Description

Title of the invention: Composition and method for treating keratin fibers using at least one particular pyrimidine derivative and at least one unsaturated fatty acid. Technical field of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a composition comprising at least one unsaturated fatty acid and at least one particular pyrimidine derivative as well as a method for treating keratin fibers using this composition. Background to the invention

[0002] External atmospheric agents such as pollution and bad weather, as well as mechanical or chemical treatments, or certain routines, such as brushing, combing, dyeing, bleaching, perming, straightening, repeated washing, can damage and weaken the hair. The hair can become deformed and damaged and in the long run become dry, rough, brittle, dull, split and / or limp.

[0003] In order to remedy this, it is usual to use hair compositions intended to condition the hair by providing it with satisfactory cosmetic properties, in particular smoothing, shine, softness to the touch, suppleness, lightness, good detangling properties inducing ease of combing, good discipline of the hair which is thus easier to style and keeps its shape. However, the conditioning effect obtained by these hair care products fades quickly over time, does not always have satisfactory persistence when shampooed and does not prevent irreversible deformation of the hair due to elongation of the fibers, for example during combing or detangling, nor does it repair or prevent breakage of the hair.

[0004] It is known that pyrimidine derivatives such as thiamine (Vitamin B1) or one of its salts can be used in hair compositions intended to condition the hair in order to preserve or even improve the quality of the hair. However, the storage in solution of these derivatives, in particular when they are used in hair care products formulated at acidic pH, generates an unpleasant odor for the consumer and therefore limits their use, in particular at high concentration.

[0005] Thus, there is a real need to develop a hair composition characterized by good stability with respect to odor during storage which comprises at least one particular pyrimidine derivative making it possible to prevent irreversible deformation of the hair, in particular damaged and / or sensitized hair, due to the elongation of the fibers, for example during combing or detangling, and to repair or to prevent hair breakage, in particular damaged and / or sensitized hair.

[0006] The applicant has surprisingly discovered that all or part of these objectives can be achieved by the composition according to the present invention. Summary of the invention

[0086] b. Stability study of the compositions

[0087] Each of the compositions Ai to A30 and Bi to B3 were placed in two separate bottles sealed with parafilm to prevent vapor leakage. One of the two bottles was placed in an oven at 66°C for 1 week to study the stability in storage at high temperature. The other bottle was left at room temperature (22°C). After one week, the bottles were left standing for 2 hours so that the bottles at 66°C returned to room temperature. Then, each bottle, one after the other, was opened for 5 seconds and an olfactory evaluation was made. The intensity of the change in odor of the formulas, after storage, was evaluated using the scale: 0 = no odor, 1 = a very weak odor, 2 = weak odor, 3 = notable odor, 4 = intense and unpleasant odor, 5 = very intense and very unpleasant odor. Only formulas with a score of 0 to 2 inclusive are considered stable.

[0089] Compositions Ai to A30 and Bi to B3 were applied according to the protocol application described below and assessed with regard to their integrity, namely their resistance to breakage and irreversible deformation according to the test protocol described below. Application protocol

[0090] Damaged strands of hair (type 1 cf. de La Mettrie R, et al. Shape variability and classification of human hair: A worldwide approach. Human Biology. 2007; 79: 265-281) are washed with DOP shampoo, then wrung out between the fingers (2 passes). The wet strands are then placed on a flat surface and then the freshly prepared compositions Ai to A30 and Bi to B3 are applied separately to said strands with a bath ratio of 0.2 (i.e. 0.2g of com- position for 1g of hair).

[0091] The strands are then kneaded with the fingers using circular movements along each strand (5 times), then the strands are left to dry in an oven at 60°C (10 min / g of hair). These steps of shampooing and applying the formulas and drying are repeated to have 6 applications in total.

[0092] A damaged, untreated strand of hair is used as a reference. Test protocol

[0093] The test involves pulling on wet hair to see if the hair breaks, deforms irreversibly, or deforms and then returns to its original shape and length. The test is commonly used by hairdressers to assess the integrity of their clients' hair. The test involves taking a lock of hair, soaking it in water for 30 seconds, then taking and holding 3 hair fibers between the index finger and thumb of both hands (each hand takes one end of the fibers). The fibers are then put under slight tension by moving the fingers and thumbs of each hand apart so that there are 3 centimeters of fibers between the hands, then pulling so that the fibers deform by 1 cm more. A ruler is used to ensure that the stretching distances are respected. The fibers are held for 3 seconds, then the tension is gently released. The fibers are placed horizontally on absorbent paper for 5 minutes to dry and then evaluated.

[0094] The test is repeated 5 times, for a total of 15 fibers.

[0095] Hair integrity performance is classified by the following rules: • If the sum of broken and irreversibly deformed fibers is equal to or greater than 10, the hair has very poor integrity. • If the sum of broken and irreversibly deformed fibers is between 6 and 9 inclusive, the hair has poor integrity. • If the sum of broken and irreversibly deformed fibers is between 2 and 5 inclusive, the hair has good integrity. • If the sum of broken and irreversibly deformed fibers is 1 or less, the hair has very good integrity. d.
