Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Interconnection device for an electrical inverter TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of electronic component assembly. More specifically, the invention relates to an interconnection member for establishing an electrical connection between several electronic components.
[0002] According to a preferred application, the invention is described below with reference to the connection of an electronic card to an electrical conduction bar of an electromagnetic compatibility filter. However, it should be noted that the invention is applicable to many other applications where reliable and efficient interconnection of electronic components is required. STATE OF THE ART
[0003] To reduce electromagnetic disturbances in an electronic circuit, it is common to use an electromagnetic compatibility filter (or EMC filter). The EMC filter comprises different filtering elements (inductors, capacitors, resistors) generally mounted on an electronic card, which is connected to the input or output of the electronic circuit, depending on the specific requirements of the electronic circuit and the requirements of the application.
[0004] Such a filter is for example used in electrical inverters which generate electromagnetic disturbances due to the currents passing through them and the high-frequency switching implemented to convert direct electrical energy into alternating electrical energy.
[0005] In electrical inverters, the electronic card of the EMC filter is electrically connected to an electrical conduction bar, generally referred to by the English term "busbar", used to transport electrical energy.
[0006] To do this, the electronic board of the EMC filter is connected to the electrical conduction bar via specific electrical connectors or interconnectors. Different examples of interconnectors for connecting two electronic components are known.
[0007] For example, the interconnectors referenced 216906-1 and manufactured by the company Te connectivity as well as the interconnectors referenced Redcube WP-THRBU 74650073 IR and manufactured by the company Würth Elektronik disclose interconnectors for interconnecting an electronic card and another electronic component.
[0008] These interconnectors comprise a body in which a through-hole is formed and connection pins attached to the body. The connection pins are intended to be inserted at least partially into a connector of the electronic card to establish an electrical connection between the electronic card and the body. The body comprises a bearing surface intended to bear against the electronic card when the connection pin is inserted into the connector.
[0009] The electrical connection with the other electronic component is generally established by means of a screw, a first portion of which cooperates with the orifice provided in the body of the interconnector and a second portion, generally threaded, cooperates with a tapped hole provided in the other electronic component.
[0010] In an application to electrical inverters, such a connection does not guarantee a sufficient electrical contact surface to ensure optimal conductivity and may result in a loss of efficiency of the EMC filter, which may have adverse consequences on the performance of the inverter and neighboring electronic equipment.
[0011] In addition, the screw can exert harmful mechanical stresses on the printed circuit board (via the interconnector), which can lead to deformations or cracks and therefore damage the EMC filter. Statement of the invention
[0012] The present invention aims to remedy all or part of the drawbacks of the state of the art cited above.
[0013] To this end, the invention relates, according to a first aspect, to an interconnection member for electrically interconnecting two electronic components located in different planes. The interconnection member comprises a body in which is provided an orifice passing through the body along a longitudinal axis of the interconnection member and at least one connection pin attached to the body. The connection pin comprises a conductive portion that is substantially planar and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, intended to be inserted at least partially into a connector of the first electronic component to establish an electrical connection between the first electronic component and the body. The body comprises a bearing surface intended to bear against the first electronic component when the conductive portion of the connection pin is inserted into the connector. The body comprises a conductive surface which is substantially planar and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, intended to bear against the second electronic component to establish an electrical connection between the second electrical component and the body, the conductive portion of the connection pin is located between a plane defined by the bearing surface of the body and a plane defined by the conductive surface of the body.
[0014] The interconnection member makes it possible to establish a direct electrical connection with the first electronic component (via the connection pins) and with the second electronic component (via the conductive surface). In other words, the electrical interconnection of the first electronic component and the second electronic component is established by a single part, which reduces the risk of poor electrical contact and thus improves the reliability of the interconnection.
[0015] In particular, the conductive surface makes it possible to ensure a plane-plane connection (or plane support) between the body of the interconnection member and the second electronic component, which guarantees an electrically satisfactory connection in terms of reliability.
[0016] This connection between the conductive surface and the second electronic component can be maintained and controlled using clamping means, passing through the orifice of the body and adapted to clamp the second electronic component against the conductive surface and thus guarantee reliable electrical contact.
[0017] Compared to the solutions of the state of the art, the interconnection member makes it possible to take up at least part of the tightening forces by ensuring a minimum spacing between the first electronic component, which is supported against the support surface, and the second electronic component, which is supported against the conductive surface. The interconnection member thus plays the role of a spacer, the distance between the support surface and the conductive surface being able to vary so as to further limit the deformations, or to induce no deformation.
[0018] The body can be made of copper. The body thus guarantees satisfactory electrical conductivity, while having a limited manufacturing cost.
[0019] The body may comprise an upper section and a lower section connected to the upper section by forming a shoulder, said shoulder forming the bearing surface. There is no fillet between the two portions, which makes it possible to increase the contact surface with the first electronic component.
[0020] The bearing surface may extend at least peripherally around the second section. Such an arrangement provides a larger contact surface with the first electronic component, which improves the mechanical strength of the interconnection member on this component.
[0021] The lower section may comprise a free end face opposite the upper section, the free end face comprising the conductive surface.
[0022] The lower section may have a generally cylindrical shape. In other words, the lower section may have an annular cross-section and extend longitudinally along the longitudinal axis of the interconnecting member. This shape provides better distribution of the clamping forces and therefore better mechanical strength under the action of these clamping forces.
[0023] The connecting pin is attached to the body by an arm, the arm extending transversely from the body such that the connecting pin projects transverse to the body. This configuration makes it possible to place, on the first electronic component, the connectors as close as possible to the electronic elements of the first electronic component and thus to reduce the tracks on the first electronic component.
[0024] The arm may be attached to the upper section of the body. More generally, the connecting pin may be attached to the upper section of the body.
[0025] The connection pin may extend in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the interconnection member.
[0026] The connection pin may comprise an end by which the connection pin is intended to be inserted into the connector of the first electronic component, the connection pin being coated with tin, silver or gold at least at this end. This makes it possible to facilitate the fixing step between the connection pin and the first electronic component.
[0027] The interconnection member may comprise a single connection pin. The connection pin provides, in addition to the electrical connection with the first electronic component, an anti-rotation function. Alternatively, the interconnection member may comprise two connection pins. The connection pins may be arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis of the interconnection member. The forces applied to the connection pins, in particular rotational forces, are better distributed, which makes it possible to attenuate the forces in each connection pin.
[0028] The interconnection member may comprise more than two connection pins arranged uniformly around the longitudinal axis.
[0029] The orifice of the body may have smooth walls. In other words, the walls of this orifice are not threaded and are not specifically designed to cooperate with a clamping member such as a screw. Indeed, since the electrical contact between the first electronic component and the body is established via the connection pin and since the electrical contact between the second electronic component and the body is established via the conductive surface, it is no longer necessary to establish contact between the screw and the body to ensure an electrical connection. By having a smooth inner wall, the interconnection member is easier to manufacture.
[0030] The invention also relates, according to a second aspect, to a subassembly comprising a first electronic component comprising a connector adapted to receive a connection pin and an interconnection member in the first aspect of the invention. The bearing surface of the body bears against a first face of the first electronic component. The conductive portion of the connection pin is inserted at least partially into the connector of the first electronic component. The body passes through the first electronic component so that the surface conductive is located opposite the support surface with respect to the first electronic component.
[0031] By “connector” is meant an area of the first electronic component or a member attached to the first electronic component allowing an electrical connection to be established with another component, such as a connection pin.
[0032] The connection pin may be attached to the first electronic component by soldering or brazing.
[0033] The first electronic component may be an electronic card. Such an electronic card is commonly called a “PCB” (from the English “Printed Circuit Board”).
[0034] The invention also relates, according to a third aspect, to an assembly comprising a subassembly in accordance with the second aspect of the invention, a second electronic component and means for clamping the second electronic component against the conductive surface of the body of the interconnection member, these means passing through the orifice of the body of the interconnection member.
[0035] The clamping means may comprise a rod provided with a threaded portion passing through the orifice of the body of the interconnection member and an insert in which is provided a tapped hole adapted to engage with the threaded portion, the insert being fixed to the second electronic component.
[0036] Alternatively, the clamping means may comprise a rod provided with a threaded portion passing through the orifice of the body of the interconnecting member and two nuts adapted to engage with the threaded portion.
[0037] Alternatively, the clamping means may comprise a screw comprising a head and a shank provided with a threaded portion passing through the orifice of the body of the interconnecting member and a nut adapted to engage with the threaded portion.
[0038] The second electronic component may be an electrical conduction bar. Such a conduction bar is generally referred to by the English term “busbar” or by the French term “connection plate”. The conduction bar may be made of copper.
[0039] The invention finally relates, according to a fourth aspect, to a method for interconnecting two electronic components extending in different planes. The method comprises the steps of: - providing an interconnection member according to the first aspect of the invention; - providing a first electronic component; - providing a second electronic component; - electrical connection between the interconnection member and the first electronic component by inserting at least partially the conductive portion of the connection pin of the interconnection member into a connector of the first electronic component; and - electrical connection between the interconnection member and the second electronic component by clamping, using clamping means, the second component against the conductive surface of the body of the interconnecting member. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
[0040] Other advantages, aims and particular characteristics of the present invention will emerge from the following non-limiting description of at least one particular embodiment of the devices and methods which are the subject of the present invention, with reference to the appended drawings, in which: • [Fig.l] represents, according to a three-dimensional schematic view, an interconnection member in accordance with an embodiment of the invention; • [Fig.2] represents, in a side view, the interconnection member of [Fig.l]; • [Fig.3] represents, in a view from below, the interconnection member of [Fig.l]; • [Fig.4] shows, in a longitudinal sectional view, an assembly comprising the interconnection member of [Fig.1]; and • [Fig.5] represents a method of interconnection between two electronic components with an interconnection member according to the invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0041] The present description is given as a non-limiting example of embodiment.
[0042] Figures 1 to 3 represent an interconnection member 1 according to an embodiment of the invention. The interconnection member 1 is adapted to connect two electronic components, namely a first electronic component and a second electronic component located in different planes.
[0043] The interconnection member 1 comprises a body 2. The body 2 is advantageously made from a conductive material, such as copper, steel, aluminum, brass, gold or even silver. Preferably, the body 2 is made from copper, which represents an interesting compromise between electrical conductivity and cost. The body 2 can be manufactured by machining or by forging.
[0044] The body 2 comprises an opening orifice 3 which extends through the body along a longitudinal axis X of the interconnection member 1. The orifice 3 is adapted for the passage of a clamping member such as a screw. However, the orifice 3 does not necessarily comprise a thread. In other words, the walls of the orifice 3 may be smooth, which facilitates the manufacture of the body 2, or else threaded in order to cooperate with a complementary threaded member, such as a screw.
[0045] The body 2 comprises an upper face 4 and a lower face 5 opposite, along the longitudinal axis X, the upper face 4. The upper face 4 is intended to form a bearing surface for tightening means, for example for the head of a screw, when such a screw is inserted into the orifice 3. The lower face 5 is intended to come in contact with the second electronic component.
[0046] The lower face 5 comprises a conductive surface occupying at least a portion of the lower face 5. The conductive surface is adapted to establish an electrical connection between the body 2 and the second electronic component. The conductive surface is adapted to establish a plane-plane contact or plane support with the second connection member which is generally flat. This support surface is preferably substantially planar. Such an arrangement makes it possible to guarantee a relatively reliable electrical connection. The conductive surface here extends substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X (and therefore to the orifice 3). This makes it possible, more particularly when the electronic components extend parallel to each other, to avoid damaging the second electronic component under the action of the clamping means.
[0047] In the embodiment shown, the body 2 comprises an upper section 6 and a lower section 7 attached to the upper section 6. The upper section 6 comprises an upper face forming the upper face 4 of the body 2 and a lower face opposite the upper face. The lower section 7 is attached to the lower face of the upper section 6 and comprises a free end face, distal to the upper section 6, forming the lower face 5 of the body 2.
[0048] The upper section 6 has a larger cross-section than the cross-section of the lower section 7 so as to form a shoulder 8. The shoulder 8 forms a bearing surface intended to bear against the first electronic component. The bearing surface 8 is preferably generally flat. This bearing surface 8 is for example substantially parallel to the conductive surface, in particular when the electronic components to be interconnected extend parallel to each other. The bearing surface 8 here has a generally annular shape.
[0049] The distance, along the longitudinal axis X, between the conductive surface and the support surface 8, corresponding to the height of the lower section 7, thus makes it possible to determine a minimum spacing between the first electronic component and the second electronic component. The body 2 thus plays the role of a spacer between the first electronic component and the second electronic component.
[0050] The height of the lower section 7 is determined according to the desired minimum spacing between the first electronic component and the second electronic component. The height of the lower section 7 is for example between 5 mm and 15 mm, or even between 5.5 mm and 10 mm, or even between 6 mm and 7 mm, or even be substantially equal to 6.1 mm for an application specific to an electrical inverter.
[0051] The lower section 7 is dimensioned to withstand compressive forces during a tightening step described in more detail in the remainder of the description. Such dimensioning is achieved by determining a minimum thickness, between a wall internal and an external wall of the lower section 7, so that the lower section 7 does not deform under the action of predetermined clamping forces. The thickness of the lower section 7 is for example greater than 0.5 mm.
[0052] In the example shown in Figures 1 to 3, the lower section 7 has a generally cylindrical shape (hollow cylinder), which makes it possible to distribute the clamping forces uniformly. Indeed, when a compressive force is applied to a part of circular or annular section, the stresses are distributed uniformly over the entire cross-section.
[0053] The external diameter of the lower section 7 is for example between 6 mm and 20 mm, or even between 7 mm and 15 mm, or even between 8 mm and 10 mm, or even substantially equal to 8.2 mm for the specific application to an electrical inverter. The orifice 3 extends concentrically inside the lower section 7 and has a diameter being for example between 3 mm and 10 mm, or even between 4 mm and 8 mm, or even between 4.5 mm and 6 mm, or even substantially equal to 5 mm for the specific application to an electrical inverter.
[0054] The upper section 6 has a circular section whose diameter is greater than the external diameter of the lower section 7. Generally, the circular shape is preferred when the body 2 is manufactured by machining.
[0055] The shape and dimensions of the upper section 6 and the lower section 7 may of course vary depending on the applications. For example, these sections may have a rectangular, triangular, oblong, star-shaped or any other suitable cross-section. The upper section may also have a different cross-section than the lower section.
[0056] The interconnection member 1 further comprises a connection pin 9. The connection pin 9 is attached to the body 2. The connection pin 9 is configured to establish an electrical connection between the body 2 and the first electronic component. To do this, the connection pin 9 comprises an (electrically) conductive portion intended to be inserted at least partially into a connector of the first electronic component.
[0057] In the embodiment shown, the interconnection member 1 comprises two connection pins 9, which guarantees better mechanical strength of the interconnection member on the first electronic component. The connection pins 9 are arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal axis X, to improve the distribution, on the first electronic component, of potential forces induced by the rotation of the interconnection member 1 around its longitudinal axis X.
[0058] The connection pin 9 is advantageously made from a conductive material, such as copper, steel, aluminum, brass, gold or even silver. In fact, the connection pin 9 can be made from the same material as the body 2. The connecting pin 9 and the body 2 can be made from a single piece, using the same manufacturing process.
[0059] In the example shown, the connection pin 9 has a circular section. The diameter of the connection pin 9 is for example between 0.5 mm and 5 mm, or even between 1 mm and 4 mm, or even between 1.5 mm and 3 mm, or even substantially equal to 2 mm for the specific application to an electrical inverter.
[0060] The connection pin 9 extends parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the interconnection member 1. The conductive portion of the connection pin 9 is situated axially between a plane P5 defined by the conductive surface of the body 2 and a plane P8 defined by the bearing surface 8, which allows a particularly advantageous assembly described in the remainder of the description.
[0061] The conductive portion is located on the connection pin 9 so that, when the bearing surface 8 bears against the first electronic component, the conductive portion is inserted into the connector of the first electronic component. In practice, inserting the conductive portion into the connector is sufficient to establish an electrical connection. The connection pin may, for example, be inserted with a tight fit, or with a force fit, which provides a reliable and strong connection.
[0062] The connection pin 9 is attached to the upper section 6 of the body 2 by an arm 12. The arm 12 extends transversely (radially in the present example) from the upper section 6 so as to keep the connection pin 9 at a distance from the body 2. By way of example, the distance between the longitudinal axis X and a central axis of the connection pin 9 may be between 5 mm and 11 mm, for example of the order of 8 mm.
[0063] The arm 12 is connected on the side of a first end 10 of the connection pin 9. The connection pin 9 comprises a second end 11, opposite the first end 10, by which the connection pin 9 is inserted into the connector of the first electronic component.
[0064] The second end 11 of the connection pin 9 is coated with a filler metal or alloy commonly used for electronic soldering in order to facilitate a soldering step, described in more detail in the remainder of the description, between the connection pin 9 and the first electronic component. Such a filler metal is for example tin, silver, or gold. To facilitate manufacturing, the entire connection pin, or the entire interconnection member may be coated with the filler metal or alloy.
[0065] The welding step is likely to induce a longitudinal displacement of the connection pin 9 downwards (towards the lower face 5), and a deformation of the arm 12 in this same direction. To prevent the deformation of the arm 12 does not damage the first electronic component, the arm 12 is arranged so that, when the bearing surface 8 is bearing against the first electronic component, the arm 12 is at a distance from the first electronic component.
[0066] In other words, the arm 12 is at a distance from the plane P8 defined by the bearing surface 8. As shown in [Fig.2], the upper section 6 and the arm 12 extend along the axis X from the upper face 4, the upper section 6 having a thickness, along the axis X, which is greater than that of the arm 2. Thus, a space is formed between the first electronic component and the arm 12 when the bearing surface 8 is in abutment against the first electronic component.
[0067] [Fig. 4] represents, in a longitudinal sectional view, an assembly 100 comprising the interconnection member 1 of FIGS. 1 to 3, a first electronic component 13, a second electronic component 14 and clamping means 15.
[0068] In the assembly shown, the first electronic component 13 and the second electronic component 14 extend parallel to each other. The first electronic component 13 comprises a first face 16 and a second face 17, opposite the first face 16, facing the second electronic component 14.
[0069] The first electronic component 13 comprises a connector 18 adapted to receive the connection pin 9 and an orifice 19 adapted for the passage of the lower section 7 of the body 2. The connector 18 is formed by a hole in the first electronic component 13, which hole is surrounded by a metallic material electrically connected to the elements of the first electronic component 13. Other connectors can be envisaged, for example connectors attached to the first electronic component.
[0070] The bearing surface 8 of the body 2 bears against the first face 16 of the first electronic component 13 and the conductive portion of the connection pin 9 is inserted at least partially into the connector 18 so that an electrical connection is established between the first electronic component 13 and the body 2 of the interconnection member 1.
[0071] The second end 11 of the connection pin 9 projects from the second face 17 of the first electronic component 13. In order to improve the mechanical strength of the interconnection member 1 on the first electronic component 13, the second end 11 of the connection pin 9 is welded onto the second face 17 of the first electronic component 13. This assembly by welding also makes the electrical connection more reliable.
[0072] The space formed between the first face 16 of the first electronic component 13 and the arm 12 allows, in addition to preventing the deformation of the arm 12 from damaging the first electronic component 13, to allow the formation of a solder cone all around the connection pin 9, including under the arm 12. This solder cone on the entire periphery of the connection pin 9 makes it possible to further improve the fixing of the interconnection member 1 on the first electronic component 13.
[0073] Another solder cone can be formed all around the connection pin 9 on the side of the second face 17.
[0074] The second electronic component 14 comprises a first face 20 facing the first electronic component 13 and a second face 21 opposite the first face 20. The second electronic component 14 comprises an orifice 22 open on the first face 20 and adapted to receive the clamping means 15.
[0075] The lower section 7 passes through the orifice 19 formed in the first electronic component 13 and projects from the second face 17 of the first electronic component 13. The conductive surface of the lower face 5 bears against the first face 20 of the second electronic component 14 so that an electrical connection is established between the second electronic component 14 and the body 2 of the interconnection member 1. The conductive surface of the interconnection member 1 and the first face 20 of the second electronic component 14 cooperate according to a plane-plane connection (or plane support), which guarantees a relatively reliable electrical connection.
[0076] The second electronic component 14 is clamped (compressed) against the conductive surface of the interconnection member 1 under the action of the clamping means 15, which makes it possible to further improve the reliability of the electrical connection.
[0077] In the example shown, the clamping means 15 comprise a screw 23 formed by a head 24 and a rod provided with a threaded portion 25, and an insert 26 in which a tapped hole 27 is provided, adapted to engage with the threaded portion 25. The insert 26 is fixed to the second electronic component 14, for example by crimping or any other suitable fixing means.
[0078] Other clamping means may be envisaged. The clamping means may, for example, consist of a threaded rod and two nuts (stud) or of a screw and a nut (bolt).
[0079] The rod of the screw 23 is inserted inside the orifice 3 of the interconnection member 1. In the example illustrated, the walls of the orifice 3 are smooth so that the threaded portion 25 does not engage with the walls of the orifice 3.
[0080] The head 24 bears against the upper face 4 of the interconnection member 1 and the threaded portion 25 engages with the tapped hole 27 of the insert 26. It is thus possible, by turning the screw 23, to adjust the tightening between the conductive surface of the interconnection member 1 and the first face 20 of the second electronic component 14.
[0081] The forces linked to the clamping of the second electronic component 14 against the conductive surface are taken up entirely by the interconnection member 1, at the level of the part of the upper face 4 in contact with the head 24 of the screw 23. This thus makes it possible to limit the deformations of the first electronic component 13 under the action of the clamping means 15.
[0082] Such an assembly 100 may be implemented in an electrical inverter in which the first electronic component is an electronic card of an EMC filter, and the second electronic component is an electrical conduction bar crossed by an electrical signal to be filtered. The second electronic component may also comprise two electrical conduction bars, a “+” polarity bar and a “-” polarity bar. In this case, the assembly may comprise two interconnection members, one for each electrical conduction bar.
[0083] [Fig. 5] represents a method 200 for interconnecting two electronic components of an inverter. The interconnection method 200 comprises a step 201 of providing an interconnection member according to the invention, a step 202 of providing a first electronic component and a step 203 of providing a second electronic component.
[0084] The interconnection method 200 then comprises a step of electrical connection 204 between the interconnection member and the first electronic component by inserting at least partially the conductive portion of the connection pin of the interconnection member into a connector of the first electronic component. The connection pin is for example inserted according to a tight fit, or according to a force assembly.
[0085] Once this electrical connection step 204 has been carried out, the method 200 may comprise a step 205 of fixing the connection pin to the first electronic component. The connection pin may be fixed by welding or by brazing to the first electronic component. The welding or brazing may be carried out from the second face of the first electrical component, at the second end of the connection pin which is coated with a filler material or alloy.
[0086] Wave soldering or welding is preferred in order to promote the mass production of subassemblies comprising the first electronic component 13 and the interconnection member 1. This method consists of an additional supply of metal or filler alloy which, combined with the coating on the second end of the connection pin, makes it possible to obtain a weld more quickly. This thus allows for time and cost savings.
[0087] The interconnection method 200 finally comprises a step of electrical connection 206 between the interconnection member and the second electronic component by clamping, using clamping means, the second component against the conductive surface of the body of the interconnection member.
[0088] The invention thus developed makes it possible to guarantee both an interconnection reliable electrical connection between two electrical components and to limit deformations induced by clamping forces.
[0089] The invention is of particular interest in an electrical inverter, in particular an inverter used in an electric or hybrid motor vehicle. In particular, this interconnection member can be used to interconnect an EMC filter and an electrical conduction bar. By making this interconnection, the electromagnetic disturbances generated by the inverter can be reduced, or even eliminated, reliably.
