Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Method and device for controlling a vehicle journey Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to methods and devices for controlling a journey of a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle. The present invention also relates to a method and a device for determining the time and / or cost of a journey of a vehicle. Technological background
[0002] To plan a journey to be made with a vehicle, it is known to use a navigation system, such a system being for example embedded in the vehicle or implemented in a mobile device, for example a mobile phone, itself embedded in the vehicle. Such a system uses map data such as digital road maps indicating the different road routes that the vehicle can take to go from point A to point B.
[0003] These map data are for example used to offer a driver the shortest, fastest, most economical route or the one that does not take a fast lane, etc. They can also be used by certain functions or driving assistance systems, called AD AS (from the English “Advanced Driver-Assistance System” or in French “Advanced Driving Assistance System”), to guide or control the vehicle in its environment to reach its destination.
[0004] The route is then proposed for the entire journey with a single set of parameters. A journey cost is for example estimated based on the proposed route, however this estimate is not precise enough to reduce the actual cost of the journey. Summary of the present invention
[0005] An object of the present invention is to solve at least one of the drawbacks of the technological background.
[0006] Another object of the present invention is to provide instructions for guaranteeing the cost of a journey made by a vehicle, the cost being determined using a defined cost function.
[0007] Another object of the present invention is to improve road traffic.
[0008] According to a first aspect, the present invention relates to a method comprising the following steps: - reception of first data representative of a geographical position of departure of the journey and of a geographical position of arrival of the journey; - determination of a set of routes based on the first data, each route comprising at least two sections separated by at least one stopping point; - determination of first and second weights for each route based on parameters determined from a map, a first weight being determined for each section of each route and a second weight being determined for each stopping point of each route; - determination of a third weight associated with each route based on the first and second weights determined for said route; - selection of a current route from the set of routes based on the third weights; - determination of instructions for each section and each stopping point of said current route based on the first and second weights determined for said current route.
[0009] A third weight is thus determined and allows a current route to be selected. Instructions are then determined for each section and stopping point, so as to guarantee this third weight.
[0010] According to a method variant, the first and second weights are determined from the parameters weighted according to selection criteria.
[0011] The selection criteria are adjustment variables used to define a cost function associated with a route.
[0012] According to another variant of the method, the mapping comprises information received from a remote server.
[0013] The information received from a remote server is, for example, information updated in real time and represents, for example, current traffic conditions.
[0014] According to an additional variant of the method, the first and second weights are defined as a function of characteristics of the vehicle.
[0015] The third weights of each route are thus faithful to real costs for the vehicle traveling each route. The third weight of the current route is thus realistic and precise.
[0016] According to another variant, the method further comprises a step of controlling the display of said instructions in a determined content of a human-machine interface.
[0017] Instructions can then be issued to a driver.
[0018] According to yet another variant of the method, said instructions are sent to a device of a navigation system.
[0019] Such a driving assistance system then has instructions to ensure a current route conforming to the third determined weight.
[0020] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a computer program which comprises instructions adapted for executing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention, in particular when the computer program is executed by at least one processor.
[0021] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a device for controlling a journey of a vehicle, the device comprising a memory associated with a processor configured for implementing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.
[0022] According to a third aspect, the present invention relates to a vehicle, for example of the automobile type, comprising a device as described above according to the second aspect of the present invention.
[0023] According to a fourth aspect, the present invention relates to a computer program which comprises instructions adapted for executing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention, in particular when the computer program is executed by at least one processor.
[0024] Such a computer program may use any programming language, and be in the form of source code, object code, or intermediate code between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form, or in any other desirable form.
[0025] According to a fifth aspect, the present invention relates to a computer-readable recording medium on which is recorded a computer program comprising instructions for carrying out the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.
[0026] On the one hand, the recording medium may be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium may comprise a storage means, such as a ROM memory, a RAM memory, a CD-ROM or a microelectronic circuit type ROM memory, or a magnetic recording means or a hard disk.
[0027] Furthermore, this recording medium may also be a transmissible medium such as an electrical or optical signal, such a signal being able to be conveyed via an electrical or optical cable, by conventional or hertzian radio or by self-directed laser beam or by other means. The computer program according to the present invention may in particular be downloaded from an Internet-type network.
[0028] Alternatively, the recording medium may be an integrated circuit in which the computer program is incorporated, the integrated circuit being adapted to perform or to be used in performing the method in question. Brief description of the figures

[0033] A method and a device for controlling a vehicle path will now be described in the following with joint reference to Figures 1 to 3. The same elements are identified with the same reference signs throughout the description which follows.
[0034] The terms "first(s)", "second(s)" (or "first(s)", "second(s)"), etc. are used in this document by arbitrary convention to enable different elements (such as operations, means, etc.) implemented in the embodiments described below to be identified and distinguished. Such elements may be distinct or correspond to a single element, depending on the embodiment.
[0035] According to a particular and non-limiting embodiment of the present invention, the control of a journey of a vehicle, for example by a computer of the vehicle, comprises the reception of first data representative of a geographical position of departure of the journey and of a geographical position of arrival of the journey.
[0036] A set of routes is determined based on the first data, each route comprising at least two sections separated by at least one stopping point. First and second weights are determined for each route, with a first weight being determined for each segment of each route and a second weight being determined for each stopping point of each route based on a map. A third weight associated with each route is then determined based on the first and second weights determined for the route.
[0037] A current route is selected from the set of routes based on the third weights and instructions are determined for each leg and each stopping point of the current route based on the first and second weights determined for the current route.
[0038] [Fig.l] schematically illustrates an environment 1 in which a vehicle, according to a particular and non-limiting embodiment of the present invention.
[0039] The vehicle 10 corresponds for example to a vehicle with a thermal engine, with electric motor(s) or even a hybrid vehicle with a thermal engine and one or more electric motors. The vehicle 10 thus corresponds for example to a land vehicle, for example a car, a truck, a bus.
[0040] According to a first particular embodiment, the vehicle 10 carries one or more AD AS systems each controlled by one or more computers. These computers form, for example, a multiplexed architecture for the realization of different services useful for the proper functioning of the vehicle and for assisting the driver and / or the passengers of the vehicle in the control of the vehicle 10 via the control of the AD AS system(s) carried in the vehicle 10.The computers communicate and exchange data with each other via one or more computer buses, for example a communication bus of the data bus type CAN (from the English "Controller Area Network" or in French "Réseau de contrôles"), CAN FD (from the English "Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate" or in French "Réseau de contrôles à débit de données flexible"), FlexRay (according to the ISO 17458 standard), LIN (from the English "Local Interconnect Network" or in French "Réseau interconnecté local") or Ethernet (according to the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard).
[0041] The vehicle 10 carries a navigation and geolocation system, also called a GNSS system (Geolocation and Navigation by a Satellite System), for example a GPS type system (from the English “Global Positioning System” or in French “Geo-positioning system by satellites”).
[0042] According to a second particular embodiment and not illustrated here, a user has a mobile communication device, for example a tablet or a smart mobile phone (from the English “smartphone”).
[0043] The vehicle 10 is also configured to communicate (receive and / or transmit) data with other vehicles and / or an infrastructure of a communication network according to a wireless communication mode, called V2X.
[0044] For this purpose, the vehicle 10 carries a communication device corresponding for example to a telematic control unit, called TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit”) associated with one or more antennas.
[0045] The environment 1 of the vehicle 10 comprises, for example, a mobile communication infrastructure, for example an infrastructure of a V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) type network, with which the vehicle 10 is configured to communicate data. The communication infrastructure 1 implements, for example, communications according to LTE (Long-Term Evolution) technology. long-term"), LTE-Advanced (from the English "Long-Term Evolution - Advanced" or in French "Evolution à long terme avancee"), C-V2X (from the English "Cellular - Vehicle to Everything" or in French "Cellulaire - Véhicule vers tout") which relies on 4G and / or 5G, based on LTE. The vehicle 10 advantageously communicates using a so-called V2X communication system, for example based on the 3GPP LTE-V or IEEE 802.1 lp standards of ITS G5. In such a V2X communication system, each vehicle carries a node to enable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication and / or vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) communication.
[0046] The network infrastructure comprises, for example, communication devices 110 corresponding to relay antennas and / or roadside units (RUs), each corresponding to a node of the network.
[0047] The antenna or UBR 110 is advantageously connected to one or more remote servers 111, 112, for example via the “cloud” 100 (or in French “nuage”), via a wired and / or wireless connection. The antenna or UBR 110 is thus configured to act as a relay between the “cloud” 100 (and the remote server 111) and the vehicle 10.
[0048] The vehicle 10, for example, advantageously incorporates in its passenger compartment 10 a display system comprising a screen and a computer configured to control the display of content(s) of a graphical HMI on the touch screen. The computer corresponds, for example, to the computer of the infotainment system, called the IVI computer (from the English “In-Vehicle Infotainment” or in French “Infodivertissement embargo”) of the vehicle.
[0049] The screen is for example touch-sensitive and corresponds for example to an LCD type screen (from the English "Liquid Crystal Display" or in French "Display à cristals liquide"), for example of the TFT type (from the English "Thin-Film Transistor" or in French "Transistor en film mince"), or OLED type (from the English "Organic Light-Emitting Diode" or in French "Diode électroluminescente biologique"). The screen is for example arranged in the center of the dashboard, for example above a central facade. Of course, the position of the screen is not limited to this example, the screen can be arranged in any position, for example on the central facade.
[0050] The screen allows content to be displayed for the driver and passengers of the vehicle. The screen is also configured to allow the driver and / or passengers of the vehicle to interact with one or more systems embedded in the vehicle via a human-machine interface (HMI) displayed on the screen. For example, the screen allows the infotainment system, also called IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) system of the vehicle to be controlled, as well as, for example, the system responsible for controlling a path of vehicle 10, as described below.
[0051] According to another example, not illustrated here, the screen is not integrated into the passenger compartment but corresponds to a screen of a second mobile communication device, such as a smartphone or a tablet, connected in communication, for example wirelessly, with the on-board system of the vehicle.
[0052] A process for controlling a journey of the vehicle 10 is advantageously implemented by one or more processors of one or more computers of the vehicle 10.
[0053] A user enters, for example, via the HMI, the geographical coordinates of a starting point and an arrival point of a journey of the vehicle 10. The starting point is, for example, the place where the user or the vehicle 10 is located.
[0054] In a first operation, first data representative of the starting geographical position D and of an arrival geographical position A of the journey are received.
[0055] These first data are presented for example in the form of coordinates such as latitude and longitude, addresses for example postal addresses, or locations of points of interest.
[0056] The starting points D and arrival points A are for example accessible via a road network used by the vehicle 10.
[0057] In a second operation, a set of routes is determined based on the first data, for example by a navigation system equipping the vehicle 10 or equipping a mobile communication device connected to the vehicle 10.
[0058] Each route comprises at least two sections 120 separated by at least one stopping point 121.
[0059] The stopping points 121 are of several types depending on a type of road, the needs of the vehicle 10, the needs of one of the occupants of the vehicle 10 or legislation in force for example.
[0060] For example, let us cite the following breakpoints 121: - a toll station, - a gas station or charging station, - a rest area, - a tourist point of interest, - a shopping center, - a washing station, - a garage or car repairer, - a carpooling area.
[0061] Several stopping points 121 of the same type are present on the different routes, likewise there are several possible sections 120 between two stopping points 121 making it possible to define different routes.
[0062] Criteria can then be defined to evaluate the relevance of each route to compare and subsequently select a current route from the set of routes previously determined.
[0063] In order to carry out this evaluation, first and second weights are determined in a third operation for each route, a first weight being determined for each section 120 of each route and a second weight being determined for each stopping point 121 of each route as a function of parameters determined from a map.
[0064] First and second weights are determined based on the information in the mapping. According to the information previously presented, a value is assigned to different quantities, called parameters. These parameters belong, for example, to a set of parameters comprising: - a duration expressed for example in seconds (s) or in minutes (mn) or in hours (h), - a distance expressed for example in meters (m) or kilometers (km), - a speed expressed for example in kilometers per hour (km / h), - a quantity of energy, expressed in liters (1) or in kilowatt hours (kWh), - a financial cost, in monetary value, and - an environmental impact expressed for example in quantity of carbon dioxide (CO2).
[0065] The mapping is, for example, stored in memory of a device of the navigation system or of a remote server accessible via the communication device and the infrastructure of the communication network, or is obtained from a combination of data stored in memory of the device of the navigation system and data from the server.
[0066] Thus, according to a particular embodiment, the mapping comprises information received from a remote server.
[0067] The map has information relating to roads constituting a road network and which may constitute the different sections of the different routes. This information from the map belongs to a first set of information comprising for each road: - a type, for example urban, extra-urban or motorway, - a length and / or distance, - an average and / or maximum speed for each road, - a travel time, - a number of ways, - an average speed per lane, - identification of a faster route, - topographical data such as an average or maximum difference in altitude, - limitations or regulations, - a price for example a toll, and - traffic density.
[0068] A first weight is determined for each section 120 of each route based on parameters determined from information in the map.
[0069] According to a particular embodiment, a first weight is also defined as a function of characteristics of the vehicle 10.
[0070] Such characteristics of the vehicle 10 belong for example to a set of characteristics comprising: - dimensions, weight and / or size, - a speed profile, - a number of seats and / or passengers, - a type of energy, - an energy storage capacity, and - an energy consumption profile.
[0071] Each parameter is then determined either directly from information from the mapping, or from a combination of information from the mapping and data relating to the vehicle 10.
[0072] For example, an energy quantity parameter is determined for a portion of road from several pieces of information from the first set of information. For the portion of road concerned, it is necessary, for example, to know a type, a distance, an average speed and a gradient. From this information, a correspondence is found with characteristics of the vehicle 10, here its energy consumption, for example in a table recorded in the memory of the vehicle 10, the quantity of energy consumed by the vehicle 10 on this portion of road, therefore on the section 120 comprising the portion of road, is determined.
[0073] It should be noted that by quantity of energy is meant a quantity of fuel in the case of using fossil energy to power an engine of the thermal vehicle 10, for example unleaded gasoline, diesel or ethanol, usually expressed in liters (1), and a quantity of electricity in the case of a vehicle 10 with an electric motor, usually expressed in kilowatt hours (kWh).
[0074] According to another example, a financial cost parameter comprises a tariff for a portion of toll road. This value may be a fixed value or a value depending on a characteristic of the vehicle 10, here a size or a class of the vehicle 10. The cartographic information comprises, for example, all the tariffs applicable for using the portion of toll road according to a vehicle size. By combining this information with information relating to the size of the vehicle 10, for example recorded in the memory of a device of the vehicle 10, the price of the toll portion of the road is determined.
[0075] A first weight is then determined from the previously determined parameters.
[0076] According to a particular embodiment, each parameter is transformed into an index so as to make the parameters homogeneous and comparable with each other. For example, if several routes take different sections 120 to connect two same stopping points 121, the index of the distance parameter is equal to 1 for a distance equal to that of the shortest section 120, the indices of the other sections 120 of the alternative routes are then defined as a ratio between the actual distance of the alternative section 120 and the actual distance of the shortest section 120.
[0077] For a duration parameter, the index 1 is determined by the sum of the travel times for the sections 120 of the route whose total travel time is minimal among the travel times of all the routes.
[0078] The first weights of each route are determined using a cost function based on the parameters or indices previously described.
[0079] According to a first example, a first weight is equal to the sum of the different indices determined for each section of a route.
[0080] According to a second example, each parameter or each index is weighted by a selection criterion. Such a selection criterion is for example determined by a user via the HMI. A user can thus prioritize the duration, the distance or the financial cost of a journey, or define weighting values associated with each parameter. A first weight is then equal to the sum of the weighted parameters or to the sum of the weighted indices for each section 120 of a route.
[0081] The map also has information relating to stopping points or points of interest which may constitute different stopping points 121 of the different routes. This information belongs to a second set of information comprising for each stopping point 121: - a type of breakpoint, - fuel availability and / or price, - availability of a charging station and / or an energy tariff, - number of parking spaces available, - access regulations, - a rate, for example an hourly rate or a rate for access to a service such as parking, washing or repairs, and - a rest time.
[0082] From this second set of information, a second weight is determined for each stopping point 121 of each route according to a determination or calculation similar to that used to determine the first weight of a route.
[0083] As previously, this second weight is for example defined as a function of characteristics of the vehicle 10.
[0084] For example, an energy quantity parameter is determined for a stopping point 121 from several pieces of information from the second set of information. For the stopping point 121 in question, it is necessary, for example, to know a fuel availability and price or a charging station availability and an energy price. By combining this information with a fuel or energy requirement of the vehicle 10 as well as with an energy carrying capacity, an energy quantity to be stored in the vehicle 10 at this stopping point 121 is determined.
[0085] According to this same example, a financial cost parameter includes an energy storage tariff, determined by multiplying the quantity of energy to be stored and the tariff of an energy obtained from the second information.
[0086] A second weight is then determined from the previously determined parameters.
[0087] In a fourth operation, a third weight associated with each route is determined based on the first and second weights determined for that same route. These third weights then form a set of third weights.
[0088] The third weight is for example equal to the sum of the first and second weights.
[0089] According to a variant, the third weight is equal to the minimum value among the first and second weights.
[0090] In a fifth operation, a current route is selected from the set of routes based on the third weights.
[0091] The current route is for example the route whose third weight is the lowest among the set of third weights, or according to another example the route whose third weight has the median value of the set of third weights.
[0092] In a sixth operation, instructions are determined for each section 120 and each stopping point 121 of the current route based on the first and second weights determined for the current route. These instructions make it possible, when followed, to ensure that the first weight assigned to a section 120 or the second weight assigned to a stopping point 121 is respected.
[0093] In a seventh operation, the instructions are, for example, communicated to the IVI computer in order to control the display of the instructions in a determined content of a human-machine interface. For example, the display of textual and / or graphical contents on the touch screen of the HMI is controlled.
[0094] According to an example, the vehicle 10 is guided to one of the stopping points 121 of the current route comprising a charging station. The second weight determined for this stopping point 121 is for example determined from the cost parameter financial and the duration parameter. These parameters are determined from a quantity of energy to be stored in the vehicle 10, a recharging time and a tariff associated with this quantity of energy. When approaching this stopping point 121, instructions relating to the recharging time or a quantity of energy to be stored are communicated to the driver, thus guaranteeing a break time or a price for a recharge. The second weight determined for this stopping point 121 of the current route is thus guaranteed.
[0095] In an eighth operation, these instructions are, for example, also sent to AD AS, such as a device of the navigation system, in order to guide the driver of the vehicle 10.
[0096] According to an example, the first weight determined for the section 120 comprising this slowdown is determined from information from the map comprising the average speed on each lane, the lane being the fastest having been selected when determining the first weight. The first weight relating to the section 120 comprising this slowdown is in particular determined from the duration parameter estimated from the average speed on the selected lane. The HMI then indicates the lane to be taken, this instruction guarantees an actual duration spent in this slowdown in accordance with a determined duration having been used to determine the first weight.
[0097] Thus, this method for controlling a journey of the vehicle 10 makes it possible to select a current route from a set of routes according to a cost function associated with several parameters. Once the current route has been selected, the instructions determined make it possible to guarantee that the cost of this journey is maintained.
[0098] [Fig. 2] schematically illustrates a device 2 configured for controlling a journey of a vehicle, for example of the vehicle 10, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The device 2 corresponds for example to a device on board the vehicle 10, for example a computer.

[0106] [Fig. 3] illustrates a flowchart of the different steps of a method for controlling a journey of a vehicle, for example of the vehicle 10, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The method is for example implemented by a device on board the vehicle 10 or by the device 2 of [Fig. 2],
[0107] In a first step 31, first data representative of a starting geographical position D of the journey and of a finishing geographical position A of the journey are received.
[0108] In a second step 32, a set of routes is determined based on the first data, each route comprising at least two sections 120 separated by at least one stopping point 121.
[0109] In a third step 33, first and second weights are determined for each route as a function of parameters determined from a map, a first weight being determined for each section 120 of each route and a second weight being determined for each stopping point 121 of each route.
[0110] In a fourth step 34, a third weight associated with each route is determined based on the first and second weights determined for the route.
[0111] In a fifth step 35, a current route is selected from the set of routes based on the third weights.
[0112] In a sixth step 36, instructions are determined for each section 120 and each stopping point 121 of the current route as a function of the first and second weights determined for the current route.
[0113] According to a variant, the variants and examples of the operations described in relation to [Fig.l] apply to the steps of the method of [Fig.3].
[0114] Of course, the present invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments described above but extends to a method for determining a journey time of a journey which would include secondary stages without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention.
