Abstract

The invention relates to a motor vehicle body structure (1) comprising a rear panel (2) extending between an outer face (3) and an inner face (4), the body structure (1) further comprising a panel lining (5) extending at least partially opposite the inner face (4) of the panel (2) and defining with the panel (2) an internal space (7), the body structure (1) comprising at least one insert (8) designed to be fitted between the panel (2) and the lining (5) and designed to fill at least partially the internal space (7) by bearing against the lining (5) and the inner face (4) of the panel (2), the insert (8) being designed to absorb at least a portion of the energy released during an impact sustained by the rear panel (2). Claims

1. Body structure (1) of a motor vehicle comprising a rear panel (2), extending between an external face (3) and an internal face (4), the body structure (1) further comprising a panel lining (5) extending at least partly opposite the internal face (4) of the panel (2) and defining with the panel (2) an internal space (7), the body structure (1) comprising at least one insert (8) designed to be attached between the panel (2) and the lining (5) and designed to at least partly fill the internal space (7) by bearing on the lining (5) and on the internal face (4) of the panel (2), the insert (8) being designed to absorb at least part of the energy released during a repairable impact suffered by the rear panel (2).

2. Body structure (1) according to claim 1, characterized in that each insert (8) is made of expansive material (9) so that the insert (8) increases its volume to fill at least part of the internal space (7) when the insert (8) is inserted into the internal space (7).

3. Body structure (1) according to claim 2, characterized in that the expansive material (9) comprises at least one material forming a polymeric foam.

4. Body structure (1) according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the insert (8) has a honeycomb structure.

5. Motor vehicle having a structure (1) according to one of claims 1 to 4, the insert (8) being fitted in the internal space (7).
