Description

Title of the invention: attachment device FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The invention relates to the field of fastening devices. In particular, the present invention concerns a fastening device for limiting the forces exerted when anchoring parts, and more specifically deflectors, to the rocker panels of motor vehicles. TECHNOLOGICAL BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Motor vehicles include a number of parts fixed to the bodywork, particularly the underbody. Among these parts are deflectors, which play a protective role and also improve the aerodynamics of said vehicles.

[0046] The present invention relates to a fastening device, and in particular a fastening device intended to anchor a part, called the supported part, on a support face of a support.

[0047] The carried part may in this respect include a deflector, while the support may be a rocker panel of a motor vehicle.

[0048] It is nevertheless understood that the present invention is not limited to an attachment device whose sole function is to anchor a deflector on a motor vehicle.

[0049] Thus, the present invention relates to a fastening device for anchoring a part, called the supported part, by one of its faces, called the lower face, to a face, called the support face, of a support, the supported part comprising at least one opening, called the anchoring opening, and passing through said supported part from a superior face to the lower face opposite the superior face, said anchoring opening being intended to be matched with an opening, called the support opening, passing through the support from its support face to a face, called the inner face and opposite the support face, the fastening device comprising:

[0050] - a mounting element comprising a head, provided with a first face and of a second parallel face, the mounting member also includes a hollow cylindrical section, which extends, in a direction XX', from the second face and ends with a pointed section, said cylindrical section defining an access channel opening through the first face, said cylindrical section being intended to be engaged in an anchoring opening and in a support opening corresponding to the anchoring opening considered for the purpose of anchoring the part carried on the support face;

[0051] - a locking pin, equipped with a push button and a rod, the rod being intended to be engaged, advantageously in a sliding connection, in the access channel from the first face;

[0052] The fastening device further comprises retaining means and two flexible clips, the retaining means being configured to retain the locking pin engaged in the access channel, while the two flexible clips are configured to deploy divergently with respect to a direction from the pointed section towards the head as soon as the rod engaged in the access channel adopts a position called the locking position, the deployment of the flexible clips, as soon as the cylindrical section is engaged in an anchoring opening and in a support opening and the head is supported against the upper face, positioning the free ends of said flexible clips against the inner face of the support.

[0053] The present invention will be described below with regard to two flexible clips. It is understood, however, that a single clip may also be considered, and that, generally, this description may be read with regard to "at least one clip".

[0054] The present invention considers by default a "conical section." In this respect, the latter may take a conical or pyramidal shape. Throughout this statement, reference will also be made to a "conical section" instead of a "pointed section." However, this clarification is not such as to limit the present invention, so that a person skilled in the art may consider a "pointed section" in its most general sense.

[0055] The present description also refers to tabs and, in particular, to at least one upper tab, at least one lower tab, and at least one support tab. It is understood that a tab obviously comprises a tab-shaped element but also an umbrella-shaped element and thus exhibits rotational symmetry.

[0056] By "cylindrical section," we mean an element generated by parallel generating lines. More particularly, and in accordance with this definition, a cylindrical section is not limited to an element whose intersection with a cutting plane perpendicular to the generating lines is a circle. Indeed, and in accordance with this definition, a person skilled in the art may consider an intersection of any shape, and for example, square, oblong, etc.

[0057] Figure 1 is a schematic representation of a supported part 10 that can be anchored to a support by means of the anchoring device according to the present invention. In particular, Figure 1 represents the supported part 10 in a perspective view from one of its principal faces, referred to as the upper face 10a. The supported part 10 also includes another principal face, opposite the upper face 10a and referred to as the lower face 10b.

[0058] The supported part 10 also includes at least one opening, called the anchoring opening 11. Said anchoring opening 11 passes in particular through the supported part 10 from the upper face 10a to the lower face 10b.

[0059] The anchoring opening 11 can be a combination of a circular opening 1 IC and rectangular openings 1 IL, each extending from the periphery of the circular opening 11C. By way of example, the rectangular openings 11L can be arranged at a regular angular spacing around the circular opening 11C; in particular, the anchoring opening 11 can comprise 4 rectangular openings 11L arranged at an angular spacing of 90° around the circular opening.

[0060] The supported part 10 may also include, on its upper face 10a, a circular rib 12 surrounding the anchoring opening 11. In particular, the circular rib 12 is arranged to circumscribe the anchoring opening 11. More specifically, the circular rib 12 and the circular opening 1 IC have their centers in common. Reinforcing ribs 13 may be arranged radially to the circular rib 11.

[0061] The area circumscribed by the circular rib 12, referred to as the anchoring area 13, comprises a central area 13a and a peripheral area 13b, the central area 13a being set back from the peripheral area 13b. The central area 13a and the peripheral area 13b are further connected by a wall, referred to as the anchoring wall 13c, which may be perpendicular or oblique to the areas 13a and 13b.

[0062] It is understood, without the need to specify it, that zones 13a and 13b are planar and essentially parallel to each other. Furthermore, the central zone 13a forms a disk while the peripheral zone 13b forms a ring.

[0063] As illustrated in [Fig.2], a clearance 14, through which the anchoring opening 11 opens, is formed on the lower face 10b of the supported part 10, said clearance 14 being delimited by a wall 14a.

[0064] Figure 3 is a schematic representation of a support 15 comprising two principal faces, referred to respectively as support face 15a and inner face 15b. It is understood that the two principal faces are essentially planar and opposite each other. The support also includes an opening, referred to as the support opening 16. passing through the support from its inner face. It is understood that the support opening 16 is preferably circular in shape.

[0065] The invention therefore relates to an attachment device for anchoring the supported part 10, by its lower face 10b, to the support face 15a of the support 15. In particular, the anchoring of the supported part 10 to the support 15 comprises aligning the anchoring opening 11 with the support opening 16. By "aligning", we mean an anchoring opening 11 directly above the support opening 16. In particular, the openings 11 and 16 are aligned when their respective centers are perpendicular to the support face 15a.

[0066] Thus, we can see in [Fig.4] an attachment device 100 according to a first embodiment of the present invention.

[0067] In particular, [Fig. 4] shows the fastening device 100 in a perspective and exploded view. The fastening device 100 comprises a mounting member 200 and a locking pin 300.

[0068] Figure 5 represents, in perspective view, the mounting member 200 of Figure 4.

[0069] The mounting member 200 comprises a head 201, having a first face 201a and a second face 201b parallel to each other.

[0070] The mounting member 200 also includes a hollow cylindrical section 220, which extends, in a direction XX', from the second face 201b and terminates with a conical section 240. The cylindrical section 220 defines in particular an access channel 250 opening through the first face 201a.

[0071] The cylindrical section 220 is intended to be engaged, in order, in the anchorage opening 11 and in the support opening 16 in correspondence with the anchorage opening 11 considered for the purpose of anchoring the carried part 10 on the support face 15a.

[0072] As shown in [Fig. 4] and [Fig. 5], the head 201 may be circular and comprise at least two flexible upper tabs 202. These at least two upper tabs 202 extend from the contour of the head 201 and are oriented so as to spring-loaded against contact between the second face and the upper face of the supported part when the cylindrical section is engaged in the anchoring opening. It is understood that in order to exert a spring-loaded effect against the upper face, the at least two tabs 202 must be inclined relative to the first face in a direction from the first face to the second face.

[0073] Figure 6 schematically illustrates, along a section plane perpendicular to the first face, the mounting member 200 engaged, by its conical section and in order, in the anchoring opening 11 and in the support opening 16. In this Figure 6, the at least two upper tabs 202 bear against the support face and Consequently, they prevent contact between the second face and the support face. In particular, and insofar as the anchoring wall 13c can be considered, the at least two upper tabs 202 can be arranged to cooperate with the anchoring wall 13c to allow the centering of the mounting member 200 with respect to the openings 11 and 16, and more generally of the fastening device according to the present invention. Generally, and according to the principles previously set forth, the at least two tabs can be configured to allow the centering of the mounting member with respect to the anchoring opening, the centering implementing cooperation between the at least two tabs with a circular chamfer formed on the upper face and within which the anchoring opening is centered. It is understood that in the example illustrated in [Fig. 6], the chamfer corresponds to the anchoring wall 13c.

[0074] Still in relation to [Fig.6], the mounting member 200 may include at least two lower flexible tabs 203 extending from the cylindrical section and configured to exert a force against the lower face when the cylindrical section is engaged in the anchoring opening 11.

[0075] It is understood that said lower tabs 203 extend radially to the cylindrical section.

[0076] It is understood that in order to exert a spring effect against the lower face 10b, the at least two lower tabs 203 are inclined relative to the first face in a direction from the second face to the first face.

[0077] The lower tabs 203 allow a pre-holding position to be imposed on the mounting member 200 making the attachment device according to the present invention integral with the carried part 10.

[0078] Furthermore, the clearance 14 provides a housing in which the lower tabs 203 come to rest when the part carried is anchored against the support face.

[0079] As illustrated in [Fig. 7], each lower tab 203 comprises, from its origin to its free end, a first section 203a and a second section 203b, said lower tab being configured to flex at the junction between the first section 203a and the second section 203b. This ability of the lower tabs 203 to flex allows for a limited anchoring opening. In particular, the lower tabs 203 can cooperate with the rectangular openings 1 IL and flex at the junction between the first section 203a and the second section 203b. More specifically, when the mounting member 200 is engaged, a second section 203b abuts against an edge of the rectangular opening, causing the lower tab to flex and thus allowing the mounting member 200 to be fully engaged.

[0080] The mounting member 200 may also include support tabs 204. In particular, each support tab may be associated with a lower tab 203. More specifically, each support tab 204 may have a common origin with the lower tab 203 to which it is associated. In this respect, the support tab may be inclined in a direction from the first face to the second face. In other words, a support tab extends divergently with respect to the lower tab to which it is associated. Furthermore, each support tab is configured to bear against the support face when the cylindrical section is engaged in an anchoring opening and a support opening. The recess 14 also provides a housing in which the support tabs 204 are housed when the supported part is anchored against the support face.

[0081] The fastening device 100 further includes two flexible clips 205. In particular, the two flexible clips 205, and according to this embodiment, the two flexible clips 205 are formed in the thickness of the cylindrical section 220, and include an external boss 205a configured to allow pre-snapping of the cylindrical section when the latter is partially engaged in the support opening 16. In other words, the bosses are arranged to allow holding by snapping in the support opening when the cylindrical section is engaged in the anchoring opening and the support opening.

[0082] The two flexible clips 205 are configured to deploy divergently with respect to a direction from the conical section towards the head when they are subjected to a force.

[0083] Figure 8 shows a perspective view of the locking pin of Figure 4. The locking pin 300 comprises a push button 301 and a rod 302. In particular, the rod 302 is designed to be engaged, by means of a sliding connection, in the access channel 250 from the first face (Figure 9). It is understood that the invention is not limited to a sliding connection and those skilled in the art may consider any other type of connection, and in particular a helical, rotary, or quarter-turn connection.

[0084] In this regard, and according to this embodiment, the rod 302 comprises two lateral slats 304 configured to cooperate with slots 206 formed in the cylindrical section 202. This cooperation makes it possible, in particular, to maintain the locking pin and the mounting member in a delivery position. This delivery position is a position in which the locking pin is held to the mounting member and is only partially engaged in the access channel.

[0085] The locking pin 300 is also configured so that, when the engagement of the rod in the access channel 250 is executed beyond the delivery position, adopt a locking position. The locking position is, in particular, a position in which the rod exerts force on the two flexible clips so as to deploy them divergently. It is further understood that the locking pin can adopt the locking position as soon as a pushing force is applied against the push button in order to continue the engagement of the rod in the access channel beyond the delivery position.

[0086] The deployment of the flexible clips 205 allows the free ends of said flexible clips to be positioned against the inner face of the support when the cylindrical section is engaged in an anchoring opening and in a support opening and the head is against the upper face.

[0087] As soon as the cylindrical section 220 is engaged in the anchoring opening and in the support opening and the locking pin is in its locked position, the supported part is anchored on the support.

[0088] The head 201 includes locking means configured to hold the locking pin in the locked position. By way of example, the locking means include stops formed on the push button and latching means 209 formed on the head 201.

[0089] The rod and the cylindrical section can be shaped to prevent any rotation of said rod when the latter is engaged in the cylindrical section. For example, the rod may include one or more flats along its entire length and the access channel may have a shape conforming to that of the rod ([Fig. 13]).

[0090] Fig. 10, Fig. 11, and Fig. 12 illustrate the different implementation steps of the fastening device for anchoring a supported part 10 onto a support 15.

[0091] In particular, [Fig. 10] illustrates a pre-assembly step during which the fastening device, in its delivery position, is engaged in the anchoring opening 11. The upper tabs 202 and the lower tabs 203, bearing against the upper and lower faces respectively, allow the fastening device to be tensioned. Furthermore, the upper tabs allow the fastening device to be centered relative to the anchoring opening.

[0092] Figure 11 illustrates the pre-fixing of the part to the support. In particular, the conical section 240 compensates for any misalignment of the anchoring opening relative to the support opening. Once the misalignment is corrected, the cylindrical section can be inserted into the support opening (Fig. 12). Following this insertion, the bosses 205a of the flexible clips 205 abut against the inner face 15b.

[0093] Pushing the push button then engages the rod in its locking position to complete the engagement of the cylindrical section in the support opening and thus position the free ends of the flexible clips against the inner face 15b. Moreover, as soon as it reaches its locking position, the locking pin is clicked into place with the head ([Fig. 13]).

[0094] The present invention also relates to a second embodiment which essentially retains characteristics of the first embodiment.

[0095] However, this second embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the flexible clips are carried by the rod while the cylindrical section includes two lateral openings 310 allowing the deployment of said flexible clips when the rod is in the locking position ([Fig. 14]).

[0096] Furthermore, according to this embodiment, the delivery position and the locking position are the same. In other words, the flexible clips 205 are deployed, passing through the lateral openings 310, as soon as the rod is in the delivery position.

[0097] Furthermore, the side openings and the two flexible clips are configured so that when a pushing force is exerted on the push button in order to engage the rod beyond the locking position, said flexible clips retract internally to the cylindrical section.

[0098] In addition, the locking pin, and more particularly the push button 301, may include spring tabs 315 intended to bear against the first face in order to oppose the push button and the head coming together when the rod is engaged in the access channel.

[0099] The invention also relates to an assembly comprising a supported part and a support, said supported part being anchored, by one of its faces, called lower face, on a face, called support face of the support, the supported part comprising at least one opening, called anchoring opening, and passing through said supported part from a top face to the bottom face opposite the top face, said anchoring opening being intended to be made to correspond with an opening, called support opening, passing through the support from its support face to a face, called inner face and opposite the support face, the anchoring of the supported part on the support employing at least one fastening device according to the present invention, said fastening device being engaged in the anchoring opening and in the support opening in correspondence with the anchoring opening.

[0100] Advantageously, the anchoring opening, which is generally circular in shape, also includes lateral recesses.

[0101] Advantageously, the anchoring opening is circumscribed by a circular rib formed on the lower face.

[0102] Advantageously, the carried part is a deflector and the support is an automobile rocker panel.

[0103] Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and alternative embodiments can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.
