Dental hygiene device

InactiveUS7080980B2Minimal amount of maintenanceGum massageKitchenware cleanersDocking stationMotor drive
A dental hygiene system provided with interchangeable dental heads permits power-enhanced brushing and concurrent fluid irrigation to optimize a user's personal dental hygiene efforts. The system has a handle assembly with an irrigation nozzle in close proximity to displaceable bristles driven by a battery-operated handle motor. Pumping of irrigation fluid such as an antiseptic solution into the oral cavity is also motor driven. A telescoping chamber with irrigation fluid fits on the piston-like base end of the handle and is refilled by docking the handle assembly on a complementary docking station that includes a detachable fluid reservoir, microswitch controls and a base fluid pump. Docking of the handle assembly triggers the microswitches and opens a check valve in the bottom of the handle chamber, which activates the flow of fluid from the reservoir into the chamber. An optional fiberoptic subassembly illuminates the oral cavity.

Hand held oral irrigator

According to one broad aspect of one embodiment of the present invention, disclosed herein is a hand held oral irrigation device having a tip for dispensing fluids. In one example, an oral irrigation device includes a body portion, and a reservoir for storing fluids, wherein the body and / or the reservoir define a first major diameter at a lower end of the oral irrigation device, and define a second major diameter at an upper end of the oral irrigation device, the first major diameter being larger than the second major diameter. In this example, by providing such a geometry for the device, a user can grasp the device with one hand about the second major diameter during use. In another example, the body includes a pump for pumping fluids from the reservoir to the tip, wherein the pump includes an inlet valve and an outlet valve, the inlet valve including a reed valve made of flexible fabric material. The outlet valve may also include a reed valve made of flexible fabric material.

Oral irrigator

The present invention is an oral irrigator comprising a pump, a discharge nozzle and a pressure control. The pump has a generally constant operating speed and feeds the discharge nozzle. The pressure control is adapted to modify a discharge pressure at the nozzle without a significant change in pump speed. The pressure control modifies a level of fluid flow restriction between the pump and the nozzle. The modification of the level of fluid flow restriction is accomplished by modifying aspects of a fluid flow path extending through the pressure control. The aspects modified include the diameter, length and / or number of direction changes of the fluid flow path.

Oral care device

An oral care device includes an electric motor, an air compressor operated by the motor, and an enclosed container for holding a slurry. A first conduit conducts compressed air from the compressor into the container. The compressed air is at a pressure of between about 20 psi to about 50 psi. A second conduit conducts the slurry and air from the container to an applicator from which the slurry and air is sprayed into the oral cavity of a human. The second conduit is at least about 24 inches in length.

Tip for oral irrigator

A oral irrigator tip for an oral irrigator. The oral irrigator tip may include a shaft portion with a base, an apex, and a transitional portion linking the base to the apex. The shaft portion may be straight or angled. The shaft portion may be hollow from the base to the apex to define a fluid passage, thus permitting fluid to flow along the shaft portion. A retaining feature may be formed on the shaft portion to facilitate retention of the oral irrigator tip by an oral irrigator. A connector may join a nozzle to the shaft portion. Attached to the connector may be a bristle element, which may include multiple individual bristles glued or otherwise affixed to the connector. The bristles may be arranged in a circular pattern; water may flow around the individual bristles or through the center of the bristles.

Multi user oral cleansing device, DentalJet

This invention creates a convenient low cost water pressure driven multi user oral cleansing device, the DentalJet with exchangeable color coded nozzle / handle which is easy to use, needs no electricity. The invention uses a faucet attachable rotating diverter, a flexible longer food grade PVC tube and interchangeable color coded jet nozzle / handle. The diverter also functions as a fine water volume / pressure control with a preset temperature and filter. Water pressure bulges up the flexible rubber tube clamped to the end of the adapter and to the PVC tubing. Inside the handle the water pressure created friction keeps the hose adapter in solid coupling while the pressure is on. The rubber tube oscillates, as pulsating water exist at the nozzle. When the water pressure is removed, color coded nozzle / handle is exchangeable.

Pre-impregnated disposable dental substance delivery mouthpiece

InactiveUS20030003421A1Increase the patient's comfortPromote healingTeeth fillingCoffinsOral treatmentAdhesive
Disposable dental mouthpiece-strip which has been pre-impregnated with dental substance which can either be placed in the mouth by the user or inserted in the mouth by a dentist for oral treatments, such as teeth whitening treatments, fluoride treatments, or medical treatments, such as the application of anasthetic or antimicrobal / antiseptic treatments. The mouthpiece-strip is made with a foldable structure such as a thin strip of wax with a section of porous material (sponge) that holds the treatment dental product (liquid or gel). The mouthpiece-strip is disposable; the amount of time it is worn is determined by the type of dental treatment. The mouthpiece-strip may be adjusted in size by cutting it with scissors. The wax used for the mouthpiece is non-toxic and allows for a perfect adjustment in the mouth by contouring to the teeth during adjustment by the user. To enhance the fit in the mouth, the inner surface of the mouthpiece-strip may contain a thin layer of non-toxic sticky adhesive. The porous (sponge) strip attached to the wax strip is an inert, nontoxic material which is easy to process and inexpensive. It is attached to the wax strip with a non-toxic adhesive.

Compact tooth whitening device

The present invention relates to compact tooth whitening devices. The compact tooth whitening device includes an electromagnetic radiation source and an applicator that is removably attached. A tooth whitening agent may be placed in the applicator and applied to the user's teeth. The electromagnetic radiation source is activated to impart electromagnetic radiation to the surface of the user's teeth coated with the tooth whitening agent, thereby causing a chemical reaction with the whitening agent, the effect of which is to enhance and / or expedite the tooth whitening effect of the application. In one embodiment of the present invention, the tooth whitening agent is selected based upon the wavelength of electromagnetic radiation emitted from the electromagnetic radiation emitter. In another aspect of the invention, a “try me package” is provided to allow consumers to sample the invention on a treated portion of the product packaging.

Device for targeted, catheterized delivery of medications

Apparatus and method for catheterized delivery or infusion of medication and anaesthesia are disclosed. The perforating catheter is first used to perforate the periodontal ligament and / or the cortical plate of bone tissue, and is then left in place and used as a catheter for insertion of a hypodermic needle of smaller gauge to deliver medication or anaesthesia to a target area. The perforator is a bevelled needle for drilling into the ligament or bone tissue. For drilling, the device comprises an adaptor which transmits the rotational movement from a dental hand piece or the like to the bevelled needle. A cap is also included for protecting the bevelled needle during storage of the device. The adaptor may have a rod which extends axially into the bevelled needle when the device is assembled for drilling. The rod is used to prevent the debris resulting from drilling from blocking the passage in the bevelled needle. As well, the rod reinforces the needle and maintains the alignment between the perforator and the adaptor for improved drilling efficiency. An adapter is disclosed which couples with the catheter once in place easing access to supply medication to difficult to reach areas.
