Description

Description Title of the invention: packaging for a windshield wiper blade

[0001] [The technical context of the present invention is that of the packaging of windshield wiper blades. More particularly, the invention relates to a packaging for a windshield wiper blade, in particular a sleeve-type packaging, as well as to an assembly comprising a windshield wiper blade within such a packaging. [2] Wiping systems for motor vehicles are designed to remove, by sweeping, liquids and dirt present on a glass surface, such as for example a windshield, and likely to disturb a driver of such motor vehicles in his detection of a wheel scene or his environment. [3] Such known wiping systems generally comprise a drive arm which performs an angular reciprocating movement, and wiper blades equipped with wiping blades formed from an elastic material, or even rubber. By rubbing against the glass surface, the wiping blades sweep away water and dirt, and evacuate them outside the driver's field of vision. [4] The friction of the wiper blade on the glass surface of the motor vehicle, the presence on said glass surface of dust or gravel during operation of the wiper blade, or even the degradation of the wiper blade when not in use and its exposure to environmental factors such as sunlight and ozone, are factors which affect the quality of known wiper blades and lead to wear of all or part of said wiper blades. [5] Thus, such wiper blades are wear parts that need to be replaced more or less frequently, depending on their use. [6] As is known, since the windscreen wiper blades are located outside the vehicle and are easily accessible, a user of the vehicle can replace them without any particular difficulty. [7] Therefore, wiper blades are very commonly available for retail sale, not only in automotive-related outlets such as spare parts stores and gas stations, but also in general retail outlets such as discount stores and department stores. [8] In such general retail outlets, in order to maximize shelf space, wiper blades are typically packaged in a tubular sleeve, made from a sturdy plastic such as PET, or in cardboard packaging. These containers can then be hung from pegs in a vertical orientation, or laid flat on top of each other in a horizontal orientation. [9] Such known packaging has many disadvantages. Firstly, the use of plastic to manufacture disposable packaging is increasingly less compatible, or even no longer compatible, with the environmental standards of manufacturers or retailers of windshield wiper blades.

[0010] However, known cardboard packaging is not optimal either, because it is more fragile. In particular, damage to cardboard packaging is regularly observed when inserting or handling the wiper blade in said packaging. Indeed, since the wiper blade forms a rather rigid part opposite the cardboard, in particular due to its connector, its vertebrae or its cover, longitudinal edges of said wiper blade can come into contact with the walls of the cardboard packaging and cut them.

[0011] Of course, such a situation is not desired.

[0012] The object of the present invention is to provide a novel packaging for a windshield wiper blade in order to at least largely address the above problems and to further lead to other advantages.

[0013] Another object of the invention is to reduce damage to such packaging when inserting or extracting the wiper blade.

[0014] Another aim of the invention is to improve the quality of such packaging.

[0015] According to a first aspect of the invention, at least one of the aforementioned objectives is achieved with a packaging for a windscreen wiper blade, the packaging comprising peripheral walls extending along a longitudinal axis and forming a sleeve inside which the windscreen wiper blade is intended to be housed, the walls peripherals comprising a support member extending along the longitudinal axis and configured to allow said wiper blade to rest on said support member.

[0016] In the context of the present invention, a longitudinal axis, a lateral axis and a vertical axis are defined relative to the packaging according to the first aspect of the invention intended to be mounted.

[0017] More particularly, the longitudinal axis extends as taken along a largest dimension of the package, corresponding to a direction of extrusion of the package and according to which the wiper blade can be introduced into said package. The adjectives frontal, front and rear refer to this longitudinal axis.

[0018] Furthermore, the transverse axis is understood as a direction taken between two opposite side walls of the package, in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The adjectives lateral, right and left refer to such a transverse axis.

[0019] Finally, the vertical axis is understood as being taken along an axis which extends in another direction simultaneously perpendicular to the transverse axis and to the longitudinal axis, between two opposite peripheral walls of the packaging. The adjectives above and below, or lower and upper refer to this vertical axis.

[0020] In the context of the present invention, the packaging forms a housing - the sleeve - for the windscreen wiper blade with which it is intended to collaborate, in particular, the longitudinal and transverse dimensions of the packaging are such that they allow the insertion of the windscreen wiper blade into said packaging. This insertion is preferably carried out with minimal play, or even without play, so that the windscreen wiper blade can collaborate with the support member, thus preventing said windscreen wiper blade from moving too much in the packaging during its transport.

[0021] In the context of the present invention, the peripheral walls delimit the packaging and its housing. The peripheral walls preferably extend in a rectilinear manner, relative to the longitudinal axis. In other words, the peripheral walls form flat surfaces, or possibly curved. In a transverse plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the peripheral walls delimit, for example, a polygonal or elliptical contour. Preferably, the peripheral walls delimit a hexagonal contour.

[0022] In the context of the present invention, the support member makes it possible to establish contact and maintain the wiper blade in the packaging. The support member thus makes it possible to functionalize the peripheral walls of the packaging, in order to allow them, in addition to delimiting the housing into which the wiper blade is inserted, to maintain said wiper blade in said housing. In general, the support member is configured to allow the wiper blade to press against it. Alternatively or additionally, the support member is also configured to allow translational guidance of the wiper blade in the packaging when said wiper blade is inserted or extracted therein.

[0023] Thus, the packaging in accordance with the first aspect of the invention makes it possible to improve known packaging by strengthening the interactions between said packaging and the windscreen wiper blade which it houses.

[0024] The packaging in accordance with the first aspect of the invention advantageously comprises at least one of the improvements below, the technical characteristics forming these improvements being able to be taken alone or in combination:

[0025] - the peripheral walls of the packaging comprise side walls, located on either side of the packaging relative to a transverse axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the support member comprising at least one right support element located on a right side wall and at least one left support element located on a left side wall opposite the right side wall. The side walls extend from one longitudinal end of the packaging to the other. The side walls are preferably symmetrical to each other. When the packaging is formed, the side walls are shaped and spaced apart from each other by means of the closing flap and the closing flap;

[0026] - the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element are symmetrical with respect to each other. In other words, each left support element is symmetrical with a corresponding right support element located opposite, on the other side wall of the packaging;

[0027] - according to a first preferred embodiment, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element each form a groove formed in the corresponding side walls. Preferably, the groove forming the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element is formed by a longitudinal fold of the packaging. This advantageous configuration thus makes it possible to match the groove of each right support element and each left support element with the windscreen wiper blade housed in the packaging, so that longitudinal edges of said windscreen wiper blade collaborate with the right support element and the left support element. In particular, the longitudinal edges of the windscreen wiper blade engage at least partially in the groove forming the right support element and the left support element;

[0028] - preferably, the at least one support element is formed by a longitudinal fold of the packaging. In other words, each support element is formed by a longitudinal fold which extends and which is formed on one of the side walls of the packaging;

[0029] - according to a second variant of the invention, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element comprise a rib formed in the corresponding side walls. The rib is for example formed by an extrusion of material on an inner face of the packaging, on the side walls of said packaging. This advantageous configuration thus makes it possible to match the rib of each right support element and left support element with the windscreen wiper blade housed in the packaging, so that longitudinal edges of said windscreen wiper blade collaborate with the right support element and the left support element. In particular, the longitudinal edges of the windscreen wiper blade are placed in abutment on the right support element and on the left support element;

[0030] - in the second embodiment, optionally, the rib forming the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element is attached and fixed securely to the corresponding side walls. Each rib is for example glued to the corresponding side walls of the packaging;

[0031] - in the second embodiment, preferably, the rib forming the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element is made from the same material as the corresponding side wall. The rib is formed by an excess thickness of the corresponding side wall;

[0032] - the support member extends between two longitudinal closing flaps of the packaging. In particular, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element extend between the two longitudinal closing flaps of the packaging;

[0033] - the support member extends from a first longitudinal closure flap to a second longitudinal closure flap. In particular, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element extend from a first longitudinal closure flap to a second longitudinal closure flap. In other words, the support member extends over the entire length of the packaging, taken along the longitudinal axis;

[0034] - the support member extends at a central zone of the packaging, taken between the two longitudinal closing flaps. In particular, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element extend at the central zone of the packaging, taken between the two longitudinal closing flaps. By central zone, it is understood that the support member extends at a distance from the two longitudinal ends of the packaging. This advantageous configuration makes it possible to maintain the wiper blade close to its central part, at a connector of said wiper blade;

[0035] - the support member extends from an end zone of said packaging located near one of the longitudinal closure flaps. In particular, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element extend into the packaging from the end zone located near one of the longitudinal closure flaps. longitudinal closure of the package. The terminal zone is located near a longitudinal end of the package;

[0036] - the support member extends parallel to the longitudinal axis of the packaging. In particular, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element extend parallel to the longitudinal axis of the packaging. This advantageous configuration makes it easier to guide the wiper blade in the packaging;

[0037] - if the packaging comprises several right-hand support elements and left-hand support elements, then they all extend parallel to each other in the packaging. This advantageous configuration makes it easier to guide the wiper blade in the packaging;

[0038] - the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element have a length, taken along the longitudinal axis, of between a quarter and a half of a length of the packaging taken between its two longitudinal closing flaps. Preferably, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element have a length, taken along the longitudinal axis, equal or substantially equal to a third of a length of the packaging taken between its two longitudinal closing flaps;

[0039] - relative to a vertical axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the peripheral walls of the packaging comprising an upper wall and a lower wall, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element are located in a middle position between said upper wall and said lower wall. This advantageous configuration makes it possible to establish a connection between the side walls of the packaging and the windscreen wiper blade taken at the level of its connector or its deflector;

[0040] - relative to a vertical axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the peripheral walls of the packaging comprising an upper wall and a lower wall, the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element are located close to said upper wall or said lower wall. By proximity, it is understood that the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element are located at a distance less than or equal to one third of a height of the packaging taken between said lower wall and said upper wall, preferably equal to a quarter of said height. This advantageous configuration makes it possible to establish a connection between the side walls of the packaging and the windscreen wiper blade taken at the level of its wiping blade or its end pieces;

[0041] - the at least one right support element and the at least one left support element comprise (i) a first right support element and a first left support element located at the first closing flap, (ii) a second right support element and a second left support element located at the second closing flap, (iii) a third right support element and a third left support element located at the central area of the packaging, (iv) a fourth right support element and a fourth left support element located at the central area of the packaging. This advantageous configuration provides optimal retention of the wiper blade in the packaging, in engagement with the multi-part side walls;

[0042] - the first right support element, the first left support element, the second right support element and the second left support element are all parallel to each other. Preferably, the first right support element and the second right support element, on the one hand, and the first left support element and the second left support element are collinear with each other;

The wiper blade 2 is generally centered in the sleeve 17 and between the two longitudinal ends 10 of the package 1, relative to the longitudinal axis 01. In particular, the wiper blade 2 collaborates with all or part of the support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b, or the wiper blade 2 is held by all or part of said support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b. Thus, the end pieces of the wiper blade collaborate with the first left support element 12b, the first right support element 12a, the second left support element 13b and the second right support element 13a, and in particular at the level of their proximal parts of the longitudinal end 10 of the packaging 1.Furthermore, the connector 21 of the wiper blade 2 cooperates with the third right support element 15a, the third left support element 15b, the fourth right support element 14a and the fourth left support element 14b.

[0091] FIGURE 4 illustrates the insertion of a small wiper blade 2 into the package 1. The wiper blade 2 extends into the sleeve 17 at a distance from the two longitudinal ends 10 of the package 1. Thus, the end pieces of the wiper blade collaborate with the first left support element 12b, the first right support element 12a, the second left support element 13b and the second right support element 13a, and in particular at the level of their distal parts of the longitudinal end 10 of the packaging 1. In addition, the connector 21 of the wiper blade 2 collaborates with the third right support element 15a, the third left support element 15b, the fourth right support element 14a and the fourth left support element 14b. Thus, advantageously, the same packaging 1 is compatible with several lengths of wiper blades 2 housed therein.

[0092] FIGURE 5 illustrates the insertion of a small wiper blade 2 into the package 1, in a manner similar to that of FIGURE 4. The wiper blade 2 extends into the sleeve 17 at a distance from the two longitudinal ends 10 of the package 1. The wiper blade 2 is generally off-center in the sleeve 17, so as to be closer to one of the two longitudinal ends 10 of the package 1, relative to the longitudinal axis 01. In particular, the wiper blade 2 collaborates with all or part of the support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b, or the wiper blade 2 is held by all or part of said support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b.Thus, the end pieces of the wiper blade collaborate with the first left support element 12b, the first right support element 12a, the second left support element 13b and the second right support element 13a, and in particular at the level of their distal parts of the longitudinal end 10 of the packaging 1. In addition, the connector 21 of the wiper blade 2 collaborates with the third right support element 15a, the third left support element 15b, the fourth right support element 14a and the fourth left support element 14b.

[0093] Thus, the dimensions of the different support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b forming the support member make it possible to accommodate numerous types of windscreen wiper blade 2 in the packaging 1, and to allow their possible movement in said packaging 1 without risk to the integrity of the side walls 11a, 11b of the packaging 1.

[0094] In summary, the invention relates to a packaging 1 for a windshield wiper blade 2 comprising peripheral walls 11 extending along a longitudinal axis 01 and forming a sleeve 17 inside which the wiper blade 2 is intended to be housed. The peripheral walls 11 comprise a support member extending along the longitudinal axis 01 and configured to allow collaboration with a front longitudinal edge 25a or a rear longitudinal edge 25b of said wiper blade 2. For this purpose, support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b are formed on side walls 11a, 11b of the package 1. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support elements 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b are formed by longitudinal folds of at least one of the side walls 11a, 11b, so as to form a groove supporting the wiper blade 2 housed in the sleeve 17.

[0095] Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples which have just been described and numerous adjustments can be made to these examples without departing from the scope of the invention. In particular, the different characteristics, forms, variants and embodiments of the invention can be associated with each other in various combinations insofar as they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, all the variants and embodiments described above can be combined with each other.
