Description

Title of the invention: Method and device for rendering weather forecasts around a parked vehicle Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to methods and devices for rendering weather forecasts around a parked vehicle. Technological background

[0002] Users of vehicles, for example motor vehicles, are subject to risks of exposure to exceptional weather conditions depending on the environment in which these vehicles operate.

[0003] Weather forecasts are numerous and depend in particular on the geography of the environment in which a vehicle is driven or parked. These weather forecasts include, for example, the risks of heavy rain, strong winds, snowfall, floods, periods of ice, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, fires, etc.

[0004] One of the dangers associated with these weather forecasts for parked vehicles is the risk of losing time starting your parked vehicle or, at worst, of not being able to use your vehicle if it has suffered damage.

[0005] The current solution available to a user of a parked vehicle is to regularly consult the weather forecasts for the next few hours and / or days to come and to move their vehicle to a safer location in the event of exceptional weather phenomena in the vicinity of the place where their vehicle is currently parked. An automatic solution for broadcasting weather forecasts would allow users to protect their vehicles, for example, by moving them in the event that weather forecasts announce exceptional weather phenomena at the place where their vehicles are parked.

[0006] Summary of the present invention

[0007] An object of the present invention is to solve at least one of the problems of the technological background described above.

[0008] Another object of the present invention is to improve the dissemination of weather forecasts.

[0009] Another object of the present invention is to improve the safety of vehicles and their passengers.

[0010] According to a first aspect, the present invention relates to a method for rendering weather forecasts around a parked vehicle, said method being implemented by at least one computer, said method comprising the following steps: - detection of an event inside the vehicle; - transmission of vehicle geographic location information; - reception of weather forecast data associated with a geographic area including the geographic location of the vehicle; - detection of at least one exceptional meteorological phenomenon by comparing the received weather forecast data with criteria for selecting exceptional meteorological phenomena predefined by a use of the vehicle; - if at least one exceptional meteorological phenomenon is selected, rendering of the received weather forecast data on a rendering device on board the vehicle.

[0011] According to a variant, the event is a vehicle engine shutdown or an event programmed by a user of the vehicle.

[0012] According to a variant, the event is programmed by a user of the vehicle.

[0013] According to one variant, the rendering of the received weather forecast data comprises a display control of a set of graphic contents on at least one display screen on board the vehicle.

[0014] According to a variant, the rendering of the received weather forecast data comprises a sound rendering control of audio content on at least one loudspeaker on board the vehicle.

[0015] According to a variant, the method further comprises a step of transmitting a notification representative of the weather forecast data received to a mobile communication device of a user of the vehicle.

[0016] The present invention triggers a succession of steps if an event occurring inside the vehicle is detected. Among this succession of steps, the transmission of the geographical location data of the vehicle which makes it possible to receive geolocated weather forecasts to the vehicle, that is to say weather forecasts for the area where the vehicle is parked. The detection of at least one exceptional meteorological phenomenon by comparing the received weather forecast data with criteria for selecting exceptional meteorological phenomena predefined by a use of the vehicle, allows this user to define what he means by exceptional meteorological phenomena through user preferences. If at least one weather phenomenon is detected, rendering the weather forecast data on a device on board the vehicle allows passengers to prepare for severe weather associated with this weather forecast, for example by moving the vehicle away. of the area where it is currently parked. The present invention thus allows a user to define their own exceptional weather phenomena from weather forecast data and to automatically broadcast weather forecasts relating to an area where their vehicle is parked only if one of these phenomena is detected. The present invention therefore makes it possible to improve vehicle safety by anticipating weather phenomena that a user considers to be exceptional.

[0017] According to a variant, the event is a vehicle engine cut-off.

[0018] In this situation, the vehicle is parked and the driver is about to leave the vehicle. The method then allows the driver to be warned of possible exceptional weather phenomena based on geolocated weather forecasts and allows him to move his vehicle to a safer location.

[0019] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a device for rendering weather forecasts around a parked vehicle, the device comprising a memory associated with a processor configured for implementing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.

[0020] According to a third aspect, the present invention relates to a vehicle, for example of the automobile type, comprising a device as described above according to the second aspect of the present invention.

[0021] According to a fourth aspect, the present invention relates to a computer program which comprises instructions adapted for executing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention, in particular when the computer program is executed by at least one processor.

[0022] Such a computer program may use any programming language, and be in the form of source code, object code, or intermediate code between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form, or in any other desirable form.

[0023] According to a fifth aspect, the present invention relates to a computer-readable recording medium on which is recorded a computer program comprising instructions for carrying out the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.

[0024] On the one hand, the recording medium may be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium may comprise a storage means, such as a ROM memory, a CD-ROM or a microelectronic circuit type ROM memory, or a magnetic recording means or a hard disk.

[0025] On the other hand, this recording medium may also be a transmissible medium such as an electrical or optical signal, such a signal being able to be conveyed via an electrical or optical cable, by conventional or terrestrial radio or by self-directed laser beam or by other means. The computer program according to the present invention can in particular be downloaded from an Internet-type network.

[0026] Alternatively, the recording medium may be an integrated circuit in which the computer program is incorporated, the integrated circuit being adapted to perform or to be used in performing the method in question. Brief description of the figures

[0027] Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will emerge from the description of the particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiments of the present invention below, with reference to the appended figures 1 to 3, in which:

[0028] [Fig-1] schematically illustrates an environment of a parked vehicle, according to a particular and non-limiting example of embodiment of the present invention;

[0029] [Fig.2] schematically illustrates a device configured for rendering forecasts weather around a parked vehicle of [Fig.l], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention;

[0030] [Fig.3] illustrates a flowchart of the different stages of a rendering process weather forecasts around the parked vehicle of [Fig.l], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[0031] Description of the examples of embodiment

[0032] A method and a device for rendering weather forecasts around a parked vehicle will now be described in the following with joint reference to Figures 1 to 3. The same elements are identified with the same reference signs throughout the description which follows.

[0033] According to a particular and non-limiting example of embodiment of the present invention, the rendering of weather forecasts around a parked vehicle is conditioned by the occurrence of an event inside the vehicle. When this event occurs, an on-board device of the vehicle transmits geographical location information of the parked vehicle to a remote device, unloaded from the vehicle. This geographical location information is for example obtained from a receiver of a satellite geolocation system on-board the vehicle. The transmission of this geographical location information is advantageously implemented via a wireless link, for example via a terrestrial cellular network. The vehicle's on-board device that transmitted the geographic location information receives weather forecast data for the geographic area including the geographic position of the parked vehicle indicated by the geographic location data. Receiving this data triggers the detection of at least one exceptional weather phenomenon by comparing the forecast data. weather forecast data received with criteria for selecting exceptional weather phenomena predefined by a vehicle use. If at least one exceptional weather phenomenon is selected, the weather forecast data is rendered on a rendering device, for example a display screen, embedded in the vehicle. The weather forecast data is thus geolocated and a vehicle user is informed if a weather phenomenon that this user considers exceptional will occur soon in the parking area.

[0034] The on-board device corresponds for example to a set of computers comprising at least one vehicle computer. According to another example, the on-board device corresponds to a mobile communication device (for example a smartphone, a tablet or a connected object) present in the vehicle and optionally connected in wireless communication to the vehicle. According to another example, the on-board device corresponds to a system formed of one or more vehicle computers connected in wireless communication with a mobile communication device.

[0035] [Fig. 1] schematically illustrates an environment 1 of a parked vehicle 10, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[0036] The vehicle 10 corresponds for example to a vehicle with a thermal engine, with electric motor(s) or even a hybrid vehicle with a thermal engine and one or more electric motors. The vehicle 10 thus corresponds for example to a land vehicle, for example an automobile or a utility vehicle.

[0037] According to a particular embodiment, the vehicle 10 has one or more computers on board. These computers form, for example, a multiplexed architecture for the implementation of various services useful for the proper functioning of the vehicle and for assisting the driver and / or the passengers of the vehicle in controlling the vehicle 10 via the control of systems on board the vehicle 10, for example a system for displaying graphic content and / or a system for rendering audio content and / or a system for geolocating the vehicle. The computers communicate and exchange data with each other via one or more computer buses, for example a communication bus of the data bus type CAN (from the English "Controller Area Network" or in French "Réseau de contrôles"), CAN FD (from the English "Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate" or in French "Réseau de contrôles à débit de données flexible"), FlexRay (according to the ISO 17458 standard), LIN (from the English "Local Interconnect Network" or in French "Réseau interconnecté local") or Ethernet (according to the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard).

[0038] According to a particular embodiment, the vehicle 10 carries a geolocation system comprising, for example, a receiver of a geolocation system. by satellite, for example a receiver of the GPS system (from the English "Global Positioning System" or in French "Système mondial de positioning") or a receiver of the Galileo system.

[0039] The environment 1 of the vehicle 10 further comprises a mobile communication infrastructure, for example an infrastructure of a V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) type network, with which the vehicle 10 is configured to communicate data. The communication infrastructure 1 implements, for example, communications according to LTE (Long-Term Evolution), LTE-Advanced (Long-Term Evolution - Advanced), C-V2X (Cellular - Vehicle to Everything) technology which relies on 4G and / or 5G, based on LTE.

[0040] For this purpose, the vehicle 10 carries a communication device corresponding for example to a telematic control unit, called TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit”) associated with one or more antennas.

[0041] The vehicle 10 advantageously communicates using a so-called V2X communication system, for example based on the 3GPP LTE-V or IEEE 802.1 lp standards of ITS G5. In such a V2X communication system, each vehicle carries a node to enable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and / or vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) communication.

[0042] The network infrastructure comprises, for example, communication devices 110 corresponding to relay antennas and / or roadside units (RUs), each corresponding to a node of the network.

[0043] The antenna or UBR 110 is advantageously connected to one or more remote servers 111, 112, for example via the “cloud” 100 (or in French “nuage”), via a wired and / or wireless connection. The antenna or UBR 110 is thus configured to act as a relay between the “cloud” 100 (and the remote server 111) and the vehicle 10.

[0044] The remote server 112 associated or connected to the antenna or UBR 110 corresponds for example to a peripheral computing device, to a device of the MEC type (from the English “Mobile Edge Computing” or “Multi-Access Edge Computing”) which makes it possible to move the computing traffic and the services from the centralized “cloud” 100 to an edge network, closer to the users or client devices (for example the vehicle 10). Instead of sending all the data to be processed in the “cloud”, an edge network analyzes, processes and / or stores the data. Collecting and processing the data close to the users reduces the latency of the communications and increases the bandwidth available to each user by avoiding the bottleneck effect when all data is redirected to the cloud or emitted from the cloud 100. The standards governing the operation of the architecture and MEC-compatible devices are defined by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). The peripheral computing device 112 is connected to the cloud infrastructure 100 (for example, to cloud servers 100 such as the server 111) via a wired backbone connection, for example Ethernet or fiber optic.

[0045] According to a particular embodiment, the vehicle 10 carries one or more mobile communication devices such as one or more smartphones, that is to say that this or these mobile communication devices are in the vehicle 10 when the latter is traveling or is parked. A mobile communication device is advantageously configured to communicate data with the “cloud” via the network infrastructure of the environment 1, for example via a wireless connection of the LTE 4G or 5G type. A mobile communication device is further configured to communicate data with the vehicle 10 when a wireless or wired connection is established between this mobile communication device and the vehicle 10. A wireless connection is for example of the Wifi® or Bluetooth® type. The mobile communication device comprises for example a display screen. The mobile communication device comprises, for example, a receiver of a satellite geolocation system.

[0046] According to a particular example, the on-board mobile communication device is configured for rendering and displaying AR (Augmented Reality) content. The display of AR content comprises, for example, the display of virtual objects on the screen of the mobile communication device in addition to so-called real content, i.e., real-world content acquired by a camera. For example, in AR mode, an image of the real world acquired by a camera arranged on the back of the mobile communication device is displayed in real time, i.e., simultaneously with the acquisition, one or more graphic objects (text, icon, for example) being displayed simultaneously overlaid on the real content, for example.

[0047] According to a particular exemplary embodiment, the vehicle 10 has an information rendering system controlled by a computer of the on-board system of the vehicle 10, for example by an IVI type computer (from the English “In-Vehicle Infotainment” or in French “Infodivertissement monté”).

[0048] Such a system comprises for example one or more display screens, for example integrated into the dashboard of the vehicle 10. A display screen corresponds for example to: - an LCD type screen (from the English “Liquid Crystal Display” or in French “Display à cristals liquide”), for example of the TFT type (from the English “Thin-Film Transistor” or in French “Transistor en film mince”); - an OLED type screen (from the English “Organic Light-Emitting Diode” or in French “Organic Electroluminescent Diode”); - a head-up display type screen (also called Head Up Display, known as VTH or HUD (from the English “Head Up Display” or in French “Display Tête Haute”); or - a pair of transparent glasses (from the English “see-through glasses”) for displaying AR content (from the English “Augmented Reality” or in French “Réalité augmenteée”).

[0049] The display screen(s) are for example configured for the display of augmented reality (AR) content under the control of the IVI computer for example.

[0050] The rendering system comprises, for example, one or more loudspeakers (for example, one or more display screens), each configured for the reproduction or rendering of sounds and / or voice instructions.

[0051] The display screen(s) and / or the speaker(s) are advantageously configured and used for rendering content(s) of a human-machine interface (HMI) for rendering information intended for the driver and / or passengers of the vehicle 10.

[0052] A process for rendering weather forecasts around a parked vehicle, for example the vehicle 10, is advantageously implemented by a device on board the vehicle 10.

[0053] This device corresponds for example to one or more computers (for example by one or more processors of this or these computers in relation to a memory) of the on-board system of the vehicle 10.

[0054] According to another exemplary embodiment, the device corresponds to a mobile communication device.

[0055] According to yet another example, the device corresponds to a system formed of one or more computers of the vehicle 10 connected in wireless communication with the mobile communication device.

[0056] In a first operation, an event inside the vehicle 10 is detected.

[0057] According to a variant, the event is an engine cut-off of the vehicle 10.

[0058] According to a variant, the event is a press on a touch interface of a screen on which a notification icon is displayed, a pronouncement of a voice command or by any other means known to those skilled in the art.

[0059] According to another variant, the event is programmed by a user of the vehicle 10.

[0060] For example, the user can activate / deactivate the process from user preferences entered into a vehicle configuration system 10.

[0061] For example, the user can define a set of events that trigger the operations of the process. Among these events, we can cite the end of a journey programmed on a navigation system, the vehicle is located at a predefined location, a period expires, that is to say that the event occurs every 12 hours or every day at the same time for example, etc.

[0062] In a second operation, geographic location information of the vehicle 10 is transmitted to the “cloud” 100, for example via a wireless link. The geographic location information corresponds, for example, to a set of coordinates (for example latitude and longitude) obtained from a receiver of a satellite geolocation system of the vehicle 10 and / or the mobile communication device.

[0063] Upon receipt of this geographical location information for the vehicle 10, the server 111 checks whether weather forecasts have been issued for the area in which the vehicle 10 is located for the next few hours and / or days.

[0064] If no weather forecast is available, the process ends.

[0065] If weather forecasts are accessible, the server 111 transmits weather forecast data to the device implementing the process.

[0066] In a third operation, the weather forecast data is received for example via the wireless link, this data being associated with the geographical location information in the sense that the weather forecast data relates to the geographical area comprising the geographical location of the vehicle 10.

[0067] The weather forecast data includes, for example, textual and / or graphical data. The weather forecast data includes, for example, an identifier of the type of exceptional weather phenomenon (heavy rain, strong winds, snowfall, floods, ice storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, fires, etc.), data identifying the geographical area concerned (for example, the roads affected), data on the time or time interval expected for the exceptional weather phenomenon, safety instructions or guidelines, data on the level of risk, data on the level or intensity of the weather phenomenon, etc.

[0068] In a fourth operation, the received weather forecast data are compared with criteria for selecting exceptional weather phenomena predefined by a user of the vehicle.

[0069] For example, criteria for selecting exceptional weather phenomena are wind strength, amount of rain per hour, level of a vigilance warning, etc.

[0070] The criteria for selecting exceptional meteorological phenomena can, for example, be chosen by a user of the vehicle from user preferences which are entered from an on-board touch screen of the vehicle 10, for example.

[0071] The criteria for selecting exceptional meteorological phenomena can be stored in an on-board memory of the vehicle 10.

[0072] If no exceptional weather phenomenon is selected, the process stops.

[0073] If at least one exceptional weather phenomenon is selected, the process continues.

[0074] In a fifth operation, the received weather forecast data is rendered on a rendering device on board the vehicle 10.

[0075] According to a variant, the rendering of the received weather forecast data comprises a sound rendering control of audio content on at least one loudspeaker on board the vehicle 10 and / or one or more loudspeakers of the mobile communication device.

[0076] According to a variant, the rendering of the weather forecast data comprises a display control of a set of graphic contents on at least one display screen of the vehicle 10 and / or on a display screen of the mobile communication device.

[0077] Rendering the received weather forecast data may include processing this data before rendering it.

[0078] The rendering includes, for example, a display of a message describing a selected exceptional meteorological phenomenon, the geographical area concerned, the time instant of the phenomenon, vigilance advice, etc.

[0079] The rendering includes, for example, the display of a hyperlink pointing to a detailed weather page.

[0080] The rendering includes, for example, the display of an icon representative of a selected exceptional meteorological phenomenon.

[0081] Rendering of weather forecast data may include both display control and sound rendering control.

[0082] According to a variant of the process, in a sixth operation, a notification representative of the received weather forecast data is sent to a mobile communication device of a user of the vehicle.

[0083] According to a variant, in a seventh operation, a user of the vehicle confirms his choice of the parking location of the vehicle 10, for example by pressing an icon displayed on an on-board display screen of the vehicle 10 or of the mobile communication device. The process can then stop as long as the vehicle does not change parking location.

[0084] [Fig.2] schematically illustrates a device configured for rendering weather forecast around a parked vehicle of [Fig.l], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[0085] The device 2 corresponds for example to a device on board the vehicle 10, for example a computer.

[0086] According to another example, the device 2 corresponds to a mobile communication device.

[0087] The device 2 is for example configured for the implementation of the operations described with regard to [Fig. 1] and / or the steps of the method described with regard to [Fig. 3].
