further foot 20 is provided in the middle of the interior of the large load carrier. The feet 20 on the second side wall 6 are connected to one another by means of runners 26. The runners 26 extend over the entire length of the second side wall 6. The runners 26 are arranged coplanar with the feet 20 of the large load carrier 2 by way of example but not limiting for the invention. In embodiments not shown, the runners 26 can have indentations and the like, which is known to those skilled in the art.
[0064] The runners 26 and the feet 20 form recesses 28 for tines of an industrial truck between them in a known manner, so that the large load carrier 2 as a whole has a pallet-like substructure.
[0065] The break in the module dimension in the longitudinal direction is clearly visible in Fig. 3. The shoulder 42 is formed here in the longitudinal dimension of the large load carrier 2, in both directions. The shoulder 42 in the base part 14 results in an upper region 44 of the large load carrier with an enlarged cross-sectional area and a lower region 46 of the large load carrier 2 with a reduced cross-sectional area. The reduced cross-sectional area here corresponds, for example, and preferably, to the Euro pallet module dimension of 1200 mm x 800 mm. The enlarged cross-sectional area in the upper region 44 is, for example, but not limiting for the invention, 1230 mm x 800 mm.
[0066] The feet 20 in the corner area of the large load carrier 2 are assigned a foot inner side 22 and a foot end face 24. In the illustrated and preferred embodiment, the foot end face 24 is coplanar with the side wall plane 12 of the first side wall 4, but offset inwardly parallel due to the shoulder 42.
[0067] The front side 24 of the foot can be approximately 105 mm wide. The inner side 22 of the foot can be approximately 220 mm wide.
[0068] Fig. 1 also shows the support surface 36, which is surrounded by projections 30. The projections 30 form elevations of the side walls 4, 6. The projections 30 and the support surface 36 are discussed in more detail below in Figs. 4 to 9.
[0069] Fig. 2 shows the foot end face 24 and the foot inner face 22. The width of the foot end face 24 is coordinated with the support surface 36 and the projections 30 surrounding the support surface 36, so that the foot can come to rest on the support surface 36 and can be at least partially surrounded by the projections 30.
[0070] Fig. 4 shows a perspective view of a corner area of the large load carrier 2 from Fig. 1. Fig. 5 shows a further perspective from a different angle of the corner area from Fig. 4. Fig. 6 shows a view of the corner area from Fig. 4 from the perspective of the inside of the large load carrier 2.
[0071] The first projections 30 comprise, as shown in Fig. 4 to 6, a first projection 32 which at least partially surrounds the foot 20 of a similarly designed large load carrier 2 in the stack on the inside 22 of the foot and a second projection 34 which at least partially surrounds the foot of a similarly designed large load carrier 2 in the stack on the front 24 of the foot.
[0072] The first projection 32 extends substantially over the width of the side wall 4, but this is not limiting for the invention.
[0073] The second projection 34 extends from the corner of the large load carrier 2 over an area such that the first projection 32 can surround the inside of the base of a second large load carrier 2 positioned above it in the stack. The second projection 34 is arranged coplanar with the side wall plane 12 of the first side wall 4.
[0074] In the illustrated embodiment, the first and second projections 32, 34 are integrally connected to one another, but this is not limiting the invention. In cross-section, the first and second projections 32, 34 are particularly L-shaped, which is also not limiting the invention.
[0075] The support area 36 comprises, as shown in Fig. 6, a material-reinforced area 38, for example, in the form of a molded steel part. The material-reinforced area 38 is clipped onto the first side wall 4, for example. The material-reinforced area 38 will be discussed in more detail with reference to Fig. 7.
[0076] The first and second projections 32, 34 taper upwards in the cross-sectional profile and are bevelled in particular with respect to the side wall plane 12.
[0077] As shown in Fig. 7, two similarly designed large load carriers 2 according to Fig. 1 can be nested within one another in a stack. The feet 20 of a large load carrier 2 arranged at the top are partially recessed into the interior of the large load carrier 2 arranged at the bottom.
[0078] Fig. 7 shows a cross-sectional view of a contact area between the two stacked large load carriers 2. The base 20 of the upper large load carrier 2 is placed on a support surface 36 of the lower large load carrier 2. For this purpose, the side wall 4 comprises the support surface 36 on top with the adjoining second projection 34, which flanks the base 20 of a large load carrier 2 placed on top. This prevents the large load carriers 2 from slipping in the stack. As can be seen, the support surface 36 is load-bearing in the stack, while the second projection 34 is load-free.
[0079] Fig. 7 also shows the material-reinforced region 38, which extends over a third projection 48 formed on the inside of the first side wall 4 and a recess 40. An upper region of the material-reinforced region 38 forms part of the support surface 36. The function of the recess 40 is particularly evident with reference to Fig. 9.
[0080] Fig. 8 shows a stacking of a Euro pallet 50 on the large load carrier 2. By coordinating the external dimensions of the feet 20 of the large load carrier 2 with the dimensions of the Euro pallet 50 and correspondingly coordinating the installation surface 36, a mixed stacking of large load carriers 2 and Euro pallets 50 is possible.
[0081] A corner foot 52 of the Euro pallet 50 is surrounded at the front by the second projection 34. The battens 54, which form the underside runners of the Euro pallet 50, rest on the support surface 36, in particular on a section of the material-reinforced area 38.
[0082] Fig. 9 shows a stacking of a large load carrier 2 with a lattice box pallet 60, with the base 20 of the large load carrier 2 resting on a corresponding support surface 36. Because the lattice box pallet 60 is standardized, stable stacking in a mixed stack with the large load carrier 2 can be achieved.
[0083] The lattice box pallet 60 comprises a base surface 62, which generally and preferably does not rest on the large load carrier 2. Rather, a rod assembly 64 of the lattice box pallet 60 forms the setup area of the lattice box pallet 60. A rod assembly 64 provided on the edge is designed to be received in the recess 42. Another part of the rod assembly 64 rests on the material-reinforced area 38, which extends over the third projection 48. A further section of the material-reinforced area 38 is located in the recess 40. The contact surfaces between the large load carrier 2 and the lattice box pallet 60 are preferably formed entirely by the material-reinforced area 38, so that in practice no wear of the large load carrier 2 occurs when the lattice box pallet 60 is set up.
[0084] As shown, for example, in Figure 1, the base part 14, in advantageous embodiments, also has a support surface and projections on the top side, which can be designed and dimensioned in the same way as the support surface 36 and the projections 30 of the unfolded side walls 4, 6. For a further large load carrier 2 placed on top of the large load carrier 2, a Euro pallet 50 placed on top, or a lattice box pallet 60 placed on top, the same surface results whether the side walls 4, 6 are unfolded or folded.
[0085] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described here. Rather, numerous modifications are possible within the scope of expert knowledge.

8. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in the stack of similarly designed large load carriers (2) the support surfaces (36) are load-bearing and the projections (32, 34) are load-free.
9. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support surfaces (36) are designed to accommodate pallets with standard dimensions and the feet (20) of the large load carrier (2) also form a standard dimension, in particular to accommodate a Euro pallet (50) standardized according to EN13698-1 with dimensions of 1200 mm x 800 mm.
10. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the outer and inner dimensions of the large load carrier (2) are compatible with the outer and inner dimensions of a wire mesh pallet (52) standardized according to DIN 15155 / 8-UIC435-3, so that nesting of the large load carriers (2) and wire mesh pallets (52) is possible in the stack of large load carriers (2) and wire mesh pallets (52).
11. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the projections (32, 34) taper upwards in the cross-sectional profile, wherein the projections (32, 34) are in particular chamfered relative to a side wall plane (12).
12. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the side walls (4, 6) can be folded together by means of hinge devices (10).
13. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that some or all feet (20) are connected to each other by means of skids (26).
14. Large load carrier (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the bottom part (14) has further support surfaces and further projections on its upper side, which are designed and arranged like the support surfaces (36) and projections (30) of the side walls (4,6).
15. Arrangement comprising at least two similarly designed large load carriers (2) according to one of the preceding claims stacked on top of each other. 19 CORRECTED SHEET (RULE 91) ISA / EP
