AI Technical Summary
Current panel radiators with fan units installed at the bottom face space constraints and potential collisions with inlet piping or stand brackets, limiting their effectiveness in enhancing heat transfer due to lower inlet water temperatures from renewable sources.
The fan unit is positioned on the top part of the panel radiator, secured using a modified cover with grooves and tongues, allowing easy attachment and removal without requiring special tools or structural changes, utilizing side covers for securement and minimizing thermal output loss.
This configuration enhances heat transfer efficiency by avoiding space limitations and potential collisions, allowing for improved thermal output without additional radiator size or costly manufacturing processes, while maintaining ease of assembly and manufacturing simplicity.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Panel radiator with replaceable electrically driven fan unit
[0002] Field of the Invention
[0003] The invention relates to a panel radi ator with a replaceable elect rica lly driven fan unit which is laid and at tached to the panel radiator consisting of at least two panels parallel to each other interconnected with outlets determining the di stance between the two heating panels provided with side covers . 0 State of the Art
[0004] The state of the art is characterized by the fact that due to the current development in relati on to the use of renewable resources, e . g . heat pumps, condensing boi lers and solar heating, the temperature of the inlet water supplied to5 radiators has currently decreased to only 35 °C to 45 °C . This causes the decrease of the thermal output of radiators which results in insuf ficient heating of the room being heated . Due to the lower inlet temperature, mainly the heat energy transfer from radiators by means of natural convection decreases . To0 increase the thermal output of radiators to the requested level without having to increase their size , it is possible to use known fan units located under the radiator . Using fans located in a fan unit , the air flow through the radiator can be accelerated , and thus convection can be boosted . :5 The fan units for radiators are known but dif fer by the attachment method of such unit to the radiator .
[0005] EP2515046A2 discloses the location of fans to a radiator using brackets which form a part of the radiator .
[0006] EP3933284A1 discloses a solution when the fans are f astened to0 the radiator us ing holders which are pressed into the gaps between the panel channels of the radiator . A simi lar principle is disclosed in EP3800414A1.
[0007] Several patents disclose fastening of a fan unit to the radiator using magnets , e . g . GB2577707A . Currently, the use of a bottom5 connect ion to the heating system pipes is widely used for the radiators , and therefore, the radiators are frequently fitted with a pair of outlets located on the bottom part of the radiator either at one of the radiator edges or in the middle . Moreover, the radiators can be attached to stand brackets opening from below into the radiator . However , this results in a reduced space on the bottom part of the radiator where the fan unit can be located .
[0008] Nature of the Invention The disadvantages of the current installations are el iminated by the patent which resides in locat ing the fan unit on the top part of the radiator .
[0009] The designed arrangement of the fan unit is advantageous in that the issue with the insufficient space and the necessity t o prevent collision with the inlet piping or stand brackets , which is the case of the fan unit installation to the bottom part of the radiator , is solved by locating the fan unit on the top part of the radiator . Moreover, this invent ion does not require any structural changes of the radiator, which means that to be able to use the fan unit , no specia l elements are to be produced, and the fan unit can also be installed additionally to an already operated radiator, e . g . a two-panel one . Through the radiator panels , heat transfer fluid can flow using the inlet and outlet branches . The radiator panels are made by two longitudinal collection channels ( up and down) which are connected by crosswise channels , among which recesses are located .
[0010] The fan unit consists of a cover and more fans fas tened to the cover by a method enabling the transfer of forces . In the cover , the fans are located behind each other in at least one row and the fan unit is demountably attached to the panel radiator using its fastening elements .
[0011] The designed demountable attachment of the fan unit to the radiator is concurrent ly strong enough , simple to assemble , yet easy to manufacture also in smal l series , which means that no expensive moulds for product ion of plastic parts , e . g . f lexible holders pressed into ths gaps between the radiator panel channels, are not necessary to be produced for this invention.
[0012] For attaching the fan unit, the presented invention uses a lock from a fan unit cover with a modified shape. The ends of the fan unit cover are shaped sc that they form grooves into which the side radiator covers can be hooked into. The fan unit attachment itself is then performed by mounting the radiator covers to the radiator. Concurrently, the side radiator covers press the fan unit to the top part of the radiator and secure it against removing.
[0013] Securing the side radiator covers on the radiator against their removal may be solved using various methods according to user's requirements (rubbing only, mechanical lock, screw connection, additional fastening) . When using side covers of the identical or similar design as in the drawings, these side radiator covers need no adjustments for their use with fan units.
[0014] The advantage is in that the fan unit cover can be easily made of sheet metal without the necessity to produce special tools or special technologies, and no special tooling is necessary for the attachment of the fan unit.

[0021] Example of Invention Embodiment A panel radiator with a replaceable electrically driven fan unit
[0022] A is characterized in that the fan unit (A) with its structural cover (Bi is located above on a two-panel radiator (H) , and is demountably connected with side covers (S) of the radiator (H) using a lock (Z) into one unit, wherein the lock (Z) located on both ends of the long front side (2) and the long rear side (3) of the structural cover (B) consists of a groove (D) and a tongue (J) for inserting and attaching the upper bent end (K) of the lateral cover (S) being tightly connected with the radiator (H; . The fan unit A consists of the structural, cover B made of sheet metal (or plastic or other suitable material) .
[0023] In the structural cover B of the fan unit A (see Figs. 1 to 3) , fans y and control electronics E together with not-shown connecting cables are fastened. The fans V and the control electronics E can be attached in the structural cover B e.g. using screws or glue. For example, the use of a double-sided adhesive tape is preferred, since the tape concurrently works as an insulation element against transmission of vibrations between the fan V and the structural cover B of the fan unit A. The structural cover B is provided with exhaust openings 0, which exhaust the air from the fans V out from the fan unit A and also allow the air to flow between the panels 5 and 6 of the radiator H. The exhaust openings 0 are of great importance since they ensure a minimum decrease of the thermal output of the radiator H during its operation with a switched-off fan unit A (compared to the thermal output of a standard radiator H without a mounted fan unit A) and at the same time, they increase the thermal output of the radiator H during heating with a switched- on fan unit A. The width of the structural cover B of the fan unit A is selected so that the upper edges 7 of panels 5 and 6 of the radiator H were located between the long front side 2 and the long rear side 3. of the structura l cover B of the fan unit A after placing the fan unit A on the radiator H ( see Fig . 5 ) . At the same t ime, the width of the structural cover B of the fan uni t A is designed so it would be possible to insert it into the side cover S of the radiator H .
[0024] To attach the fan uni t A to the radiator H, a lock Zrwhich is formed by the groove p and the tongue J , made on both ends of the long front s ide 2 and the long rear s ide 3 of the st ructural cover B of the fan unit A is used . The height of both shorter lateral sides 4 of the structural cover B of the fan unit A is shorter along their length then the height of the long front side 2 and the long rear side 3 of the structural cover B of the fan unit A so that it enables to insert the uoper bent end K of the side cover S into the groove D of the lock Z . The attachment of the fan unit A on the radiator H ( see Figs . 4 a , b, c ) is thus ensured by the fact that the upper bent ends K of side covers S of the radiator H are inserted into the structural cover B of the fan unit A along its both short lateral sides 4 so that the upper bent end K of the side cover S of the radiator H is inserted into the groove p of the lock Z from the structural cover B of the fan unit A, wherein the tongue J is inserted into the side cover S of the radiator H under its upper bent end K .
[0025] By subsequent ly f itt ing the side covers S together with the fan unit A to the radiator H, the fan unit A is secured against removal . In order to reduce the transmission of vibrat ions and noise from the fans V, the long front side 2 and the long rear side 3 of the structural cover B can be fitted with a damping element having a suitable G structure (e . g . rubber of plastic sealing profiles ) in the area of a possible contact wi th the radiator H as is shown in Fic . 6. Industrial Applicability
[0026] The panel radiator with the replaceable electri call y driven fan unit is applicable for standard two-panel radiators installed in i n t e r i c r s .
