Description

Title of the invention: Method and device for controlling a ventilation system of a vehicle passenger compartment Technical field

[0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a ventilation system of a passenger compartment of a vehicle, in particular of the automobile type. The present invention also relates to a method and a device for controlling one or more air conditioning systems in a vehicle. Technological background

[0002] Many contemporary vehicles integrate a touch screen display into their passenger compartment to control and operate the vehicle's infotainment system, also called IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) system.

[0003] The touch display screen is also increasingly used to display graphical interfaces that replace certain control panels dedicated to the control and operation of system(s) embedded in the vehicle, for example the air conditioning system. Thus, the physical control panel of the air conditioning system is now presented in certain vehicles in the form of a graphical interface that is displayed on a display screen at the request of the driver or a passenger of the vehicle, for example via a selection in a menu or a home page of the graphical interface displayed on the display screen.

[0004] Controls of an air conditioning system may be, for example, a selection of a temperature setpoint for the air in a vehicle passenger compartment, a selection of a power level for automatic air conditioning of the air in the vehicle passenger compartment, an activation / deactivation of the automatic air conditioning, an activation / deactivation of defrosting of a front and / or rear windshield of the vehicle, an activation / deactivation of recycling of the interior air in the vehicle passenger compartment without the supply of outside air, a selection of a ventilation zone inside the vehicle passenger compartment or a selection of a ventilation power level for the air in the vehicle passenger compartment.

[0005] Air conditioning system control solutions are known which are described as physical, tactile or hybrid.

[0006] Physical solutions are historically the first to have been used in the automobile. These solutions propose using buttons to control an air conditioning system. If the ergonomics of these solutions were acceptable, their use in contemporary vehicles is no longer reasonable due to the ever-increasing number important number of controls for an air conditioning system. The use of multiple buttons on an air conditioning system panel positioned on the vehicle's dashboard can no longer be considered due to the increasing volume and complexity of these panels.

[0007] Touch solutions have only recently been used in the automotive industry. These solutions propose using a main touch screen positioned on the dashboard of the vehicle which allows rapid feedback of information for users in a visual form. However, these touch solutions are not really more ergonomic compared to physical solutions because they take up the principle of adjusting the various air vents and are therefore intended to simply replace physical buttons.

[0008] A problem then arises of defining a solution for controlling an air conditioning system with ever-increasing numbers of controls with quick, simple and intuitive access controls. Summary of the present invention

[0009] An object of the present invention is to make access to the ever-increasing number of controls of an air conditioning system simple and intuitive.

[0010] Another object of the present invention is to improve the comfort of users of a vehicle.

[0011] According to a first aspect, the invention relates to a method for controlling a ventilation system of a vehicle passenger compartment, the method comprising the following steps: - display control of at least one silhouette representative of a person in a determined content of a human-machine interface, called HMI, displayed in a first zone of a touch screen; - reception of first data representative of a first tactile press on a determined part of the at least one silhouette; - determination of a first piece of information representative of a target direction of an air flow based on the first data; - display control of a first graphic content comprising a representation of the air flow on the at least one silhouette as a function of the first information; - determination of instructions for at least one actuator controlling the air flow emitted by at least one vent of a set of vents of the vehicle from the first information.

[0012] The use of a visual representation of a person (representing for example an occupant of the vehicle) using one or more silhouettes and the air flows on this or these silhouettes makes the understanding of the settings and their effects direct and intuitive. A user can thus adjust the ventilation according to the desired effect, in particular the direction of the air flow, without worrying about the settings of the different actuators.

[0013] According to a variant of the method, the touch screen is placed on a dashboard of the passenger compartment.

[0014] The touch screen is thus easily accessible by a driver or a front passenger of the vehicle.

[0015] According to another variant, the method further comprises a step of determining a second piece of information representative of a volume of air in the air flow as a function of the first data, the display control of the first graphic content and the determination of the instructions also being a function of the second information.

[0016] According to another method variant, at least one actuator belongs to a set of actuators comprising: - a fan, - a valve, - a motor controlling vertical fins, and - a motor controlling horizontal fins.

[0017] These actuators make it possible to control a quantity of air passing through an aerator as well as its direction at the aerator outlet.

[0018] According to an additional variant, the method further comprises the steps of: - display control of at least one graphic object representative of a determined setting, displayed in a second zone of the touch screen; - reception of second data representative of a second touch press on the at least one graphic object, the at least one actuator being controlled according to parameters associated with the setting determined following receipt of the second data.

[0019] Graphic objects are shortcuts that allow specific settings to be used, allowing the user to adjust an airflow in a single operation. This makes adjusting an airflow faster.

[0020] According to another method variant, a number of silhouettes is equal to the number of front occupants of the vehicle.

[0021] If only the driver is present, then only one silhouette is shown. The information presented is then less, making information and adjustments via the touch screen simpler.

[0022] Conversely, if a second passenger is present, then a second silhouette is presented. Airflow adjustments are then possible for the second passenger.

[0023] According to another variant, the method comprises a step of receiving third data representative of atmospheric conditions outside and / or inside the vehicle from at least one sensor on board the vehicle.

[0024] The touch screen then presents information relating to these atmospheric conditions and an air flow adjustment is, for example, carried out based on this third data.

[0025] According to a second aspect, the invention relates to a device for controlling a ventilation system of a vehicle passenger compartment, the device comprising a memory associated with at least one processor configured for implementing the steps of the method as described according to the first aspect of the invention.

[0026] According to a third aspect, the invention relates to a vehicle comprising a device as described above according to the second aspect of the invention.

[0027] According to a fourth aspect, the invention relates to a computer program which comprises instructions adapted for executing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the invention, in particular when the computer program is executed by at least one processor.

[0028] Such a computer program may use any programming language, and be in the form of source code, object code, or intermediate code between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form, or in any other desirable form.

[0029] According to a fifth aspect, the invention relates to a computer-readable recording medium on which is recorded a computer program comprising instructions for carrying out the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the invention.

[0030] On the one hand, the recording medium may be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium may comprise a storage means, such as a ROM memory, a CD-ROM or a microelectronic circuit type ROM memory, or a magnetic recording means or a hard disk.

[0031] Furthermore, this recording medium may also be a transmissible medium such as an electrical or optical signal, such a signal being able to be conveyed via an electrical or optical cable, by conventional or hertzian radio or by self-directed laser beam or by other means. The computer program according to the invention may in particular be downloaded from an Internet-type network.

[0032] Alternatively, the recording medium may be an integrated circuit in which the computer program is incorporated, the integrated circuit being adapted to perform or to be used in performing the method in question. Brief description of the figures

[0033] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description of the non-limiting embodiments of the invention below, with reference to the appended figures 1 to 4, in which:

[0034] [Fig-1] schematically illustrates a part of the passenger compartment of a vehicle, according to a particular embodiment of the present invention;

[0037] [Fig.4] illustrates a flowchart of the different stages of a control process of a ventilation system for a passenger compartment of the vehicle of [Fig.l], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Description of the embodiments

[0038] A method and a device for controlling a ventilation system of a vehicle passenger compartment will now be described in the following with joint reference to Figures 1 to 4. The same elements are identified with the same reference signs throughout the description which follows.

[0039] The terms "first(s)", "second(s)" (or "first(s)", "second(s)"), etc. are used in this document by arbitrary convention to enable different elements (such as operations, means, etc.) implemented in the embodiments described below to be identified and distinguished. Such elements may be distinct or correspond to a single element, depending on the embodiment.

[0040] According to a particular and non-limiting example of embodiment of the invention, a method for controlling a ventilation system of a passenger compartment of a vehicle comprises a first step of controlling the display of at least one silhouette each representative of a person in a determined content of a human-machine interface, called HMI, displayed in a first zone of a touch screen.

[0041] The method also comprises receiving first data representative of a first tactile press on a determined part of the at least one silhouette, determining first information representative of a target direction of an air flow as a function of the first data and controlling the display of first graphic content comprising a representation of an air flow on the at least one silhouette as a function of the first information.

[0042] Instructions intended for at least one actuator controlling an air flow emitted by at least one aerator of a set of aerators from the first information are then issued.

[0043] [Fig.l] schematically illustrates a part of the passenger compartment of a vehicle, according to a particular exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

[0044] In this example, the vehicle corresponds to a vehicle with a thermal engine, with an electric motor(s) or even a hybrid vehicle with a thermal engine and one or more electric motors. The vehicle thus corresponds, for example, to a land vehicle such as an automobile, a truck, a bus, a motorcycle.

[0045] The vehicle advantageously incorporates in its passenger compartment 10 a display system comprising a screen 12 with a touch interface and a computer configured to control the display of content(s) of a graphical MMI on the touch screen 12. The computer corresponds for example to the computer of the infotainment system, called the IVI computer (from the English “In-Vehicle Infotainment” or in French “Infodivertissement embargo”) of the vehicle.

[0046] Such a display system comprising the touch screen 12 is for example provided or configured to reduce the number of screens present in the passenger compartment 10, as well as to replace buttons or manual controls of various peripherals, such as the adjustment buttons of the air vents 131, 132 present in the passenger compartment 10.

[0047] The touch screen 12 corresponds for example to a screen of the LCD type (from the English “Liquid Crystal Display” or in French “Display à cristals liquide”), for example of the TFT type (from the English “Thin-Film Transistor” or in French “Transistor en film mince”), or OLED (from the English “Organic Light-Emitting Diode” or in French “Diode électroluminescente biologique”). The touch screen 12 is for example arranged in the center of the dashboard 11, for example above a central facade. Of course, the position of the touch screen 12 is not limited to this example, the touch screen 12 being able to be arranged in any position, for example on the central facade.

[0048] The touch screen 12 makes it possible to display content intended for the driver and passengers of the vehicle. The touch screen 12 is also configured to allow the driver and / or passengers of the vehicle to interact with one or more systems embedded in the vehicle via a human-machine interface (HMI) displayed on the screen. For example, the touch screen 12 makes it possible to control the infotainment system, also called the IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) system of the vehicle, as well as, for example, the system in charge of the ventilation system of the passenger compartment 10 of the vehicle, as described below.

[0049] According to another example, not illustrated here, the touch screen 12 is not integrated into the passenger compartment 10 but corresponds to a screen of a mobile communication device, such as a smartphone or a tablet, connected in communication, for example without wire, with the vehicle's on-board system.

[0050] The first vents 131 are for example oriented towards the driver, while the second vents 132 are oriented towards the front passenger.

[0051] The air flow generated through the aerators is, for example, generated by a fan common to all the aerators 131, 132. Valves are then arranged so as to regulate an air flow through each aerator 131, 132 independently.

[0052] According to another particular embodiment, each aerator has its own fan so as to generate its own air flow.

[0053] Each vent has, for example, fins for directing the airflow passing through it. The fins are, for example, arranged in two directions, a vertical direction and a horizontal direction, thus forming an articulated grille. Linear motors or actuators then make it possible to orient the fins in both directions, the airflow is then directed into the passenger compartment opposite an outlet of the vent. It is thus possible to orient the airflow towards a part of the body of an occupant close to the vent depending on the position of the fins.

[0054] According to another particular embodiment, the fins are integral, the set of fins thus formed is then directed by rotation of this set in two separate planes using linear motors or actuators.

[0055] For the various examples, the motors are for example electric motors whose control is received via an electrical signal.

[0056] All the motors, linear actuators, fans or valves are for example managed by a computer. This computer defines the position or speed of each actuator according to the air flow to be generated and directed.

[0057] The touch screen 12 is for example placed in the center of the dashboard 11 so as to be accessible to the occupants placed at the front, that is to say to the driver of the vehicle placed in the driver's seat 141 or to a front passenger placed in the passenger seat 142.

[0058] According to this example, the driver of the vehicle is installed in a seat 141, called the driver's seat. The driving position is on the left or right of the vehicle, depending on the regulations applicable in each country. According to the particular and non-limiting example of [Fig.l], the driving position of the vehicle corresponds to a position on the left corresponding to countries where vehicles travel on the right-hand lane of roads.

[0059] According to a particular embodiment, the vehicle 10 has one or more on-board systems each controlled by one or more computers. These computers, with the IVI computer, form for example a multiplexed architecture for the realization of different services useful for the proper functioning of the vehicle and for assisting the driver and / or the passengers of the vehicle in the control of the vehicle via the control of the system(s) on board the vehicle. The computers com communicate and exchange data with each other via one or more computer buses, for example a communication bus of the data bus type CAN (from the English "Controller Area Network" or in French "Réseau de contrôles"), CAN FD (from the English "Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate" or in French "Réseau de contrôles à débit de données flexible"), FlexRay (according to the ISO 17458 standard), LIN (from the English "Local Interconnect Network" or in French "Réseau interconnecté local") or Ethernet (according to the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard).

[0060] The system(s) embedded in the vehicle 10 correspond for example to an air conditioning system of a vehicle or a ventilation system of a passenger compartment 10.

[0061] A process for controlling ventilation of a passenger compartment 10 is advantageously implemented by the vehicle, for example by one or more processors of one or more computers of the on-board system of the vehicle, for example by the IVI computer.

[0062] In a first operation 41, the display of at least one silhouette 201, 202 representative of at least one occupant of the vehicle is controlled, for example by the IVI computer, in a determined content of a human-machine interface, called HMI, displayed in a first zone 121 of a touch screen 12.

[0063] As illustrated in [Fig.2], a first silhouette 201 represents the body or a part of the body of the driver seated in the seat 141, while a second silhouette 202 represents the body of a passenger seated in the passenger seat 142.

[0064] It should be noted that according to another particular embodiment, three occupants can sit in the first row in the passenger compartment 10, a third silhouette 142 then represents a second passenger seated in a second passenger seat 142.

[0065] According to another exemplary embodiment, the number of silhouettes 201, 202 depends on the number of occupants in the first row of the passenger compartment 10. Thus, if only the driver is present, then only one silhouette is represented. The information presented is then less numerous, making the information and adjustment via the touch screen simpler.

[0066] If a front passenger is present, then a silhouette 202 is associated with him and is displayed in the first zone 121 of the touch screen 12.

[0067] Thus, the number of silhouettes 201, 202 is equal to the number of front occupants of the vehicle.

[0068] The presence of an occupant is for example obtained by the computer from a presence sensor installed in a seat 141, 142 connected via, for example, a data bus.

[0069] Silhouettes represent a body or part of a person's body, so different parts can be easily distinguished, for example, a head, a bust or feet.

[0070] A tactile press 251 on a silhouette 201, 202 sends information to the computer so that the latter implements a function associated with the command corresponding to the tactile press 251.

[0071] The first data representative of the touch pressure are for example received via one or more data buses connecting the touch interface of the screen (or a computer controlling such a touch interface where appropriate) and the IVI computer.

[0072] The first data are for example representative of a so-called brief tactile press, that is to say the duration of the press on a silhouette 201, 202 is less than a threshold duration (for example equal to 500 or 1000 ms) or of a start of a so-called long tactile press, that is to say corresponding to a tactile press of a duration greater than the threshold defined previously (for example equal to 500, 1000, 2000 or 3000 ms).

[0073] The user, by briefly pressing on a part of a silhouette, defines a target direction of an air flow.

[0074] In a second operation 42, first data representative of the first tactile press 251 on a determined part of a silhouette (201, 202) are received.

[0075] These data are thus representative of a target direction which is the part of the occupant's body represented by the part of the silhouette 201, 202 touched during the first tactile press 251 corresponding to it.

[0076] According to a particular embodiment, the user maintains the first touch press 251 and slides the finger in a given direction, for example horizontally, in order to define an airflow volume by moving on a virtual horizontal gauge. A movement of the first touch press 251 to the right represents for example an increase in the requested air volume while a movement of the press to the left represents a decrease in the requested air volume. This first touch press 251 corresponds to a long press as defined previously.

[0077] According to another particular embodiment, the user makes several short presses following the first tactile press 251 on the same part of the silhouette, the volume of air requested being proportional to the number of presses made.

[0078] In a third operation 43, a first piece of information representative of a target direction of an air flow is determined based on the first data. The target direction is thus determined from the part of the silhouette 201, 202 on which the user made the first touch press 251.

[0079] In a fourth complementary operation, a second piece of information representative of an air volume of the air flow is determined as a function of the first data. According to the various examples, the air flow volume is thus determined as a function of the number of touch presses, a movement or a duration of the first touch press 251.

[0080] In order to facilitate the definition of the airflow by a user, the display of at least a graphic object 230 representative of a determined setting is controlled, for example by the IVI computer, in a fifth optional operation. The graphic object 230 is displayed in a second zone 122 of the touch screen 12.

[0081] Such a graphic object 230 represents for example a part of a silhouette 201, 202 and corresponds to a determined airflow setting. The air volume is thus already defined and the target direction corresponds to the part of the silhouette displayed and cannot be modified.

[0082] These graphic objects 230 are for example factory-configured by the manufacturer, or are shortcuts created by a user corresponding to commonly used parameters.

[0083] The user, for example, makes a brief tactile press 252 on one of these graphic objects 230 to define both a direction and an air volume of an air flow.

[0084] In a sixth complementary operation, second data representative of a second tactile press 252 on a graphic object 230 are received by the IVI computer.

[0085] In a seventh operation 44, the display of a first graphic content comprising a representation of an air flow 221, 222 on the silhouette 201, 202 is then controlled as a function of the first and / or second information.

[0086] The target direction is for example represented by one or more concentric circles 211, 212 projected onto a silhouette 201, 202 while the volume of air is represented by a wave 221, 222 which is more or less wide and / or has more or fewer waves.

[0087] By this display, a user clearly understands which part of his body or that of another occupant will receive an air flow and with what intensity.

[0088] The user is either the driver or a passenger, the touch screen being accessible to all occupants of the first row of the passenger compartment 10.

[0089] In an eighth operation 45, instructions intended for at least one actuator controlling an air flow emitted by at least one aerator 131, 132 of a set of aerators are emitted, for example by the IVI computer, from the first and / or second information.

[0090] The instructions are, for example: - a fan rotation speed - a frequency or voltage assigned to a fan - a degree of opening of a valve, - a stroke of an actuator, - the angle of inclination of a fin or set of fins.

[0091] The instructions are, for example, electrical signals intended for an actuator or data frames transmitted on a CAN bus intended for receivers. controlling, for example, one or more actuators.

[0092] For a given direction and volume of air flow, several ventilators can receive a setpoint. Indeed, the air flow to a part of an occupant's body can be emitted by several ventilators.

[0093] In a ninth optional operation, third data representative of atmospheric conditions outside and / or in the passenger compartment 10 of the vehicle are received from at least one sensor on board the vehicle.

[0094] Such data represents for example an outside temperature or a temperature in the passenger compartment 10.

[0095] In a tenth additional operation, the display of at least one graphic object 240 representative of atmospheric conditions outside and / or in the passenger compartment 10 of the vehicle is controlled, for example by the IVI computer. A graphic object 240 is displayed in a third zone 123 of the touch screen 12.

[0096] This graphic object 240 represents, for example, the current outside temperature value.

[0097] [Fig. 3] illustrates a device configured to control a ventilation system of a passenger compartment of the vehicle of [Fig. 1], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The device 3 corresponds for example to the IVI computer of the vehicle.

[0098] The device 3 is for example configured for implementing the operations of the process described with regard to figures 1 and 2 or the steps of the method described with regard to [Fig.4]. Examples of such a device 3 include, but are not limited to, on-board electronic equipment such as an on-board computer of a vehicle, an electronic calculator such as an ECU (“Electronic Control Unit”), a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop. The elements of the device 3, individually or in combination, can be integrated into a single integrated circuit, into several integrated circuits, and / or into discrete components. The device 3 can be produced in the form of electronic circuits or software (or computer) modules or even a combination of electronic circuits and software modules.

[0099] The device 3 comprises one (or more) processor(s) 30 configured to execute instructions for carrying out the steps of the method and / or for executing the instructions of the software(s) embedded in the device 3. The processor 30 may include integrated memory, an input / output interface, and various circuits known to those skilled in the art. The device 3 further comprises at least one memory 31 corresponding for example to a volatile and / or non-volatile memory and / or comprises a memory storage device which may comprise volatile and / or non-volatile memory, such as EEPROM, ROM, PROM, RAM, DRAM, SRAM, flash, magnetic or optical disk.

[0100] The computer code of the embedded software(s) comprising the instructions to be loaded and executed by the processor is for example stored in the memory 31.

[0101] According to various particular embodiments, the device 3 is coupled in communication with other similar devices or systems and / or with communication devices, for example a TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit” or in French “Telematic Control Unit”), for example via a communication bus or through dedicated input / output ports.

[0102] According to a particular and non-limiting embodiment, the device 3 comprises a block 32 of interface elements for communicating with external devices, for example a remote server or the “cloud”, other nodes of the ad hoc network. The interface elements of the block 32 comprise one or more of the following interfaces - RF radio frequency interface, for example Bluetooth® or Wi-Fi®, LTE (Long-Term Evolution), LTE-Advanced; - USB interface (from the English “Universal Serial Bus” or “Universal Serial Bus” in French); - HDMI interface (from the English “High Definition Multimedia Interface” or “High Definition Multimedia Interface” in French); - LIN interface (from the English “Local Interconnect Network”).

[0103] According to another particular embodiment, the device 3 comprises a communication interface 33 which makes it possible to establish communication with other devices (such as other computers of the on-board system) via a communication channel 330. The communication interface 33 corresponds for example to a transmitter configured to transmit and receive information and / or data via the communication channel 330. The communication interface 33 corresponds for example to a wired network of the CAN (Controller Area Network) type, CAN FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate), FlexRay (standardized by the ISO 17458 standard) or Ethernet (standardized by the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard).

[0104] According to an additional particular embodiment, the device 3 can provide output signals to one or more external devices, such as a display screen 340, one or more speakers 350 and / or other peripherals 360 (projection system) via output interfaces 34, 35 and 36 respectively. According to a variant, one or other of the external devices is integrated into the device 3.

[0105] [Fig.4] illustrates a flowchart of the different steps of a method for controlling a ventilation system of a passenger compartment of the vehicle of [Fig.1], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The method is advantageously implemented in the vehicle, for example implemented by the device 3 of [Fig.3],
