Description

DESCRIPTION TITLE: Motor vehicle trunk and motor vehicle comprising such a trunk [Technical field]

[0001] The present invention claims priority from French application 2304137 filed on April 25, 2023, the content of which (text, drawings and claims) is incorporated herein by reference. The invention relates to the field of motor vehicles and more particularly concerns a motor vehicle trunk and a motor vehicle comprising such a trunk. [State of the prior art]

[0002] A motor vehicle typically has a storage compartment comprising a set of cabinet parts arranged to define a storage space.

[0003] A type of motor vehicle trunk known from the prior art comprises a lower floor in the lower part of the trunk, defining a floor bottom.

[0004] The lower floor may include a housing for a so-called "uniform" spare wheel, of dimensions identical to those of the wheels fitted to the motor vehicle, or a so-called "space-saver" spare wheel, of dimensions smaller than those of the wheels fitted to the motor vehicle.

[0005] The spare wheel, whether standard or space-saver, is fixed to the lower floor using a fixing system, for example a half-cup fixed to the lower floor.

[0006] In a known embodiment of the prior art, the half-bowl is fixed to the lower floor by a plastic screw, allowing rapid vertical locking with a plastic nut.

[0007] When the motor vehicle is subjected to a frontal impact, the plastic screw has low tear resistance and it has been noted that the plastic screw breaks after 3 to 10 milliseconds, while the impact lasts 120 milliseconds.

[0008] In another embodiment of the prior art, the half-bowl is fixed to the lower floor by means of a metal interface screwed with a nut crimped into the lower floor or on an interface welded by means of spot welds.

[0009] When the motor vehicle is subjected to a frontal impact, it has been noticed that the nut is torn off or the welding points are peeled off.

[0010] Thus, the tearing of the fastening system is almost systematic in the event of a frontal impact suffered by the motor vehicle, whatever the type of fastening system chosen.

[0011] However, if the spare wheel mounting system is torn off following a frontal impact, there is a high risk of the spare wheel being ejected from its housing.

[0012] If the spare wheel is ejected from its housing, the spare wheel may impact the rear seat of the motor vehicle, causing unwanted movements of the occupants of the rear seat, which may in turn impact the occupants of the front seats of the motor vehicle or strike certain parts of the motor vehicle.

[0013] Also, if the spare wheel is ejected from its housing, the spare wheel may go through the luggage cover which covers the trunk and strike the occupants of the motor vehicle.

[0014] There is therefore a need to secure the trunk of the motor vehicle in order to prevent the spare wheel from impacting the occupants of the motor vehicle in the event of a head-on collision.

[0015] Document FR 3 120 225 discloses a motor vehicle trunk comprising a lower floor defining a housing intended to receive a spare wheel. The housing is covered by an intermediate hatch or floor, movable between an open position and a closed position concealing the housing receiving the spare wheel and capable of being locked and unlocked by means of a locking device actuated by a mobile digital terminal.

[0016] The purpose of locking the intermediate floor here is to prevent the theft of the spare wheel stored in the trunk compartment of the motor vehicle and to secure access to the spare wheel compartment, and is not suitable for resisting possible mechanical stress on the spare wheel in the event of a frontal impact of the motor vehicle.

[0017] Also, unlocking the floor lock device requires the use of a mobile digital terminal, which is relatively restrictive for a user. [Statement of the invention]

[0018] The present invention aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, and to this end relates to a motor vehicle trunk, comprising: - an opening, movable between an open position and a closed position by means of an electrical control means for said opening, - a body structure, including a housing suitable for receiving a spare wheel, - an intermediate floor, movable between an open position allowing access to said accommodation and a closed position closing access to said accommodation, - a device for locking said intermediate floor on said body structure, movable alternately between a locking position locking said intermediate floor in said closed position and an unlocking position unlocking said intermediate floor allowing said intermediate floor to move into said open position, - a means for actuating said locking device, controlling the passage of said locking device alternately between said locking position and said unlocking position, remarkable in that said means for actuating said locking device is controlled by said electrical control means of said trunk, so that when a signal for controlling the opening of said opening is sent, the locking device passes into said unlocking position, and when a signal for controlling the closing of said trunk opening is sent, the locking device passes into said locking position.

[0019] Thanks to the present invention, in the event of the spare wheel attachment system being torn off, for example following a frontal impact of the motor vehicle, the locking device keeps the intermediate floor in its closed position, which makes it possible to contain the spare wheel in its housing, and consequently to avoid injury to the occupants of the motor vehicle in the event of the spare wheel attachment system being torn off.

[0020] Also, by providing for controlling the means of actuation of the intermediate floor locking device by means of electrical control of the trunk, when a user commands the opening of the trunk, the locking device automatically moves into its unlocked position, which allows the user to access the housing by pivoting the intermediate floor into its open position.

[0021] In the same way, when the user has pivoted the intermediate floor into its closed position and controls the closing of the trunk, the device lock automatically moves to its locking position, which makes the locking device active when using the motor vehicle.

[0022] According to optional characteristics of the safe according to the invention: - said locking device comprises a set of locking lugs; - said locking lugs are retractable; - in one embodiment, said locking lugs are carried by said body structure of said motor vehicle; - in another embodiment, said locking lugs are carried by said intermediate floor; - said means for actuating said locking device can be powered by induction; - said locking lugs are mounted at a rear end of said trunk; - said locking lugs are metallic; - said locking lugs are mounted laterally relative to said intermediate floor, on either side of said intermediate floor.

[0023] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a trunk, remarkable in that said trunk is according to the invention. [Description of the drawings]

[0024] Other characteristics, aims and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows, for the understanding of which reference will be made to the appended drawings in which:

[0025] [Fig. 1] is a side view schematically showing a motor vehicle trunk according to the invention, the intermediate floor being illustrated in the open position.

[0026] [Fig. 2] shows the trunk of the invention in rear view, the intermediate floor being shown in the closed position. [Description of embodiments]

[0027] In the remainder of the description, elements having an identical structure or similar functions are designated by the same reference.

[0028] By convention, we will adopt, without limitation, longitudinal, vertical and transverse orientations indicated by the direct trihedron (L, V, T) designating the longitudinal, vertical and transverse axes of the vehicle.

[0029] In the following, the terms "front", "rear", "left", "right", "lower" and "upper" refer to the vehicle.

[0030] We refer to Figure 1 which schematically shows in side view an exemplary embodiment of a trunk 1 of a motor vehicle 3 according to the invention.

[0031] Motor vehicle 3 is a vehicle with a thermal engine, electric motor(s) or a hybrid vehicle with a thermal engine and one or more electric motors.

[0032] Chest 1 has a longitudinal median plane of symmetry. Thus, the description given for a left part of chest 1 applies by analogy to the right part of chest 1, and vice versa.

[0033] The trunk 1 comprises in its lower part a lower floor 5, in the lower part of the trunk 1, also called “floor bottom”, forming part of a body structure 7 of the motor vehicle.

[0034] Access to the trunk 1 from outside the motor vehicle 3 is achieved via an opening 9, which may be a trunk door or a tailgate.

[0035] The opening 9 can alternatively be opened or closed by means of an electrical control means.

[0036] The body structure 7 comprises a housing 11 or compartment, adapted to receive, for example, a spare wheel 13 intended to be fixed to the lower floor 5. Optionally, the lower floor 5 can receive a tool box (not shown) comprising tools useful for replacing a wheel of the motor vehicle.

[0037] The spare wheel 13 may be a “uniform” spare wheel, of dimensions identical to those of the wheels fitted to the motor vehicle, or a “space-saver” spare wheel, the dimensions of which are smaller than those of the wheels fitted to the motor vehicle.

[0038] The spare wheel 13 is fixed to the lower floor 5 by means of a fixing system not shown in the figures, comprising for example a half-cup fixed to the lower floor 5.

[0039] The trunk 1 further comprises an intermediate floor 15, for example removable, which can be a “two-position” floor, as well as a luggage cover 17 which can be used to conceal the contents of the trunk 1.

[0040] As illustrated in Figure 1, the intermediate floor 15 can be made in a single piece extending over the entire length of the trunk 1. According to an alternative embodiment not illustrated, the intermediate floor 9 comprises two sub-floors articulated together at a hinge.

[0041] The intermediate floor 15 is furthermore mounted on the body structure by means of two lateral supports 19 mounted on either side of the intermediate floor 15 near a front end 21 of the trunk 1.

[0042] The presence of the lateral supports 19 makes it possible to block the movement of the intermediate floor 15 relative to a longitudinal axis of the motor vehicle 3 while allowing angular movement of the intermediate floor relative to a transverse axis of the motor vehicle 3.

[0043] Thus, the intermediate floor 15 is movable between an open position shown in Figure 1 and a closed position shown in Figure 2.

[0044] In its open position, the intermediate floor 15 allows access to the housing 11. Also, in its open position, the intermediate floor 15 has pivoted around an axis 23 substantially transverse to the motor vehicle 3 passing through the lateral stackings 19.

[0045] We refer to figure 2 which is schematically shown in a view from behind the trunk 1, the intermediate floor 15 being here shown in the closed position.

[0046] When the intermediate floor 15 is in the closed position, the intermediate floor 15 is in a substantially horizontal position relative to the motor vehicle 3, thus closing access to the housing 11.

[0047] When the intermediate floor 15 occupies its closed position, a user of the motor vehicle 3 can place luggage or other parcels in the trunk 1, on the intermediate floor 15.

[0048] The trunk 1 comprises, according to the invention, a locking device 25 for the intermediate floor 15, designed to lock the intermediate floor 15 in its closed position when the locking device 25 occupies a locking position and to unlock the intermediate floor 15 when the locking device 25 occupies an unlocking position, then allowing the intermediate floor 15 to move into its open position.

[0049] The locking device 25 is arranged in the trunk 1 to prevent the intermediate floor 15 from pivoting around its axis 23, in particular when the spare wheel attachment system 13 is torn off following a frontal impact, when the locking device occupies its locking position.

[0050] For this purpose, the locking device is for example mounted near a rear end 27 of the trunk 1 (visible in figure 1).

[0051] The passage of the locking device 25 alternately between its locking position and its unlocking position is carried out by a motorized actuation means (not shown).

[0052] According to the invention, the actuating means of the locking device 25 is controlled by the electrical control means of the trunk 1, so that when a trunk opening control signal is sent, the locking device 25 moves into its unlocking position, and when a trunk closing control signal 1 is sent, the locking device 25 moves into its locking position.

[0053] Thus, when a user commands the opening of the trunk 1, the locking device 25 automatically moves into its unlocked position, which allows the user to access the housing 11 by pivoting the intermediate floor 15 into its open position.

[0054] When the user has pivoted the intermediate floor 15 into its closed position and controls the closing of the trunk 1, the locking device 25 automatically moves into its locked position.

[0055] In the exemplary embodiment illustrated in Figure 2, the locking device 25 comprises two locking lugs 29. However, according to an alternative embodiment not shown, more locking lugs 29 can be fitted to the locking device 25.

[0056] The locking lugs 29 are sized to be able to retain the force applied by the spare wheel 13 in the event of the spare wheel attachment system 13 being torn off, for example in the event of a frontal impact of the motor vehicle.

[0057] For example, the locking lugs 29 are metallic, which provides good resistance to stress on the spare wheel 13 when its fixing system is torn off.

[0058] The locking lugs 29 are, for example, retractable lugs.

[0059] In one embodiment, the locking lugs 29 are mounted laterally relative to the intermediate floor, on either side of the intermediate floor 15.

[0060] The locking lugs 29 are for example carried by the body structure 7 of the motor vehicle, and are fixed to the intermediate floor 15 to lock the intermediate floor 15 when the locking device 25 occupies its locking position. In this way, this makes it possible to avoid the user having to disconnect the means for actuating the locking lugs 29 when he wishes to remove the floor. intermediate 15, for example to remove the spare wheel 13 or clean the lower floor 5.

[0061] According to an alternative embodiment not shown, the locking lugs 29 are carried by the intermediate floor 15 and are fixed to the body structure 7 to lock the intermediate floor 15 when they occupy their locking position. In this case, the motorized actuation means of the locking device 25 can be powered by induction.

[0062] In one embodiment, the locking lugs 29 are for example mounted near the rear end 27 of the trunk 1.

[0063] As goes without saying, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments of this motor vehicle trunk and of this motor vehicle comprising such a trunk, described above solely as illustrative examples, but on the contrary it embraces all variants involving the technical equivalents of the means described as well as their combinations if these fall within the scope of the invention.
