Description

[0001] Title of the invention ■ Transport and / or storage module

[0002] The present invention relates to the field of transport and / or storage of goods within a motor vehicle, for example utility vehicles, and more particularly relates to transport and / or storage modules integrated within said vehicles.

[0003] Utility vehicles are designed to transport and / or store goods in large quantities and in the most compact way possible. To optimize transport and / or storage depending on the type of goods, there are transport and / or storage modules with a reduced loading volume but with a practical aspect in that these modules can be stacked on a vehicle trailer.

[0004] These modules can be opened using a tilting opening, similar to the trunk of a motor vehicle. The opening can therefore be open or closed, an open position allowing goods to be placed in the module or removed from the module, while a closed position allows the goods to be secured during transport and / or storage of the goods. Such modules include at least one balancer capable of retaining the opening when it is in the open position. The balancer must therefore exert sufficient force to maintain the opening in the open position but without this force being so high as to make it difficult to close the opening.

[0005] It is known to arrange such a balancer so that it rests on the walls delimiting the entrance. Such positioning requires the implementation of gutters along the entrance of the module, so that the balancer can rest on the module and establish a connection with the opening. However, the presence of these gutters reduces the size of the loading volume of the module as well as the size of the entrance, which may prevent the arrangement of certain goods within the loading volume of the module whereas these could have been arranged in the module in the absence of the gutters.

[0006] The present invention improves said loading volume of these modules, by proposing a transport and / or storage module comprising a set of walls delimiting a loading volume and an entrance, the set of walls comprising at least two side walls and an upper wall connecting the two side walls together, the two side walls and the upper wall at least partially delimiting the entrance, the transport and / or storage module comprising at least one opening capable of closing the entrance and an articulation device comprising at least one balancer and a hinge, the articulation device being capable of moving the opening between an open position and a closed position, characterized in that the balancer and the hinge are arranged along one side of the upper wall, said side participating in the delimitation of the entrance.

[0007] With such a transport and / or storage module, the balancer and the hinge are entirely arranged between the opening and the upper wall. This configuration avoids an extension of the balancer to one of the side walls, involving the installation of a gutter resulting in the reduction of the size of the entrance and a limitation of the loading volume. In addition, the gain in size of the entrance potentially makes it possible to dispose of bulky goods which might not have been able to pass through the entrance if the module is equipped with a gutter.

[0008] The set of walls preferably forms a cubic or parallelepiped loading volume. This shape makes it possible, on the one hand, to facilitate the deposit or retrieval of goods contained in the transport and / or storage module, and on the other hand, it can make it easy to arrange several transport and / or storage modules within the same space, for example by stacking them. In addition to the side walls and the top wall, the transport and / or storage module therefore advantageously comprises a lower wall parallel or substantially parallel to the top wall, as well as a back wall oriented opposite the entrance. The latter is preferably vertical in order to facilitate access to the loading volume for users of the transport and / or storage module.

[0009] The opening swings open by manual action from a user of the transport and / or storage module. Such an opening can, for example, be closed by manually pushing against the entrance. In the closed position, the opening therefore closes the entrance and thus keeps the goods in the loading volume. The transport and / or storage module may optionally be equipped with a locking means preventing its opening, for example a key / lock assembly. Furthermore, the opening is equipped with a handle allowing it to be tilted into the open position, thus providing access to the loading volume.

[0010] The articulation device, in particular the balancer and the hinge, ensures that the opening leaf can swing between the open position and the closed position. The articulation is achieved by pivoting around a rotation axis located in the vicinity of the articulation device. The balancer is configured to comply with the standards relating to this type of opening leaf, i.e. it must have a restoring force ensuring that it remains in the open position when no manual force is applied to the opening leaf, but said restoring force must be moderate so that the manual pressure that must be exerted on the opening leaf to close it is as little intense as possible.

[0011] When the sash is moved by manual pressure, the hinge is driven by the sash, and this in turn drives the balancer. When no manual pressure is exerted by the sash and it is neither in the open nor closed position, the balancer drives the hinge, which in turn drives the sash so that it swings into the open position.

[0012] The hinge device is arranged along the side of the upper wall in order to be as close as possible to the entrance, in order to limit mechanical interference between the upper wall and the opening. The entire hinge device is therefore arranged between the side of the upper wall and the opening.

[0013] According to a characteristic of the invention, the articulation device comprises a support secured to the upper wall, a first end of the balancer being connected to said support. In other words, the support constitutes a fixed part of the articulation device. The support corresponds to a part secured to the upper wall, said part being secured using any fixing means. The first end of the balancer, depending on the movement of the opening, is set in motion but while maintaining the connection with the support.

[0014] According to a characteristic of the invention, the hinge comprises a first portion secured to the upper wall and a second portion secured to the opening leaf, the first portion and the second portion being connected to each other by a pivot connection, a second end of the balancer being connected to the second portion of said hinge. The first portion constitutes a fixed part of the hinge while the second portion constitutes the movable part. When the opening leaf or the balancer is set in motion, the second portion of the hinge pivots around the pivot connection and moves towards or away from the first portion depending on the movement of the opening leaf. The second end of the balancer is made integral with the second portion of the hinge, in other words the movable portion. The balancer therefore extends between the support and the second portion of the hinge.

[0015] According to a feature of the invention, the second portion of the hinge comprises a tab oriented opposite the support, the second end of the balancer being connected to said tab. The tab ensures better orientation of the second end of the balancer relative to the first end. When the opening is set in motion, the tab is also set in motion and its orientation simplifies the movement of the balancer and prevents potential breakage of the balancer due to excessive mechanical tension and at an undesired angle. The orientation of the tab also makes it possible to limit the manual force required to close the opening.

[0016] The second portion is thus divided into a flank parallel to an axis of rotation of the hinge pivot connection, and the tab extends from the flank, along a plane between 105 and 110 degrees relative to a plane in which the flank is inscribed.

[0017] According to a feature of the invention, the balancer is configured to be parallel to the upper wall when the opening leaf is in the closed position. Closing the opening leaf causes the second portion of the hinge to move closer to the first portion and the upper wall. Such a movement also moves the second end of the balancer closer to the upper wall, while the first end is constantly kept in the vicinity of the upper wall by its connection with the support. Thus, when the opening leaf is in the closed position, the two ends of the balancer are substantially at the level of the upper wall.

[0018] The balancer is therefore parallel or substantially parallel to said upper wall.

[0019] According to a feature of the invention, the articulation device comprises a first balancer, a second balancer, a first hinge and a second hinge. Having two balancers and two hinges makes it possible to distribute the forces exerted by the balancers on the opening and by the opening on the balancers in the event of manual pressure on the opening. The latter is thus more stable and the articulation device more mechanically resistant.

[0020] According to a feature of the invention, the support is secured to the vicinity of the center of the side of the upper wall, the first end of the first balancer and the first end of the second balancer being connected to the support. The support thus constitutes a central section of the articulation device and the balancers extend from their respective first end in an opposite manner relative to each other.

[0021] According to a characteristic of the invention, the first portion of the first hinge and the first portion of the second hinge are integral with the side of the upper wall, on either side of the support, the second end of the first balancer being connected to the second portion of the first hinge, the second end of the second balancer being connected to the second portion of the second hinge. The articulation device therefore has axial symmetry along a plane perpendicular to the upper wall. It is this axial symmetry which helps to balance the various mechanical forces mentioned above and which stabilizes the movements of the opening relative to the articulation device. According to a characteristic of the invention, at least one end of the balancer comprises a ball joint. The ball joint guarantees a degree of freedom of the end of the balancer relative to the part to which said end is connected. The ball joint thus prevents any blocking of the balancer at its end(s) but nevertheless allows the movement of the balancer participating in the opening or closing of the opening. According to a characteristic of the invention, the ball joint comprises a body at least partly enclosing a ball, said body constituting one end of the balancer, said ball being integral with the support or the hinge. The body has a peripheral shape similar to the ball, the diameter of the latter being substantially smaller than the diameter of the body. The ball can thus be inserted within the body. The body can thus perform rotational movements around the ball but is limited by the latter in terms of translational movement. The ball can be molded on the support, just as the body can be directly formed on the end of the balancer. The latter can therefore adapt its rotational movement in relation to the movement of the opening, despite the fixed position of the support or the movement of the hinge.

[0022] According to a feature of the invention, the balancer is a jack, said jack being configured to be deployed when the opening leaf is in the open position and to be retracted when the opening leaf is in the closed position. The choice of jack is particularly advantageous in the sense that a jack may have a return mechanism capable of moving the opening leaf into the open position or maintaining the latter in the open position. Thus, when the opening leaf is not subjected to any force, the jack deploys and thus lifts the opening leaf. When the opening leaf is closed by manual pressure, the jack retracts until the opening leaf is completely in the closed position, the latter maintaining the jack retracted.

[0023] According to a characteristic of the invention, the side of the upper wall delimits a recess, the articulation device being at least partly housed in the recess. Such a recess forms a housing allowing the articulation device to be placed at the level of the upper wall without creating mechanical interference with the opening. The recess is implemented along the entire side of the upper wall.

[0024] According to a characteristic of the invention, the opening comprises a rim configured to interact by shape complementarity with the recess of the upper wall, the second portion of the hinge being integral with said rim of the opening. In other words, the opening has an L shape, the main surface of the L closing the entrance in the closed position and the transverse surface of the L, corresponding to the rim, covering the articulation device in the closed position in order to protect the latter. The second portion of the hinge is integral with this rim, which makes it possible, when the opening is in the closed position, to keep the entire articulation device between the upper wall and the rim.

[0025] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description on the one hand, and from several examples of embodiment given for informational and non-limiting purposes with reference to the attached schematic drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0026] [fig i] is a general view of a transport and / or storage module according to the invention,

[0027] [fig 2] is a detailed view of a hinge device of the transport and / or storage module when an opening of the latter is in the open position,

[0028] [fig 3] is a diagram describing the movement of different parts of the hinge device when the opening swings from the open position to a closed position,

[0029] [fig 4] is a detailed view of the articulation device of the transport and / or storage module when the latter's opening is in the closed position.

[0030] Figure 1 is a general view of a transport and / or storage module 1 according to the invention. Such a transport and / or storage module 1 can be arranged within a vehicle, for example a utility vehicle. The transport and / or storage module 1 advantageously has a cubic or parallelepiped shape, so that several modules of this type can be stacked on top of each other in order to optimize a vehicle's capacity.

[0031] The transport and / or storage module i comprises a set of walls delimiting a loading volume 2 intended to contain goods within said module. The latter being of cubic or parallelepiped shape, the set of walls generally comprises five walls. More particularly, the set of walls comprises a first side wall 3 and a second side wall 4 which are parallel or substantially parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground on which the transport and / or storage module 1 rests. The two side walls 3, 4 are connected to each other by an upper wall 5, perpendicular to the side walls 3, 4 and parallel to the ground. The transport and / or storage module 1 of FIG. 1 further comprises a lower wall 6 parallel to the upper wall 5 and a bottom wall 7 connecting all of the previously mentioned walls together.

[0032] With the exception of the bottom wall 7, each wall of the set of walls helps to form an entrance 8 of the transport and / or storage module 1. It is through this entrance 8 that the goods to be transported and / or stored within the transport and / or storage module 1 are introduced or removed. This entrance 8 can be closed using an opening 9 in order to protect the transported and / or stored goods from falling or theft. The opening 9 opens using a handle 10 and closes by pushing the opening 9 against the entrance 8. The transport and / or storage module 1 can be equipped with a seal 11 extending around a circumference of the entrance 8. The seal 11 makes it possible to cushion the closing of the opening 9 against the entrance 8 and also plays a sealing role. The opening 9 also comprises a locking means 12 which holds the opening 9 in a closed position. The locking means 12 unlocks the opening 9 when the handle 10 is actuated. When the opening 9 is in a closed position, it may possibly be locked, for example using a key / lock assembly. The opening 9 is therefore able to be set in motion so that its position can vary between an open position and the closed position mentioned above. The transport and / or storage module 1 therefore comprises a hinge device 13 providing a connection with the opening 9 and pivoting it between the open position and the closed position. The hinge device 13 comprises at least one balancer 14, which may for example be in the form of a jack, and a hinge 15 mechanically interacting with the balancer 14. The hinge device 13 complies with the regulations applied to motor vehicles, that is to say that the balancer 14 has a sufficient restoring force to maintain the opening 9 in the open position without external assistance.According to this same regulation, said restoring force must not be too intense so that any person can close the opening 9 against the entrance 8 without having to exert a significant effort.

[0033] The advantage of the transport and / or storage module 1 according to the invention is that the articulation device 13, particularly the balancer 14 and the hinge 15 are arranged specifically at the level of the upper wall 5. The articulation device 13 thus specifically establishes a connection between the opening 9 and the upper wall 5. This avoids arranging the balancer 14 in such a way that the latter bears against at least one of the side walls 3, 4, requiring the installation of a gutter along at least one of the side walls 3, 4. The gutter has the disadvantage of increasing a thickness of at least one side wall 3, 4 and thus reducing the surface area of the entrance 8 of the transport and / or storage module 1. The loading volume 2 is then limited, and the entrance 8 can be reduced to the point of preventing the placement of bulky goods within the loading volume. loading 2.

[0034] The configuration of the articulation device 13 according to the invention makes it possible to dispense with a gutter at one and / or other of the side walls 3, 4 and thus to keep the entrance 8 as large as possible in order to maximize the loading volume 2 and to facilitate the placement and removal of goods from the transport and / or storage module 1. More specifically, at least the balancer 14 and the hinge 15 are arranged at one side 16 of the upper wall 5. The side 16 corresponds to the side of the upper wall 5 participating in delimiting the entrance 8. The arrangement of the level of the side 16 brings the articulation device 13 closer to the entrance 8 which facilitates the mechanical connection between the upper wall 5 and the opening 9.

[0035] In order to be able to arrange the articulation device 13 at the level of the upper wall 5, the side 16 delimits a recess 17 freeing up space for the articulation device 13. This recess 17 allows the arrangement in particular of the balancer 14 and the hinge 15 without them coming up against the opening 9 when the latter must be closed.

[0036] In order to protect the recess 17, and the articulation device 13 which is arranged within the latter, the opening 9 comprises a rim 18 which has a different orientation relative to a main dimension of the opening 9. As illustrated in FIG. 1, when the opening 9 is in the open position, the rim 18 is substantially perpendicular to the upper wall 5 while the opening 9 extends mainly in a direction substantially parallel to the upper wall 5. Thus, when the opening 9 closes on the entrance 8, the rim 18 is then positioned opposite the articulation device 13 and completely covers the latter. The articulation device 13 is then interposed between the side 16 and the rim 18.

[0037] Figure 2 is a detailed representation of the articulation device 13 when the opening 9 is in the open position. According to the example of Figure 2, the articulation device 13 comprises a first balancer 14a and a second balancer 14b in the form of jacks. The latter are deployed when the opening 9 is in the open position. The articulation device 13 further comprises a first hinge 15a and a second hinge 15b, interacting respectively with the first balancer 14a and the second balancer 14b.

[0038] The articulation device 13 also comprises a support 19 secured to the side 16. The support 19 may, for example, correspond to a bent part secured on the one hand to the side 16 and connected on the other hand to each of the balancers 14. The support 19 constitutes a fixed part of the articulation device 13 and may, for example, be secured to the side 16 by screwing.

[0039] Each balancer 14 comprises a first end 20 connected to the support 19 and a second end 21 connected to one of the hinges 15 of the articulation device 13. Preferably, the support 19 is arranged in the vicinity of the center of the side 16 of the upper wall in order to guarantee the balance of the articulation device 13 and the most uniform movement possible of the opening 9. Each of the balancers 14 extends from the support 19 and on either side thereof.

[0040] The two hinges 15 are arranged on either side of the support 19. Each hinge 15 comprises a first portion 22 secured to the side 16 and which constitutes the fixed portion of said hinges 15, and a second portion 23 secured to the opening 9, more precisely to the edge 18 of the opening 9. The first portion 22 and the second portion 23 are linked together by a pivot connection 24, which allows movement of the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 relative to the first portion 22 of this same hinge 15. Each second end 21 of the balancers 14 is linked to a second portion 23 of the hinges 15. In Figure 2, only the first hinge 15a is referenced, but the second hinge 15b is structurally identical to the first hinge 15a and therefore comprises a first portion 22, a second portion 23 and a pivot connection 24 linking the two portions 22, 23.

[0041] The second portion 23 of each hinge is divided into a flank 25 and a tab 26. The flank 25 constitutes the part secured to the rim 18 of the opening 9 and is parallel or substantially parallel to the axis of the pivot connection 24. The tab 26 constitutes the part where the second end 21 of the balancer 14 interacting with the hinge 15 in question is connected. In order to smooth the movement of the articulation device 13 when the opening 9 is being opened or closed, the tab 26 is preferably oriented towards the support 19. More precisely, the tab 26 extends along a plane of between 105 and 110 degrees relative to a plane in which the flank 25 is inscribed. Such an orientation makes it possible to establish the connection between the tab 26 and the second end 21 of the balancer 14 in the continuity of a main dimension of the balancer 14.The latter is therefore less subject to stress when the opening 19 is in movement, and presents less risk of damage or breakage.

[0042] As stated previously, the configuration of the articulation device 13 illustrated in Figure 2 corresponds to an open position of the opening 9. Furthermore, it has also been mentioned that the balancers 14 can be jacks. In Figure 2, the jacks are in the deployed position. This is their return position. In other words, if the opening 9 is not in the closed position and is not subjected to any external force, the jacks will tend to deploy to return to their return position. The deployment of the jacks sets the hinges 15 in motion, which will cause the opening 9 to move until it reaches the open position.

[0043] Figure 3 is an illustration of a balancer 14 and a hinge 15 when the opening leaf 9 is moved from the open position to the closed position or vice versa. In Figure 3, the balancer 14 and the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 are illustrated twice, but it is obvious that Figure 3 illustrates a single balancer 14 and a single second portion 23 in a first position 27, corresponding to the open position of the opening leaf, and in a second position 28 corresponding to the closed position of the opening leaf. For reasons of clarity, the opening leaf is not illustrated in Figure 3.

[0044] When the opening is in motion, the second portion of the hinge 15 performs a rotational movement 29 centered around the pivot connection 24 in a direction depending on whether the opening is opening or closing. Still depending on whether the opening is opening or closing, the balancer 14 drives or is driven by the hinge 15 by performing a translational movement 30 corresponding to a deployment or a retraction of the jack.

[0045] For example, when the opening is closed, the starting position of the balancer 14 and the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 corresponds to the first position 27. Closing the opening tilts the balancer 14 and the hinge 15 from the first position 27 to the second position 28. Thus, when the opening is set in motion to tilt from the open position to the closed position, the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 follows the movement of the opening and pivots around the pivot connection 24 according to the rotational movement 29 and thus approaches the first portion 22. At the same time, the balancer 14 is driven by the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 and at the same time performs the translational movement 30 by retracting. The rotational movement 29 and the translational movement 30 continue until the second portion 23 and the balancer 14 reach the second position 28, corresponding to the position where the opening closes the entrance 8. The second portion 23 of the hinge 15 is then in contact or substantially in contact with the first portion 22, and the jack, i.e. the balancer 14, is fully retracted.

[0046] The reverse movement is implemented when the opening swings from the closed position to the open position. The starting position is then the second position 28. The balancer 14 and the hinge 15 therefore move from the second position 28 to the first position 27. If an external force is applied to the opening during its opening, then it is the hinge 15 which drives the balancer 14. Without an external force applied to the opening, it is the balancer 14 which drives the hinge 15 in movement. The second portion 23 of the hinge 15 pivots around the pivot connection 24 according to the rotational movement 29 and moving away from the first portion 22. The jack itself deploys according to the translational movement 30. These movements continue until the opening reaches the open position, as illustrated in FIG. 1. The balancer 14 and the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 are then positioned according to the first position 27.

[0047] In order to avoid any significant mechanical stress between the balancer 14 and the hinge 15 and between the balancer 14 and the support 19, each end 20, 21 of the balancer 14 is constituted by a spherical or partially spherical body 31. The support 19 and the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 comprise a ball 32 having a diameter substantially smaller than the diameter of the body 31. The ball 32 of the support 19 and the ball 32 of the second portion 23 of the hinge 15 are thus respectively housed in the body 31 constituting the first end 20 of the balancer 14 and in the body 31 constituting the second end 21 of the balancer 14. A body 31 thus at least partially encompassing a ball 32 thus forms a ball joint 33.

[0048] The ball joints 33 allow the body 31 to perform micro-rotations around the ball 32 and / or the ball 32 to perform micro-rotations within the body 31. Thus, when the hinge 15 and the balancer 14 are moved, the second portion 23 and the second end 21 have a degree of freedom relative to each other via the ball joint 33, which prevents any blocking at the corresponding connection. The same applies to the first end 20 and the support 19. However, there is a mechanical constraint between the body 31 and the ball 32 of each ball joint 33 so that the rotational movement 29 and the translational movement 30 can take place when the opening or closing of the opening.

[0049] Figure 4 shows the configuration of the articulation device 13 illustrated in Figure 2, that is to say with two balancers 14a, 14b and with two hinges 15a, 15b, but this time when the opening, not shown, is in the closed position.

[0050] The position of the balancers 14 and the second portion 23 of the hinges 15 is such as that described in FIG. 3, the second portion 23 of the hinges 15 being opposite, or even in contact with, the first portion 22 to which each second portion 23 is connected, and the ends 20, 21 of the balancers 14 are at the same height or substantially at the same height relative to each other. In other words, the balancers 14 are parallel or substantially parallel to the upper wall 5 of the transport and / or storage module when the opening is in the closed position. The jacks are in the retracted position. The configuration of the articulation device 13 illustrated in FIG. 4 is maintained as long as the opening is not reopened.

[0051] The structural characteristics of the articulation device 13 being identical to those described in FIG. 2, reference will therefore be made to the description of FIG. 2 for the structural characteristics relating to the articulation device 13.

[0052] Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples which have just been described and numerous adjustments can be made to these examples without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0053] The invention, as just described, achieves the aim it set for itself, and makes it possible to propose a transport and / or storage module comprising an opening and a hinge device configured so as to do without gutters reducing a loading volume of said module. Variants not described here could be implemented without departing from the context of the invention, provided that, in accordance with the invention, they comprise a transport and / or storage module in accordance with the invention.
