Description

Title of the invention: Torque measuring device intended to be removably mounted on a rotating drive head.

[0001] The invention lies in the technical field of the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater and relates more specifically to a sludge scraping device used to move sedimentary materials lying at the bottom of a settling tank in order to allow their evacuation.

[0002] Circular settling basins or tanks are usually equipped with rotating sludge scraping devices. One of these scraping devices is intended to scrape the sludge from the bottom of the basin in order to carry it towards a discharge or to homogenize and concentrate the sludge in this tank while carrying it towards this discharge.

[0003] In the settling tanks currently being produced, these scraping devices are driven by a geared motor, whether or not equipped with a slewing ring. In addition, such an assembly generally comprises a reducer, then forming with the motor a geared motor assembly, making it possible to increase tenfold the torque produced and to overcome the resistive torque linked to the scraping of the sludge. In fact, the reducer functions as a speed converter at the output of the motor into a torque applied to the scraping blades. And, in most application cases, the reducer reduces the rotation speed of the motor and at the same time transmits a significantly higher torque, towards the scraping blades, than that which the motor alone can provide.

[0004] The scraping devices also comprise, in a known manner, a traction and / or compression safety device making it possible to protect the geared motor and the metal structure against any accidental overload or blocking of the scraping means of the scraping device.

[0005] This safety device is interposed in the scraping device, and particularly between the frame and the geared motor. More precisely, the safety device is installed in place of the anti-rotation props commonly used on these reducers. The device provides anti-rotation of the reducer under the action of the scraping force. Therefore, the safety device makes it possible to block any contrary movement coming from the reducer by transmitting an alert when the safety device detects an excessive force coming from an abnormal scraping force.

[0006] However, this safety device does not currently allow the forces generated by the drive head in the direction of the geared motor to be measured in real time since it only detects an anomaly from an alert threshold. In addition, there are a multitude of scraping devices of varied architecture. Therefore, a device of safety suitable for a first scraping device is not suitable for a second scraping device and is therefore difficult to transfer to different scraping devices.

[0007] However, in a dimensioning problem, it is necessary to be able to measure in real time, easily and without impacting the system currently operating. Indeed, the management and measurement of the torque causing the scraping of the scraping device is necessary today in order to highlight dimensioning defects in the scraping device or the settling tank or even the presence of a denser muddy zone and heterogeneity of the sludge bed.

[0008] For example, today, in a problem of controlling the sizing of settling tanks and scraping devices, it is necessary to know the following parameters: - The torque at the drive head during its full rotation at any time; - The angular velocity of the scraper blades during the complete rotation of the drive head and at any time; - The mud concentration during the complete rotation of the drive head and at any time, so as to be able to identify a denser area and to be able to define the cause of this abnormally higher density; - Or the level of the overall sludge bed.

[0009] However, since the overall scraping system is a large system that needs to be able to operate continuously, it is difficult to measure this data at present.

[0010] The invention aims to overcome all or part of the problems mentioned above by proposing a portable device for measuring scraping torques. The invention also proposes a mud scraping device comprising such a portable device for measuring the scraping torque exerted by the scraping device. This portable device for measuring scraping torques is configured to be incorporated into the drive of the scraping device within a short time in place of the initial safety device of the scraping device. The portable device for measuring scraping torques according to the invention therefore allows rapid installation of a measuring means without impacting the proper functioning of the scraping device on which it is incorporated.

[0011] The portable scraping torque measuring device according to the invention is also capable of measuring and recording in real time the torque data driving the drive crown or the angular speed of the scraper blades, and consequently, the scraping force required depending on the operating conditions. operation of the structure such as sludge concentration, type of fluid scraped or even the height of the sludge bed.

[0012] To this end, the invention relates to a torque measuring device intended to be removably mounted on a rotary drive head, the removable torque measuring device comprising: - a safety device configured to generate mechanical safety and limit axial force, - a security transformation device configured to transform the mechanical security of the security organ into digital security, - an axial force measuring device, the measuring device being configured to measure the axial force with respect to the digital safety.

[0013] According to one aspect of the invention, the safety transformation device comprises a strain gauge configured to detect the axial force and a threshold relay configured to generate at least one digital alert threshold, the at least one digital alert threshold being digitally determined with respect to a deformation value of the strain gauge.

[0014] According to one aspect of the invention, the safety transformation device comprises a digital transposition table, the digital transposition table being configured to transpose at least one strain gauge deformation value into a digital value according to a predetermined transposition rule.

[0015] According to one aspect of the invention, the torque measuring device comprises a force recorder configured to store the axial force.

[0016] According to one aspect of the invention, the torque measuring device comprises a power source for the safety transformation device and the measuring member.

[0017] The invention also relates to a sludge scraping device configured to move sedimentary residues in a settling tank, the scraping device comprising: - At least one arm equipped with a scraper blade, arranged in a central pit of the settling tank and in contact with the sedimentary residues, configured to move the sedimentary residues towards a discharge zone of the settling tank, - A chassis connected to the settling tank, - A rotary drive head of the at least one arm, the rotary drive head being connected at a first end to the at least one arm and at a second end to the chassis, the rotary drive head comprising: A motor configured to generate force, • A reducer arranged between the motor and the drive ring gear and configured to generate rotation of the drive ring gear from the force of the motor, • the torque measuring device, the torque measuring device being connected to the reducer by a first fixing and to the chassis by a second fixing.

[0018] The invention also relates to a method of installing a torque measuring device in a scraping device, the method comprising the following steps: - Power off the drive head, - Dismantling of a pre-existing safety device from the scraping device, - Mounting of the torque measuring device in the scraping device, - Tensioning of the drive head, - Choice of observation parameter and sampling frequency, the observation parameter being the axial force or an angular velocity of the scraper blade or a concentration of sedimentary residues in the settling tank, - Recording of the observation parameter over a predefined period.

[0019] The invention will be better understood and other advantages will appear on reading the detailed description of an embodiment given as an example, a description illustrated by the attached drawing in which:

[0020] [Fig.l] [Fig.l] represents a scraping device comprising a portable device for measuring scraping torques according to the invention;

[0021] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] shows an enlarged view of the scraping device and the device portable removable scraping torque measurement device according to the invention;

[0022] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] represents the scraping device of [Fig.2];

[0023] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] represents a method of installing a portable device of measurement of the removable scraping torque in a pre-existing scraping device according to the invention.

[0024] For the sake of clarity, the same elements will bear the same references in the different figures.

[0025] [Fig.l] shows a sludge scraping device 1 installed in a settling tank 2. The settling tank 2 comprises a central pit 20. This central pit 20 represents the area in which the so-called heavy sedimentary residues rest during settling in the settling tank 2. The central pit 20 is generally circular as shown in [Fig.l]. Alternatively, the central pit 20 is of any shape such as, for example, quadrilateral or triangular. The scraping device 1 is arranged inside the settling tank settling tank 2 and is configured to move the sediment residues into a settling tank 2.

[0026] To do this, the scraping device 1 comprises at least one arm 10 equipped with a scraper blade 100, arranged in the central pit 20 of the settling tank 2 so as to be in contact with the sedimentary residues. The arm 10 is configured to move, by means of the scraper blade 100, the sedimentary residues towards a discharge zone 22 of the settling tank 2. Alternatively, the at least one arm 10 comprises several scraper blades 100, as shown in [Fig.l]. In the remainder of the description, only one arm 10 is cited. However, several arms 10 can be envisaged. And, similarly, only one scraper blade 100 is cited. However, several scraper blades 100 can be envisaged as shown in [Fig.l].

[0027] The scraping device 1 comprises a frame 11 connected to the settling tank 2.

[0028] The scraping device 1 also comprises a rotating drive head 12. And, according to the example of [Fig.l], the rotary drive head 12 is a central drive head. The rotary drive head 12 is connected at a first end 12' to the at least one arm 10 and at a second end 12” to the frame 11 so as to ensure fixing of the rotary drive head 12. The rotary drive head 12 rotates the arm 10 in the settling tank 2 so that the scraper blade 100 of the arm 10 moves circularly in the central pit 20. The rotation of the rotary drive head 12 is transmitted to the arm 10 by means of an axis 14. This axis 14 can advantageously coincide with an axis of rotation A1 of the rotary drive head 12.

[0029] The axis 14 supports the arm 10 and the scraper blade 100 making it possible to scrape the central pit 20. The scraper blade 100 which has the shape of a vertical planar blade inclined relative to a plane crossing the axis of rotation Al so as to make it possible to carry away the sedimentary residues during the circular movement of the scraper blade 100.

[0030] Alternatively, the axis 14 is parallel and distinct from the rotation axis AL. This configuration can be envisaged when two axes operate inside the same settling tank. Therefore, the central pit is divided into two scraping zones dedicated respectively to the two axes and to the two arms 10 respectively connected to the axes. According to another variant, the axis 14 is secant to the rotation axis AL.

[0031] In order to allow the rotary drive of the arm 10, the rotary drive head 12, shown in [Fig.2], comprises: - a 120 motor configured to generate a predefined force, - a drive crown 122 connected to the arm 10 via of axis 14 and driven in rotation by motor 120. The crown drive 122 is configured to drive the arm 10 in rotation by transmitting its rotational torque to the arm 10. In other words, the drive ring 122 makes it possible to transmit the force supplied by the motor 120 to the arm 10, this force becoming a rotational torque.

[0032] The rotary drive head 12 also comprises a reduction gear 124 disposed between the motor 120 and the drive ring 122. The reduction gear 124 is configured to generate rotation of the drive ring 122 from the force of the motor 120. More specifically, the reduction gear 124 is capable of modifying the ratio between the force provided by the motor 120 and the rotational torque of the drive ring 122.

[0033] Furthermore, it should be noted that it may be envisaged not to use the drive ring 122 and that the reducer 124 is directly connected to the arm 10 so as to directly drive the arm 10 in rotation. This configuration is particularly envisaged when the torque generated at the output of the reducer 124 is sufficiently large to drive the rotation of the arm 10. The drive ring 122 may be incorporated when it is necessary to induce a greater torque at the arm 10.

[0034] Alternatively, the rotary drive head 12 may be a peripheral drive base. A peripheral drive base is a rotary drive head connected directly to a peripheral raceway extending at the wall of the settling tank 2, at the periphery of the rotation axis AL. The peripheral drive base then comprises only the motor 120 and a reducer 124, which can together form a geared motor, making it possible to move the rotary drive head along the supporting structure, namely the wall of the settling tank 2. More precisely, the peripheral drive base is able to move on the supporting structure by means of a drive walkway, itself driven by the peripheral drive base.

[0035] A peripheral drive head is a rotating drive head operating at low speed and high torque, making it possible to avoid using a drive crown.

[0036] The rotary drive head 12 also includes a torque measuring device 14 for removably mounting on the rotary drive head 12. The scraping torque measuring device 14 is a portable device capable of being mounted on any rotary drive head in a reasonably short time.

[0037] The removable torque measuring device 14 comprises a safety member 140 configured to generate a mechanical safety. More precisely, the safety member 140 takes the form of a limiting arm and is connected to the reducer 124 according to a first fixing 140' and to the chassis 11 according to a second fixing 140”. The safety member 140 is thus configured to limit an axial force between the reducer 124 and the chassis 11 and allows the torque measuring device 14 to be connected to the reducer 124 and to the chassis 11.

[0038] The removable torque measuring device 14 also comprises a safety transformation device 142 configured to transform the mechanical safety of the safety member 140 into a digital safety. More specifically, the safety transformation device 142 comprises a strain gauge 142' connected to the safety member 140 and configured to detect the axial force between the reducer 124 and the chassis 11. The strain gauge 142' thus makes it possible to transcribe, according to an electrical signal, the axial tensile or compressive force that the safety member 140 undergoes by means of a tensile or compressive deformation value. In other words, if a strain gauge 142' is compressed, the electrical resistance of the strain gauge 142' decreases and if the strain gauge 142' is stretched, the electrical resistance of the strain gauge 142' increases. Therefore, a variable voltage at the strain gauge 142' can be measurable. This voltage thus depends on the resistance generated by the strain gauge 142'. The safety transformation device 142 also comprises a threshold relay 142" configured to generate at least one digital alert threshold, the at least one digital alert threshold being digitally determined with respect to the deformation value of the strain gauge 142'.

[0039] As an indicative example, the strain gauge 142' may be a “SENSY ®” strain gauge, registered trademark, which returns a 0-10V or 4-20mA signal when a force is applied to it.

[0040] The torque measuring device 14 also comprises a member 144 for measuring the axial force between the reducer 124 and the chassis 11. The measuring device 144 is configured to measure the axial force between the reducer 124 and the chassis 11 with respect to the digital security generated by the torque measuring device 14.

[0041] More specifically, the threshold relay 142” can for example generate digital alert thresholds in the form of a threshold voltage to be compared with the voltage measurable at the strain gauge 142' by the measuring member 144. The threshold relay 142” can thus, by way of an indicative example, generate a first digital alert threshold defining a first threshold voltage to be compared with the voltage measurable at the strain gauge 142' indicating operation of the rotary drive head 12 according to an abnormal scraping torque. The threshold relay 142” can also, by way of indicative example, generate a second digital alert threshold defining a second threshold voltage, higher than the first threshold voltage of the first alert threshold, to be compared with the voltage measurable at the strain gauge 142' indicating operation of the rotary drive head 12 or the peripheral drive bed at a critical scraping torque which may cause significant damage to the components of the rotary drive head or to the chassis 11.

[0042] The axial force measuring member 144 therefore makes it possible to measure the axial force in real time by means of the tension measurable at the strain gauge 142'.

[0043] Furthermore, the safety transformation device 142 may comprise a digital transposition table 142”’ configured to transpose at least one strain value of the strain gauge 142’ into a digital value according to a predetermined transposition rule. The digital transposition table 142’” thus makes it possible to transcribe the value of the axial force measured at the safety member 142’ according to a predefined value scale. Preferably, the predefined value scale is a voltage value scale varying between a minimum voltage, transcribing a minimum axial force and a maximum voltage transcribing a maximum axial force or a maximum scraping torque acceptable for the rotary drive head 12. As an indicative example, the minimum voltage may be 0 Volts and the maximum voltage may be 10 Volts.

[0044] The transcription rule making it possible to go from a value of an axial force or a measurable scraping torque to a tension value measured at the level of the safety member 140 can be a proportional ratio between the axial force value, the minimum tension value and the maximum tension value.

[0045] Alternatively, the transcription rule may be an exponential rule varying between the minimum voltage value and the maximum voltage value or a logarithmic rule.

[0046] Therefore, according to a configuration where the transcription rule is a proportional ratio and the transcription table 142'” is a voltage value scale varying between a minimum voltage of 0 volts and a maximum voltage of 10 volts, it can be envisaged that the first threshold voltage is 5 volts and that the second threshold voltage is 10 volts transcribing the maximum force value that the components of the rotary drive head can withstand, i.e. 10 deca newtons.

[0047] Alternatively, the first digital alert threshold may be a voltage equivalent to a physical value of an axial force representing two-thirds of the nominal torque generated by the reducer 124. And as the second digital alert threshold may be a voltage equivalent to a force value representing twice the nominal torque generated by the reducer 124.

[0048] The transcription table 142'” is also configurable according to the rotary drive heads 12 and the scraping devices 1 on which the torque measuring device 14 is incorporated.

[0049] As stated previously, the torque measuring device 14 is connected to the reducer 124 according to the first attachment 140' and to the chassis 11 according to the second attachment 140" so that the reducer 124 is connected according to two links: a drive link with the drive ring 122 by means of which the reducer 124 drives the drive head 122 in rotation and a locking link to the chassis 11 making it possible to prevent any counter rotation in the direction of the reducer 124. Furthermore, in a configuration without a drive ring, the drive link is therefore made directly with the reducer 124. Indeed, the removable torque measuring device 14 is configured to limit an axial force generated which could impact the reducer 124. The torque measuring device 14 is thus configured, by means of the safety member 140, to be a traction and / or compression arm between chassis 11 and reducer 124.In other words, the torque measuring device 14 exerts a reaction to any reaction to the scraping torque coming from the arm 10 and transforming into an axial force between the reducer 124 and the chassis 11 thus making it possible to cancel out any unwanted influence, that is to say, by way of indicative example, a significant resistive torque of the arm 10 or even an imperfection of the settling tank 2 such as a protrusion forming a projection relative to the scraper blade 100, on the reducer 124 like a retaining stop.

[0050] Alternatively, the torque measuring device 14 may comprise any force detector or force sensor configured to measure the axial force generated between the reducer 124 and the chassis 11 instead of the strain gauge 142”. Thus, it is possible to know at any time whether the arm 10 and the scraper blade 100 experience any resistance from the central pit 200 which then results in resistance from the fixed chassis 11 against the torque produced by the reducer 124 and therefore an axial force in the direction of the reducer 124 itself and absorbed by the torque measuring device 14.

[0051] Advantageously, the torque measuring device 146 is removable and transportable. In other words, the torque measuring device 14 can be installed in place of any safety member of a scraping device 1 in a short time. Indeed, the installation time of the torque measuring device 14 is less than half an hour. Therefore, the scraping device 1 is advantageously immobilized for a very short period, the immobilization time of the scraping device 1 in the settling tank 2 allowing the sedimentary residues to accumulate in the central pit 20 and potentially generate excessive resistance being relatively short. Indeed, switching off the scraping device 1 an undesirable measure since this immobilization has many disadvantages.

[0052] The torque measuring device 14 is also configured to induce a stop of the scraping device 1 when the axial force measured at the reducer 124 is greater than a predefined threshold. As an indicative example, as stated previously, when the safety transformation device 142 detects that the first digital alert threshold is exceeded and therefore that the axial force measured at the reducer 124 is abnormally greater than this first digital alert threshold, the torque measuring device 14 is able to impose a forced extraction of the sediments included in the settling tank 2 so as to theoretically reduce the resistance with respect to the scraper blade 100.And, when the safety transformation device 142 detects that the second digital alert threshold is exceeded and therefore that the axial force measured at the reducer 124 is critical for the operation of the scraping device 1, the torque measuring device 14 is able to cut off the power supply to the scraping device 1 so that the scraping device 1 is stopped before the destruction of one of the components of the scraping device 1. The safety transformation device 142 may also comprise an alarm 146 configured to transmit a first alarm signal when the first digital alert threshold. The alarm 146 may also be configured to transmit a second alarm signal when the second digital alert threshold is exceeded.

[0053] According to a variant shown in [Fig. 3], the torque measuring device 14 may comprise a force recorder 1266 configured to store the axial force generated at the reducer 124. The torque measuring device 14 is thus capable of storing the axial force and the resistance against the torque generated by the reducer 124. Therefore, it is possible, thanks to the torque measuring device 14 and the force recorder 1266, to know the resistance against the scraping torque generated by the reducer 124 over a given period in order, for example, to be able to consider resizing the scraping device 1 if, for example, the resistance observed during this period is very significant.

[0054] The torque measuring device 14 may also comprise a power source 1268 in order to power the force recorder 1266. The power source 1268 is a source suitable for connection to the network, i.e. 220 Volts. The torque measuring device 14 thus has the advantage of being easy to power.

[0055] According to a variant, the threshold relay 142”, the digital transposition table 142'”, the measuring device 144, the force recorder 1266 and the power source 1268 can be included in a case 4 so as to make the assembly more easily transportable. The case 4 can also be waterproof so as to prevent the electronic components, namely the 142” threshold relay, the 1266 force recorder and the 1268 power source, are protected from water.

[0056] According to a variant, the torque measuring device 14 comprises a display 1269 of the measurement of the axial force of the measuring member 144. The display 1269 makes it possible to obtain a visual presentation of the axial force.

[0057] [Fig. 4] represents a method of installing 1000 the removable torque measuring device 14 in a pre-existing scraping device 1 according to the invention already comprising a safety device. The installation method according to the invention comprises the following steps: - Power off drive head 12 (step 1001), - Dismantling (step 1002) of the pre-existing safety device of the device scraping 1. The pre-existing safety device is generally installed on the drive head 12, i.e. between the chassis 11 and the reducer 124, by means of two pins. These pins are to be removed in order to allow the dismantling of the pre-existing safety device, - Mounting (step 1003) of the torque measuring device 14 in place of the safety device. The mounting includes in particular the installation of the safety member 140 in place of the pre-existing safety device as well as the connection of the safety transformation device 142, the measuring member 144, the force recorder 1266, the power source 1268 or the display 1269 to the torque measuring device 14. The torque measuring device 14 is then fixed between the chassis 11 and the reducer 124 by means of the two pins, - Tensioning the drive head 12 (step 1004), - Choice of the observation parameter (step 1005) and the sampling frequency, the observation parameter being the axial force at the drive head or the angular speed of the scraper blades or the sludge concentration or the level of the overall sludge bed, - Recording of the observation parameter (step 1006) over a predefined period.

[0058] The installation method (1000) according to the invention can also, in a situation of reinstallation of the pre-existing safety device, comprise the following steps: - Switching off the drive head 12 (step 1007), - Disassembly (step 1008) of the torque measuring device 14 from the device scraping 1 by removing the two pins, - Mounting (step 1009) of the pre-existing safety device in the scraping device 1 in place of the torque measuring device 14, - Tensioning the drive head 12 (step 1010).

[0059] The invention therefore relates to a scraping device 1 and more particularly to a device for measuring axial force torque 14, removable, easily transportable and incorporable into a pre-existing scraping device operating in a settling tank in which the water stagnates to allow a deposit of the organic mass in the bottom or the central pit of the settling tank, the scraping device 1 making it possible to move the heavy material deposited in the central pit. This torque measuring device 14 makes it possible on the one hand to act as a safety device in order to prevent the drive wheel 122 from acting on the reducer 124 like a traction and / or compression arm and on the other hand to be able to obtain management of the scraping torque of the scraping device 1 in order to be able to size the scraping device as best as possible, by making it more or less dense for example in relation to the quantity of material to be moved. It is thus possible, from the torque measuring device 14, to be able to optimize the drive head and the scraping device by knowing the scraping torques over an operating period. The torque measuring device 14 according to the invention also has the advantage of being suitable for all scraping devices currently in use and of being mounted on a scraping device in less than half an hour.
