Description

Title of the invention: MULTI-WHEELBASE SUPPORT FOR AUTOMOBILE BATTERY TRAY technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of motor vehicles, more particularly to the field of motor vehicle structure. Previous technique

[0002] To meet the different needs of motorists from different countries and regions of the globe, car manufacturers conventionally adapt some characteristics of the same commercially available motor vehicle model.

[0003] In this regard, it is known, for example, to adapt the wheelbase of the same motor vehicle platform and to market the latter with different wheelbases according to the marketing markets, in particular by increasing said wheelbase by adding an additional longitudinal portion on the floor, such a portion is commonly designated by a "slice X" of floor.

[0004] Although adding the "X-section" is a common practice for internal combustion engine vehicles, as it offers several economic advantages, it is not easily adaptable to vehicles equipped with an electric traction battery. Indeed, the latter require a means of adjusting the position of the battery tray on the vehicle structure according to the desired wheelbase, while also ensuring resistance to various crash protocols.

[0005] Indeed, the ability of a motor vehicle to ensure the safety of its occupants in the event of a collision is assessed by crash tests following different protocols determined by different organizations such as China NCAP and / or Euro NCAP, acronym for "European New Car Assessment Program", an independent international organization based in Brussels, Belgium.

[0006] Among the various collision protocols that electric traction motor vehicles must withstand are the frontal impact protocol against a wall, and the side impact protocol against a vertical pole, in particular at an angle of 75° and / or 90° (angle presented between the vehicle and the pole).

[0007] The published patent document FR 3 105 151 Al discloses a rear structure of a vehicle body with a polymer floor comprising a battery support held by means of two transversely elongated elements and equipped with four fixing members.

[0008] However, the solution in the document does not allow the motor vehicle to obtain satisfactory results in the various collision protocols, and does not allow the position of the battery tray to be adapted to the structure of the motor vehicle according to a desired wheelbase. Description of the invention

[0009] The present invention aims to overcome at least one of the drawbacks of the aforementioned prior art. More particularly, the invention aims to provide a simple, efficient, and economical solution for adapting the position of an electrical energy storage unit casing on the structure of motor vehicles with different wheelbases.

[0010] For this purpose, the invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising: - a passenger compartment floor with a rear seating portion which is raised and delimited, at the front, by a vertical wall and, at the rear, by a rear cross member of said passenger compartment floor; - an electrical energy storage unit, fixed under the passenger compartment floor via fastening means; remarkable in that the fastening methods include: - a fixing device attached to an outer face of the rear seat portion, to the vertical wall and to the rear cross member.

[0011] According to one embodiment, the fastening device extends longitudinally from the vertical wall to the rear cross member.

[0012] According to one embodiment, the fastening device comprises at least one stamped part with a front end fixed to an outer face of the vertical wall, a rear end fixed to the rear cross member, and a central part fixed to the outer face of the rear seat portion.

[0013] According to one embodiment, the at least one stamped part is a longitudinal profile with a U-shaped cross-section extended by two longitudinal tabs fixed directly to the outer face of the rear seat portion.

[0014] According to one embodiment, the at least one stamped part includes, at the front end, transverse tabs fixed directly to the outer face of the vertical wall, said transverse tabs being formed by extensions of the U-shaped cross-section, bent at 90°.

[0015] According to one embodiment, the U-shaped cross-section has a height between 60 and 100 mm and a width between 50 and 70 mm.

[0016] According to one embodiment, the at least one stamping comprises two parallel stampings separated from each other by a distance of between 250 and 500 mm.

[0017] According to one embodiment, the fixing device comprises a plate connecting the two stamped parts and disposed between said two stamped parts and the outer face of the rear seat portion.

[0018] According to one embodiment, the at least one stamped part has, at the rear end, a recess adjacent to the outer face of the rear seat portion and conforming to the rear cross member.

[0019] According to one embodiment, the recess corresponds to an interruption of the longitudinal tabs between the central part and the rear end of at least one stamped part.

[0020] The measures of the invention are advantageous in that the vehicle fastening device makes it possible to improve the results of said vehicle in the different collision protocols, i.e. the frontal impact protocol against a wall, and the side impact protocol against a vertical post at 75° and / or 90°.

[0021] Furthermore, the fastening device extending longitudinally on the motor vehicle between the rear crossmember and the vertical wall, also designated as the heel board, advantageously allows the longitudinal position of the electrical energy storage element box to be adapted on the motor vehicle by modifying the fastening position of said box directly on the fastening device, thus allowing the adaptation of the longitudinal fastening position of said box according to the wheelbase of the motor vehicle. [0026] Fig. 1 represents a perspective view of a motor vehicle 2 according to the invention.

[0027] The motor vehicle 2 includes a passenger compartment floor 4 having a rear seating portion 6 which is raised and delimited, at the front (along the longitudinal direction X), by a vertical wall 8, commonly referred to as: heel board 8, and at the rear, by a rear cross member 10 of said passenger compartment floor 4.

[0028] The vehicle 2 also includes a battery box 12 for an electrical energy storage element, designated as battery box 12, which is fixed under the passenger compartment floor 4 via fastening means 14.

[0029] Preferably, the fastening means 14 correspond to a fastening device 14 fixed to both the heel board 8, the rear cross member 10 and an outer face (not shown in [Fig.1]) of the rear seat portion 6. The design of the fastening device 14 will be detailed in this description.

[0030] Figure 2 shows a representation from below of the fastening device 14 fixed to the floor 4 of the motor vehicle 2 of Figure 1. Here, the outer face 6.1 of the rear seat portion 6 is shown.

[0031] With reference to [Fig.2], the fastening device 14 extends longitudinally from the heel board 8 to the rear cross member 10.

[0032] In this regard, the fastening device 14 preferably comprises two stamped pieces 14.1 each having a front end 14.2 fixed to a vertical outer face 8.1 of the heel board 8, and a rear end 14.3 directly fixed to the rear cross member 10.

[0033] Alternatively, the fastening device 14 may comprise a single stamped part 14.1 extending longitudinally to the motor vehicle 2.

[0034] The fastening device 14 also includes, on each of the two stamped parts 14.1, a central part 14.4 fixed to the outer face 6.1 of the rear seat portion 6, by means of two longitudinal tabs 14.5 of said central part 14.4.

[0035] Preferably, each stamped part 14.1 corresponds to a longitudinal profile with a U-shaped cross-section. In this configuration, the front end 14.2 preferably corresponds to transverse tabs formed by extensions of the cross-section bent at 90°.

[0036] Preferably, the stamped part 14.1 is obtained from a steel of the type: “HD380” and comprises a thickness between 1 mm and 2 mm, more preferably equal to 1.65 mm.

[0037] Preferably, the attachment of the device 14 to the floor 4 is ensured by welding, more preferably by means of weld beads or weld spots.

[0038] The fastening device 14 further includes a plate 16 connecting the two stampings 14.1 and disposed between the latter two and the outer face 6.1 of the rear seat portion 6. Preferably, the plate 16 is obtained from a steel of the type: "E275D" and includes a thickness of between 1 mm and 3 mm, more preferably equal to 1.95 mm.

[0039] Advantageously, the fastening device 14 provides rigidity to the floor 4 and thus significantly improves the performance of the motor vehicle of the invention in various collision protocols. For example, in a frontal impact, The two stamped pieces 14.1 allow the longitudinal forces to be taken up and dissipated towards the rear cross member 10, and during a lateral impact against a post, the force of said impact passes through the heel board towards the rear cross member 10 via the two stamped pieces 14.1 and the plate 16, respectively.

[0040] In addition, the fastening device 14 makes it possible to improve the vibration resistance and endurance of the motor vehicle 2.

[0041] Preferably, each of the two stamped parts 14.1 includes the same longitudinal length L between 400 and 800 mm, more preferably between 500 and 700, and even more preferably equal to 620 mm.

[0042] Advantageously, the two stamped parts 14.1 have at the rear end 14.3, a recess 14.6 corresponding to an interruption of the longitudinal tabs 14.5 between the central part 14.4 and the rear end 14.3.

[0043] In this configuration, the recess 14.6 is adjacent to the outer face 6.1 of the rear seat portion 6 and conforms to the rear cross member 10. Advantageously, the recess 14.6 allows the stampings 14.1 to extend longitudinally to the rear cross member 10 beyond a front edge 10.1 of said cross member 10.

[0044] Fig. 3 represents a cross-sectional view along axis AA of the fastening device 14 of Fig. 2.

[0045] Preferably, the two stamped parts 14.1 are parallel and separated from each other by a distance E preferably between 200 and 600 mm. More preferably between 250 and 500 mm, and even more preferably between 400 and 500 mm.

[0046] The U-shaped cross-section has a width w between 50 and 70 mm, and preferably equal to 65 mm, and includes a height h between 60 and 100 mm, more preferably equal to 80 mm.

[0047] Advantageously, the fastening device 14 includes on each of the two stamped parts 14.1 an internal face 18 allowing the battery tray to be fixed to the passenger compartment floor of the motor vehicle.

[0048] Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of the motor vehicle 2 with three different wheelbases A, B and C.

[0049] With reference to the right-hand part of [Fig.4], the motor vehicle 2 includes a wheelbase A corresponding to a maximum wheelbase of the vehicle.

[0050] In this configuration, the inner face 18 has at least two fixing holes 18.1 and preferably several holes 18.1 which may go up to ten fixing holes 18.1, so as to allow a modular screw fixing of the battery tray 12 on the floor 4 of the motor vehicle 2.

[0051] Preferably, each stamped part 14.1 comprises, on its inner face 18, four fixing holes 18.1 spaced longitudinally at least 20 mm apart, so as to allow adjustment of the wheelbase (corresponding to a longitudinal displacement) of the battery tray 12) according to a longitudinal adjustment range of at least 60 mm and up to 300 mm.

[0052] With reference to the central part of [Fig.4], the wheelbase B can, for example, be achieved by making a longitudinal displacement of the battery tray 12 towards the rear cross member 10 and by fixing it on the fixing holes 18.1 adjacent to the holes 18.1 initially used to ensure the wheelbase A.

[0053] With reference to the left part of [Fig.4], the wheelbase C corresponds to a minimum wheelbase of the motor vehicle 2, in which the battery tray 12 is closest to the rear end 14.3 of the fastening device 14 and closest to the rear crossmember 10.

[0054] It should be noted that the invention is not limited to the three wheelbase settings A, B and C only. Indeed, there can be as many possible settings as there are fixing holes 18.1 on the inner face of the stamping 14.1.

[0055] Advantageously, fixing the battery tray 12 by screwing it onto the fixing device 14 makes it considerably easier to assemble the motor vehicle 2 and to adjust the desired wheelbase, which results in a significant time saving during the production of the motor vehicle 2.

[0056] The invention is economical because it allows the continuation of the same motor vehicle platform with an adaptation of its wheelbase according to the model to be marketed.

[0057] Furthermore, improving the response of the motor vehicle of the invention to the different collision protocols makes it possible to achieve savings on reinforcements of the desired, thus achieving a gain in mass and a reduction in diversity.
