Description

Title of the invention: Luminous device for lighting and / or signaling a motor vehicle Technical field

[0001] The invention relates to the technical field of lighting and / or signaling of a motor vehicle, more particularly of the lighting devices of a motor vehicle. State of the art

[0002] Generally, vehicle lighting devices consist of one or more light modules which perform different lighting and / or signaling functions, such as main and dipped beam lighting functions or signaling functions such as the direction indicator function, the daytime running light function, the position light function.

[0003] To minimize the cost and bulk of lighting devices, it is desirable that a single lighting device can perform or participate in performing several lighting functions and possibly one or more signaling functions.

[0004] However, for each of the lighting or even signaling functions in which the lighting device participates, different components of the lighting device are used. Thus, the visual light signature of the lighting device will not be identical for all the lighting and signaling functions emitted.

[0005] Similarly, the illumination of said lighting device will not be uniform for all lighting and signaling functions emitted, which creates an undesirable visual appearance of a vehicle.

[0006] The visual light signature of a vehicle allows a vehicle to be recognized and gives it a visual identity. It is therefore desirable that this visual signature can remain identical regardless of the lighting function, or even the signaling function, which is emitted. In addition, to improve the visual appearance of the vehicle, it is desirable that the lighting is as uniform as possible.

[0007] Currently, manufacturers are encountering great difficulty in combining several lighting functions, and even one or more signaling functions, into a single lighting device, which is reliable, inexpensive, easy to produce and which has an identical visual signature regardless of the lighting or signaling function emitted, and a uniform visual appearance.

[0008] The invention therefore falls within this context and seeks to resolve all of the aforementioned drawbacks.

[0009] Thus, the invention seeks to propose a less expensive lighting and / or signaling device for a vehicle which has uniformity of lighting and an identical visual light signature between the different lighting and / or signaling functions which it emits. Presentation of the invention

[0010] The invention relates to a reliable, compact lighting and / or signaling device for a motor vehicle, reducing the number of parts, while being capable of achieving uniform lighting between the different lighting functions that it emits.

[0011] To this end, according to the invention, a light device for lighting and / or signaling a motor vehicle has been developed, comprising a first light module and a second light module, a housing comprising said first and second modules closed by a common optical projection device and an additional light module comprising at least one additional light source.

[0012] According to the invention, the first light module is arranged to form a first light beam which, when projected by the common optical projection device, participates in the realization of a first regulatory photometric function, the second light module is arranged to form a second light beam which, when projected by the common optical projection device, participates in the realization of a second regulatory photometric function and the additional light module is arranged in the housing so that said additional light module emits light downstream of the first and second light modules, towards a major part of the common optical projection device.

[0013] Preferably, the first and second light modules are top and bottom light modules.

[0014] The terms "top" and "bottom" refer to the positions of the modules when the light module is installed in a motor vehicle.

[0015] The term "said additional light module emits light downstream of the first and second modules" is understood to mean that the additional module is positioned in the housing so as to be closer to the common optical projection device than the first and second modules.

[0016] The additional light module may in particular emit light when the first light beam is emitted by the first light module and / or when the second light beam is emitted by the second light module. The additional light module then emits ambient light into the housing of the lighting device. Thus, a lighting device is obtained having ambient light in its housing in order to illuminate the optical projection device for making the diffusion of light from said optical projection device more homogeneous in the lit appearance when the different lighting functions are on or off.

[0017] More particularly, the additional light module can provide additional light that can be emitted simultaneously to the lighting functions emitted by the first and second light modules. Advantageously, the additional contribution of light by the additional light module to the lighting of the optical projection device makes it possible to uniformly illuminate all of the portions of the optical projection device despite the fact that said portions are not always illuminated depending on the function that is emitted.

[0018] Alternatively or in addition, the additional light module can perform a signaling function making it possible to obtain a light device having the same light signature between the lighting and signaling functions.

[0019] In this case, the additional light module is configured to emit a signaling function such as a lantern function and / or a daytime running light function, also called DRL function for "Daytime Running Light". When the additional light module performs a signaling function in addition to emitting ambient light, then, in addition to having an identical light signature between the different lighting functions performed by the lighting device, the lighting device also comprises an identical light signature for the lighting functions and the signaling functions emitted.

[0020] In a particular embodiment, the additional light module comprises at least one light guide having a light entry face and a light exit face, the additional light source is arranged opposite the entry face of the light guide and the light guide is arranged so that at least a portion of its exit face is arranged downstream of the first and second modules.

[0021] In a preferred embodiment, the light guide comprises an angled portion.

[0022] Preferably, the bent portion is arranged on the light guide so as to be positioned between the light entry face and the light exit face of the light guide.

[0024] The term “arranged in front of the support” is understood to mean that at least one part of the output face of the light guide is arranged in front of the slice of the support oriented towards the common optical projection device.

[0025] Advantageously, the distance between said output face of the light guide and the support is less than 5 millimeters, between 0 and 5 millimeters. Indeed, if the light guide is positioned further from the support, then the latter will hide the light emitted by the modules which make it possible to form the lighting functions.

[0026] In a particular embodiment, the first light module comprises a first light source arranged on one of the first face or the second face of the support, and a first collector associated with the first light source and comprising a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the first light source, and the second light module comprises a second light source arranged on the other of the first face or second face of the support, and a second collector associated with the second light source and comprising a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the second light source. The first light module is then arranged on one side of the support, and the second light module is then arranged on either side of the support. ;

The first light module is then arranged on either side of the support, and the second light module is then arranged on only one side of the support.

[0045] In another particular embodiment, the first module comprises at least a first collector comprising a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the first light source into a first light beam, the first collector having a first edge and a second edge, called transverse, adjacent to the first edge, the first collector being arranged opposite the support of the first light source so that the first edge extends in a plane substantially parallel to the first face of the support and that the second edge, said transverse extends in a plane forming an angle with the first face of the support and the second module comprises at least a second collector comprising a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the second light source into a second light beam and the common optical projection device comprises a first portion arranged to project, said first light beam into a first projected light beam, formed by an image of the reflective surface of the first collector and a second portion, adjacent to the first portion, arranged to project said second light beam into a second projected light beam, formed by an image of the reflective surface of the second collector, said first portion of the optical projection device having a focal zone located in the vicinity of the second edge, called transverse of the first collector so that said first projected light beam has an upper cut-off formed by the second edge, called transverse of the first collector. [0058] In the following description, elements that are identical, by structure or by function, appearing in different figures retain, unless otherwise specified, the same references. Description of the embodiments

[0059] With reference to [Fig.l] to [Fig.6], the present invention relates to a reliable, inexpensive lighting and / or signaling device for a motor vehicle 1 which makes it possible to obtain uniform lighting.

[0060] As illustrated by [Fig.l], the lighting and / or signaling light device 1, also called light device 1, comprises several light modules arranged vertically on top of each other. In particular, the light device 1 comprises first light modules 10 and second light modules 11. The first and second light modules 10, 11 may in particular be grouped into sets of first and second light modules. Figures 1 and 2 show three sets of first and second light modules, namely an upper set and two lower sets.

[0061] The first light modules 10 each make it possible to form at least one first light beam, and the second light modules 11 each make it possible to form at least one second light beam.

[0062] Each first light module 10 makes it possible, for example, to produce different first light beams performing part of a first regulatory photometric function, corresponding here to a dipped-beam type lighting function. The first light module can project a first light beam having a light distribution spread over a large width and delimited by a substantially flat upper cut-off and / or a first light beam having a concentrated light distribution delimited by a substantially oblique cut-off.

[0063] Each second light module 11 makes it possible, for example, to produce different second light beams performing part of a second regulatory photometric function, corresponding here to a road type lighting function. The second light module can project a second light beam having a light distribution extending, at least partially, above the horizontal cutoff of a dipped beam type lighting beam, being concentrated on a restricted area and / or a second light beam having a light distribution extending, at least partially, above the horizontal cutoff of a dipped beam type lighting beam being spread over a wide area.

[0064] The combinations of the light beams produced by all of the first 10 and second 11 light modules of the light device 1 thus advantageously make it possible to produce a regulatory dipped beam type lighting beam, called the first regulatory photometric function, and a regulatory main beam type lighting beam, called the second regulatory photometric function.

[0065] In the example of [Fig.l], the first light module 10 belonging to the assembly of the first light module 10 and the second upper light module 11 is arranged to project a light beam having a concentrated light distribution delimited by a substantially oblique cut-off, and the second light module 11, belonging to the assembly of the first light module 10 and the second upper light module 11, is arranged to project a light beam having a light distribution extending, at least partially, above the horizontal cut-off of a dipped-beam type lighting beam, being concentrated on a restricted area.

[0066] The first light module of the other sets of first and second modules light of the lighting device 1 is arranged to project a light beam having a light distribution spread over a large width and delimited by a substantially flat cut-off. And, the second light module of the other sets of first and second light modules of the lighting device 1 is arranged to project a light beam having a light distribution extending, at least partially, above the horizontal cut-off of a dipped-beam type lighting beam, being spread over a wide area.

[0067] The light beam(s) emitted by the first 10 and second 11 light modules are projected onto the road by means of an optical projection device 5 specific to each set of first 10 and second 11 light modules, which may comprise a single portion provided with a single focal zone 8 or which may comprise different portions each provided with their own focal zone 81, 82, 83, 84. The set of optical projection devices 5 forms, in the example described, a single optical projection part extending substantially vertically.

[0068] Thus, the lighting and / or signaling device 1 comprises a housing 12 comprising all of the first 10 and second 11 light modules. The first light modules 10 are arranged to form a first light beam which, when projected by the common optical projection device 5, participates in the realization of a first regulatory photometric function, namely the dipped-beam type lighting function and the second light modules 11 are arranged to form a second light beam which, when projected by the common optical projection device 5, participates in the realization of a second regulatory photometric function, namely the road type lighting function.

[0069] The sets of first 10 and second 11 lower light modules illustrated in [Figs. 1 and 2] are identical and are described with reference to [Figs. 3 to 5] which illustrate one of these sets of first and second light modules. In this set of first 10 and second 11 light modules, the first light module 10 comprises two light sources 21, 23 and two collectors 41, 43, and the second light module 11 comprises two light sources 22, 24 and two collectors 42, 44. In addition, the optical projection device 5 associated with this set comprises a single portion which is associated with both the first light module 10 and the second light module 11.

[0070] The first 10 and second 11 light modules are each arranged on either side of a support 3 of the light device 1, and closed by the optical projection device 5.

[0071] More precisely, the first light module 10 comprises a first light source 21, arranged on a first face 31 of the support 3, opposite which a first collector 41 and a first complementary light source 23 are arranged, arranged on a second face 32 of the support 3, opposite which a first complementary collector 43 is arranged.

[0072] In the same way, the second light module 11 comprises a second light source 22, arranged on the first face 31 of the support 3 and opposite which is arranged a second collector 42 and a second complementary light source 24, arranged on the second face 32 of the support 3 and opposite which is arranged a second complementary collector 44.

[0073] Furthermore, the lighting and / or signaling device comprises an additional light module 13 comprising an additional light source 25, the additional light module 13 is arranged in the housing 12 so that said additional light module 13 emits light downstream of the first 10 and second 11 light modules.

[0074] A portion of the light emitted by the additional light module 13 is diffused by the housing 12 towards the optical projection device 5. Indeed, the internal walls of the housing 12 are intended to receive light emitted by the additional light module 13, for example the internal walls of the housing are white or metallized.

[0075] The additional light module 13 is configured to perform a signaling function.

[0076] In the illustrated example, the additional light module 13 comprises at least one light guide 131 having a light input face 132 and a light output face 133. The additional light source 25 is arranged opposite the input face 132 of the light guide 13 and is arranged on a printed circuit board independent of the lighting system of the lighting device (not shown).

[0077] The light guide 131 is arranged so that at least a portion of its output face 133 is arranged downstream of the first 10 and second 11 light modules, more particularly in front of the support 3.

[0078] The light guide 131 comprises an angled portion positioned between the light entry face 132 and the light exit face 133 of the light guide 131.

[0079] The housing 12 is thus formed by two complementary half-shells 121, 122 fixed to each other, each half-shell 121, 122 comprising at least one recess 123, the recesses 123 of the half-shells 121, 122 together forming a receptacle in which a part of the light guide 131 is housed when the half-shells 121, 122 are assembled.

[0080] All of the light sources 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 can be activated selectively.

[0081] In the example described, the light sources 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 are chips with light-emitting semiconductors, and more precisely light-emitting diodes, arranged on a first 31 and a second face 32 of a support 3. Said first and second light sources 21, 22 are arranged on a first face 31 of the support 3 and the first and second complementary light sources 23, 24 are arranged on the second face 32 of the support 3.

[0082] In addition, the support 3 comprises a heat sink 7 equipped with a plate 71 supporting on one side a first printed circuit board defining the first face 31 on which the first 21 and the second 22 light sources are mounted and on the other side a second printed circuit board defining the second face 32 on which the first 23 and the second 24 complementary light sources are mounted.

[0083] The first 21 and the second 22 light sources have an overall direction of emission substantially perpendicular to the first face 31 of the support 3.

[0084] In the same way, the first 23 and the second 24 complementary light sources have an overall direction of emission substantially perpendicular to the second face 32 of the support 3.

[0085] In addition, the first collector 41 of the first light module 10 has a first edge 411 and a second edge, called transverse 412 adjacent to the first edge 411.

[0086] Said first collector 41 being arranged opposite the support 3 of the first light source 21, so that the first edge 411 extends in a plane substantially parallel to the first face 31 of the support 3 and that the second edge, called transverse 412, extends in a plane forming an angle with the first face 31 of the support 3.

[0087] The first collector 41 comprises a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the first light source 21 into a first light beam.

[0088] The second collector 42 of the second light module 11 has a first edge 421 and a second edge, called transverse 422 adjacent to the first edge 421.

[0089] In addition, the second collector 42 is arranged opposite the first face 31 of the support 3 so that its first edge 421 extends in a plane substantially parallel to the first face 31 of the support 3 and its second edge, called transverse 422, extends in a plane forming an angle with the first face 31 of the support 3.

[0090] The second collector 42 comprises a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the second light source 22 into a second light beam.

[0091] The second collector 42 is arranged so as to collect a portion of the light rays emitted by the first light source 21. Indeed, the second collector 42 is arranged close to the first light source 21, so that when the first light source 21 is lit, it can partially illuminate the second collector 42.

[0092] The first 41 and second 42 collectors each define a cavity and are arranged so that these cavities are opposite each other.

[0093] The second light source 22 is arranged on the first face 31 of the support 3, behind the first light source 21.

[0094] The first complementary collector 43 belonging to the first light module 10 and the second complementary collector 44 belonging to the second light module 11 are each arranged opposite the first 23 and second 24 complementary light sources.

[0095] Each of the first and second complementary collectors 43, 44 comprises a reflective surface arranged to collect and reflect the light rays emitted by the first 23 and second 24 complementary light sources into a light beam complementary to the first and second light beams, said complementary collectors 43, 44 have a first edge 431, 441 and a second edge, called transverse 432, 442 adjacent to their respective first edges 431, 441.

[0096] The first and second complementary collectors 43, 44 are arranged opposite the second face 32 of the support 3, so that their first edges 431, 441 extend in a plane substantially parallel to the second face 32 of the support 3 and their second edges, called transverse edges 432, 442, extend in a plane forming an angle with the second face 32 of the support 3.

[0097] The first 43 and second 44 complementary collectors each define a cavity and are arranged so that these cavities are opposite each other.

[0098] The second edges, called transverse 411, 431 of the first collector 41 and first complementary collector 43 are coplanar, just like the second edges, called transverse 421, 441 of the second collector 42 and second complementary collector 44.

[0099] The cavities defined by the first collector 41 and first complementary collector 43 face each other, as do the cavities defined by the second collector 42 and second complementary collector 44.

[0100] As illustrated in [Fig.5], the optical projection device 5 comprises a single portion, which may also be called a first portion, arranged to project said first and second light beams, respectively into a first and second projected light beam.

[0101] Thus, the portion comprises a single focal zone 8 and is arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the first collector 41, the image of the reflective surface of the first collector 41 forming a first projected light beam.

[0102] The portion of the optical projection device 5 has a focal zone 8 located at vicinity of the second edge, called transverse 412 of the first collector 41 so that the image of the first collector 41 formed by said portion of the optical projection device 5 has an upper cut-off formed by the second edge, called transverse 412.

[0103] The portion of the optical projection device 5 is also arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the second collector 42, the image of the reflective surface of the second collector 42 forming a second projected light beam. The second projected light beam extends above the upper cut-off of the image of the first collector 41 formed by said portion.

[0104] Advantageously, the first edge 421 of the second collector 42 extends behind the first edge 411 of the first collector 4L. Thus, the focal zone 8 of the portion being located in the vicinity of the second edge, called transverse 412, of the first collector 41, a part of the second edge, called transverse 422, of the second collector 42 is located at a distance, behind, this focal zone, so as to be defocused. The second projected light beam thus comprises a blurred lower part, overflowing towards the upper cutoff of the first projected beam, so that the overall beam formed by these first and second projected light beams is substantially homogeneous.

[0105] In addition, the optical projection device 5 extends generally in a given main direction of extension, just like the first face 31 of the support 3 which extends generally in the same given main direction of extension. Preferably, the main direction is the vertical direction.

[0106] In addition, the first portion of the optical projection device 5 has an optical axis distinct from the overall direction of emission of the first light source 21.

[0107] Furthermore, the first collector 41 is arranged opposite the first face 31 support 3, so that the second edge, called transverse 412, extends in a plane substantially parallel with a plane defined by said overall direction of emission and said optical axis.

[0108] The portion of the optical projection device 5 is arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the first complementary collector 43, the image of the reflective surface of the first complementary collector 43 forming a first projected complementary light beam. Indeed, the focal zone 8, located in the vicinity of the second edge, called transverse 412 of the first collector 41, and also located in the vicinity of the second edge, called transverse 432 of the first complementary collector 43 so that the first projected complementary light beam has a complementary upper cut-off formed by said second edge, called transverse 432 of the first complementary collector 43. The complementary upper cut-off of the image of the first complementary collector 43 is complementary to the upper cut of the image of the first collector 41.

[0109] In addition, the portion of the optical projection device 5 is also arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the second complementary collector 44, the image of the reflective surface of the second complementary collector 44 forming a second projected complementary light beam. Indeed, the focal zone 8 of the portion is also located in the vicinity of the second edge, called transverse 442 of the second complementary collector 44 so that the second projected complementary light beam extends above the upper cutoff of the first projected complementary light beam.

[0110] It will be noted that the first light module 10 comprising the first light source 21, the first complementary light source 23, the first collector 41, the first complementary collector 43 and the portion of the optical projection device 5 are arranged so that the first projected light beam and the first complementary projected light beam participate, totally or partially, in the realization of the first regulatory photometric function, namely a dipped beam type lighting photometric function.

[0111] Similarly, the second light module 11 comprising the second light source 22, the second complementary light source 24, the second collector 42, the second complementary collector 44 and the portion of the optical projection device 5 are arranged so that the second projected light beam and the second projected complementary light beam participate, totally or partially, in the realization of the second regulatory photometric function, namely a road type lighting photometric function.

[0112] Another embodiment of a set of first and second light modules 10, 11 is shown in [Fig. 6]], corresponding to the upper set of first and second light modules 10, 11 of the light device 1 illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2. In this embodiment, the collectors are identical to those described previously, namely in the embodiment presented in [Figs. 3 to 5] so that these collectors will not be described again. On the other hand, and unlike the embodiment of FIGS. 3 to 5, the set of first and second light modules has an optical projection device 5 of the light device 1 comprising a portion specific to each collector, each portion of the optical projection device being arranged to project the light beam formed by this collector, into a projected light beam.

[0113] Thus, the first portion 51 is arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the first collector 41, the image of the reflective surface of the first collector 41 forming the first projected light beam.

[0114] The first portion 51 of the optical projection device 5 has a focal zone 81 located on the second edge, called transverse 412 of the first collector 41 so that the image of the first collector 41 formed by said first portion 51 of the optical projection device 5 has an upper cut-off formed by the second edge, called transverse 412.

[0115] The second portion 52 of the optical projection device 5 is arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the second collector 42, the image of the reflective surface of the second collector 42 forming the second projected light beam. The second projected light beam extends above the upper cutoff of the first projected light beam. The second portion 52 of the optical projection device 5 has a focal zone 82 located on the second edge, called transverse 422 of the first collector 42.

[0116] The third portion 53 of the optical projection device 5 is arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the first complementary collector 43, the image of the reflective surface of the first complementary collector 43 forming the first complementary light beam. The third portion 53 of the optical projection device 5 has a focal zone 83 located on the second edge, called transverse 432 of the first complementary collector 43 so that the image of the first complementary collector 43 formed by said third portion 53 of the optical projection device 5 has an upper cut-off complementary to the upper cut-off of the image of the first collector 41 formed by said first portion 51.

[0117] The fourth portion 54 of the optical projection device 5 is arranged to form an image of the reflective surface of the second complementary collector 44, the image of the reflective surface of the second complementary collector 44 forming the second complementary light beam. The fourth portion 54 of the optical projection device 5 has a focal zone 84 located on the second edge, called transverse 442 of the second complementary collector 44. The second projected complementary light beam extends above the upper cutoff of the first projected light beam and the first projected complementary light beam.

[0118] It will be noted that in the set of first 10 and second 11 light modules illustrated in [Fig.6], the first light source 21, the first complementary light source 23, the first collector 41, the first complementary collector 43, the first portion 51 and the third portion 53 of the optical projection device 5 are arranged so that the first projected light beam and the first projected complementary light beam participate, totally or partially, in the realization of a photometric lighting function of the dipped beam type.

[0119] Similarly, the second light source 22, the second source complementary light beam 24, the second collector 42, the second complementary collector 44, the second portion 52 and the fourth portion 54 of the optical projection device 5 are arranged so that the second projected light beam and the second projected complementary light beam participate, totally or partially, in the realization of a road type photometric lighting function

[0120] Where appropriate, said focal zones 81, 82, 83, 84 of said portions 51, 52, 53, 54 of the optical projection device 5 coincide with the junction point of the first 411, 421, 431, 441 and second edges 412, 422, 432, 442 of the set of collectors 41, 42, 43, 44.

[0121] Thus, the presence of different focal zones allows the projection of a high intensity light beam onto a well-defined projected zone.

[0122] The first 41 and second 42 collectors, as well as the first 43 and second complementary collectors 44 each have a quarter-parabola shape.

[0123] In addition, the set of second light modules 11 illustrated in [Fig. 3 to 5], comprises a first deflector 6, arranged in a part forming both the first 41 and the second collector 42, opposite which is arranged the second light source 22 and a second deflector 6, arranged in a part forming both the first 43 and the second complementary collector 44, opposite which is arranged the second complementary light source 24.

[0124] The deflector 6 is arranged to deflect the light rays emitted by the second light source 22 towards the second collector 42.

[0125] Furthermore, the deflectors 6 are in a substantially parabolic shape.

[0126] In any event, the invention cannot be limited to the specific embodiments technically described in this document, and extends in particular to all equivalent means and to any technically effective combination of these means.
