Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Stator for a rotating electrical machine
[0001] The invention relates to a stator for a rotating electrical machine. The invention applies particularly, but not exclusively, to the field of rotating electrical machines such as alternators, starter-alternators, reversible machines, or electric motors. It should be noted that a reversible machine is a rotating electrical machine capable of operating reversibly, on the one hand, as an electrical generator in alternator mode and, on the other hand, as an electric motor, for example, to start the internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.
[0002] An electrical machine according to the invention can be powered from an electrical energy storage unit whose nominal voltage is 12V, 48V or other, for example a nominal voltage greater than 300V.
[0003] It is known to achieve the electrical winding of the stator using a plurality of windings received in slots in a stator frame. It is known that each winding comprises a single conductive segment arranged in a dedicated slot and powered by a dedicated power electronic circuit. This type of configuration allows for individual power supply to the windings and thus provides a machine that is configurable and adaptable to the needs of its environment. The stator includes a short-circuiting element to connect all the windings together, in order to achieve a star connection.
[0004] An efficient cooling of the winding and short-circuiting means is not known in the prior art.
[0005] The invention aims to meet this need and achieves this, according to one of its aspects, by means of a stator for a rotating electrical machine comprising:
[0006] - a frame defining a plurality of notches distributed around an axis of the stator, the frame having a first axial end and a second axial end,
[0007] - a plurality of stator windings, each winding comprising at least one a conductive segment designed to extend axially within a single slot in the stator frame, each slot receiving a single winding,
[0008] - a short-circuiting means for connecting at least two of the windings together,
[0009] Each winding is capable of being powered via a dedicated electronic power circuit by means of which corresponding phase currents can be individually generated and introduced into the windings so as to define a plurality of magnetic poles and a plurality of phases in each pair of poles.
[0010] The stator is remarkable in that it also includes a cooling chamber- housing suitable for receiving a cooling fluid.
[0011] This cooling chamber allows for efficient cooling of the stator windings. Efficient cooling not only prevents stator overheating, particularly under maximum load, but also improves machine efficiency under normal operating conditions.
[0012] According to one aspect of the invention, the cooling chamber and the short-circuiting means are located at the same axial end of the casing. The cooling chamber is situated at an end of the casing opposite to that where the power electronic circuits are located.
[0013] According to one aspect of the invention, the coolant can be water or oil.
[0014] Each winding may comprise a single conductive segment. Each winding is then present in a single slot. The stator then comprises as many windings as slots.
[0015] According to one aspect of the invention, the conductive segments may be conductive bars. Each conductive bar may occupy at least 90%, preferably 95%, of the volume of the slot in which it is disposed. The conductive bars may be straight. Each conductive bar may be a single piece. The stator may include an insulator in each slot. Each conductive bar may be made of aluminum. Each conductive bar may be made of copper.
[0016] Alternatively, each conductive segment may comprise one or more wires, in particular several wires wound in hand. This allows for good filling of each slot and good magnetic coupling.
[0017] According to one aspect of the invention, each winding is powered by a power electronic circuit. Each power electronic circuit may be a bridge arm containing two power switches in series. Each winding may be connected to the middle of each bridge. On either side of the winding, each half-bridge may contain one or more power switches in parallel.
[0018] According to one aspect of the invention, the power switches can be transistors, in particular MOSFETs. There can be as many power electronic circuits as there are slots. There can be as many power electronic circuits as there are windings.
[0019] For the purposes of this application:
[0020] - "axially" means "parallel to the axis of the stator",
[0021] - "radially" means "perpendicular to the axis of the aforementioned stator, and along of a straight line intersecting this axis,"
[0022] - "circumferentially" means "by moving around the axis of the stator".
[0023] According to one aspect of the invention, the cooling chamber is delimited by a Cooling means fixed to the short-circuit means. The cooling means includes a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet of the cooling chamber.
[0024] The cooling means may have contact areas with the short-circuiting means and / or with the conductive segments made of non-conductive material. Preferably, the cooling means may be made of non-conductive material, for example, plastic.
[0025] The cooling means may be annular. The cooling means may be a single piece.
[0026] According to one aspect of the invention, one of the short-circuiting means and the cooling means may have at least one groove cooperating with a system of clips to achieve the fixing.
[0027] Preferably, the cooling means has the groove. The clip system may comprise a plurality of clips, distributed circumferentially. Each clip can cooperate with the groove on one side and with a flat surface of the shorting means on the other to keep the cooling means compressed against the shorting means.
[0028] According to one aspect of the invention, the staple system may include a plurality of internal staples that cooperate with an internal groove and the staple system may include a plurality of external staples that cooperate with an external groove.
[0029] Alternatively, the cooling means can be overmolded onto the short-circuiting means. Alternatively, the cooling means can be fixed to the housing. Alternatively still, the cooling means can be fixed to the conductive segments.
[0030] According to one aspect of the invention, the cooling means may include at least one shim in contact with the casing. This shim allows the cooling means to be positioned axially. The shim may be in surface contact with one end of the casing.
[0031] The cooling means may comprise a plurality of wedges. The wedges may be formed from the same material as the rest of the cooling means. Each wedge may be circumferentially framed by two external clips.
[0032] According to a first embodiment of the cooling chamber, the cooling chamber is delimited by the short-circuiting means. Thus, the cooling chamber is jointly defined by the short-circuiting means and the cooling means.
[0033] The cooling of the short-circuiting means is improved because no element is disposed between said short-circuiting means and the circulating coolant. in the cooling chamber and which extracts the calories.
[0034] According to the first embodiment of the cooling chamber, a sealing system is arranged between the short-circuiting means and the cooling means. This sealing system ensures the sealing of the cooling chamber. The sealing system may include an internal radial seal and an external radial seal.
[0035] According to a second embodiment of the cooling chamber, the cooling chamber is formed by an internal space within the cooling means. Thus, the cooling chamber is defined solely by the cooling means. The cooling chamber may extend within a hollow internal space of the cooling means. The cooling means may be formed of two half-shells joined together.
[0036] In the case where the conducting segments include conducting bars, the short-circuiting means may have openings receiving said conducting bars.
[0037] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one of the conductive bars is arranged in the cooling chamber.
[0038] The conductive bars can thus be in direct contact with the cooling fluid. The presence of the conductive bars in the cooling chamber increases the heat exchange surface area and therefore provides efficient cooling of the windings. The presence of the conductive bars can also create turbulent flow, which promotes heat exchange.
[0039] According to one aspect of the invention, more than 2%, preferably more than 5%, preferably more than 10% of the total length of the conductive bar can be disposed in the cooling chamber.
[0040] Alternatively, the bars can be flush with the cooling chamber. They are thus in surface contact with the coolant.
[0041] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one of the conductive bars may include an axial stop for the short-circuiting means. This axial stop allows the short-circuiting means to be axially stopped and indexed. The axial stop may be formed of the same material as the conductive bar.
[0042] According to one aspect of the invention, all the windings can be connected to each other by means of a short circuit. The short circuit means can be metallic. The short circuit means can be a single piece. The conductive bars can be welded to the short circuit means.
[0043] Alternatively, the short-circuiting means can connect certain conductive bars together so as to form a plurality of bar groups. The short-circuiting means can comprise a plurality of conductive tracks to form the groups of bars. The conductive tracks can be at least partially overmolded.
[0044] According to one aspect of the invention, each winding may comprise a plurality of conductive segments. These conductive segments may be connected together by an interconnection means.
[0045] The interconnection means allows for a compact and shared power supply to the conductive segments of each winding. The phases formed by the windings can be angularly adjusted by the interconnection means.
[0046] The conducting segments of the same winding are supplied via the interconnection means, in particular in parallel.
[0047] According to one aspect of the invention, the conducting segments of each winding can be arranged in notches adjacent to each other.
[0048] Alternatively, each conductive segment is followed circumferentially by a conductive segment from another of the windings. Thus, the windings follow one another circumferentially. The windings define the phases of the stator when they are energized.
[0049] According to one aspect of the invention, each winding comprises six conductive segments per winding. According to another aspect of the invention, the stator comprises eight windings. According to another aspect, the frame may comprise forty-eight slots.
[0050] According to one aspect of the invention, the interconnection means can be disposed on the side of the first axial end of the carcass and the short-circuiting means on the opposite side, namely on the side of the second axial end of the carcass.
[0051] The interconnection means allows the conducting segments to be connected in parallel, while the short-circuit means allows the windings to be connected together to enable a star connection.
[0052] According to one aspect of the invention, the interconnection means may comprise a plurality of rings independent of each other.
[0053] Each ring can be in contact with all the conductive segments of the same winding. The interconnection means can comprise as many rings as there are windings, for example eight.
[0054] According to one aspect of the invention, all the rings are identical. The rings can be spaced apart from each other. The rings are not in contact with each other.
[0055] According to one aspect of the invention, the rings can be electrically conductive, for example made of metal.
[0056] According to one aspect of the invention, each of the rings is in contact with only one of the windings.
[0057] According to one aspect of the invention, the rings can be carried by the conducting segments.
[0058] According to one aspect of the invention, the rings can be axially offset from each other from others.
[0059] According to one aspect of the invention, the interconnection means comprises a plurality of insulating spacers. The insulating spacers are arranged to electrically insulate the rings from one another. All the insulating spacers may be identical. The rings and the insulating spacers may be axially alternated.
[0060] According to one aspect of the invention, the insulating interlayers are axially compressed by the conductive rings.
[0061] According to one aspect of the invention, the insulating spacers can be held in position by axial compression between the rings.
[0062] Alternatively, the rings and insulating spacers can all be integrally joined so that the interconnecting means forms a single, unified part. The insulating spacers can be overmolded onto the rings.
[0063] According to one aspect of the invention, each ring may have a ring and a plurality of radial lugs coming into contact with the conducting segments.
[0064] According to one aspect of the invention, the legs can come from material with the ring.
[0065] According to one aspect of the invention, the rings can be arranged radially at the outside of the conducting segments. The rings extend within the imaginary cylinder defined by the frame. The rings do not increase the radial size of the stator. The legs can extend radially inwards.
[0066] Alternatively, the rings may be inside the conducting segments. The legs may extend radially outwards.
[0067] According to one aspect of the invention, the legs can be straight, in particular in the radial direction.
[0068] According to one aspect of the invention, each leg can be in surface contact with one of the conducting segments.
[0069] According to one aspect of the invention, each ring has at least one tab per conductive segment. Preferably, each ring has two tabs for each conductive segment. The two tabs can circumferentially frame the conductive segments. Preferably, the two tabs associated with the same conductive segment can join to form a connecting passage. These connecting passages allow the rings to be supported by the conductive segments.
[0070] According to one aspect of the invention, the rings can be circumferentially offset from each other by k* 2*ji / (number of notches), with k a non-zero natural number.
[0071] According to one aspect of the invention, one of the conductive bars of each winding may be axially longer than the others. This conductive bar is the power supply conductive bar. Each of these power supply conductive bars allows The windings are supplied with power. These power supply busbars are suitable for connection to power electronic circuits. These power supply busbars can be 10%, preferably 20%, preferably 30% longer than other busbars.
[0072] According to one aspect of the invention, the power supply conductive bars can all be identical.
[0073] Alternatively, the windings are supplied via the interconnection means.
[0074] According to one aspect, at least one conductive bar of each winding presents a Axial stop. This axial stop allows the associated ring to be axially aligned.
[0075] According to one aspect of the invention, the stop is formed from the same material as the rest of the conductive bar. The axial stop may consist of a modification of the cross-section of the conductive bar, for example a narrowing, for example a widening.
[0076] Alternatively, the stop can be an added part.
[0077] Preferably at least one conductive bar of each winding has an axial stop. Even more preferably, each conductive bar can have an axial stop.
[0078] The invention also relates to a rotating electrical machine comprising a stator as defined above and a rotor capable of rotating around an axis of rotation coinciding with the axis of the stator.
[0079] The rotating electrical machine can advantageously form an alternator, an alternator-starter, a reversible machine or an electric motor.
[0080] According to one aspect of the invention, the rotating electrical machine may include a housing. The housing may include a front and rear bearing and a rear bearing. The rear bearing may include a plurality of slots, each through which a conducting segment of each winding passes.
[0081] According to one aspect of the invention, the rear bearing can comprise as many slots as windings, for example eight. Preferably, the slots can be traversed by the power supply conductor bars.
[0082] The invention finally relates to an assembly comprising the rotating electrical machine as defined above and an electronic system comprising a plurality of electronic power circuits supplying the windings so as to define a plurality of magnetic poles and a plurality of phases in each pair of poles of the stator.
[0083] According to one aspect of the invention, the windings are connected to the electronic system by the power supply conductive bars.

[0093] In all the figures, the identical elements or those performing the same function bear The same reference numbers. The following embodiments are examples. Although the description refers to one or more embodiments, this does not necessarily mean that each reference relates to the same embodiment or that the features apply only to a single embodiment. Simple features from different embodiments can also be combined or interchanged to provide other embodiments.
[0094] Figure 1 shows a schematic partial cross-sectional view of a rotating electrical machine 10 having an axis of rotation X. In the example considered, the rotating electrical machine 10 comprises a stator 2 and a rotor 3 in a housing. The rotor 3 is able to interact with the stator 2. The stator 2 rotates about axis X. The housing comprises a rear bearing 5, a front bearing 6, and a tubular spacer 7. In the example considered, the tubular spacer 7 is clamped between the rear bearing 5 and the front bearing 6, for example, by means of tie rods 61 between the first bearing 5 and the second bearing 6. The stator is fixed inside the housing, for example, press-fitted into the tubular spacer 7.
[0095] For the purposes of the invention, unless otherwise specified, the terms "radial" and "radially" are understood with respect to the X axis. The terms "axial" and "axially" mean in the direction of the X axis.
[0096] In an example not shown of the invention, the tubular spacer includes a cooling chamber in which a coolant circulates.
[0097] In the example of [Fig.2], there is no tubular spacer and the stator is clamped between the rear bearing 5 and the front bearing 6.
[0098] In the example considered, the stator 2 comprises a frame 9 and a plurality of windings 8. The frame 9 comprises, for example, a first stack of magnetic laminations. The frame 9 defines a plurality of slots 31 distributed around the axis X. The frame having a first axial end 18, located at the rear and a second axial end 19, located at the front. The notches 31 extend from the first axial end to the second axial end. The notches 31 are open radially inwards.
[0099] In the example considered, each winding 8 is powered via a dedicated electrical power electronic circuit by means of which corresponding phase currents can be individually generated and introduced into the windings so as to define a plurality of magnetic poles and a plurality of phases in each pole pair. The stator power supply and the stator structure will be described with reference to the following figures.
[0100] In the example considered, the rotor 3 is fixed on a shaft 4 with axis X. The shaft 4 is guided in rotation by a first bearing 11 mounted in the first bearing 5 and a second bearing 12 mounted in the second bearing 6. A drive element 13, for example a pulley or a gear, is fixed to the shaft 4. The shaft 4 is guided in rotation relative to the first bearing and the second bearing by means of other known means of guiding in rotation, for example plain bearings.
[0101] In the example considered, the rotor 3 comprises a rotor body 16. The rotor body 16 extends longitudinally from a first axial end of the rotor body 16 to a second axial end of the rotor body 16. The rotor 3 further comprises a first retaining assembly 15 bearing against the first end of the rotor body 16. The rotor 3 also comprises a second retaining assembly 14 bearing against the second axial end of the rotor body 16. The rotor body 16 can then be clamped between the first retaining assembly 14 and the second retaining assembly 15.
[0102] With reference to [Fig.3], an example of an assembly 1 is now described comprising a rotating electrical machine 10, for example that described with reference to [Fig.1] or [Fig.2], and an electronic system 20 comprising a plurality of power electronic circuits 21 supplying the windings 8 so as to define a plurality of magnetic poles and a plurality of phases in each pole pair of the stator 2. Some components of the stator have been omitted from [Fig.2] for readability of the power supply.
[0103] The electronic system 20 can be mounted on the housing, in particular on the rear bearing 5, by means of fastening not shown. Alternatively, the electronic system could be located remotely from the rotating electrical machine 10. The DC voltage is, for example, stored in a battery having a nominal voltage of 12V, 48V, or a voltage that may exceed 300V, for example.
[0104] In the example considered, each electronic power circuit 21 is a bridge arm containing two power switches 23 in series. Each winding 8 is connected to the middle of each bridge arm. On either side of the winding 8, each half-bridge contains a power switch 23.
[0105] In the example considered, the stator 2 includes a shorting means 25 for connecting at least two of the windings together. Here, all the windings 8 are connected to each other by the shorting means 25. The shorting means 25 is metallic and a single piece. The shorting means 25 is located at the second axial end 19, at the end of the frame opposite to that where the power electronic circuits 21 are located.
[0106] In the example shown in [Fig. 3], each of the eight windings 8 comprises a plurality of conductive segments 22, here six per winding. Each conductive segment extends into a dedicated slot 31. Each slot 31 is therefore associated with a single winding 8. These conductive segments are connected together by an interconnecting means 65. The conductive segments 22 of the same winding are supplied in parallel via the interconnecting means 65.
[0107] The interconnecting means 25 is disposed on the side of the first axial end 18, opposite end to that where the short-circuiting means 25 is located. Thus the interconnecting means 65 allows the conducting segments 22 to be connected in parallel while the short-circuiting means 25 allows the windings 8 to be connected together.
[0108] In the example shown in [Fig. 4], each of the eight windings 8 comprises a single conductive segment 22 extending axially into a single slot 31 in the frame 9. Each slot receives a single winding, and there are as many power electronic circuits 21 as there are conductive segments 22 as there are slots 31. Here, eight. In this example, no interconnection means is required.
[0109] With reference to figures 5 to 8, we can now describe an example of a stator 2 suitable for equipping the rotating electrical machine of [Fig.1] or the whole of [Fig.2].
[0110] In the example described with reference to Figures 5 to 8, and also to [Fig. 2], the conducting segments 22 are conducting bars 30. Each conducting bar 30 is straight, made of copper or aluminum, in one piece, and occupies at least 95% of the volume of each slot. The stator 2 also includes an insulator 32 in each slot 31.
[0111] In the example considered, the rotating electrical machine 10 comprises forty-eight slots 31, eight windings and 6 conducting segments per winding.
[0112] In the example considered, each conductive bar is welded to the short-circuiting means 25.
[0113] In the example considered, the stator also includes a cooling chamber 26 suitable for receiving a cooling fluid. The cooling fluid can be water or oil. The cooling chamber 26 provides efficient cooling of the windings and the short-circuiting means 25.
[0114] In the example considered, the cooling chamber 26 and the short-circuiting means 25 are located at the same axial end of the frame 9, here the second axial end 19, while the conductive segments 22 are powered by the electronic system 20 at the first axial end 18 of the stator. The cooling chamber 26 is therefore located at an end of the frame opposite to that where the power electronic circuits 21 are located.
[0115] In the example considered, the cooling chamber 26 is delimited by a cooling means 35 fixed on the short-circuiting means 25. The cooling means includes a fluidic inlet 36 and a fluidic outlet 37 of the cooling chamber.
[0116] The cooling means is made of a non-conductive material, for example plastic.
[0117] The cooling means 35 is annular and in one piece.
[0118] In the example considered, the cooling means 35 has an inner groove 40 and an outer groove 41 cooperating with a system of clips to achieve the fastening. The clip system comprises a plurality of clips, here six inner clips 42 and six outer clips 43, distributed circumferentially. Each clip cooperates with one of the two grooves 40, 41 on the one hand and with a flat surface of the short-circuiting means 25 on the other hand to hold the cooling means 35 compressed against the short-circuiting means 25.
[0119] The staples 42, 43 are made of a non-conductive material, for example plastic.
[0120] In the example considered, the cooling means 35 comprises six shims 45 in contact with the frame 9. The shims, which are integral with the rest of the cooling means 35, axially position the cooling means. The shims 45 make surface contact with the second axial end 19 of the stator. Each shim 45 is circumferentially framed by two external clips 43.
[0121] The example considered in figures 5 to 8 is in a first embodiment of the cooling chamber 26 in which said cooling chamber 26 is delimited jointly by the short-circuiting means 25 and the cooling means 35.
[0122] In the example considered, a sealing system is disposed between the short-circuiting means 25 and the cooling means 35. The sealing system comprises a radially internal seal 50 and a radially external seal 51.
[0123] In the example considered, the short-circuiting means 25 has openings 55, each receiving one of the conductive bars 30. Each of the conductive bars 30 is disposed in the cooling chamber 26. The conductive bars pass to through the short-circuiting means 25 via the openings 55. Thus, the conductive bars 30 are in direct contact with the cooling fluid. The presence of the conductive bars 30 in the cooling chamber 25 increases the heat exchange surfaces and therefore provides efficient cooling of the windings 8.
[0124] In the example considered, more than 10% of the total length of each conductive bar 30 is disposed in the cooling chamber 26.
[0125] In the example considered, each conductive bar 30 includes an axial stop 56 for the short-circuiting means 25. This axial stop allows the short-circuiting means 25 to be stopped axially and indexed. This axial stop takes the form of a widening of the cross-section of the conductive bars 30.
[0126] In an example not shown of a second embodiment of the cooling chamber 26, said cooling chamber 26 is formed by an internal space of the cooling means. Thus, the cooling chamber is defined solely by the cooling means.
[0127] The interconnection means 65 has been omitted from Figures 5 and 6 and will now be described with reference to Figures 7 and 8.
[0128] In the example considered, the interconnection means 65 comprises a plurality of rings 66 independent of each other, here eight. Each ring 66 is in contact with all the conducting segments of the same winding but is in contact with only one winding.
[0129] The rings 66 are all identical, made of metal, and spaced apart. The rings are all circumferentially offset from each other by k * 2 * ir / (number of notches), where k is a non-zero natural number. Here, the rings are circumferentially offset by k * 2 * ir / 48.
[0130] In the example considered, the rings 66 are axially offset from one another and identical insulating spacers 67 are arranged between them. The rings 66 and the insulating spacers 67 are thus alternated and the rings axially compress the insulating spacers 67.
[0131] In the example considered, each ring 66 has a ring 68 and a plurality of radial tabs 69 coming into contact with the conductive bars 30.
[0132] In the example considered, the rings 68 are arranged radially outside the conducting bars 3 and extend into the imaginary cylinder defined by the frame. The tabs 69 are straight in the radial direction and extend inwards. Each tab is in surface contact with one of the conducting segments.
[0133] In the example considered, each ring 66 has two tabs 69 for each conductive bar. The two tabs 69 circumferentially frame the conductive bars 30. Here, the two tabs 69 associated with the same conductive bar meet to form a connection passage 70. These connection passages 70 allow the rings 66 to be supported by the conductive bars 30.
[0134] In the example considered, one conductor bar of each winding 8 is axially longer than the others. Each of these power supply conductor bars 75 supplies power to the windings 8. These power supply conductor bars 75 are connected to the electronic system 20, in particular to the power electronic circuit 21. These power supply conductor bars 75 are 30% longer than the other conductor bars.
[0135] In the example considered, each conductive bar 30 has an axial stop 77, formed from the same material as the rest of the conductive bar. This axial stop allows the associated ring 66 to be axially secured. The axial stops consist of a widening of the cross-section of the conductive bar 30.
[0136] With reference to [Fig.2], the rear bearing 5 comprises a plurality of slots 78, each through which the supply conductor bar 75 of each winding 8 passes. The rear bearing comprises as many slots as winding 8, therefore eight.
[0137] The present invention finds applications particularly in the field of alternators, alternator-starters, electric motors or reversible machines, but it could also be applied to any type of rotating machine.
[0138] The invention is not limited to the example just described.
