Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Method for fixing by welding an interface support on a vehicle seat slide profile
[0001] The invention relates to a method for fixing by welding an interface support on a vehicle seat slide profile and a vehicle seat slide profile capable of being obtained by such a method. Technical field
[0002] The invention relates to the field of vehicle seats and in particular motor vehicle seats. In particular, the invention relates to the field of manufacturing vehicle seats, in particular slides provided for securing the seat to the floor of the vehicle, as well as guiding it in translation relative to the floor of the vehicle. Prior art
[0003] As is well known, a slide for a vehicle seat comprises an upper rail and a lower rail mounted to slide relative to each other in a longitudinal direction. The lower rail is generally intended to be fixed to the floor of a vehicle, while the upper rail is intended to be connected to the frame of the seat.
[0004] The upper rail and the lower rail are generally each essentially constituted by a metal profile cut and folded according to the desired configuration, the profile of the upper rail, called the upper profile, being configured to be received and to slide, in the profile of the lower rail, called the lower profile, or vice versa.
[0005] Also in a known manner, a connecting means, such as for example a connecting rod, may be provided to connect the vehicle seat frame to the upper rail of the slide, said connecting means being secured to the upper profile, generally by means of an interface support fixed to said upper profile.
[0006] Such an interface support, generally made in the form of a metal sheet, cut and folded according to the desired configuration, is intended to be permanently fixed to said upper profile, and in particular by welding, said upper profile also generally being made, at least partially, of metallic material.
[0007] A welding attachment has the advantage of being simple and quick to carry out, and in particular in a fully automated manner, for example by a robot, and allows a strong attachment of said interface support to the upper profile, capable in particular of resisting in the event of an impact of the vehicle.
[0008] Said welding is generally carried out with a laser beam emitted by an emitting source which is positioned so as to come into contact with the area to be welded, which corresponds to an interface zone between the interface support and the upper profile, to heat it so as to melt the metal of each part, which when cooling will create a weld joint between the two parts.
[0009] A slide profile generally has a substantially U-shaped cross-section with a transverse wall connecting two side walls together, said side walls being substantially parallel to each other and said transverse wall being substantially perpendicular to said side walls. Advantageously, said transverse wall connects the side walls by one of their respective ends.
[0010] The interface support is generally intended to be fixed to a profile on one of its side walls, on the outer face thereof. Each side wall in fact has an outer face, that is to say oriented towards the outside of the U formed by the cross section of said profile, and an inner face, that is to say oriented towards the inside of the U formed by the cross section of said profile.
[0011] According to the methods of fixing by welding an interface support on a vehicle seat slide profile of the prior art, after positioning the interface support with the inner face of one of its walls against the outer face of the side wall of the profile at the desired position, the laser beam is positioned so that it passes successively and in this order, from the emitting source: the wall of the interface support, then the outer face of said side wall of the profile, and remaining inside the material of the side wall of the profile.
[0012] The weld joint is then produced by moving said laser beam relative to said wall of the interface support along said weld zone, the laser beam maintaining a position such that it passes successively and in this order, from the emitting source: the wall of the interface support, then the outer face of said side wall of the profile, and remaining inside the material of the side wall of the profile.
[0013] The weld joint thus produced between the interface support and the upper profile of the slide, however, creates an excess thickness on the outer face of the wall of the interface support, which, according to the inventor's findings, firstly gives an unsightly appearance to the slide profile thus obtained, because the weld joint is visible when the slide comprising said upper profile is in its position of use, fixed to the floor of the vehicle and a seat is connected to it.
[0014] This excess thickness on the outer face of the wall of the interface support can also form an obstacle hindering the mobility of a part intended to be mounted on the interface support, bearing against the outer face of said wall of the interface support, for example a connecting means, such as for example a connecting rod, intended to connect the vehicle seat frame to the top rail of the slide.
[0015] Grinding and / or polishing this excess thickness in order to remove it increases the manufacturing time and therefore the cost price of said slide rail profile, and can also weaken said weld and therefore the fixing of the interface support to the upper profile of the slide, which can then no longer be able to withstand an impact from the vehicle.
[0016] Also, the thickness of the wall of the interface support, bearing against the outer face of the wall of the interface support, is generally greater than the thickness of the wall of the interface support. As a result, since the laser beam must pass through the entire thickness of the wall of the interface support to reach the interior of the material of the side wall of the profile, the power to be supplied by the emitting source to supply such a laser beam proves to be particularly high and consumes a significant amount of energy, which also increases the cost price of the slide rail profile.
[0017] Finally, due to the geometry of the upper slide profile, this welding operation, to be carried out automatically, must be carried out by means of a robot, which represents a high cost, in particular because of the complexity of the implementation of the robot. Technical problem
[0018] The invention overcomes these drawbacks of the methods of fixing by welding an interface support on a vehicle seat slide profile of the state of the art, by proposing a method of fixing by welding an interface support on a vehicle seat slide profile which does not hinder the mobility of an element mounted on said interface support.
[0019] Another aim of the present invention is to propose such a method of fixing by welding ensuring a strong fixing of the interface support to the slide profile, and in particular in the event of an impact suffered by the vehicle receiving the slide.
[0020] Another aim of the present invention is to propose such a method of fixing by welding making it possible to improve the aesthetics of the slide profile obtained.
[0021] Another aim of the present invention is to propose such a method of fixing by welding which is simple to carry out, and in particular in a fully automated manner in a simplified manner, without using a robot, rapid and with a reduced cost price.
[0022] A method of welding an interface bracket to a vehicle seat slide rail profile is provided, comprising the steps: a) providing an interface support having at least one wall with an inner face, and a slide rail profile having a substantially U-shaped cross-section with a transverse wall connecting two side walls together, said side walls being substantially parallel to each other and said wall transverse being substantially perpendicular to said side walls, the transverse wall and each side wall having an inner face and an outer face, b) positioning the interface support with the inner face of its at least one wall against the outer face of a wall of the profile, c) producing a weld joint between the wall of the interface support and the wall of the profile by moving a laser beam, emitted from an emitting source, relative to the wall of the profile, while maintaining the laser beam in a position such that it successively passes through and in this order, from the emitting source: the inner face of said wall of the profile, then the outer face of said wall of the profile, then the inner face of the wall of the interface support, and while remaining inside the material of the wall of the interface support.

[0024] The invention also relates to a vehicle seat slide profile having a substantially U-shaped cross-section with a transverse wall connecting two side walls together, said side walls being sen ably parallel to each other and said transverse wall being substantially perpendicular to said side walls, the transverse wall and each side wall having an inner face and an outer face, said slide profile comprising an interface support fixed by welding on the outer face of one of its walls, said profile being capable of being obtained by the method according to one of the embodiments of the invention.

[0036] The drawings and the description below contain, for the most part, elements of a certain character. They may therefore not only serve to better understand the present invention, but also contribute to its definition, if necessary.
[0037] Similarly, by substantially parallel or perpendicular, we mean an orientation relative to a given element with an angle less than 30°, which can advantageously be zero, along a straight line parallel, respectively perpendicular to this element.
[0038] The invention relates to a method for fixing by welding an interface support 1 on a profile 2 of a vehicle seat slide rail, comprising the steps: a) providing an interface support 1 having at least one wall 11, 12 with an inner face F11I, F12I and a slide rail profile 2 having a substantially U-shaped cross-section with a transverse wall 21 connecting two side walls 22, 23 to each other, said side walls 22, 23 being substantially parallel to each other and said transverse wall 21 being substantially perpendicular to said side walls 22, 23, the transverse wall 21 and each side wall 22, 23 having an inner face F21I, F22I and an outer face F21E, F22E, b) positioning the interface support 1 with the inner face F11I, F12I of its at least one wall 11, 12 against the outer face F21E, F22E of a wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, c) producing a weld joint 5 between the interface support 1 and the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 by moving a laser beam 3, emitted from an emitting source 4, relative to the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, while maintaining the laser beam 3 in a position such that it passes successively and in this order: the inner face F21I, F22I of said wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, then the outer face F21E, F22E of said wall 22 of the profile, then the inner face F11I, F12I of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, and while remaining inside the material of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1.
[0039] The different stages of the method according to the invention are shown schematically in the exemplary embodiments of Figures 1A to 4: - step a) of providing an interface support 1 and a slide rail profile 2 is shown schematically in the embodiment examples of figures 1A and 1B; - step b) of positioning the interface support 1 with the inner face F111, F121 of its at least one wall 11, 12 against the outer face F21E, F22E of at least one wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 is shown schematically in the exemplary embodiments of FIGS. 2A and 2B; - step c) of producing a weld joint 5 between the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1 and the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 by moving the laser beam 3 is shown schematically in the exemplary embodiment of figure 4.
[0040] Thus, and as visible in the embodiments of Figures 5A and 5B, which represent the profile 2 to which the interface support 1 is fixed at the end of the implementation of the method according to the invention, the weld joint 5 produced ensuring the connection between the interface support 1 and the profile 2 extends only in projection towards the inside of the U of the cross section of the profile 2, from the inner face F21I, F22I of the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2.
[0041] As visible in the embodiments of Figures 1A and 1B, the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1 has an inner face FUI, F12I, that is to say provided to be oriented also towards the inside of the U of the cross section of the profile 2, after fixing the interface support 1 to the profile 2, and intended to be in abutment against the outer face F22E of the wall 22 of the profile 2. The wall 11 may also have an outer face F11E, that is to say provided to be oriented towards the outside of the U of the cross section of the profile 2, after fixing the interface support 1 to the profile 2, and intended to be in abutment against the outer face F22E of the wall 22 of the profile 2.
[0042] The weld joint 5 produced with the method according to the invention extends essentially in the material of the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, between the inner face F21I, F22I and the outer face F21E, F22E of the wall 21, 22, as well as partially in the material of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, projecting from the inner face F11I, F12I of the wall 11, 12, but without extending towards the outside of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, and in particular projecting from its outer face F11E.
[0043] On the contrary, and as visible in the embodiments of FIGS. 5A and 5B, this weld joint 5 projects from the inner face F11I, F12I of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, towards the inside of the U of the cross-section of the profile 2, and therefore also projects towards the inside of the U of the cross-section of the profile 2 from the inner face F21I, F22I of the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2.
[0044] The weld joint 5 therefore does not risk constituting an obstacle for an element received on the interface support 1, for example bearing against the external face F1 1E of the wall 11 of the interface support 1, such as a means of connecting a vehicle seat frame to the profile, such as a connecting rod B, as visible in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 6.
[0045] Also, this weld joint 5 is not visible when the profile is in its position of use, that is to say when the slide comprising it is installed on a vehicle floor and a seat is connected to it, and as visible in the exemplary embodiments of FIG. 5A and FIG. 6, which improves the aesthetics of the profile and therefore of the slide thus obtained.
[0046] On the contrary, a weld joint obtained with a welding fixing method of the prior art, as described previously, extends in projection from the outer face of the wall of the interface support towards the outside of the U of the cross section of the profile, and therefore risks constituting an obstacle for an element received in support on the outer face of the wall of the interface support.
[0047] Also, this weld joint obtained with a welding fixing method of the prior art will be visible when the profile is in its position of use, that is to say when the slide comprising it is installed on a vehicle floor and a seat is connected to it.
[0048] According to the inventor's findings, this method can also be easily implemented in an automated manner by a suitable machine, and without using a robot.
[0049] The trajectory of movement of the laser beam 3 relative to the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 during step c) of the method according to the invention, depends directly on the shape of the weld joint 5.
[0050] This movement of the laser beam 3 relative to the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 during step c) of the method can thus, for example, comprise at least one translational movement of the laser beam 3 relative to the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, for example, as visible according to the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 4, in a longitudinal direction X of the profile 2.
[0051] Alternatively or in addition, the movement of the laser beam 3 relative to the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 during step c) of the method may comprise a translational movement in a transverse direction Y of the profile 2 and / or a translational movement in a vertical direction Z of the profile 2.
[0052] According to one embodiment, the thickness E11 of the wall of the interface support 1 is greater than the thickness E22 of the wall 22 of the profile 2, as visible for example in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 1A.
[0053] Thanks to this advantageous arrangement of the invention, as during step c), to produce the weld joint 5, the laser beam 3 remains inside the material of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, without passing through it, by simply passing through the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 on either side, that is to say from its inner face F21I, F22I to its outer face F21E, F22E, and that the thickness El 1 of the wall of the interface support 1 is greater than the thickness E22 of the wall 22 of the profile 2, the power required to be supplied by the emitting source 4 of the laser beam 3 is less compared to the methods of the prior art in which the laser beam must pass through the material of the wall of the interface support and a part of the wall of the profile, and therefore a greater thickness of material.
[0054] The emitting source 4 of the laser beam 3 therefore requires a lower quantity of energy to obtain the welding of the interface support 1 to the profile 2 compared to the methods of the state of the art, which makes it possible to reduce the cost price of the method.
[0055] According to one embodiment, the method further comprises, following step b), and prior to step c), a step b') of positioning the laser beam 3 emitted from the emitting source 4, so that it passes successively and in this order, from the emitting source 4: the inner face F21I, F22I of said wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, then the outer face F21E, F22E of said wall 21, 22 of the profile 2, then the inner face F11I, F12I wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, and while remaining inside the material of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1.
[0056] This step b') of the method for positioning the laser beam 3 emitted from the emitting source 4 is shown schematically in the exemplary embodiment of FIG. 3.
[0057] Thus, and in the same way as during step c) of the method according to the invention, during step b'), the laser beam 3 remains inside the material of the wall 11, 12 of the interface support 1, without passing through it, by simply passing through the wall 21, 22 of the profile 2 on either side, that is to say from its inner face F21I, F22I to its outer face F21E, F22E. The power supplied by the emitting source 4 of the laser beam 3 to implement the method according to the invention and produce a weld joint 5 is therefore less compared to the methods of the prior art in which the laser beam must pass through the material of the wall of the interface support and a part of the wall of the profile, and therefore a greater thickness of material. This is particularly the case when the thickness El 1 of the wall of the interface support 1 is greater than the thickness E22 of the wall 22 of the profile 2, as visible in the exemplary embodiment of figure 1A.
[0058] According to one embodiment, the profile 2 is a slide upper rail profile, and in which the interface support 1 has a first stop wall 11, the inner face F111 being provided to come into contact with the outer face F22E of a side wall 22 of the profile 2 during step (b) of the method, a weld joint 5 being produced at the end of step d) between said first stop wall 11 of the interface support 1 and the side wall 22 of the profile 2.
[0059] According to one embodiment, the interface support 1 has a second stop wall 12, the inner face F12I of said second stop wall 12 being designed to come into contact with the outer face F21E of the transverse wall 21 of the profile 2 during step b) of the method, a weld joint 5 being produced at the end of step d) between said second stop wall 12 of the interface support 1 and the transverse wall 21 of the profile 2.
[0060] As visible in the embodiments of Figures 4 and 5B, the weld joint 5 between the second stop wall 12 of the interface support 1 and the transverse wall 21 of the profile 2 projects from the inner face F12I of the second stop wall 12 of the interface support 1 towards the inside of the U of the transverse section of the profile 2, and also projects from the inner face F21I of the transverse wall 21 of the profile 2, towards the inside of the U of the transverse section of the profile 2.
[0061] The fact of providing a fixing of the interface support 1 on the profile 2 via at least two weld joints 5, and on two walls 21, 22 of the profile 2, substantially perpendicular to each other, via said two stop walls 11, 12, makes it possible to ensure a more resistant fixing of the interface support 1 on the profile 2.
[0062] As visible in the exemplary embodiments of figures 4 and 5B, the interface support 1 may have two second stop walls 12, substantially identical and positioned in the extension of one another, each intended to be secured via a weld joint 5, distinct or common, to the transverse wall 21 of the profile 2.
[0063] According to one embodiment, the interface support 1 is configured to receive a connecting means B of a vehicle seat frame to the profile 2.
[0064] As visible in the exemplary embodiment of Figure 6, the connecting means B may for example be a connecting rod B (partially shown in Figure 6), pivotally articulated to the interface support 1 along an axis AB, and located in plane support against the outer face Fl 1E of the first stop wall 11 of the interface support. The weld joint 5 joining said first stop wall 11 of the interface support 1 to the side wall 22 of the profile 2 does not generate any excess thickness on the outer face Fl 1E of said first stop wall 11, projecting outwards from said outer face Fl 1E. The pivoting movement of the connecting rod B around the axis AB is therefore not likely to be hindered.
[0065] The invention also relates to a vehicle seat slide profile 2 having a substantially U-shaped cross-section with a transverse wall 21 connecting two side walls 22, 23 to each other, said side walls 22, 23 being substantially parallel to each other and said transverse wall 21 being substantially perpendicular to said side walls 22, 23, the transverse wall 21 and each side wall 22, 23 having an inner face F21I, F22I and an outer face F21E, F22E, said slide profile 2 comprising an interface support 1 fixed by welding to the outer face F21E, F22E of one of its walls 22.
[0066] According to the invention, said profile 2 is capable of being obtained by the method according to one of the embodiments described above.
[0067] All of the provisions described above concerning the profile 2 provided with an interface support 1 fixed by at least one weld joint 5 obtained with the method as described above apply to the profile 2 according to the invention.
[0068] Naturally, other embodiments could have been envisaged by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims below. List of reference signs
